Ok guys so i bought Samsung Galaxy S22+ in Korea. I am from Europe. Reason why i bought phone in Korea was it was like 20% cheaper then in EU + it have Snapdragon instead Exynos.
But as i came back home i was in for a surprise, coz i tried to set up dual sim for the phone, but then i realized i cant do it. SIM card tray where u put physical SIM cards have only 1 SLOT, 2nd slot that was supposed to be on the back side is slighty modified so SIM card cant fit in, also there is no writing SIM2 like its written on front (SIM1).
Also phone doesn't have support for eSIM, i cant open SIM manager or anything related to SIM cards in settings of my phone.
Dual SIM is important for me coz i use 1 SIM for SMS and phonecalls, its my number, and 2nd SIM is for internet. We are able to buy internet SIM here that have 60GB of data per month and its super cheap, like 7 EURO, so running dual SIM is super cheap version. If i buy internet via my regular phone providers where i can use phonecalls and SMS combined, it cost like 3x more.
SO yeah, i mean i could go for more expensive version and just have 1 SIM but its stupid coz 1 of reasons was i bought that phone is to run it DUAL SIM, i have also my old Huawei P30 pro working just fine, and now i feel dumb for buying another new phone that was meant to replace my old and its not working 100% correctly...
Can i modify my phone to make it work? Install EU version of Android or something? I would rly like to make it work, although even if i make it work i am not sure if my Internet/Phone service provider support eSIM so i swap this main physical sim with eSIM and then use internet one as physical. But ill deal with this later. I just wanna try enable eSIM first if its possible and have dual sim support in my settings.
Any help is very appreciated!
Best regards!
Hi, I am in the same situation. I bought mine in Peru from an Amazon-like local reseller. The model is SM-S906E and IMEI (eSIM) option is greyed out. Also I can't access the SIM configuration section. I'm installing Android 13 update right now, hope it enables it.
Otherwise, is there something I can do? Or the only option is to return the phone and buy another model?
Thanks!
If the setting is there and greyed out I ASSUME it's something you can easily get working with a CSC change. I have the exact same model and it works for me.
Search in the forum for SamFW, I have commented a few times about where to get it and a quick explanation how to change CSC.
I dont have anything greyed out. Basically i have no SIM options beside locking my SIM or setting a PIN and things like that. SIM settings are almost non existant and when i put 1 SIM in physical slot everything is done automaticaly.
My Samsung model is: SM-S906N
I had the HK version and it had dual-sim, with phisical cards but eSim functionality was also disabled for me.
And also without call recording and few other bits and pieces.
But nevertheless I sold it and upgraded to S23+.
Hi, I know this is off-topic but, I was wondering, since you have a korean model of the S22, after having updated to OneUI 5.1, do you have the Image Clipper feature introduced with the new S23 series? In case you are not sure what I'm referring to, here is a video of it in action;
.
There's a leak claiming it will come to older S22 models, and apparently korean models already have it. I would appreciate if you could check it if you have this feature, and if you do, can you share the buildnumber of the gallery app? Thank you!

I have the same version (with the LG U+ carrier) of the S22 Ultra and yes, I have that feature in the phone. I had no idea that it was implemented in, I just installed and update yesterday.
I have the same problem, has anyone found anything on it? I read that we can't make the e-sim work, but probably in the future with an update we will be able to work with the e sim. I had an s21 ultra, and suddenly with an update, the e sim feature appeared.

I have the USA unlocked U1 variant. No I didn't have to flash T-Mobile firmware in order for it to work. T-Mobile isn't like other carriers, wifi calling works out of the box as long as software supports it, they don't block it from non-branded phones. Even my OnePlus phones wifi calling works on T-Mobile.

another question. this will be out of topic. but have you tried recording video with loud band or loud music? If you did. How is the recording sound Quality? one of the Reasons that I wanted to replace my Note 8 is. when i record a video with my band even with an external Mic. it seems to compress the sound. so it will be like lower volume then, it will be normal volume then lower volume. TIA.
WiFi calling hardware missing on unlocked S9?
I am being told by Samsung that the hardware to make WiFi calling is missing on the unlocked phones. This sounds odd. Can anyone on this forum confirm?

