Hi everyone,
I have had a LG G5 phone since april 2016. Even after the version of Android 7.1 was released for this model my LG says that the phone is updated to the last version: 6.0.1 and there's no new versions available.
Can I have any advice on how to get it updated? Is it necessary to reset properly the smartphone for it to update to Android Nougat 7.1?
Thanks
PS. Oh, I live in Italy

Not the android version, but the software version. For example the one on my phone is RS98821b
SOFTWARE INFORMATION
Android version: 6.0.11Patch security level:: 2016-06-01Based version: MPSS.TH.2.0.c1.4-00032-M8996FAAAANAZM-1Kernel verision: 3.18.20Build nr: MMB29MSW VERSION: V10dx-EUR-XX
I didn't buy the smartphone in a store close by, but through ebay. A guy sold it to me at a low price last year (May 2016) from Naples. Could this mean that the LG comes from other country and needs different way to update?
LG Bridge
This should work
I've just bought a used H850 in the UK (unlocked). It's running Android 6.0.1, and the software update checked tells me that there's no update available. Any idea how I can get Android 7 on this?
The hardware details are:
Model number is LG-H850
Hardware revision 1.0
Baseband version MPSS.TH.2.0.c1.4-00014-M8996FAAAANAZM-1.45732.6.48263.2
Kernel version 3.18.20
Build MMB29M
Software version v10c-EUR-XX
Check around the forum or go the LG Firmware site and you can download 7.0 for your phone and of course install it. Check other threads on how to do it.
I just tried LG Bridge. It found and installed an update, but I'm still on Android 6.0.1.
My software version is now v10dx-EUR-XX though.
The LG firmware update site just says to use the software update checker on the phone, which I've tried.
Is the KDZ file what I should be looking for??
I've just found a KDZ file on lg-firmwares.com which seems to be a UK version. Can anyone tell me whether this file can be safely flashed to my phone, which in an unlocked H850 running v10dx-EUR-XX:
H85020q_00_H3G_COM_OP_1206.kdzFile exist in our server
Hi all,
so I bought a V60 with DS yesterday, it was an open box but all the plastic still on device, like brand new and was able to test it and reset it to factory default before buying.
everything fine with setting it up but the phone doesn't update the security patch level..it says: you are using the latest software version for current OS.
patch level is from march 1 , 2020.
anybody knows what could be the issue.?? i've haven't found anything on this issue on the internet yet..
info:
model LM-V600EA (i think this is the Global unlocked version.?) my country is the netherlands and have a Vodafone SIM, i am able to make phonecalls and use data 4G+
software version v10f-EEA-XX
android version 10
buildnumber: QKQ1.191222.002
KERNEL 4.19.81
ive tried to use the LG Bridge software but when it want to update the driver it cannot make connection to the server.
when i want to install the driver by myself, it says that the os version (using a mac os catalina 10.15.6) is not supported...sigh..
looks like the unlocked version doesn't update.? the US verizon version have had several updates, even the latest august sec. patch level.
if someone could shed a light on this, or knows what is the issue...already very thankful.

--UPDATE--
hi all,
i succeeded with updating the phone.
I used a windows 10 laptop, installed LG drivers and LG Bridge software.
it found an update, downloaded it and installed it. whole process took about an hour. download was very slow.
now i have the July 1 security Patch update. (not the latest which is august, but ok, it's LG)
software version is now v10m-EEA-XX.
camera software also updated.
still wonder why the phone is not updating OTA.
BR
Mike
I have the American AT&T model and received the August 2020 patch as an OTA a few weeks ago.
Since receiving the phone around April 1st, I feel like we've gotten every other security update.
IIRC, something like March (came with it), April, June, and August. But my recollection is a bit hazy.
On t-mobile tje July security patch is the most recent release. We've also been getting every other month or so, so I am expecting an update sometime in September hopefully
still don't know why the OTA update was not working. maybe because I have an unlocked version of the V60.??
as (security) Updates are being pushed out by carriers, i had to update it via LG Bridge.
bi-monthly update check via PC it is then.
thanks ya'll!
I also have unlocked eu version same as yours and all updates on mine was done OTA, I'm on July at the moment.

