Hi guys.
The background: I bought a new tablet that removed the multi-user android feature () or, to better say, the feature is *hidden*.
The foreground: I'm able to recall the right screen calling the right activity and I'm able to create X users like expected.
Obviously the feature is removed (hidden) so also the user switcher icon is removed too.
Here come the development idea.
Build something quick tile? App with permanent notification? Actually no idea, but before thinking about the form, I need the base. How to switch user.
First of all: think you possibile to recall the user switch by call an intent/activity (I talk about the real switch, not the multi-user feature, that need to unlock the screen) maybe passing a static user value/ID?
Without intent/activity, how to achieve the result? I've experience in coding but totally new to android development, I never wrote a single line of code for our green robot.
I wouldn't but...

@Oswald Boelcke I wrote on dev forum after reading what you linked.. because I think it's a developing thing.. I'm talking about a solution to reach what I described by coding.. Not really a ckassic end-user question.
This involve coding skills, android developing skills, but obviously before I need to know if this can be done by a programmatically point of view.
Anyway.. If you think my post is better placed in Q&A, it's ok, it's just to explain.

I just done that, but what I found don't clarified so much my ideas.
What I found point me in a direction but it's not all clear to me.
Probably due to no experience of android developing.

It's doable but it complicates setup. I try to keep things as simple as usability allows... the KISS principal. Even in Windows I never used this feature... security be damned
Look around as there are other write ups on it that I've seen in the past. It's a lesser known feature of Android. Samsung may be a easier platform to do it with. Would setting up a Work account with Knox do it? I don't know... also search the Samsung forum.

Good morning, Sir.
Please believe me I was thinking a real long time if I should move the thread or not. But then your below quoted statement was the decisive factor. Please refer to the subtitleof the former forum:

Hi All,
Anyone ever think about how to change "OK Google" to something else? I'm thinking "Dammit Google!" would be fun. I'm a very experienced (old) embedded firmware developer, but I don't have Android experience. Several years ago I got the idea that I would have to compile the kernel to do this. I went down a rabbit hole of obsolete Java development kit installations until my Linux computer didn't work anymore. My take away from that was that I should have used a virtual machine for an Android development environment, but I didn't pursue it at the time.
Could anyone give me some pointers about what it might take to change "OK Google" to something else? I'm feeling motivated again.
Thanks,
Dan
Oh, should have Googled first. Is this it? https://forum.xda-developers.com/t/app-4-1-v5-4-open-mic-for-google-now.2450131/

hah!.. meanwhile, I would pay for being able to get rid of Google App.
I only tolerated that useless app, In order to have Voice Typing in the my device.
Hi all
I am newish to the Android world but have been a programer in the embeded C world and before I start trying to resolve my issue I would like to know if I am just barking up the wrong tree.
I have been trying to replace a very old HP Ipaq 5700 that I use only for GPS purposes with something more modern and a larger screen for some time but although I got close it was not good enough as a replacement, the program I use is Memory map and their version for the Android platform was awful. I purchased a Ruggex Rhino two device that runs Lolipop 5.1 and got to the point where it would run the Memory map software and display the GPS data being sent from my Ublox GNSS receiver via bluetooth and it gave current location, but it was not good enough to use in the field. Memory map have now updated their program so it runs on Android, Windows and Linux and it is a much better user interface but requires Android 6 or later.
So having read about custom ROM's and getting Android updated is it possible to do this to any Android device such as my device bearing in mind it will only be used to receive a Bluetooth signal and run basic apps, no intention of fitting a sim as I need really good battery life.
If this is possible could someone please point me in the right direction, the device already has it's boatloader unlocked.
Thanks Roy

@Spectric2 No problem, Roy. It's good to have you onboard.
I just saw your post by accident. As I don't know how familiar you are with XDA, if you like to make somebody aware of your post you'd have to either mention that member or to reply to his post (what we also call to quote the member). I did both in my post above.

I hope this is the right forum.
Been lurking for a long time. Next month I will need an app for my Casio BLE watch (not a smartwatch).
The app would require investigation on communication since I have no documentation.
I know it's possible because there already exist a few app that do that, however for different Casio model.
Where would you post such an offer?
I've tried fiverr, to no avail.

I never heard of them, but those watches seem pricey to me (and I hate wearing a watch).
Since you're talking about a specific model the developer would need one.
Now, if you had a case of these watches and you could trust somebody, then I'd say offering a watch to somebody to develop an app for it could work.
Still, to make a fancy app to your spec is a ton more work than knocking off some quick-and-dirty watch link.
Bluetooth can usually be pretty easy to reverse engineer, especially if you have a similar Android app to disassemble.
I'm very curious about this, and I have some speculations but wanted to ask the question to get a better understanding. I use BlissROM, and I'm not worried about a time frame or anything like that, I'm just genuinely curious. I don't know if the Kernel would change, and if it did I imagine it would mainly be for security upgrades or something like that. Since the Kernel is the interface for the software to the hardware, and the hardware hasn't changed, is it right to assume not much change there?
Then there are all the google services like framework, play services and the like. I would think those would simply be replacing the old with new, and what would be left is integrating any features that are new to A13. If there is anything more to it than that? I imagine custom recoveries would face the same issue that TWRP had for awhile on my device (OnePlus 7 Pro) until a build was released that handled the decryption for A12. Other than that what else needs to be done to upgrade a ROM in between versions like this?

Hi there, I'm new here and I'm only a normal user without special ambition. I need a cheap phone or notepad for some stuff at home. That's why I purchased the mentioned tablet legally, declared broken. I's in fact not broken at all, it's a return from a company with password protected login. Therefore, I cannot use it for anything at this point. What I found in the internet did not work - all I can do is to restore the company settings, not the default ASUS Android and settings. Asus itself told me that was due to the former account not being removed. Only with the former user removed, they could go back to standard.
I don't intend to do anything special nor illegal. I'm not looking for the data of the previous company, I anyway think the tablet was never used before. Can you help me? Or, if I'm wrong here, just tell me where my request is more appropriate. Thank you!

Despites it may illegal, it seems you're the legit owner as of today. There exist multiple FRP bypass methods on youtube, but all these exploits are fixed over time and may no longer work on recent firmware. Therefore it's not a good idea to flash new firmware (it won't reset FRP anyway)
