*** NanoROM 7.0.2 20170302 ****
=== See 2nd Post for ChangeLog ===
=== See 3rd Post for Kernel Settings ===
=== Disclaimer ===
Code:
This ROM is made for S6 G920F / G925F only
flash at your own risk, your warranty will be void (knox flag 0x1)
I'm not responsible if your device bricks or whatever.
=== What does TWOSP mean ===
TW = TouchWiz, OSP = Open Source Project. That's just same marketing-bull****-bingo-buzzword because this ROM contains lots of Open Source Software. Nothing serious.
=== Why yet another ROM ===
I'm one of those few users who experienced sudden random reboots after updating stock firmware after rooting their device. So the following huge text may contain a taste of drama.
No custom ROM or even Stock ROM did work for me, because PLOD(tm) (pink led of doom & Knuckles). Only working ROM is CM13, but that's lacking proper in-call mic (sometimes doesn't work) and Camera, so it's sadly a no-op.
So I was trying to figure out what goes wrong and try to build a ROM that does simply work for my device and not result in a myriad of random reboots. So here it is: my second customized stock android ROM (the first one was for some ARNOVA Tablet).
And since the ROM does now already exist, I was like:
"Hey, why not go to xda and publish it?"
Click to expand...
Click to collapse
so here I am. And maybe it will solve the issue for other users, too.
=== So what does cause those random reboots ===
I don't know exactly. No really, it's difficult to say. Next follows a list of my personal observations on my device. Other devices might behave the same or not (depending on what is wrong with the device).
So this observations might be what will help you to reduce or prevent the random reboots, but they also might not. Enough bla-bla, let's go.
What's not causing it:
xposed
supersu
user apps
Because bare stock ROM installed from KIES will do reboot randomly aswell. It's a mix of kernel (Hacker Kernel gives less than others), build.prop (stock gives less than customized), Google Apps and other bloatware. So picking out a specific issue is difficult.
I also found out that 'userspace' governor and power suspend mode improve stability across different ROMs, so this ROM does set them by default.
Of course devices that have severe hardware damage will still suffer from them, don't expect my ROM to do wonders to broken devices.
=== Why only G920F / G925F ===
Because that's the only model I own, I don't like blind support, but I added G925F kernel upon request.
There are many great multi-device ROMs outwhere to choose from.
=== GApps Vs. microG ===
This ROM allows you to choose between GApps and microG:
1. GApps
Usual Google Apps as you know them, nothing special to do.
2. microG
Open source Google Apps replacement. This ROM requires you to do the following steps prior to be able to use the Play Store:
Code:
- go to Settings > microG and activate:
- main screen:
- device check-in (for cloud messaging)
- cloud messaging (for app push messages)
- UnifiedNlp Settings:
- configure location backends:
- choose Mozilla and grant permissions
- configure address lookup backends:
- choose Nominatim
- reboot device
- enter Play Store and login as usual
- et voila: you're now on the most possible Open Source ROM for S6
(if we don't take the non-fully-functional CM13 into account)
- NOTE: if the Play Store does not show your already installed apps, or if it does
not show your purchased apps as purchased, got to Settings > Apps >
System Apps > Play Store and force stop it, then it'll properly work
- NOTE: if you get random reboots with microG: disable account sync

not included because reasons, but still cool:
Easy XKCD (F-Droid)
Overchan (F-Droid)
KeePassDroid (F-Droid)
Play Permissions (Xposed)
Play Store Changelog (Xposed)
=== Notes ===
You need to install Xposed Framework separately (not bundled)
Recommended recovery is arter97's TWRP version 3.0.2
I recommend disabling wifi during standby (that is, if you don't have mobile network active during standby) Play Store auto-updates, that usually improves stability for me
If you installed GApps: I also recommend disabling Google ads and Google app verification in Settings > Apps > Google >> Ads / >> Security (because I don't like those "features", call me a tinfoil head )
Further I recommend doing a TWRP backup after everything is setup and working fine (so that you can revert to a working state any time)
If you're on GNU/Linux, I recommend using gMtp for file transfer. ADB sometimes gives weird file permissions.
=== Issues ===
A List of issues, all minor, but I'll still look into them, if I get some time to do so:
You currently need to manually enable supplied Xposed modules (and restart your device).
Don't create a new routine in Good Lock. This triggers some bug in it that causes uninstallation and leaves you without System UI (black screen, no statusbar and launcher, etc).
? You tell me.

=== Future ===
As my goal is to get my S6 properly working, I'm not going to add new features without heavily testing them and I won't rush out any update because of a new change set.
I just wanna use my S6 properly (though I do have a Moto G 2015 aswell, but still).

