Question Custom kernel? - OnePlus Nord N200 5G

I'm wondering how active the user base with this device is, in terms of modifications. I develop for another device, Moto G Stylus 5G, which has almost identical specs. I'm thinking of ordering a N200 5G to develop for. What features would you guys be interested in having? Also, are there any other developers in the community with a N200 5G?

i'm litterally working on it right now lol. Working on a device tree / better twrp support. kernel is one thing i haven't managed to compile yet though

I'd be super happy to have custom ROM.
I have the T-Mo version which is unbearable coming from Pixel.
Kernel would be a great addition too, after ROM .
This phone has a 2021 cpu but it runs slower than my 5 year oneplus.
Thanks!

Same here, much slower than my OP5.

Would be stoked to see some more development for N200, and I know several others would be as well!

I understand your struggle. I daily drive a OnePlus 8 and the Nord makes me mad because of how poorly optimized the software is. The refresh rate isn't quite calibrated. We'll see what I can do for it. I just got the kernel to compile from source last night, today it's onto device/vendor tree bringup for ROMs

Didn't I see, somewhere in the forum, that the source for the N200 kernel was missing some key components? Did they release a full one?

it'll have to have those parts reintegrated for a fully working build. working on this process now

process is complete, we need some testers:

Very busy, loads of new people..

First of all: this site seems to continue to attract new cool people, and I'm greatly enjoying the easy way we all seem to work together.
The whole site got 20-30% busier relative to a week ago. We're averaging well over 1000 visits a day now. These are probably mostly new people lured by the prospect of the Special Edition ROM and its ability to unlock without the serial cable.
Communities like ours feed on fresh blood and new ideas. So let's all try to be extra nice and tolerant these next few days and weeks. Some growing pains are probably inevitable, but think how some of these new folks are likely to bring interesting knowledge and experience. (Even if most of the others just bring newbie questions you've all seen a million times.)

A big thanks for the hard work on the site guys, a great resource. Starting to feel a bit more comfortable with my XDA now
Yeah! you guys did a great job! and most of all I like the fact that you are not trying to commercialize this. Respect...
i just joined up because this community reminds me of another kick-ass community that I also joineded: The Tivo Community. This forum has the same passions, feel and excitement. I love that I have found a place to hang out that is ACTIVE and chock full of great information.

LOL as much as I doubt they would.... if these very kind people did try to "commercialize this" they'd find a lawsuit in the post by HTC, O2, T-mobile and just about every telecoms company that supports the HTC-wallaby device...
Even if O2 cant support its own userbase...
Personally I think its a shame that the O2 official support had to be done as an april fools joke. By far this would have been the best move that the non computer literate O2 could have done.
Unfortunatly maybe it would mean this site becoming too busy and overwhelming the developers?
Ian.
"Yeah! you guys did a great job!" ...seconded
Hi guys,
Just wanted to leave a quick thank you for the work you're doing. I've been able to do some great things with my device due to this site and the great community that's developed here.
I live in Australia and the XDA is pretty expensive over here so I bought a T-Mobile unit from the US. You guys made it possible for me to get the thing unlocked and online as soon as it was in my hot little hands
Many thanks.
Great work guys,
i cant comment on excellence!
Keep it up and whatever you need from us as support we will do it.
Regards
Update...
Remember I posted the webstats halfway through June? It got even busier since:
To put that in perspective: look at the monthly totals:
I'm glad our community still functions as well as it does, given this insane growth.
You're all fantastic...
Exponential growth continues...
As you can see above, the site used to do 1 GB a day on really busy days in June. We did 2 and 1.8 GB on 1st and 2nd of July respectively. About 2/3 of that seems to be forum traffic, and we get 1600+ visits a day now.

HP Touchpad ROM Catalog

Hello, fellow HP Touchpad Users!
I have created a mini-site that I hope some people will find helpful.
It is a catalog of ROMs for the HP Touchpad, listed by date posted, with small amounts of helpful information about them listed on each post.
The current categories are CM10.1, CM10, CM9, and Ubuntu. I've put 11 roms that I found on the first few pages of the Development forum on the site as examples so people can see how it works.
If you've got a ROM you think should be on the list, go to the "Got a Rom?" tab, and fill out the information. (The more accurate the information, the faster I can approve the new ROM listing.)