The unlocked version will not have the option to turn on Wi-Fi calling as the hardware which supports the feature is not available in Unlocked version.
This has been talked about in length in other threads.
1. Samsung support knows nothing, if it isn't on their script they will give you any answers that kinda could make sense, not necessarily facts. If you ask them again you will get a different answer.
2. Yes the unlocked variant had WiFi calling, I use WiFi calling on T-Mobile.

Unlocked S9 WiFi calling
@bkeaver, this gives me hope!
A few follow-ups:
- is the U1 variant you buy directly from Samsung or the one from Best Buy (or some place else?)
- did you have to do anything to enable WiFi calling? Where is that setting in your screenshot, Settigs or the phone app?
- are you on Tmobile USA?
Thank you so much!

U1 is the carrier unlocked variant purchased from Samsung directly. Not sure what the variant is that Best buy sells. Could be the same model for all I know. WiFi calling is on by default and off the top of my head I don't remember which menu it's off of. Give me a few and I'll fire it up and get you a location of it.
And yes it's T-Mobile USA

If you buy an unlocked model from Best Buy, that's also U1...just like direct from Samsung.

Pitching in to confirm, S9+ unlocked, directly from Samsung using Mint Cell(love it, cheap, good&plenty), which runs on T-Mobile bands. Had to do 'in app'(mint) request to enable WIFI calling and they made it possible in 5 minutes. Yes, the WIFI calling settings are in the phone by default.

Yes, T-Mobile (and I guess it's MVNOs) have made unlocked firmware work wonderfully. I'd never use carrier firmware with them.
WiFi calling on S9
On the third try, I think I figured out the WiFi calling issue on unlocked devices (Galaxy S9). The key is to have the T-Mobile SIM card in the device before starting the setup for the first time. Doing this, the first popup I got said that the device will be updated with carrier specific settings. Then i went through the setup, and WiFi calling was there in the Phone app -> settings.
On another device I went through the setup first and then popped in the Tmobile sim, and the same window about carrier settings never presented itself.

I am facing the same problem, should I factory reset it? I unlocked the phone using SamKey, and the phone is Sprint unlocked. Missing Wifi Calling
When I pulled out the sim tray for sd card noticed the other side had spot for sim tray filled in. I popped out plastic part and noticed SMS function is disabled. Me thinks once the LTE variant comes out we're could flash that software on the wifi variant and cellular might work.
yeah noticed that too, it seems to have the sim card reader circuit on the inside of the tablet so yeah might be a free upgrade down the line
Yeah kinda excited for that.
You will brick phone.
Why is that? I'm flashing the same software on the same device.
Even if you could flash the LTE enabled firmware on the wifi Tab S6, it won't enable LTE. There's no IMEI assigned to the SIM slot (which I doubt there even is a SIM slot.
You mentioned that SMS function is disabled. I may know why.
I have a Galaxy Note 10+ through T-Mobile and I was able to enable the "Call and Text on other devices" feature through the Advanced Features section of the settings on both the phone and tablet. I can now get SMS and Phone calls through my tablet, as long as the Tab S6 is connected to WiFi.
I do hope that the tablet can be LTE enabled in the long run but I think for now this is just a feature to share phone capabilities with your actual phone.

Yeah who knows i know with the one plus 7 pro snd 6t you could flash the interntional software and put a dual sim tray in the phone with the tmobile variants and it will do dual sim so hopefully it can be like that lol either way is whatever but that would be a cool added feature
I would love this, My tab is coming today, but EXTREMELY unlikely as that would mean they lied to the FCC and have the LTE baseband radios
Assuming it has a cellular radio, in addition to not having the s/w to support data or dialing, it doesn't have an antenna. While you may be able to insert a nano SIM in the card tray that doesn't mean there's anything in the tablet to read it.
Unlocked cellular tabs are XX5 and the carrier versions are XX7 while the Wi-Fi versions are XX0. You cannot flash a ROM that's not for your specified model number and this isn't new, it's always been that way. People have gotten Wi-Fi-only ROMs to work on cellular Tabs but it blew away all the cellular features. People have driven themselves nuts over time trying to activate the dialer and MMS on a XX7 by flashing XX5 s/w and no one's been successful. But many tablets got bricked trying. And both of those devices had an active cellular radio with all the correct supporting h/w. Do a search on XDA or browse older generation Tab forums to learn more.

