Fire 7 HD 4th Generation bricked? - Fire HD 6 and 7 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I'm really not sure what I did and am paying the price for multi-tasking while rooting! I have Amazon Fire 7 HD (4th Generation) which appears to be bricked. It is stuck on a black screen and is unresponsive to all attempts to reset, restart etc. When I plug it into a Windows 10 computer via USB I can hear the USB port going active/inactive every 10 or 15 seconds (the Windows USB active/inactive sound plays). I am assuming I've now got a corrupted bootloader and have no idea how to fix. I've tried various utilities but none seem to be able to get a connection I can use to try and fix it. Any guidance on where to start that is not 5 or more years old?
I downgraded to 4.5.3 to root it. I believe I achieved root but was not sure. I then got a prompt from the Fire about an issue and I THINK I may have restored a stock image.
Will a fastboot cable help me at all? I've ordered one but don't see how I can achieve a connection given it is in some sort of bootloader loop (with totally black screen).
Many thanks in advance. I realize it is an old device; was hoping to use it as a tablet for smart home automation.

Had same problem, this worked for me:
You Need:
PhoenixSuit
1) Install PhoenixSuit
2) Disconnect USB
3) Shut down tablet (Hold power for 10 sec)
4) Press and hold Home-button
5) Connecting USB (keep holding down Home button)
6) Press Power button 10-15 timer (While still holding down Home)
Now 1 of 2 thing happen
If 1: PhoenixSuit pops up and askes, want to reset? - Press yes.
If 2: Nothing.
7) Download stock Ainol firmware
8) Try to update tablet via PhoenixSuit (PhoenixSuit will say that i cant connect to tablet, but ask you to do step 1-6)
9) Do steps 1-6, and it should work this time. (well, did for me)
Hope this helps, else i got nothing

Relax guys. I need a bit of advice from you experts around. Onda unfortunately isn't available in my country and they say it's not being imported anymore due to problems.
So this is where I end up.
I need help choosing Ainol Novo 9 Spark or Ainol Novo 10 Eternal (known as Captain with 2GB ram and 1200x800 display)
I like the Novo 9 Spark but I read it has wifi problems ( which im not sure is hardware or software) and low speaker volume and it's retina display eats a lot of battery, doesn't support all apps and isn't good for 3D gaming.
Where as Eternal (Captain) has no WiFi problems until now (supports 150mbps), a better battery life (11000 Mah) and as its 1200x800 display it is much faster and has a decent volume. But it has a cheap poor performance CPU ATM 7029 and poor GPU GC 1000. As its new it lacks custom roms and stock repacks too ..
Which one should I go for?
I'll be buying either one this week.

To buy or not to buy
Properly the wrong post for this, but short:
- Do you like to "play around" with your tablet (setting up, installing new firmware, clocking ...)
- Expect to surf internet, read stuff and watch movies alot? (where the Retina display realy comes to life)
My experience is, that stock Ainol 9 suckes; terrible software/firmware.
An update to "Rom by x-calibur sdk 3.2 Yandex 0718" transformed my Novo 9 to not only a usable tablet, but acually a pretty good one.
Games it plays, see: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2175446 - All games i have tried works.
Hardware is fine, not the best, not the worst - (but then again, cant expect top-end hardware in a cheap-end tablets); all in all i find it more than adequate.
Especialy the Retina display realy does af difference, crisp clear, but comes at a cost, more work fore the CPU = shorter battery time and less speed - I find it worth it, still get 7-8 hours gaming at max brightness.
Worst Things:
- Wifi antenna is not the best, with at desent router/accespoint you get ok signal (40-60 %), but if you have a big house and low wifi signal in some parts of your house, this might not be the tablet for you. - Its a Hardware problem, so no easy fix, its possible to replace the antenna, but its not a big enough problem fore me to start disasembeling my tablet.
- Play store wont recognize tablet properly - Basicly i cant download anything i have to pay fore, amazon app store works, but just not the same - I get by with downloading apk and donating.
I have no experience with the Novo 10.

Same problem
Sorry for my english. I got a Ainol Spark 9 updated to 4.2.2 with TWRP recovery. It turns off suddenly and when I try to turn on appears boot loop. I tried to update via PhoenixSuit pressing home button, conecting USB cable to PC and pressing 10 times nothing happens, Phoenix does not recognize the tablet.
Any suggestion? there is any way to hard reset the tablet pressing buttons?

Try reinstalling the rom and then, before rebooting, wipe the dalvik again. Others were having the same problem (with the Onda V972 - the same tablet) and this seemed to sort them out.

Well, my Spark died as you know so I contacted to seller online who sold me the device about my problem. Then they ask me for some info and pics showing the issue I sent back the tablet to warranty replacement and a couple months later they sent me a new tablet. I just spend the cost of shipping to China, that's all.
hard reset
When the tablet is completely off
1. Hold the Volume down button
2. Press and hold the power button. You will see a battery appear and a hear a beep shortly after. Release after about 15 seconds.
3. The device will now boot into boot loader with ability to hard reset.

hi All,
my SPARK 9, AINOL NOVO tablet started freezing repeatedly, and kept displaying that apps downloaded from google playstore were no longer compatible and stopped working. soft factory resets did not solve the problem as the apps kept misbehaving as before. i had to force close it after another episode of freezing by pressing down the power button. after this, the tablet did not come on again.
the tablet now shows the following symptoms:
1. not recognized by PC or phoenix software
2. does not display battery charging icon when connected to charger but tablet becomes warm after some time.
3. i have read that in order for phoenix software to recognize the tablet, one must use a screwdriver to bridge certain pins, but before proceeding , the pin configuration of the chipset in the tablet should be identified -as my tablet is also AINOL, but the spark 9-so i am posting the chipset pictures, pls if this procedure will work with the spark 9 kindly assist. i have tried to upload the pictures of the motherboard showing the two NAND FLASH chips on board, but the link does not display paths on my laptop but rather a URL.
there are 2 flash NAND's on the motherboard with these serial numbers"
SK hynix
H27UCG8T2BTR
BC 309AA
M12KG9320H & M12KH8120H
i have downloaded this rom: Novo9-Spark-LX-20130422v1-1, i hope to flash it to the tablet once phoenix can recognize the tablet.
thanks.
thanks.