do you also have the -XX in your software version.? I've read somewhere that XX on software LG phones indicates it's a test/demo model..maybe that explains why it was a open box when I bought it..
anyway..I was able to flash it with firmware V600EA10M_00, (NLD Region) ive used LGUP, hoped that the XX in the software version was removed but it isn't.
Also found a V600EA10K_00 version..Think Im gonna isntall this one and see if there's any difference, want to know what the K and M means in the firmware.
if anybody know what it means, let me know!
Thanks all!
Mine is LM-V600EA, V10m-EEA-XX.
I bought mine from Belsimple from Netherlands and actually use phone in United Kingdom on EE network. Definitely not test version. Letters in software version indicate release as lower letter then never software, same with other LG mobiles ( I had G3, G5, V30).

thanks for the info. so if i flash it with the K version, it would be an earlier version of the software and security patch level. then I leave it with this M version.
do you have an idea on why the OTA was not working for me then.?
as we both have an unlocked version and mine wouldn't update OTA. phone was on security patch level of 1 March "out of (open) the box" and on software version v10f-EEA-XX but OTA said I was on the latest version of OS.
When I opened nine from box first what I done I checked for updates and it's downloaded straightaway. Did you connected through WiFi or mobile network. Maybe updates are set to not download through mobile network etc. Also the way how software number show up it's mean that is unbranded fw, if you will have branding fw it will show something like v10f-234-30 (for UK EE network), mine unbranded eu open V30 also show similar to V60 where on v30 is v31a-EUR-XX (latest stock Pie)

Hello, my LG V60 LM-V600EA still has not received the security patch from September 1. I am in France where it isn't sold, I bought it on eBay (open box, new phone according to the German seller, the second screen was sealed), and English UK language, at startup (nothing abnormal).
Nothing by OTA, LG Mobile Support Tool and LG Bridge does not recognize my firmware: V10m-EUR-XX. No problem whith IMEI and serial number. I received it 10/02 but the downloaded update was July 1st.
I found this strange link on the internet: lg-roms.com(???) (I don't even know if I can trust)
The latest versions are Polish (POC) and Italian (VID) . In m we find the NLD version.
Question: if one of these rom works is it reasonable to flash by LGUP or I wait for LG to update the EUR version?
Thanks
hi, I sold mine so I cannot test or tell you on which security patch LG has pushed now to the v60. the Rom site you can trust, i've downloaded and installed the V600EA10M_00 ROM and installed it via LGUP tool. but it didn't made any difference. the software version, security patch date and build number stayed the same. Also didn't got any OTA updates..regarding the official firmware..the OTA suddenly was there when I had it in September. The LG bridge tool helped me to update it to the July sec. patch but LG Bridge tool was a bit of a ''''''[email protected]#$% to get it working correct (drivers, latetst version of the software, wasn't able to connect tpo the server error's etc) eventually it worked, but still after this no OTA....I would wait for LG to push the updates..maybe it's a comfort to know that LG is really 'lousy' with updates...couple of month's behind with Security patches is 'normal' You have to play the waiting game...Hope this helped, Best regards

Thanks for your help.
I took the risk of flashing the ROM in version n version VDI (since it works) because selling it now will not bring me much. Unfortunately (but logical) I remain in the EUR-XX version so goodbye to updates.
If the site remains update, I will always have the option of going through LGUP. Anyway VDI, POC, NLD, they are the same versions as the EUR that LG forgot (my LG V0 is however in global version EUR-XX).
Thanks again
If you read my previous post you will know by now that is nothing wrong with EUR-XX version. My current version is v10n-EEA-XX September security updates. All my updates done via OTA, mobile bought in Netherlands and still in use in United Kingdom.

The problem with EUR-XX, no update since 07/01. Nothing by OTA, LG Bridge doesn't recognize my Firmware and LGMobile Support Tool can't find a other update than m version. Nothing wrong ?
Edit: I try to install the m update and ... nothing : no upgrade to n the 11/12.2020.
You can try to remove sim card and try update without sim. I know that while ago orange UK blocked updates on some lg phones, once users insert different operator sim card mobile phone find updates immediately. I never had any issues with my v60 where this mobile is not in UK market, still working fine and update OTA.
If you still have issues try to use vpn for different country and update with lg bridge without sim card.