Crazy thinking this would work. Best is to get an LTE version if you really need it ?
Seriously, this non story has been doing the rounds since at least the Galaxy S4 phone.
Samsung DO NOT build the modems into non LTE devices, however for manufacturing simplicity and spare parts reasons use the same combo Micro SD SIM adapter.
Anyone who believes this will work can I perhaps interest you in my private shares in the London Bridge Holding Company that I might be wiling to sell.
can anyone who has the T865/LTE model confirm that it includes the Samsung Phone app and you can place/receive calls with the T865 model? I have Tab S4 LTE that i use for work in the field and having the phone part of the tablet is a must for me. thanks to anyone who can reply to my question.

I have Verizon, i bought a samsung tabs6 (WIFI only from BestBuy). I read about two hours ago about being able to do Samsumg calling and texting using my samsung account on my verizon connected Note 10 plus , I enabled it and it works flawlessly, it uses my Note 10 plus remotely to make calls, however!, before all this i had downloaded My Verizon messeges app from the play store and i did the pairing barcode so i can get text on my tab s6 from my verizon phone number, it worked but no calls on my verizon messages app, "until" i enabled Samsung calling and text! the next time i opened my verizon messages i got a pop alerting me that i could now CALL from my verizon messages app so i enabled it. I tried calling right after and it worked!! i do not see the remote calling notification on my Note 10 plus when using the verizon messaging app.
#1. I work for Verizon retail but as far as my understanding a tablet must have a designated phone number with verizon (1×/3g/4g) to be able to receive text from the verizon network thru my verizon messaging app. The tablet was able to receive messages to my surprise. Although it did let me somewhat select the call option in my verizon messages it didnt work for calling at 1st.
2. Enabling Samsung calling and texting gives the tablet a "Voip" phone number? Is it my carrier number? Without an IMEI ID or SIM ID? And lets me call from a messaging app using my carrier phone #? ??
3. That was sick!! And if it helps anyone please dont thank me. ?
Wrong post.
I recently bought the LG g8x from Flipkart. I was surprised to see that the phone didn't show any signal when I popped in my Singapore sim card. I was previously using the same simcard on a different phone, so I was sure it was working. To be sure, I put it back in the old phone (Redmi Note 8 Pro), it still worked. To check whether the issue is with just a particular carrier/country, I tried simcards from UK, USA, Singapore, and South Africa. All did not show any signal in the LG g8x. They all showed a signal on the Redmi. Am I missing something?
I did contact the LG support over whatsapp and phone, and their replies were... unhelpful to say the least. I have attached a screenshot of my conversation with them. I noticed sometimes it said network locked on the pull-down menu.
Any ideas/inputs?

Thats odd. This phone is supposed to support all 4g bands. Try a network reset. Try enabling roaming. Try different sim slot. Switch off that hotspot while testing.
Your home screen looks different. Whats that SOS mode? Did you change firmwares or have not updated to latest os?

Hey.
Well, it was odd to me too, which is why I put it up here to make others aware. For clarity, I am still in India, and just have a lot of international simcards because of my line of work.
I tried to enable roaming, but it doesn't get enabled. I tried either sim slots. I also tried putting an indian sim with an international sim in either sim slots. The indian simcard immediately catches network in all cases.
That was the hotspot that was showing up, which I stopped while testing. My background is changed, otherwise the phone is almost as i got it, apart from the updates. It has been updated to the latest available ota showing to me.

