Dear All,
Here is a recap of my phone.
1st time - Authorised Repair Center - To change the charging pin as it is no longer fast charging
Root Cause - might enter dirt or sand
2nd Time - Non Authorised Repair Center - To change the screen as my phone is exposed to rain water. Service guy says that post 1st service they might not reseal it properly therefore it is no longer IP53.
3rd Time - Non Authorised Repair Center - Post screen replacement, the camera is not working, opening the stock camera apps leads to crashing, camera only works with google camera. Return back to the repair center to fix.
4rd Time - Non Authorised Repair Center - Phone suddenly hard bricked, after shutting it down at night. The guy says this has to do with the firmware (I doubt his script). He managed to unbrick it.
Excess of 30 days post 4rd repair in a hot and humid condition, I shut down my redmi note 10 for charging. Thereof it is not charging and hard brick again.
Additional information
1. Move from Authorised to Non Authorised as one year warantty is over for my phone
2. 2/3/4 - Non Authorised Repair Center is the same shop
3. Phone is no longer responding to fastboot/charging/usb charging/volume down & power button manipulation
My objective of writing here is two
1. Retrieve the media from my internal memory
2. Unbricked my phone
Look forward for comments from you all.
I owe you all a good cup of coffee.
Thanks in advance.
It just seems like a motherboard failure.
@gabsvm1 , can we deduce the water seep into the motherboard and damage the whole thing? As far as i know, the unauthorised repair guy say no mould and no extensive water damage, just the screen....I doubt his word. Unauthorised service guy says that the next time it happen again he might need to "wash" the processor.
Quick update, while toying MiFlashPro my device manager is showing other device with name of QUSB_BULK_CID:040E_SN:XXXXXXX
Let me know if there is any progressive steps from here.

I'm having a nightmare with Samsung UK repair centre. Could do with some advice...
I'll try to keep this short. Basically my phone has had reboot problems since I bought it back in May. It would reboot itself while sat on a desk or in my pocket (on standby). Every now and then it would get stuck in the boot animation loop and require a factory reset. It went back to Carphone warehouse once for a repair, where they flashed it and replaced the battery, but this did nothing to fix the problem, and after a few months of perseverance with the rebooting ( I couldn't bring myself to wait another 4 weeks repair time...) I had had enough and contacted Samsung direct as their repair turnaround is shorter, and it went back to them for repair. I got the phone back today and they are claiming the fault is water damage and as such the warranty is void. This is bulls##t and the phone has not been exposed to any more moisture than any phone is exposed to in general use.
They could not give any sort of detail on the water damage, but suggested that it may be discolouration on the motherboard. I recall in the first few weeks of owning the phone the phone got very hot (too hot to touch against your shin hot). Could this display similar colouration to water damage?
I seem to be banging my head against a brick wall with the repair centre call centre and Samsung customer support are not offering any resolution options. I'm loathed to write off my warranty and a £500 phone cost. So any advice would be appreciated.

what moisture do you expose your phone to in general use?
Humidity in the air (not much of that in the UK...) Kettle boiling in the kitchen. That sort of thing... The point I'm making is that it's not been exposed to moisture beyond that expected in normal use, something the phone should be resistant to.
Its probably the usual condensation fault across all makes of phone its a known warranty reject .
Water damage is shown by on-board indicators .
One Samsung have refused warranty fair enough you can proceed by writing directly to Samsung UK stating your case .Or pay for a specialist phone engineers report and if they find no water damage then go back to Samsung .

Do you have a telecommunications ombudsmen in your country?
If so contact them and put your case forward.
I bet after they contact your carrier, retail outlet or Samsung you get a new phone.
I know a mate who got a new phone from both the carrier and the manufacturer.

Thanks, yeah we have Ofcom in the uk, and also a trading standards organisation. I May have to get them involved if I can't work something out with Samsung. The fault I have problems with has been on the phone since I got it out of the box, and certainly isn't water damage. Trouble is if there is some sort of liquid detection inside and it's changed colour, how can I prove that the phone was only subjected to normal use, and not exposed to moisture?

Its not a network problem so OFCOM is no use . The phone is not part of your network contract .
Under UK consumer law your supplier of the phone is liable for warranty .You have since been to Samsung who in law have no responsibility bar their extended warranty .
Samsung have said no its a user fault we are not responsible so its up to you to prove them wrong .
Trading standards will have experience of the water damage issue and may be of help .