[Q] Nexus 7 1st Gen - APX Mode suddenly

HELP!
1st gen Nexus 7. Came home today and found it in the google 4 color boot loop swishing the balls around and around. I don't remember rebooting it or installing any updates, so I just let it run.
20 minutes later- still there.
I powered it off, press the down+power, get to the restore- only to get 'system command not recognized' (unfortunately I didn't write it down, but it showed a flat android with a red ! over the open chest).
Kids started screaming about some trauma... came back... tablet was black. Tried rebooting- nogo. Tried powering up/down- nogo. Hold power for 2 minutes, all buttons, no buttons, down, up, etc- nothing.
Plugged it into the PC- get a 'APX mode', but still no screen and no power charging logo.
I've had the damn thing for not even 3 weeks. Can't even tell you what the last update was but it wasn't lollipop as I hadn't seen that yet when my nexus 4 got updated 2 weeks ago.
No, I didn't do wheelie or any backups because I hadn't made any changes to the system. I've got nothing.
32gb model. Don't know what else I can get off of this brick.
Yes, I've read all the threads I can find on APX mode- installed android toolkit, tried to find the dropbox files to get the windows restore- nogo.
I'll take any suggestions or ideas. And no, I really wasn't f-ing around with it either- it's for the 6 year old kid who needs work on sight words and math... I don't need to be running crazy stuff on it... (Feel free to move to appropriate forum as I only saw Nexus 7 2013)
Anyone? Bueller ?
Did I post in the wrong forum? Or am I really just SOL?

[Q] Did my daughter ruin my HDX7?

A week ago, my 2 year old daughter was using my HDX7 under her profile. It was set up using Amazon protocol and she did not have administrator access. When my wife looked a few minutes later, she saw a gray Kindle Fire logo and the word 'erasing'. It was stuck in that mode for about 2.5-3 hours. Finally, my wife called Amazon 'tech support' who gave her a bunch of instructions about holding down the power button and volume button. She followed their instructions, and a gray logo appeared with the word '[fastboot]' on the screen. It has been like that ever since. Upon numerous calls to Amazon, they have accused us of rooting the Kindle. It has never been rooted before. No one in our family knows how to do this. Also, this just happened 35 days after the warranty. There seems to be nothing Amazon can do. Apparently, I can't even send it in to Amazon for them to repair. They claim they don't fix them (even though they sell refurbished ones).
I have tried following numerous forums with failure. ADB gives me a 'device not found' error and any other attempts have said, 'flashing not allowed on hw." I would be happy just to have it working again. If anyone knows how to fix this, it would be greatly appreciated.
Oh snap. Since ADB doesn't work and Amazon won't help you, I am not sure what you can do. Try using fastboot on Android SDK, make sure the device is on the [fastboot] screen, or try holding done the power button in till the device turns black, then wait a minute then hold down the power button or press it and it should show the kindle fire screen, then wait for it to load. Hope this helps!

Stock Kindle Fire HDX 8.9 - Boots to OS/Reboots after 15-30 seconds

My Aunt has a totally stock Kindle Fire HDX 8.9 that has an usual problem.
When it is plugged into a computer it boots into the OS, I can unlock it, get to settings/browser etc, but after 30 seconds or so it reboots.
I've tried holding the power button for a minute, etc, but nothing has solved the problem.
Has anyone run into this before? What are my options? She tried to talk to Amazon, but the device is 16 months old and they were very little help.
Could this be a problem with the power button itself? I just can't figure out why sometimes it will boot all the way to the OS if that's the case?
Unlikely. Sounds like your Aunt's device is caught in a classic boot loop which can happen after a failed update. I would reach out to Amazon support given the device is 100%. If they can't fix the problem remotely they will often offer an exchange.

Blue screen !

My kindle Fire HDX 8.9 (2013) started acting weird today. Whenever I open an app and use it for sometime blue screen takes over the display and it restarts. So I did a factory reset, now I get the logo and upgrading Kindle screen and the blue screen takes over again. What should I do? P.S.: I never had any hassle with my Kindle till now and I was on 14.3.2.8 :crying:

Thinking it may have a hardware problem. Could be thermal given things work for awhile before the blue screen appears. If true not much can be done other than replace the mother/daughter boards.
Factory resets are always a bit of a crap shoot - although it should have been safe on stock 3.2.8. Assuming you were not running Safestrap...
Curious - did you block OTA (typically via HDX toolkit) or was your device exempted by Amazon following a user requested rollback? I have always been wary of the latter as Amazon retained the ability to push future 'updates' at their discretion.

I was exempted by Amazon following a user requested rollback. I don't have safestrap, just the root.
Update 1 : I did a factory reset, I got the Kindle is upgrading screen and the blue screen pops back and it turns off. Same thing happens again and again when I turn it on.
Update 2 : Now the device doesn't turn on at all, nothing on the display. I contacted Amazon and they told me to charge my device for 4 hours and revert back. I think my Kindle is dead . I was very happy yesterday that my kindle is getting Fire OS 5 and now this happens.

Sorry this happened. Although a hardware failure seems likely I wouldn't dismiss the possibility that Amazon pushed something in advance of FireOS 5 that borked your device. Timings are interesting.
