Hello I have a Xiaomi Redmi Note 5 and I am trying to put a custom ROM on it. Can I get some help with the following questions.....
--I cant find the TWRP file for the Redmi Note 5. I can only find listed the Redmi Note 5A and the Redmi Note 5 Pro. I have checked my phone and it is listed as a Redmi Note 5, even after unlocking the bootloader. Which can I use?
--Also, I will want to use Lineage 15.1 on this phone but I am not sure what firmware files I need to also include when flashing. Any help with this?
Thank you!!!!

To avoid any confusion go to Play Store and download an app called "Device info HW" or other similar of your preference, open it and go to section system, then search for Product.
Oficial twrp for vince is available in this forum as a lot of custom roms.
Hi all, just a clarification, i have Redmi Note 5, why this thread is unified? Does it means roms for "vince" and "whyred" are the same?
No, this forum is for Redmi Note 5 and Redmi 5 Plus both with codename vince.
Redmi Note 5 Pro is known in China like Redmi Note 5 (whyred)
Redmi 5 Plus is known in India as Redmi Note 5 too (vince); This causes the confusion both receives same name depending from where they comes (or where they were released)
Whyred (snapdragon 636) has other specs than vince (625)

Thank you for the info on that. However, I am living in China and my Redmi Note 5 was bought here, so it is a lot of trouble to get the google play store and set up my VPN before flashing the phone with a new ROM. Is there another way to see what the phone name really is?
Also, any thoughts on my firmware question?
Thank you so much for the help!

Then most probably should be Redmi Note 5 pro, if you are rooted go with a root file explorer to system in root directory and find the build.prop file and open it in your device with any text viewer and find the line ro.build.product or something with word product, you will see vince or whyred

I was able to find another app in the Xiaomi app store that showed this info. My phone is whyred. The app name was Quick System info PRO, if others need to do the same. Thank you for the help!
Just wondering now about if I need to bother about including firmware when installing gapps and a custom ROM. Any thoughts on this?
Thanks,!

I'm not sure if I understood correctly, some roms need to be installed also the firmware in some cases and for aosp based roms most of times you need to flash the gapps too but don't worry about. Here is the forum for you specific model https://forum.xda-developers.com/redmi-note-5-pro and when you find a rom that matches with your preferences in the thread these steps might to be explained
So Reliance Jio recently announced their "Jio Note Series Offer" and I was wondering if it is possible to temporarily change my device model id to Redmi Note 7 and avail this offer. Can anyone guide me in this by directly explaining or sharing some relevant links? I am using Redmi Note 4x (3gb/32gb) and on Pixel Experience {Pie CAF} and rooted using Magisk.

Because you are on pie, Maybe you need to flash edXposed on your device! Just googling "edxposed on github", download it n flash! Its just like with xposed installer/framework! After installed it, search the " device changer" on edxposed manager, i dont know if its available on there, because i dont try edxposed yet. "Device changer is available on xposed installer so i can argue if it available on the edxposed repo too.
Okay I'll give that a try. Thanks
Hello. I am coming from a Galaxy Note 9, and I had VoLTE on that.
I currently have an EU version of the 7T Pro, and VoLTE doesn't work.
How can I tell if my device supports it? And is there a way to force it?
I checked my service provider's FDD-LTE bands, and my 7T Pro covers all of them.
Your device would have to be compatible with your carrier.
I have dual sim, so 2 carriers. Only 1 is supported for VoLTE. Not much you can do about it except ask your carrier.
Hi
for my provider (Vodafone Germany) its necessary to enable VOLTE by enabling them in the system config settings not available via menu. An easy way (in case you are rooted with Magisk) would be to install a magisk module doing this, I attached the one I use to this message...

This doesn't work, Magisk says "/data/magisk isn't setup properly!" when flashing the file, can you please show us where the system configs are? I'm trying to get VoLTE working as well. Thank you.

Thank you, got it installed, tried more SIMs from different carriers here in the Czech Republic, T-Mobile works, O2 does not, don't know why, it probably has to do something with what we discussed here https://forum.xda-developers.com/pixel-3-xl/how-to/volte-q-beta-6-t3963187 that O2 isn't mentioned in some files which I didn't find at all on OnePlus 7T Pro though...

I recall that with the OP devices I had before the 7 Pro VOLTE also didn't automatically work, even with the Magisk mod as this only activates it in the OS settings, but not in the carrier config on your phone.
There was a very helpful thread on a german android forum that outlined the steps to switch this config using a Qualcom tool, but that was for an OP6T and I'm not sure whether the basic procedure is still valid for the OP7T

Thanks a lot for your help, I would be very happy if I got VoLTE working, but this guide from this german forum didn't bring me any closer it seems, I can't even find the "VoLTE switch", "VoWiFi switch" and "VT switch" from step 1... I will be trying to do some research on it if there won't be some easy solution.. Strange thing is T-Mobile VoLTE works, but O2 doesn't, seems like a carrier issue, will try Vodafone some time soon.
I can find the Option under settings/WiFi+internet/Sim+Network/Sim1/VoLTE
Btw. I have O2, it's workig great.
Hello, Hello,
I have tried to to enable Volte and Vowifi with the magisk manager but I have failed to make the VoLTE and VoWifi to work with this way.I have tried a new simple way to enable them. You can download the attached file that is a Logkit that I have grabbed that from an article about activating this services for the OnePlus 7 Pro. I have tested that and I have enabled VoLTE(Greece-Cosmote) with success as you can see in the pictures. Its very simple and you will have to do these steps:
1)Download the attached Logkit
2)Install the Logkit
3)In the dialer type *#800#
4)Go to Oneplus Logkit and -> Function Switch
5)Enable VoLTE switch but don't reboot and enable VoWifi switch and then reboot.
After that you can enable from the sim card to have Volte and Vowifi , you can reboot and profit.
This solution has worked for me and I think that this is a good way to enable these services without magisk.
Works with Vodafone UK

I tried this on my Oneplus 7T Pro McLaren Edition and now I have working VoLTE on Vodafone UK - thanks!
For anyone interested... EE sims work out of the box (in fact you can't disable VoLTE easily for EE!)
I need a suitable profile
I try all profile but no one can make Volte work.
Hello,
100% working VoLTE & VoWiFi with Sosh carrier (Orange carrier digital brand) in France, with a 7t Pro McLaren Edition.
Many thanks!
On a side note for my 7T, does Volte have be in the banner , next to the signal, in order to work, Can I hide it and still be usable?
Thanks

All set, thanks!
Why is it that Redmi Note 8 Pro with the same CPU has a much more active Custom ROM community compared to Realme 6? Is it due to the display or because of Realme?

There isnt even a way to unlock bootloader yet. And with that no twrp either. So you cannot create custom roms as long as the phone isnt rootable.

Hello guys.
This i a simple guide to get 5G on the Oneplus Ace Pro 10T Indian Version.
Yes the one that you bought from amazon and don't want to return because you got the 160w special charger, even with 12GB Ram....
1- Download this app:
5G Switch - Force 5G Only - Apps on Google Play
Force only 5G or any other network mode.
play.google.com
2- Use the first method and change whatever setting you have to:
NR/LTE/TDSCDMA/CDMA/EvDo/GSM/WCDMA
Or
NR/LTE/TDSCDMA/GSM/WCDMA
And then just try calling to see that everything is working fine.