Interactive ROM Installation Guide
I'm also doing my best to make the site easily expandable, so that I may be able to list more than just HP Touchpad ROMs.
If you'd like to see any more features on this list, let me know, and I'll see what I can do. I'll have quite a bit more free time in a month.

Good idea, and a lot of work. Thanks!
Well done. I like the idea. I just wanted to give a shout out to this ROM(s) that isnt on the list:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2225962
I think its overlooked a lot and I feel its one of the better 4.2.2 ones. I'd input the ROM myself as you suggested but I feel thats something you or the dev needs to do.

Hey, thanks chilcle_11 & jsgraphicart! I'm glad it's helpful to you.
That looks like a great ROM, jsgraphicart! It's just fine if you submit that ROM yourself, and actually I would prefer it if you did, and here's why:
There's a lot of great ROMs on these forums for the Touchpad, and there's a lot of people who have installed them. They know first hand what's broken on the ROMs, and what works, from using them. I'd rather them share what they know, rather than what I think.
When you submit the info about that ROM, I review it before it gets added to the list, so don't worry about messing up. I apologize if the form looks a bit stark and intimidating; I'm working on making it friendlier.

Thanks to a tip from flintman, I was able to make a few changes to how ROMs are stored, in reference to the software they are based on.
ROMs are now listed by Android version, rather than CM version, as some ROMs are not based on the CM source.
I also made the sorting buttons easier to see and click, and made the submission page friendlier (I hope!).
Thank you to those who have helped by giving ratings, as well as the couple of people who have submitted ROMs.
You must be new around here, or you wouldn't have omitted Shumash's Schizoid CM10 4.1.2 rom. With the exception of JC Sullins' build, it's the most prominent CM10 rom on the forum. Also, you list Liquid Smooth as a 4.2 rom and it is not. It's a 4.1 rom that's been discontinued for at least 3 mos.
If I'm being honest, while I'm sure you have good intentions, IMO this type of thread isn't very useful in the TP forum. There just aren't that many viable roms that are being currently supported, you can easily find all the available ones in the first few threads in the dev section.
As I said, I'm sure your intent is well meant but that's just my opinion.

So I e-mailed him, and asked him if he knows the status of the Lollipop ROM by Ivan which was teased before.
[See THIS POST by me]
This is what he replied.
So I guess we still have to wait a few more months...but if this time, it's true, then I suppose I can live with that...:fingers-crossed:
[NOTE: I know threads exist for both kernel sources and Lollipop discussion, but I couldn't decide where to post this, so instead of posting same thing in both, I made this thread. If mods think that's not the right procedure, please make whatever changes you want. Just that people need to know this!]
EDIT:
An official update regarding kernel sources (at least now they're not ignoring the matter):
http://en.miui.com/thread-66692-1-1.html
Turns out we were right in speculating that the reason they haven't released it is cuz they're still working on the Mi4 using the same sources.
Here's an extract:
"The reason we have not shared kernel sources yet is actually quite simple. Hugo explained this at the press conference in India last week. The kernel source code for these devices contains a significant amount of source code that will be used in two upcoming models. If we release the kernel source in its current state, we will be revealing more than we would like to about future devices. We will change this going forward, but right now it is a constraint we have to live with. We hope you can understand this position, and we're very sorry for the frustration we may have caused!"
That's right, they're acting like they haven't been violating the GPL all this while...
Wonder what the other device is, though...
(EDIT: Turns out it was the Mi Note!)

Sources are out:

Yup. But if this is TRUE, and they DO release all sources in that time, I can afford to wait...
But it'll be hard, yeah...
What the fork?

Just as i thought. They will only release the kernel source after the miui lollipop.

Nougat development sources

hi.
im starting this thread in hope some of the devs that work with le max 2 can develop nougat.
due to the attacks from the ones that doesnt do nothing to help, @ffboy2009 doesnt seem to be sharing anymore work in xda. hope he can reconsider.
hope @STEVE_MARS, @ParasiTe_RemiX, @madsurfer1, @Bshuy2003, @Cuoco92 and others(sorry if i forget someone) can develop this for our phone, since @FFboys2009 provided the sources and some screens of a nougat rom working in our device.