Hai,
I am now at uk and using lebara sim and its working perfectly , i activated the sim while i was in India, there where no issues then or till now. I bought the phone on big billion days sale on the very first day.
It may be network lock done by LG to avoid illegal sale of flipkart phones outside india. Just like samsung . which allows you to use international sims only when you activate the device with Indian sim and use it for atleast 10 to 20 mins. This way grey market cant sell a boxed phone outside india.

I bought it in india, but never bothered to use it there as im using an LG G6. When i tried the qatar sim it says network locked. i have an International airtel sim with me her in qatar and when i tried that sim, it catches the network instantly. As you mentioned "use it for atleast 10 to 20 minutes". Is it enough to put that sim and switch it on and let it be in standby state or do i need to make 20 minutes worth call with that sim. can you please specify.
Make calls for atleast 5 to 10 mins.
Although i am not sure whether you need a indian radio (i mean you need to be in india) despite of using indian network airtel.
Samsung phones which has indian sim only label outside the box. Says use it with indian sim and make calls for atleast 5 mins to activate the usage of international sims.
Lg should have at least cared to put this label like Samsung.
Hi, folks. I'm having the same issue. Bought in India in Amazon (not even on Flipkart sale!), but unboxed later in Russia.
That surprise was waiting me when I installed local SIM cards. Can anyone help to fix that? I'd even agree to buy Indian SIM card to unlock it, but I have no idea how to get it in Russia. Tried couple unlocking services - they cannot help to unlock it, because it's locked by region, not by network provider, and it's seems none has codes yet (
Maybe there are some variants to get any Indian promo SIM or smth like that and send it to my location?
I'm exhausted of finding solution, that's just aweful regarding the fact I bought a new "not locked" phone

Initially the phone needs to be activated rather to be used along with Indian SIM, later on in any country the phone will work with any country SIM for sure.

Did it work for you?
I was trying to get an eSIM profile on my phone. I got it installed but failed to enable it or delete it (gives errors).
By rebooting the phone, the phone failed to read even my physical SIM card.
Tried a phone factory reset with no success.
Tried other SIM cards, but I keep getting this error message with any SIM card I insert "the operator can't be switched because of an error"
Is there anything that can be done to fix this so I can use my phone again?
It looks like the ESF file got corrupted or something as I can't see the IMEI anymore in the phone's setting.
Thanks.
how exactly did you try to get the esim profile on your pixel6?
describe every step and any errors, screen shot of any info always helps
too much info is always better then not enough
carrier info and phone model and any other info helps also.
The normal procedure described by Google, Settings ---> SIMs --> add SIM and accepted to have two sims --> download a profile --> then I scanned the eSIM QR code and approved the download.
It is Google Pixel 6 - Andriod v12
The photo is from after the phone factory reset, so the eSIM profile is not visible anymore. Just the physical card which can't be switched on now

Just downloading the eSim is not enough. Your provider has to enable it on their end. Otherwise it won't show an IMEI and you'll get that error. Call them up and make sure you get the eSim registered on their network then you should be fine.
According to them, no issue in the registration from their end
Anyway, It is deleted now and did a phone factory reset. I just want to use the physical SIM card at this stage and not the eSIM profile.

I had a similar issue back in October trying to convert a physical Mint mobile Sim to an esim.
I received an error at the very end of the conversation and my physical Sim would not work anymore. Come to find out. Mint mobile did not support an esim for the P6 at that time.
I had to get Mint mobile to send me a new Sim with my info on it.
As of now, Mint mobile does support an esim, but I am not going to take a chance.

That's the easiest way but they are wrong in that the registration did not work. If it did you'd have an IMEI and phone number on the esim.

hey nutcase, im having a problem with my phone.
ok that is all the info im going to tell you since you feel information on the problem is completely unneeded,
ill wait for your vast knowledge on how to fix the issue.
myself when people ask for me help i like to know exactly what is wrong and how it got that way.
For some carriers, they have to approve every time you reinstall your esim. Not fun reading the EID off to them.