Hi everyone,
It's kind a special question because of the following :
- Xperia Ray is my girldfriend device. I'm iPhone 4 user (hopefully XPERIA S user when ICS will be launched on it).
-> I'm not familiar with Android terms (flash, rom, bootloop, etc.)
- It must be an hardware problem due to the situation but still want to try the basic test with your help.
Now the fact :
My gf just dropped her SE XPERIA RAY as if she want to put it on table but she missed it... By the way the back protection opened on the small crash but the battery stay on the device.
XPERIA RAY doesn't boot so we try at home with the battery charger (with and without battery) -> that is the only way we can have a bootloop.
Description of the bootloop: (Ray is obviously power off) : when on charge it tries to power on(boot) (Sony Ericsson text logo) during 4-5sec then black screen (power off), 30s to 1mn later same process, looping during all the time battery charger is used.
No other way to have anything on the screen...
As I said it must an hardware but did you guys have any tests so I can try to boot entirely?
I try :
1- Simple power on : nothing
2- Simple power on + "home button" or + "volume up button" ou + "volum down button" : nothing
3- On Battery charger : boot loop
4- On battery charger + every possible physical button (as pt.2) : boot loop
5- Connected USB to PC : nothing ( so no PC-C software can be used to repair... )
6- Connected USB to PC with volume UP button pressed : nothing
I just don't understand why, in case of an hardware problem (something jumped away or moved during the crash), it can "try to" boot during few seconds (then bootloop as described before)...
I apologize for my poor english (I'm french) and will stay tuned to this topic for any complementary details...
If you have any suggestion...
By the way, I didn't by it on shop (it was second-hand but never used (still packaged)) so I didn't have warranty paper. Is there any way I can contact Sony Ericsson (Sony now...) to send us the device. It is a 2011 model, hopefully still on constructor warranty...?
Thank you in advance.
Nico.
I suppose you had it fully stock, because you are not familiar with Android.
If phone is turned off, start charging battery. Does the screen show charging screen?
Sony doesn't have own service centers, the only way to let them repair is taking back to the shop, where it was bought. In your case, you should visit local mobile repair shop, it just doesn't go under warranty then.

The phone is always turned off and no I only have bootloop described on my first post.
Thank you for your answer about Sony SC. I already contact local mobile repair shop and off course they said me I won't be under warranty.
XPERIA RAY cost me about 200€, didn't want to repair it for 100€ ^_^
Did you think I can sell it (for pieces) and how much?
Thank you again for the quick answer, apreciate.
Since you are unable to enter also flashmode, there is some bigger error in hardware.
About selling pieces...I don't think you could sell it, maybe screen for someone, who has ruined it, but other parts will probably stay for you.
But, as for the phone more...200€ brick. At least you could use your phone for some throwing contest, I have heard about some phone throwing contests...maybe you can win a new one
Sorry, but I am out of ideas for now.
I can sell screen & battery...
Thank you
First of all, why shouldn't it be under warranty? If you have the receipt, just take it where you bought it from and tell them to fix it. You dont have to tell them that dropping it caused it to bootloop, i have dropped my Active loads of times, and the only thing that would make the shop where i bought it that i screwed up is if i brought it piece by piece to them
Take it to get fixed. Just tell them it started doing it this morning.

mine selling the phone to me cheap?
Okay so I know this is a kind of an old thread but I want people to know how to solve this issue as I had it too.
The moment your xperia ray fell from the table it absorbed an ammount of shock and blablabla, anyways the shock vibrates through the body and in most cases will mess up your battery contacts!
Mine was the most right one of the 3 battery contact sets which had been pushed in and thus not being able to connect or just slightly making it impossible to boot from the battery itself.
How to fix it?
There are 2 ways to fix it if your battery contacts have been damaged (if you don't know for sure you can still try them, I am not responsible for any damage you may do though!)
1. get a pincet and softly pull the contacts back, they are spring loaded and the shock probably got them stuck inside of the machine. A slight pull will do.
2. get a 2mm thin card (cellphonecard or something) and cut a tiny piece of it. Then before you insert the battery just put the piece of the card in the corner of the lower side of the battery input place. Then place the battery and push it down till you can attach the back cover.
Et voila, your device should boot, charge and be recognized by the pc again!
Thanks a lot, this last solution fixed mine
I bought a brand new Galaxy S2 in December 2011 and have been enjoying it for a week till I found an Audio jack issue. The issue must have been there right from the moment I unboxed the phone, as I didn't find time to test all features of the phone in a week time. wherein if I remove the ear phones, loud speaker won't work. Later, when I took the phone to service centre, they concluded that the audio jack wasn't triggering the ear-phone removal signal.
Since it was a brand new phone, I demanded a replacement at the service centre. But they refused a replacement, stating some unwritten policy, that phone's life exceeded 15 days from purchase date (since I ordered the phone online, it took me 7 days to get delivered + 7 days of owning it without knowing the issue + weekends). I called up the zonal manager and he too refused for a replacement but promised me to replace the mother board of the phone.
Since I insisted that the repairing work at factory is different from service centres in terms of ESD safety, he promised me that I can be present personally while the service engineer repairs the phone. He also promised that Samsung service centres are at par with the factory standards. Without an option, I had to agree for a repair on a brand new phone for no mistake of mine. When the service engineer was repairing the phone, the front desk people were roaming inside the service area (inside ESD safe zone marked with yellow lines) without ESD safe slippers or bands. I was harassed for quoting that they are not following ESD standards. Having worked in an electronic manufacturing industry for years, I know that moving inside an ESD safe zone may spoil the electronic components in long run. For having said that I was harassed badly by the service manager. When I brought this to zonal manager's notice, he promised me that there won't be any fault in the future. I demanded his promise in a written format but he refused. As any other citizens of this country (with very weak consumer protection), I have been living with the phone happily but not for long
After 5 months, on a Tuesday morning the phone is completely dead and wouldn't boot up while the battery if fully charged. Last known usage was on Monday night when I hooked up the phone to the charger before going to sleep. I still remember that I woke up from my sleep to plug out the phone from wall charger as soon as I heard the charge-full beep. Next day morning, the display wasn't coming up.
Diagnosis from my end:
1. Removed and re-inserted the battery. Doesn't boot.
2. Press and hold the power button for a minute after removing the battery. Doesn't boot.
3. The phone doesn't get into recovery mode.
4. Swapped batteries from my friends phones and still it doesn't boot. But my phone's battery worked in their phone.
I strongly believe it's due to the board replacement undertaken outside factory without following ESD standards or due to the replacement board itself which I suspect to be a re-furbished one. This time I didn't want to give up and demanded a fresh replacement phone but the service manager disagreed again. So, I wrote to the Samsung CEO desk and they are dealing with the case for the past 10 days without much progress.
Kindly give your suggestions if I should continue to live with a faulty phone after paying 30K or get a replacement phone since it's a factory fault. Also, suggest me if I could approach consumer court for all the losses (precious data, loss of peace and all the hardships I'm undergoing).
Thanks in advance.
Deva
Well. Sounds like hardware issue. Could be a lemon, could be a refurbished phone. It should be covered under 1 year warranty anyway, so just take it back and ask them to repair it.
Btw, this should be in the Q&A section.

