Hello,
I have a simple question. I am using a tablet, running Android 10, and want to turn notifications off... I have tried all the settings, but it is unbelievable what Android still thinks I need to know...
Is there a way to turn them them off ?
Thank you

All notifications will not turn off for sure.
Some of them can be turned off by disabling the services that send them.

Hi guys
As this is a brand new section in xda-developers, we might need to draw the attention of the developers.
In this thread we can centralize all our requests that we have for the developers.
I will start with my requests :
1. Android 2.1
2. Wifi modifications, so the Wifi doesn't disconnect after the phone gets locked
3. change fonts (now words are split in the strangest ways)
4. Live wallpapers (I don't know if this will be possible on such a small screen but it's worth the try)
I hope this will raise interest from some developers.
For me root and kernel with netfilter would be enough. Wifi tether is the only thing i miss atm and it is the only reason the G1 is still not gone.
But PdaNet tethering works, right?
I think the thing we need most is a root, or at least a way of removing Sonys modifications to Android

I've seen people complain that the wifi disconnects when the screen turns off. Is that what you mean? There's actually a setting for that...
Go to Settings > Wireless Controls > Wi-Fi Settings
Press the Menu button
Select Advanced
Select Wi-Fi sleep policy
Voila! Select 'Never', and it'll never sleep. I think. Unless it's bugged, of course! (can't test here, as I've got no wifi)

Hi Spataluk
I indeed meant when the screen turns off and I'm afraid that it's not that it is a software problem. I already found that option and I already selected 'Never'.
So it is bugged and it is a known issue for Android 1.6. Was same problem with the Hero.
But thanks anyway

Yeah just to confirm this does not resolve the wifi turning off - also FixMyWifi crashes so cannot sustain the WIFI during sleep either.
Only option is to disable>re-enable WIFI after device wake-up, otherwise the wifi scanner does not pickup a network.
For me (first foray into Android development) make sipdroid work! It's set in absolute sizes for many things, so not everything shows up on the mini's screen.
Just got done with my build environment, now to get the source, and see what I can do.
root!
Everyone hates these apps that cannot be deleted. Specially the demo-versions, which are useless afterall.
There's apparently root now.
Can anyone confirm it's working with the mini pro?

Exploids method works like a charm.
I just removed the demo games and the manual with the root.
Is it easy for someone to create a *very* basic but functional rom, to get rid of SE's rubbish?
Ah, and a Recovery ROM should be WoW

This is exactly what I came here to say. Netfilter support is about the last thing I need on the phone after having found pretty much everything else I needed. If we get netfilter support, it will be the perfect phone!
I actually got the source code for the netfilter kernel-module for the X10 mini, but I have no idea on how to compile it. If I get it compiled I don't think I would have any problem getting it implemented using insmod via adb, root access and busybox.
Charge from PC
hallo all. Can you help me with some question ?

Maybe you should ask this question in the right part of the forum.
i guess since we now have root the question is can we copy the rom off the phone safely and then edit it so we no longer have all the sony stuff on it and maybe get cm6 on it
right my request is that we find a developer who can crack the bootloader and give us the android 2.2 update becasue SE never will
Anyone know of an app that will turn the device's power on/off at set times -- like a Blackberry can do? Thanks.
Id like this as well.

Off should easily be done with Tasker. On, however, probably isn't possible on our phones. I could certainly be wrong, however.
Suddenly, starting a few hours ago, my phone began making the notification type sound whenever I unlock the phone and access the homescreen.
The option (screen lock sound) is disabled under 'sound' in settings. I presume this is the setting responsible?
Any ideas why it's started doing it?
I've tried activating and deactivating different sound settings, silent mode, airplane mode, restarting etc in order to re-boot the setting, but to no avail
Then use widgetlocker and configure in that app.

Nope, just tried it and it doesn't stop the sound as it's already set to off in widgetlocker. It uses a different source for the sound.

Normally it should be disabled under settings/sound/sound for lockscreen. Otherwise factory reset if it is such a problem for you.
I found out what it was. Thought I'd update the thread in case its searched.
It was the nfc notification sounding every time the phone was unlocked. Turn off nfc in settings and the sound disappears! Yay. Was driving me nuts.
Glad to hear you found out

Hooray

thank you, i'm going crazy with that.
Thank you!!!
That sound was driving me crazy! I tried everything I could think of and could not find the source of that sound! My sincerest thanks!

Hi, I have a Nexus 4 and I activated developer mode by typing 7 times on the build number. Is there any way I can disable developer mode so I will not be a developer anymore? I switch off in the developer options but I was wondering if I can remove that from settings for good and to not be registered as a developer anymore.
Please if you know how , reply!

Why do you want to turn it off? There's really no point to that.

Doesn't affect anything? Like upgrade to newer built or something? My phone isn't rooted that is why i wanted to turn off, is there a way?

It affects literally nothing. Don't turn it off, some of the features in there are useful. If you want to make your phone feel faster for example, just turn all of the animations to 0.5x.

It affects security. Anybody who has the phone will be able to run commands on it through adb.

No it doesn't. You have to have adb enabled for that to work. Just having it present in the options is safe.

Just say: "I DON'T KNOW HOW TO DO THAT!"
Poster don't want to know how this mode is good and what he lost if this mode will be turned off.
It's not so hard for undrstanding. If You know - explain how to do that, no - shut up, please.
Dear all,
I face this all-pie-roms-common-problem that the wifi disconnects itself automatically while the phone is sleeping and turn back on as soon as I turn on the screen which prevent the phone from receiving notifications when sleeping or resuming an active download
Any suggestions please..
Thanks in advance.
