Hi. As you can see the title of the thread, how do I unlock the bootloader and root my honor 7C? I tried the official bootloader unlock code but it doesn't work. Tried the 2nd imei but same code. If anyone could help me, I would really appreciate any help.
Wow!
Really?! Are you kidding me right now? How is it possible to root a phone with locked bootloader? Why did you even bother to answer if you didn't know anything about android? You just went on google, copy pasted this answer from some random site and called it a day. Wow!

My bad, guys over 4PDA forum unlocked it using HCU Client not DC-Unlocker
IMPORTANT: Before proceeding, enable "manufacturer mode" on your phone. This is done by entering in dial pad code *#*#2846579#*#* select "Project Menu", "Background settings", "USB ports settings", "Manufacture mode". Then connect it to PC and Hisuite for drivers.

I have the unlocked version of this phone. I don't see anything about root or unlocking the bootloader? Really all I want is root so I can run Network Signal Guru...
Good morning,
unfortunatly I checked yesterday and wrote also to the dev... it is still not available from Official LG Web site.

Unlocked versions is about the carrier is unlocked meaning it doesn't have a carrier/plan locked with it. It doesn't mean it have an unlocked bootloader. If you really want a unlocked bootloader phone in 2020, get OnePlus or Xiaomi, they are more dev friendly.
Also, with LG's history of supporting developers, this will not likely to get unlocked bootloaders later.

I think Motorola is dev friendly too. My friend say they give everything to root her phones. ??
I don't think someone will find a way to root the LG phones after the V30 model. My old phone before my new G8x was the V30 and it was complex to root, so I don't know for the most recent models ??*
I downloaded Treble info from play store and this is what I get;

This doesn't mean it is rooted. It is probably used for LG to do Treble thing.

I know but it shows that systemless root could be used and GSI roms could be used if twrp and root can be achieved.

Yea, you are right. But you guys won't get unlcoks and root anyway because you know LG's history. But it is a possibility that LG might allow that 1-2 years later.
Can we unlock the bootloader on the G8x with this method?

It seem that this tutorial from LG work with the LG G7. But, I wonder if it work on the most recent model.

You don't need network signal guru. There's some secret code that you can get from a simple google search to get into the secret field test menu. It gives all the network related info and let's you lock on to specific 4g bands as well.
LG supports G850EMW for G8X as well as V50s. I already received unlock.bin.
A bigger problem is extracting boot.img from the stock ROM. The latest LG KDZ Extract tool is from 2014 and doesn't handle the new DZ format.
Using the 'KSZ extractor for new format KDZs' by runningnak3d I could extract boot.img from a G850EMW20a ROM (Android 10). This will allow systemless root with Magisk.
Dec 15: rooted.

You also need to update to much better firmware. By the time last Oreo was released, lots of camera improvements and new features added. Plus, rock stable.

For bootloader unlock and root, you at least TEMPORARILY need firmware with fastboot flash commands and early Oreo firmware where the bootoader exploit is.
That's what the WTF instructions are all about. To get everyone to that same starting line. Some variants (like VS996) don't have fastboot flash commands while others (like US998) do. So, some variants (like VS996) have to temporarily flash to US998 (Frankenstein), while the variants who already have fastboot flash commands (US998, H930*) just need to make sure they are on early Oreo.
After they all unlock bootloader with the code, then they can all return back to their carrier firmware (through TWRP flashable zips) or update back to newer firmware if they are already on their desired variant firmware.
When you read the WTF Instructions, it's a decision tree. If you have A, go to B. If you don't have A, then go C. Just pay attention to the scenarios that apply to YOU. By the time you get to Section 5, then EVERYONE is at the same place and can run the bootloader unlock code. But besides the actual bootloader unlock, there's also Section 7 Troubleshooting Tips. Section 9 for updating back to newer firmware. Lots of others stuff. It's a comprehensive document.
Read in a web browser, not an app. Apps like XDA truncate entire sections for some reason. Print out and use as a checklist.

Yes. I've been rooted ever since the update. I got an XT1941-4 but root is the same.
Either flash magisk patched boot through fastboot or boot twrp and flash magisk from there, but the last option would require you to format data first, which is why I prefer patched boot for rooting this device.
Ofc bootloader must be unlocked first.

Greetings to all fellow users and community,
I just bought an Spanish Retail version for Edge+, but I'm using it for Mexico carriers. The version I've bought is for TIM carrier. Would I brick my moto Edge+ if I manually flash Stock Firmware from Mexico (Open Version or Retail Version) ?
Any comments and advise is appreciated
Cheers!

Thanks for so quick response, appreciate it. That wouldn't be problem since I already have bootloader unlocked for flashing. My concerns would be bricking the phone due to differences in basebands or vendor files, for example.

You can just flash the radio firmware, it is a little safer.
Flashing the Radio Firmware
it's a good idea to run
Code:
fastboot getvar all
before flashing anything and keep a copy of it, for reference later.

Hey it's me again,
What would be the difference between using lenovo's rescuing app against the manual procedure using fastboot?
I come from xiaomi, where to be able to replace partitions like Vendor, you should put the phone in EDL mode in order to be able to flash/replace those partitions...
Wonder if with moto edge+ there's some considerations in place...
Thanks again

The advantage of LMSA is automation and access.
LMSA can check the device, determine the correct firmware, and download that firmware from a Motorola Server.
All the other sources of firmware are 3rd party.
LMSA can use the included flashfile.xml that contains the recommended flash commands.
Flashing manually with fastboot.exe requires opening the flashfile.xml and figure out the correct commands.

There's been very little development using Moto EDL mode.
It's almost exclusively used with a blankflash to rescue the device.