I have already visited the service and they are ready for a repair. Since the phone has underwent a main board replacement very soon after purchase and again the service centre says a board replacement needs to be done now for the boot issue, is it unfair to ask for a fresh phone instead of repeated repairs? and who knows, after another 5-6 months (post warranty) if the phone comes up with another board fault, I will have to pay the board cost from my pocket. All this for a lemon I've got.

Unfortunately there's nothing more you can do. It depends on the shop that you purchased from, but usually if the phone is found to be faulty within a week or two, they will replace with new one. But, obviously for you it's well past that.
After almost 15 days of struggle, I managed to get 3 months of extended warranty for the product.
i was looking at an app off market which said to create partition for linux swap, fool me i just install it and did follow its instruction. and by the way i was using my phone fine for a while but then i reboot my phone and thats it, in never turned back on.
i tried every possible options to fix it, all the soft mod options including the jig, but so far no luck, any ideas?
If the jig doesn't work you're out of luck. Service centre job & hope they don't notice/care it's been messed with or maybe repair by 3rd party repairer if you end up having to pay for it.
i did took it to samsung repair, but they are saying that my phone is water damaged, while i never ever been near water with my phone, i told em use jtag and flash it, but they insist its water, i got around 5 month warranty left but this dam cnts, cant fix it
Take it to a local mobile repair shop if they refuse to fix it. That surprises me, I would have thought they would fix it if you pay for it. Which you should - water damage isn't covered by warranty (you can debate this with them till the cows come home, tends to be a waste of time), and a hardbrick caused by you isn't either. That certainly tends to be the experience on here (them repairing it at cost to you).
I faced bootloop (mi logo>vibration>reboot) problem and I suspected Battery to be the culprit . Anyway , i got it checked and repaired at a local (non xiaomi) repair shop that claims it was the issue with PMIC power management IC and that he has replaced the IC .
Now the phone works fine and does not enter into that bootloop even when charger is disconnected and phone is rebooted manually. I hope the problem is resolved .
However , the other issue is still persistent which is : copper colored washed out MI logo constantly appears on the screen and reinstallation of sw did not help either . In india these repairmen usually cant explain the problem area if it is outside of "Try and test" scheme .
I spent 1000INR to get it repaired but I highly doubt that PMIC is replaced. Coz this repair guy did this replacement in just 6 work hours. probability of getting the right part at right time at his disposal is very slim. And I had seen his workstation once, where i di not see any SMT repair station either. Which means that he cannot replace BGA package IC at all. Anyway, I will receive the phone tonight. Lets hope it works fine and the other problem gets rectified by flashing.
If someone has resolution to this problem of persistent logo please help

Update- problem was with battery. The repair guy looted some 450 extra bucks in the name of repair. Battery is available at 550 rs on major online resellers. This guy sits in TGIP mall, in a multi-brand mobile phone outlet. Better to go to authorised service centres if you have time and energy. But definitely, visiting authorised service centre is always better.
Mi logo still comes in BG, resetting, deleting user data, cache etc didn't help. In settings app and self test modes, the logo disappears. Everywhere else it is there.