Kernel Stuffz
=== Kernel Settings ===
For NanoROM you don't need tools like Synapse or Kernel Adiutor to modify kernel settings. It comes with it's own script to manage kernel settings.
/system/su.d/999kernel
=== Configuration Files ===
By default the script has three pre-set configuration files:
/system/etc/kernel/arter97.settings arter97 kernel/system/etc/kernel/hacker.settings Hacker Kernel/system/etc/kernel/stock.settings Samsung Kernel
depending on your installed kernel the correct pre-set is loaded. Your own configuration needs to go to
/system/etc/kernel/custom.settings User Settings
it will always be loaded in favour of the pre-set configurations.
If you don't want the script to do anything, create an empty file:
/system/etc/kernel/disabled.settings
and reboot, then the kernel default values will be used. Remove that file and reboot to let the script do it's work again.
=== File Format ===
The format of the configuration file is simple
Code:
option=value
for non-array values and
Code:
option=( key1 value1
key2 value2
... ... )
for array values (currently only the voltage table is an array).
=== Possible Options ===
The script covers most relevant options you might want to tweak. Note: even if the installed kernel does not support all settings, your configuration file must include all options, to ensure the script is properly working.
Thus I recommended copying over one of the pre-set configuration files and modify it to your needs. Next follows a list of possible configuration options.

I'll push an update later today, because I noticed my Synapse profile is not auto applied. It changes some settings that improve stability on buggy devices.
Depending on my time I may either provide edge hacker kernel as separate zip or digg into aroma.
Also on todo list:
- auto enable xposed mods
- auto grant root for Synapse
- update f-droid

Hello!
My 920F is definitely doing random reboots and random freezes.
I will try your ROM tonight, I think, and I hope that this is going to solve my problems.
But I also have a question: Why is my 930F restarting in the last 5 days?
I mean, I ' ve installed a ROM from XDA a month ago and it worked really fine until 5 day ago?
Is there any way to find out why it keeps restarting and freezing? Maybe a log?

Did you try a factory reset? A logcat might be helpful, but if it's a hardwate issue, it won't show anything.

Not yet, testing still in progress, a small preview of what will be changed (not final):
Code:
apps:
- update F-Droid (0.100-alpha3)
- update K-9 Mail (5.010)
installer:
- auto detect whether device is zeroflte (SM-920F) or zerolte (SM-G925F) and install correct Hacker Kernel version accordingly.
- fix busybox installation
- fix TWRP progressbar
system:
- remove test applications
- show NanoROM version in software info
- by default make the home screens empty
- by default apps are now sorted alphabeticaly
- other minor tweaks
there are still a few more possible changes, but I'm not sure yet whether they'll come with the next update or the one after.

Yes.
On other note:
Hmm... Update takes a bit longer, still need to sort out some things. In the download folder you'll find my Synapse profile. Using this on a buggy device greatly improves stability.
Anyone else having the issue that Synapse does not see the Profile after putting it into /sdcard/Synapse/saved_profiles?
IF YOU'RE COMING FROM ANOTHER THREAD OR SITE, AND RUNNING THESE MODULES ON A DEVICE OTHER THAN A 3/3T, DON'T POST YOUR ISSUES HERE!
THESE WERE STRICTLY CONFIGURED FOR THE 3/3T ON OXYGEN OS!
Here are a few I've put together after snooping around the OnePlus threads and converting various mods into modules.
These modules WILL NOT work on Magisk builds older than 13.
I have a folder of modules for Magisk 11 and older (no longer maintained, nor supported) at the end of this post.
Requirements:
- Stock OxygenOS 4.1.6, Open Beta 12, or newer.
- Magisk 13.3 installed by following the installation guide: https://forum.xda-developers.com/apps/magisk/official-magisk-v7-universal-systemless-t3473445
After installing, download any module and flash in TWRP.
NOTE: None of these modules are SystemUI or framework mods as doing such have potential to cause soft bricking, leading to doing a factory reset.
Magisk modules
Google Pixel Launcher with Essentials and Extras v2.0
Includes Pixel Launcher, along with the Google's Wallpaper Picker, and the Live Wallpapers APKs from the Google's Pixel factory image.
v2.0 Changelog:
- Updated the module to conform to Magisk 13.1+ template

Busybox Installer 1.27.1
Created by @osm0sis, this version of Busybox has never given me any problems during my use. Highly recommended.
Simply flash in TWRP. The installer will detect Magisk, build the module, and install it.
Be sure to disable Busybox in the Magisk Manager app, followed by rebooting to make use of this.