I would really love to help but I am not a developer, however I am still having hopes that even thought ffboy has left other developers can build a really great rom, thank you in advance for your diligently work.
That OP. LMAO
"Attacks from those doing nothing to help". Priceless. If you only knew.
another waste thread linking source of banned users work...
oh, and the "due to the attacks from the ones that doesnt do nothing to help" is a nice add from someone who knows nothing about whats going out there in the real world... I needed a laugh, thanks for that..
If ffboy copys your work you havê the right to be upset. I Also think he should post is work here. Same goês for you. I think it would be better to everyine if the work was shared here. If you dont post your work here, like you said, why the fuc* do you come here to complain? Im no developer and im just saying i think it would be better if everyone shared here what they have. There are a few people here that mau be able to help if the work das posted here.
For example, ive spent hours today testing build from the dev @crept just to help people get nougat fast in this device.
Cheers
@CrackerTeg this is your work. Can it be here so other people can take a look?

I had zero reason to mention it in the beginning. I was just allowing everyone to assume they knew how the world worked and laughed at it all. There's far more to the world of android development than this forum and by this forum, I mean xda.

Introduction
This is a general discussion thread about our efforts to bring Android to the Nintendo Switch. (This post will see updates, we just wanted to get the ball going)
Current state of the project
The base for this port is LineageOS 15.1. As of now most things you'd expect work. WiFi, Bluetooth, Audio, Dock, JoyCons via Bluetooth only for now. Full sleep does not work yet so battery runtime is not great, but this is something that's being worked on. As of yesterday Android can be booted with the hekate bootloader and entering TWRP works by simply holding VOL- while booting. There is still a bunch of stuff to do until this can see a full release. Especially the setup process is something that's being worked on making simpler.
How to keep in touch
Feel free to ask questions here (apart from ETAs obviously). Once we have a public build we'll open a DevDB project too.
We are currently posting updates on Twitter as we go along at https://twitter.com/switchroot_org
We'll have a Discord server too once the builds go public. A little more patience please.
Posted in the last couple of days by @switchroot_org
Welp, I sold my Switch, now I'll probably buy another Switch... Obviously getting the device stable is the priority at the moment, but I am still wondering if the overclocking feature will also be here for us as well? Since I can't imagine running 1ghz a57 on Android is that great
The remote playing is gonna be so interesting on this
Really, really looking forward to this. Amazing work, keep it up
Overclocking to 1.7GHz (which is actually normal clock really) will be supported. And we just fixed WiFi scanning so you can connect to WiFi normally instead of having to manually enter it.
Regarding remote play: GameStream should work out of the box, Steam Link has been successfully tested, so was Parsec. GeForce Now has an issue still that needs to be worked out so don't expect that in the first release I guess.
Netflix work in this port ?
Hey, sirocyl from switchroot here. One thing I need to make clear, in case you're wondering: Your Switch needs to have an "UNPATCHED" bootrom.
You can use this guide to identify Switches by serial number; if it's manufactured/purchased before approximately June/July 2018, it should be good - but the only way to make sure is by checking the serial!
https://gbatemp.net/threads/switch-...he-first-post-before-asking-questions.481215/
As an owner of a vulnerable Nintendo Switch i'm really excited with the progress been made here, keep up the great work
Twrp and android are inside the microsd or emmc?
Fun times ?
It was only a matter of time. XDA never ceases to amaze me!
Everything is on the microSD. Don't wanna risk Nintendo bans although _in theory_ you could put it on eMMC. We'll never officially support that tho for obvious reasons.
Very interesting, looking forward to seeing how this pans out. Now can I find a switch that can be modded is the question??
Will there be a need for root? Like can you run this on a note 9 without root?

OOOOOOH
Thanks for clarifying!
Will we ever see a wired joycon solution, perhaps influenced by the Lakka port?
At the moment you can either have wired or bluetooth due to issues with the respecting drivers. If one is in, the other breaks (don't remember the exact order). It's not an immediate focus right now now. I'll think I poke around actual sleep support a little this weekend...
Will you give us an option to choose between wired or BT joycon support?
Or are you just staying with BT only, as this option can be used when docked and portable?
I'd personally prefer wired, as I only play in portable. But this is just me.
And one more question - Android will be installed to SD rather than eMMC, and I get it, this is much better overall.
But what about performance? SD card can be much slower than eMMC, should we expect any slowdowns or other issues?
I wanted to thank entire switchroot team and other people associated with this project for their hard work. Especially ByLaws. Guys, this is huge, this is something we need, we can't be grateful enogh. Cheers!