No, the only way to get the phone working is to send it back to Google to replace it I am afraid.
That's what I did as it is still under warranty.
Its still under warrenty but I am on different country
Noooooo any alternative

Where are you from btw.
I live in Canada and bought a US variant s23 Ultra. Two things I have noticed,
1. Wifi calling can be configured in my provider end (Virgin), and when it ask to complete the setup by turning on wifi calling it does not work.
2. Samsung pay is not working.
Has anyone faced any sort of issues after flashing SM-S918W firmware in SM918U1?
Any cons??
Also, my apps will be wiped or no? I have already seen that I can keep data intact while flashing with Oidin.

Wi-Fi calling won’t work on the U1 (neither with VoLTE) in Canada except on Rogers. Bell and Telus whitelist W model IMEI numbers. Even if you flash the W firmware it won’t work.

If this is the case. Was this a recent change? VoLTE used to work fine as well as 5G using my old OnePlus 8T+ 5G. It honestly wouldn't surprise me but if this is actually happening. I hope everyone files a complaint with the CRTC over their anti-competitive behavior. I won't be able to try mine out until i get back to Toronto after Easter but I will be reaching out to their Executive Team directly if this is the case and consider returning my 6 lines to Rogers.

It was a change sometime last year. CRTC wouldn't do anything because they said it's their network and they can choose what devices they allow to use. CRTC is a joke

It used to be that way about SIM locking devices too. Sometimes things can change for the better. Especially if enough people complain about the same issue.

I tried submitting a CCTS claim but they sent me back the requirements and there is a specific section about devices on their network and how that's exempt. The only way might be writing your MP to voice your complaint. I agree if enough people complain maybe they will do something but I won't hold my breath. In my case I switched carriers to Rogers since I didn't want to give up my U1 device but I know not everyone is in that position.

I need a device compatible with mt T-Mobile SIM and Telus. US devices are much more compatible globally in my opinion and T-Mobile's roaming rates make Canadian carrier rates look like a joke in comparison.

100%.
telus/kodoo wifi calling did not work for me and the phone was from Telus!
Had to switch to Rogers.
I do remember that my previous phone (online bought) was not supported by my carrier for Vowifi, and I found on the carrier forum how to push it with ADB. It worked, can't remember exactly the steps it's been a while
You cannot use a US S23 Ultra with a Canadian SIM card, but you can use International Data Roaming with a supported US carrier.
(This is a MAJOR change for 2023 and beyond. Samsung is putting the final nail in the coffin to end foreign SIM card support on US Galaxy devices, even after a network unlock.)

I did similar with the OnePlus 8T+ 5G. Using QPST, you change the carrier profile for the SIM. This also worked on my Xiaomi Mi MIX 3.

Samsung doesn't care. As long as you buy their phone, they get your money. I am going to have a conversation with the Telus Executive Team this week about this. I want to know what exactly is done. If it's white listing as mentioned. Then they can lock my device ID to a previously sold Telus device to keep these features active on my s23 Ultra. I had this done with my old Rogers s9+ on AT&T that was flashed to keep WiFi Calling and VoLTE working for that device while she used it.
good luck with Telus, I spoke with many people to get the freaking Vowifi option enable, and nothing can be done. Ive pposted on all possible forums to let people know.
Even the engineer team was aware of that and they didnt care.
Sad I personally know the ex VP of telus, but now retired...
I spoke to one of the senior network engineers at Telus after confusing my contact in the Telus Executive Office. What I was told...
Devices are not provisioned by IMEI but are by device model. So even a W flashed U or U1 will still show up as what it is because of the one unchangeable CSC. The crock about having to test devices before the model gets approved is a typical line but that is their excuse to limit what devices fully function on their network to help encourage customers to buy from Telus. However, devices and devices models will be added as time passes. I sent the engineer the IMEI's for my TMB U s23 Ultra and this is what I was told.
Not vetted yet but as explained to me over the phone. Devices and device model variants will be added to the vetted list over time. This practice was implemented less than a year ago now. There is no ETA for this and I am not aware of any way to bypass the IMS vetting list. Device refreshes take place every few days.
