How to fix fingerprint issues after root - LG G8X ThinQ Questions & Answers

I have just updated to a12 and rooted it.
The fingerprint sensor could react with my touch, but it keeps saying "cover the entire sensor" and could not register my fingerprint.
so... it is not disabled? since it still senses my finger
I have tried fix it by SAAT test, i can pass the WBOX test and BBOX test, but CHARTER test will just fail.
everything else is working properly

Fingerprint doesn't work after coming back from ColorOS

As in title. I wanted to try out coloros, everything was fine but i didn't like it so i restored my AEX backup. After that autorotating wasn't working, so i flashed sensorfix included in coloros thread on forum. Autorotating works but now i can't use fingerprint. Im able to set up my fingers but when i try to unlock phone it just vibrates (only once, then until i turn screen on it doesnt do anything) and nothing happens. What can i do to fix it? Should i flash stock firmware?
Flash 14.1 firmware

Workaround:-
Screen lock > Register unrecognized finger
and add patern/pin
then go to settings
and don't delete the fingerprints
but remove the screen lock itself
and then add screen lock and register fingerprint
I flashed stock rom via recovery (not fastboot). Can anyone tell me how is that possible fingerprint scanner doesnt work ONLY FOR MY RIGHT INDEX FINGER? Uhh i will flash it via miflash to be sure that everything is stock..

Doesn't work no matter how many times i try.
edit: after flashing stock rom via miflash nothing changes. Now it doesn't work at all. Can't recognise any fp. Maybe i just should send it on warranty..
edit2lol: kinda funny because when my mom or sister set up fp it works good.. what is wrong with me..

Give your phone to mom/sister and get yourself new one. :silly:
JK lulz
Try adding your entry again and again...
- clear the lockscreen lock and fingerprints
- Try to setup new fingerprint.
when asked to press NEXT on Fingerprint screen, put your unrecognized finger on the scanner (DO NOT press NEXT).
- follow the instruction until complete while still keeping your unrecognized finger on FP scanner
- done, now you can add any other fingers and all of them will works
Hey flashed xiaomi.eu and set up 3 times the same finger and it seems to work! Thanks for answers guys!

Fingerprint is not working in wickr with android pie on G965F

Fingerprint is not working in wickr with android pie on G965F, when i start the app i get the message: Too many attempts. Try again later. i get the message before trying to unlock with fingerprint.
Tried contacting their support and they told me to uninstall restart, create new fingerprints, restart, re-install, restart, enable fingerprint, restart.
I have tried all i can think of except factory reset but ill guess that's next, just wanted to see if any1 have fingerprint in wickr working on pie and G965F

Same here, using TheGalaxyProject ROM on Pie.
Are you using stock?
Yes. Stock without root.
Ive just tried a complete reset and reinstall with the same problem, so suspect it is with the device.
I'll raise with Wickr Devs - plz do the same so they are aware.
Did you do factory reset? I've already notified their support.
Same for me after upgrading my stock S9 to One UI today. Annoying thing is I can't remember my password. Used to just use finger print unlock. When this happened before I upgraded I would just press the menu key and close the app, restart it and finger print unlock would work. After updating this work around no longer works.
K'+
I got a mail from their support. They are working on it.
It's fixed in the latest version.

Unlock with fingerprint bug after Pie update

So i installed the pie ota Update today and when unlocking the phone with fingerprint it opens to the home screen with an enabled keyboard which automatically disappears after about 0.5 seconds. Does anyone have the same issue? Or does someone know a solution to this bug?
I'm on stock rom with locked bootloader and installed the update through inbuilt update center.

Someone once told me: "After every update, factory reset." I can just say that he was right.
Remove all fingerprints before you accidentally lock yourself out. Then reboot, then set up fingerprints again. If this doesn't work, factory reset. But if you have TWRP you could also just delete the fingerprint database files.

Question Fingerprint solution

EDIT: IF RESET FACTORY DOESNT WORK FOR U JUST GO TO SERVICE CENTER(I did it after all)
Hello
My device is Global version with miui V13.0.4.0.SKIMIXM
my fingerprint stopped working a week ago, then i contaced the support and they said these solutions:
1-factory reset
2-wipe data
3-download latest package
4-clean fingerprint area
i did all and somethimes just right after booting device my fingerprint showed up and working but after about couple hours back to the problem.
on early time of this problem i had fingerprint setting but couldnt open it (couldnt add fingerprint hint) but after some times it removes from setting too then at last after wiping data and solution above , fingerprint never showed up. so i decided to flash the original rom with fastboot and after i did that my fingerprint comesback and was working but again after couple hours stopped.
the thing is if safe mode it was working. even after rebooting to normal working 2 or 3 times then after that stop working again. in safe mode CIT fingerprint tests passed successfully untill right now after half a day i dont have fingerprints even in safe mod.
so i think of downgrading to miui 12.5.7 just want to be sure is it safe to downgrade because when i wanted to flash miui13 it errored with rollback but i edited script and flash was successful.
script edit is safe for downgrade ?
and maybe is there any othe solution that im not aware of?

solution is service center...in theory no anti rollback....just check in script before flash

thansk for reply so youre saying that in theory there is no problem to downgrade with editing script but in real life God knows right?
Unfortunately I have the same problem on my MI11 Lite 5G.
I would be interested if I install a custom ROM e.g. CorvusOS 3.2-V v12.1 if it works with it
So if anyone has experience with it?

i tried some custom roms before i send my phone to the service center and none of them worked.today i recieved my phone back and everything is great after replacing fingerprint.

Question Enrollment was not completed. Can't use a fingerprint sensor. Visit a repair provider.

It was working fine and I haven't replaced any display or screen protector. The only thing I tried was rooting a phone. But I revert it back and install an official ROM from first and tried some factory reset.
Try using this site, with the latest version of Chrome: https://pixelrepair.withgoogle.com/
At the bottom, use the "Install fingerprint calibration software" button. Apparently that can fix this issue for some.

Could you elaborate on what you mean by that? What's the specific error?
As you told I have already tried repairing "Install fingerprint calibration software" from here. (https://pixelrepair.withgoogle.com/). During those steps there 3 steps .. and the first step is to download it download the files after I connected in fasboot mod..
As it goes to step 2 .. It give an error couldn't install..
@beevekmgrz If I understand you correctly, you tried to root, had an issue, then flashed a stock ROM back to the device? Now you are having problems with the fingerprint scanner and have tried to repair it using the Fingerprint Calibration Software, only to receive an error in step 2?
Have you enabled OEM Unlocking and USB Debugging in the ROM? Either or both could be blocking you from completing this.
Not rooted. Using beta build. Had lots of issues with fingerprint enrollment. Had a privacy screen protector. Had to get rid of that, didn't work, always timed out half way through. Went to one of my old screen protectors clear. Would get about 90% before timing out with a error. Got a different screen protector that said fingerprint friendly. Works. Did redo my 2 of 4 fingerprints without a screen protector. It worked great. The new screen protector actually works but not as good if you don't use nothing at all.
I had the same issue when I got my 6a back from a google warranty repair. Error was 'Can not communicate with fingerprint sensor...consult repair service' ...or pretty close. Had to send it back AGAIN! Really pissed at google atm...EVERY repaired phone should have to pass a FULL diagnostic before being returned to the customer!
