Windows 11 now has a dedicated VPN indicator in the notification area
The latest Windows 11 Dev build has a small hidden feature that enables a new VPN indicator in the notification area. This allows you to check quickly if your computer is connected to a VPN.

[Q] Wireless Icon and connection Lost

my wifi icon and connection has dropped off, in wireless settings and in the advanced tab my home network comes up as unavailable for long periods, when it does get visible {by bars} there's only one bar for wifi strength and then disappears again without any further chance of coming on. all this happens in winmo 6.5, while in Android {from sd card,2.2 darkfroyo MCCM.. V4 with the compatible rom and hspl} the wifi icon doesn't appear and no web launches {apps,browser, etc}

I'd suggest a task29 to wipe the phone, reinstall yur radio then install WM from scratch and should solve your issue.

Custom status bar indicator?

Hi,
I don't really like the way Android (in fact CM13.0) handles the mobile data in the status bar. If I have both WLAN and LTE enabled, I have absolutely no notification that the mobile data is enabled. Then, if I lose the WLAN connection, the mobile data will be automatically used. I have a small network plan so I'd like to avoid it.
The solution would be a status bar icon showing up whenever cellular data is on, whether or not the real connection is WLAN or cellular, on the right side of the status bar, just as all the system icons.
First of all: has anyone already written something like that?
If not: I'd like to create such an application. I know that the right side of the status bar is reserved for system apps. Does it mean that if I install the app, spawning the status bar icon, as a system app, it'll automatically be shown on the right side of the screen?
Besides, is it possible to create a status bar icon without a notification in the notification list? Maybe Xposed would help?
Thanks for answering newbie questions

How to remove data icon in the statut bar [Oreo]

Running Oreo with we have more possibity to control notifications. So how to remove data icon without root and without any apps ?
I'm on Orange FR network with Orange FR firmware. .
I use "hide notifications" for this but now is there anyway to do this without apps, no ?
Thank you.
Assuming that you mean the mobile data icon that shows the network quality on the status bar. You can hide it using the system UI tuner.
Pull down your notification panel and tap and hold on the settings icon a pop-up should appear saying system UI tuner unlocked, then head into settings> system> system UI tuner> Status Bar, then toggle mobile data to off.
Thank you but I do that. So it's that I want. I talk about the eart icon at the left when data trafic is off.

Is there a way to do custom quick settings on the S9?

I use a VPN fairly frequently, but it's kind of frustrating to have to go through multiple settings windows to turn it on. Is there a way to add a toggle to the quick settings bar, or a button on the home screen or something?

Just install openvpn and set up vpn. Then just click the icon or set it to connect at boot
It's not a full-time VPN, it's for connecting to my home network to access some not-regularly-internet-facing resources on the occasion I need them, so auto-use isn't ideal.
I'm pretty well stuck using OpenVPN anyway, apparently, since I guess T-mobile S9's didn't get the required update to fix PPTP connections. Damn. Now to set up a whole new server and set up the connection on the phone.

Show on status bar icons for silent notifications

I have a HUAWEI phone that after an upgrade to MIUI 12.5 is not showing any longer the icons on the status bar for silent notifocations.
I know it must be a HUAWEI MIUI 12.5 bug, but I am wondering if tehre's a way to enable this via adb or other means. The options is not in settings/notifications/advanced
thanks
