Hello everyone, i am really sorry if this is the right place to comment about this. I have an S21 Exynos 2100 SM-G991B/DS phone.

After the glue for the back cover came off recently, i sent the phone in to Samsung Authorized Service Center and they verified the phone is water resistant. Then, i recently spilled water onto my phone and the phone freakin suffers from water damage.
So, i had it repaired by Samsung Authorized Center but they said that main camera assembly is damaged and quoted me $113 to change main camera assembly as it is not covered under warranty. So, i did not ask for the camera to be replaced just yet. Keep in mind that i live in Malaysia and the wage here is pretty low.
As i am tight for budget, i ordered main camera assembly from an online shop and replace the camera myself. But after the package came, i see that the new sensor that i bought is made by Sony judging from the flex cable and i assume the old one is a Samsung Isocell camera. After installing the new part, the phone can now use front camera to unlock the device, but, the camera app still says "Camera Failed" warning.
LEFT SIDE: SONY IMX Sensor
RIGHT SIDE: Originally came with the phone (assume Samsung ISOCELL)
Just replaced the module.
I did check for the new camera firmware but it only says "NG" as seen here.
I wanted to try to flash the camera firmware with something like this but i don't know where to start. I tried unlocking bootloader but after enabling OEM Unlock, i am not able to unlock it through download mode. I researched about this and turns out that Android 12 on Samsung can't be bootloader unlocked. (Maybe there is a way but i don't know it yet)
Things i tried,
1. Reflash Stock Rom with Odin.
2. Tried to update camera firmware with command *#34971539# but Phone to Cam FW Write is greyed out.
Things i will do if i can't fix it,
1. Ordering new main camera assembly ( Samsung Isocell )
2. Return the Sony IMX sensor back to the seller before 08/07/2022 ddmmyy
3. Sell the phone and buy a second hand S21 or S22 ( Limited Budget, maybe won't )
So, in conclusion, is there anyone with a guide or something that i can follow or try to fix this camera without sending back the Sony IMX sensor?
I really wanted to experiment with this part because i am sure this would greatly help any future development or self repair of this device and prolonging the life of the device if someone ever came across this issue later on.
Thank you for reading this rather lengthy post. I hope to hear from someone soon!
Update: No need to send the camera back to the seller as the seller proposed to refund half of the cost. Anyone have any idea how to make it work?

Has anyone had any success getting a replacement device out of Dell after having a bad LCD? (not dropped just defective) or any issue for that matter?
Just got my streak through work friday and within 2-3hrs noticed a few bad pixels in one corner. Over the weekend they seem to have been bleeding and have spread to 2x the size of the notification bar so far.
The device has definately not been dropped, mashed, on squeezed or anything similar. The LCD and Glass are NOT cracked.
Anyway, like I said, got it though my work, they area a very large OEM Dell customer (got a batch of Streaks direct from Dell). We even have access to warranty parts direct and whatnot. So yea, do they even replace these things? Anyone have any ideas as to how to approach this since it's obviously a defective device? How long does it take if they even do replace it? Thanks!
It's clearly defective, you've had it for only a few days and it shows no signs of damage. Call DELL or whoever is handling that type of situation at your company. You should've tried that before asking.
I called them today. They are doing advanced replacement RMA. I asked here first because upon searching I had found several people who had issues getting service with defective/broken LCD's, Didn't know if there was anything specific I would need to do in order to be successful and not denied for causing damage (not the case) like others had
Heres some pics of what the screen is doing. It stated as a spec in the bottom left corner and has been growing daily.

The top earpeice bezel is poorly attached and coming loose.
I also noticed scratches all over the factory screen sticky cover when I opened the phone. I really really think this thing was a refurb...
Anyway, did advanced RMA. Hoping the replacement unit does not have similar problems.
Just updating this for future reference if anyone has questions about the process.
I got the replacement device within 4 business days of request. The replacement was obviously a refurb and has blatant damage on the back panel. It appears someone tried to remove the battery cover forcefully with some sort of tool. Also, the charge/data port is faulty and causes constant battery/charger errors to appear.
So in summary, yes, you can get a replacement device so long as there is no blatant user induced damage on the original device. But you WILL get a refurb, and evidently their QC is not the best, so good luck getting a good replacement. They are sending me a 2nd replacement, hoping for the best, but not expecting much at this point =/
They told me that they would send you a new replacement if you're within 21 days of delivery of the original phone.
Hey guys, this morning my phone's screen started acting up when I was using the browser and later when I was using the keyboard, certain letters wouldn't work. I then got Touch Test from the market to see what was wrong with it, and I found that taps along the center line dividing the screen left and right did not register properly. I applied some pressure to that part of the screen and saw rainbow patterns beneath the digitizer on the LCD screen. When I pressed elsewhere though, no patterns appeared. So I am wondering if my Atrix has a loose digitizer and whether replacing the digitizer would fix the issue.
Thanks!
well, if you would have searched, you have found that there are already at least a couple of threads for this same topic. Now there is another one. You probably have a bad microprocessor for the touch screen. Search and you will even find some very helpful pics that show what is involved in swapping out the digitizer.
Thanks for the input but I did go through a search and had I found posts where the ops who reported the issue had actually resolved the problem, I wouldn't be posting here... also I'm not here asking for instructions to swap the digitizer because I can YouTube it, I'm here to ask if people who had similar issues before were able to fix the problem by replacing the digitizer...
But then again, I guess its easier to assume that all thread starters haven't done the research and just tell them to do a search everytime.
I just had the same issue, and actually in the same location on the middle of the screen. Since I'd unlocked & rooted the thing, I figured I had voided my warranty and wouldn't be able to get a replacement, so I bought a replacement digitizer to do it myself. After 2+ hours of work, the screen ended up being more dead than before. Digitizer replacement isn't easy, I'll tell you that.
So instead I flashed a fruit cake, took it to the local AT&T store with a repair/warranty center, and they replaced it on the spot. It's a known issue for the phone, so they didn't bat an eye.
Hell, I didn't even buy the thing from AT&T in the first place (got a better price at Walmart), and they still took it, no questions asked.
So if you're on AT&T, try a repair center. If you're not in the US... maybe your carrier will do the same? Hard to guess.
I didn't think warranty from att was still effective so i did an rma for motorola. They take 5-7 days, leaving me without a phone . Called att &have it was still under warranty and there is a service center in Tampa. Did the repair order on phone, took unlocked phone there and they swapped it out. Get home tofind the phone does not see the sd card. Called att back and squeeled like a stuck pig. They mailed me a replaicment. The screen is not set good and get a little bleed from the lower left corner of screen. Havent decided wether to keep it or not. Lousey quality control.
That's what i think too .