Unfortunately it's too late, these updates have messed up my LTE frequencies. In short, I am missing frequencies that make 4G + unstable in France. Now between 0 and 20 mb /s, before always 30/40 with EUR-XX firmware, watching YouTube has become hell without wifi,
my LG V60 is just an phone without a real LTE! (VDI, POC & NLD have this problem because I flashed in refurbish, it's my fault).
Otherwise OTA updates work fine but not beyond version m (EUR version). Now it's too late.
NB. 2 whole days trying to find a solution, I lost my time. I thought that the modem part was common between all European countries like for Samsung, with LG: NO!
Hi Folks,
According to the documentation I have, the FCC ID should able to be located by navigating to the Regulatory & safety item within Settings. There appears to be 2 options for locating this item. It is supposed to be displayed either under the General tab or in the About phone category of Settings.
However, it is not to be seen. Even doing a search doesn't reveal it.
The phone was new in a sealed box and has Android 7.0 installed with an Android security patch level of 1 November 2016.
Has anyone else had this problem and was able to solve it it?
Thanks!!
I can see the setting exactly where you said on my G5, with Android 8. Have you tried updating the phone to Oreo to see if you can get the info you need? Don't expect much, it only shows very basic info, at least on the OPEN_EU version.

Very interesting. Are you the original owner of your phone? If so, did it already have Oreo installed when you bought it? The documentation I previously referred to was from 2016 but Oreo was released in August 2017.
The LG SN & Carrier & Country Check, provided by IMEI.info, indicates it is an Israel variant and is associated with a Carrier in Israel (Carrier Code: ISR, Carrier: ISRAEL) which does not seem to make sense given that the phone was in a Sealed Box and supposed to be Unlocked. The same report also indicates it as having a Firmware File of H85030e_00_OPEN_IL_OP_0206.kdz and Firmware Version of H85030E_00 which indicates Android 8.
The list of Firmware, on the LG-ROMs website, also correlates with the Firmware File mentioned above.
Download LG Firmware for LG G5 LGH850 Android 8.x Oreo kdz stock ISR Rom

However, I'm not sure if the phone, I have, is a UK or Israel variant. The preselected Language was English. Preinstalled apps, such as Evernote, Facebook & Instagram, correlate with UK and Israel variants according to the respective User Guides. If it was an Israel variant, why wasn't the preselected language Hebrew one would be inclined to ask. The Israel User Guide contains both Hebrew and English versions.
After running an HDMI Connectivity check, the next step is to try an OTA (Over-The-Air) Update. The phone is in Oz. Would there be any problems attempting an OTA update for a phone that is not in its original region?
Does your phone correlate to the details on the following page which indicates a Region of EEE?

I'm making an educated guess that the "EEO", in the File name H85030e_00_EEO_GB_OP_1121.kdz, refers to the OPEN_EU version that you mentioned.
Thanks again.

I was not the original owner: I bought it second hand with Marshmallow installed, then I've upgraded to Nougat and then Oreo. I really don't remember how the FCC menu used to look on previous OS versions.

My neighbour bought a Huawei Phone online, and it was an Israelian variant as well. It was a new untouched phone, and I'm quite sure it didn't have Hebrew as default language on the first boot. It works with no problems in Italy. I think that the phone tries to guess the language to be used according to the SIM card: I have a couple of tablets made for the Italian Market, with no SIM card inside, that on first boot are set on English.

As long as you are sure about the model (H850), attempting an OTA or flashing a different variant for the same model is totally fine. Even in the case there are some incompatibilities between the Israelian carriers settings in the firmware and the carriers in the UK, they would be minor issues, such as the NTCODE error. Moreover, you would still be able to flash again a different variant using LGUP if you're not satisfied with the one you have.
EEO_GB by the way is not the OPEN_EU variant, that is called exactly OPEN_EU. I suppose that EEO_GB might be related to EE carrier in Britain.

It's definitely an H850.
Not looking to Flash any ROMs.
The phone is in Oz (Australia).
Would it be best to do the OTA update without a Local SIM card and just use a Wi-Fi connection to the Internet?
Can an "NTCODE error" happen after an OTA update?
Thanks!! again.

If you update the phone through an OTA update, the location shouldn't matter for the update process to complete. The phone will download the latest update available for its region. As the phone is in Australia and it's an Israelian variant, it will receive an Israelian update. So, as long as you use OTA updates, NTCODE error shouldn't happen. But don't worry, even if it happened, it would be just an annoyance, as it shows just once when you start the phone, but wouldn't affect the usage.