Very helpful thread thanks
is your snapdragon camera extremely buggy? Only a few features work for me.
Most of the mods just need root..can be SuperSU also..
Pretty nifty stuff. I'm assuming you can't make a center clock magisk module, can you?
Thanks for the modules! The ones I've downloaded so far seem to work except for the Snapdragon camera, which doesn't open.
Edit: nevermind the camera works after granting permissions manually.
You might want to consider adding these modules to the magisk repo.
@Spasticdroid how would you compare your aptx module to this one? https://forum.xda-developers.com/apps/magisk/magisk-oneplus-3-aptx-res-audio-t3541904

For the center clock mod, I assume that would fall under modding SystemUI.apk or OPSystemUI.apk. I've tested a few mods from this sub-forum in the form of modules, and ended up having to factory reset my phone after disabling that module.
As for the codec, this one has the APT-X HD library included.
Thanks a lot for this awesome thread and these infos
all works like a charme
I installed the Root, Busybox and the Magisk as recommended in your walkthrough.
I'm especially interested in Viper, but I have an Issue. It seems that the effect will apply to all other apps (youtube for instance), but not to Google Play music. I tried playing with the settings... My selinux is permissive, the drivers are fully activated (viper), but I fear it has to do with the fact that google play music tries to access the OP3T's standard equalizer, which cannot be bypassed by Viper.
If I were to take a wild guess, I'd say that replacing the menu from /Sound/Audio Tuner from the default OP3T to Viper should help Google Play music. Any ideas?

Long post reply about GPM here: https://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=70804660&postcount=11
Short reply, run ViPER as "Compatible" under FX Compatible Mode for use with GPM.
I've tried disabling anything that has remotely anything to do with audio, which seems to be Dirac and Dirac Control Service on this phone, to solve the issue, but no go.
Also, you don't have to run your kernel in Permissive with this module of ViPER. It's already set up to allow running in Enforcing.

Disable or uninstall the magisk mod
Hey great work! Thanks for this.
I do have a question though, what's the difference between your Google assistant vs the one available to download within magisk?
Thanks!

I never bothered with the download menu in Magisk, but I just took a look, and mine does the same thing the one on the Magisk repo does, which is adding the "ro.opa.eligible_device=true" to build.prop, and not spoofing a phone as a Pixel. Something a lot of older non-Magisk mods do.
Same with the EmojiOne module.
As for the Controller Keylayout module on the repo, it's also similar, except mine has the keylayout files for the Nvidia Shield Controllers included.

Not doing that as that requires System UI and/or framework-res.apk modding. Similar reason why is explained in this post: https://forum.xda-developers.com/on...gisk-modules-oneplus-3t-t3548446/post70826963

Installation procedure
IS MANDATORY TO BE ON ANDROID 12 FVG1 FW BEFORE FLASHING BR 1.8 !!!
0) Backup ALL your important files to PC, ext drives, etc
1) Download and copy the latest BR ROM zip into your external storage or USB stick if you're on stock fw encrypted
2) Download latest FVG1 stock FW for your phone model and unpack it on your PC
3) Boot in download mode (Vol Up + Vol Down + plug the USB cable connected already to PC) and load up Odin on PC
Don't use USB adapters otherwise you might get issues flashing FW in Odin
Turn off Auto Reboot in Odin
4) Select files BL, AP, CP & HOME_CSC (keep data)
**do not start flash yet
5) Download Android 12 compatible TWRP (twrp_FVEA_vbmeta.tar) from above link.
6) Add the above twrp + vbmeta patched.tar file into the USERDATA slot in Odin
7) Uncheck the auto reboot option in Odin and start the flashing
8) When flashing completes (keep usb plugged in !!!), hold Vol Down + Power buttons and then as soon as the screen goes black hold Vol Up + Power buttons to boot to recovery
*be warned first time you boot into recovery it will initialise and then reboot so just keep the buttons Vol Up + Power buttons pressed longer
**if you boot in stock FW, your data will be encrypted and you'll need to wipe your data before flashing BR 1.x
9) When boot in TWRP, wipe your data if you're encrypted, flash BR 1.x zip and then reboot to system
10) After the first boot, install Magisk Manager if necessary; when you'll start Magisk Manager for the first time, reply with YES (agree to reboot) after MM have setup your root environment
*after reboot, go to Magisk Manager settings and toggle On Zygisk
10) Enjoy....
1. Backup to PC all your important files: documents, pictures, contacts, SMS, etc. BEFORE starting to flash anything
2. If you have issues booting the ROM, try the clean flash
3. Starting with Android 11, to boot into TWRP you need to use a USB cable connected to PC (same as DL mode) or a USB stick
4. If you like my work, consider buying me a coffee (PayPal link)

So the root for N985F is the same procedure and use the latest magisk canary?
Correct but this rom only supports 986B.
Do you think i can get root if i just flash the twrp+vbmeta then flash magisk on twrp? Thanks in advance
That's correct but you'll need to format data and run the multidisabler.
Where can i get the multi disabler file? Sorry for asking too much if this rom would just work on my n985f i would flash it just to have root access.
[Pie/10/11] [System-as-root] Multidisabler: disables encryption, Vaultkeeper, auto-flash of stock recovery, proca, wsm, cass, etc.
The multi-disabler started life on the Exynos S10 range, the first Samsung devices to launch with Android 9 (Pie). Since then, it has grown to support a great many Samsung devices running either Android 9, 10 or 11, and with either an Exynos or a...