Hello guys!
Here's what happened. My friend has a I9300 which he'd bought in Germany. He is in India at the moment and his Gorilla Glass cracked on the screen due to a fall from about 30 cms. Display & touch was working fine even after the Gorilla Glass was cracked. So today he took it to a Certified Service Center to get the repair done, they replaced the display panel on his Pebble Blue S III with a replacement part of the display panel from the White S III.

After the service, the phone is turning on, but the touch isn't working anymore. Any idea what might have happened? I'm 100% sure that the touch was perfectly alright before they serviced it. I am going to effing sue that service center if they do not rectify their mistake. But before going into rage mode I want an opinion from you guys. Kind souls, please help!
Edit 1: He had a custom ROM on the phone when the display was changed. Would it be possible that the display driver got corrupted or something? I am going to flash the stock 4.1.2 ROM. Will keep you guys posted.

you have the right to demand! no stepping back!
One a Samsung service repair should have tested before giving the phone back.
Two don't start flashing stuff as they may well say that's not the firmware it had when it left hear in working condition .
Take the phone back and complain that the repair was faulty .
jje
The technician might have forgotten to connect or improperly connected the touch grid sensor. Im pretty sure those wires are different from the wires driving the display. Send the device back to the svc center
Sent from my GT-I9300 using xda app-developers app
I have noticed , my LG G5 have problem with screen ghosting/burn-in

can fix this issue without changing screen ?
This issue is fairly new but it happened to me last night. Might be a software issue but I told verizon warranty techs last night about the issue and they suggested a few things before sending me a replacement. Hopefully this will get resolved.
So the screen issue is under warranty, but LG wants a few things done. Call your carriers warranty and see what they say about the issue. Verizon wants me to do 4 things before issuing a warranty phone.
Do you opened your phone for any reason ? I was also having same type of blue spot at the lower right corner after I replaced camera lens. In my case i think it happens due to over pressure on the screen from behind by back cover or something else. So i loose the screws at the bottom of the screen. Due this 60 percent of blue spot fade away.
ok, this issue is known! You can find more informations about at other threads and forums.
See here for LG G5 German forum -> http://www.android-hilfe.de/thema/displayflecken-nach-langem-aktiv-sein.790992/page-3
(sorry, but it is only available in German! Please translate by using Google!)
and of curse:
here for new display: ->https://forum.xda-developers.com/lg-g5/how-to/panel-vs-panel-series-t3480270
here for V10: -> https://forum.xda-developers.com/tmobile-lg-v10/help/ghost-images-screen-image-retention-t3395732
here for G4:- > https://forum.xda-developers.com/g4/help/screen-ghosting-lg-g4-t3451879
Suggested solution:
As i know, all you can do against that until now is to install the following app to prevent this problem:
-> https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.sisomobile.android.brightness_lite
switch "opacity" up to 15% and selected colour to "black"! That’s it!
But it couldn’t help, if your display IS affected!
As i have read in the German forum, there are two user they tried to use here warranty but LG has not accepted until now.
BTW: This issue is found on G5 devices they where produced in 3->5 / 2016. Newer devices have a new display without this problem but taking more battery power for it. And V10 and G4 seems to be also affected.
You can see the production date at your serial number! The first number is standing for the production year. The second and third number are standing for the month.
So, you are not alone!
Actually they are doing a warranty replacement, both LG and Verizon for this issue. Getting replacement phone tomorrow.
This will only occasionally be repaired under warranty. It is a normal behavior for LCD screens. There are already 2 threads covering this issue extensively. Please use the search function the next time.
You can find working solutions in the other threads.
Btw LCDs can't have burn in. It is image retention as it can fade away and is non permanent opposite to burn in
There are other threads regarding this topic. Please search before posting.

So I purchased this phone used thinking it was an HTC One M8. My only interest in the phone was to install a Lineage based rom. It worked. And the phone claims to be an M8 in the "about" section in settings. But here's the strange part...
I received it without the top plastic faceplate. After using the phone for a while I decided to buy a replacement plate on ebay. I received it and realized it was a completely different shape and didn't fit the phone. This spurred my curiosity so I started researching the M8 and none of the photos I found matched the phone I have.
The back cover looks completely different. It doesn't detach and I can't access the battery. The front is a different shape. Even the holes on the back where the mic and speaker should be are different from the standard phone pics. The rear camera doesn't work so the only possibility I can think of is that someone took the guts out of an original and put them in a replacement shell.
Were there different versions of the M8? Can anyone identify this phone? Any idea why it varies so much from an M8?

I only know the HTC One (M8), for which we have an own device forum here that also contains links to some different OEM versions of the One (M8).
And here are some pictures on GSMArena where you could compare.
If you think you probably get more replies in the One (M8) forum let me know and we move this thread to there.
Looks like this one to me yours is on the left
