Found Doc. - New or Old? - MDA, XDA, 1010 General

Looking up the following FCCID on the back of my SX56 (which I was arguing to a friend is really the Tmobile SX56, not the ATT sx46) - but we both couldn't find a difference to prove.
These block diagrams may help. I don't recall them anywhere here before.

Flashing from Qwest to Verizon..

I have a Qwest Mogul, and from what I can tell, it's the same model as the verizon mogul. My question is, can I flash it with the newest Verizon rom? Do I need to unlock it or do I just flash with the verizon rom and that's it? Any help would be greatly appreciated.
You might want to follow the instructions to go back to the Verizon stock ROM in the WiKi, then get it working on the Verizon network then you can put on Custom ROM/Radio ROMs. But before you do that I would call Verizon and make sure they will take that phone's ESN. Some of the carriers won't take other carrier's phones even though they are the same model.
Curious
Just curious to see if there was ever any outcome or more official info lately about whether the Qwest HTC PPC 6800 Mogul can be flashed to Verizon service.
I just picked up one of these for a great deal to replace my current VZW phone as it seems to think it is at the end of it's usable life and I don't want to re-contract for two more years just to get a new phone.
I have been in several forums and googled until the letters wore off my keyboard and I keep running into dead ends on this subject.
Figured I had better resurrect the threads and see if anyone ever got anywhere with this request.

If your motherboard is still good just put that into the Qwest Mogul, and off ya go. That is what I did when my digitizer cracked. I got one like new for $40 swapped the mobos and got a new phone with all of my original info (rom, esn... ect.) 8 baby screws and 2 beers is all it takes.

But again does anyone know if the aristocracy at Verizon will allow another carriers phone on their network?

I just spent 2 weeks last month to find out that VZW's new policy is to ban Qwest ESN's even if they were allready active on their nutwork.
I was grandfathered in with one of my Qwest 6800's, then I switched service to my 6900, and when I tried to go back it took 2 weeks and 3 level 3 techs to end up finding out that $55.oo an a new 2yr. renual (15mo. into old),
and I got a BNIB XV6800.
Now the TP in on sale for $99.99 with a 2yr., but a $70.00 mail in rebate, makes it 1/2 the price I just paid.
Oh well I don't think the TP is as solid as the TITAN...

[Q] Secondhand phone sold as new from T-Mobile?

Does someone know of a way I can tell if my phone is used or refurbished? I just got a Vibrant through a T-Mobile store and it was sold to me as new but I feel it might not be...mainly because as the rep was setting it up before handing it over the home screen icons were all scattered about and when I opened doubleTwist player to check it out there already was a device name set in the Settings menu. I tend to be mistrustful of phone carriers in general so my paranoia may be ill-founded. This is my first smartphone and I am definitely a "noob" to androids. Thanks everyone.
Could possibly be some foul play. When did you get it?
Does it have scratches?
Is it possible to call T-Mobile and ask them if the phones imei has ever been used by another sim?
Either way, if you just got the phone, ask them to exchange it for you, and tell them not to open the box, you will open it yourself.
most likely you purchased a phone from a "authorized dealer" usually in cases like that when a person buys a phone they have xx days to return it. authorized retails (some not all) will resell that "gently used" device as new. I haven't heard this happening from T-Mobile Corporate stores. Check for wear backplates, battery and surrounding area, screen and connector pins for the micro usb plug. if everything looks up to par don't worry about it.
Yeah I was a pretty annoyed that the clerk was setting up the phone and I had to tell them I wanted to see what they were doing. The phone looks new and all the accessories were still in their respective 'bags'.
I did purchase the phone from a tmo corporate store. I also posted on doubleTwist's support forum and found out that a default name (a random Star Wars or Dune character name) is automatically set if you aren't logged into a gmail account during setup, which I didn't have. The other item of concern is the pin2 code to access the Fixed Dialing Number menu is already set and I didn't do it. Calling tmobile support tonight to find out what's up with that. I'll post here what I find out. Thanks.
So I called tmobile customer support to ask about the pin2 code but it was after hours. I did find out from the user manual that you DO have to get this code from your carrier if your sim card supports it. I also successfully registered (after several attempts) my phone with the IMEI code on the Samsung site. I think I've been a little paranoid about this and actually received a new phone like I should have. Doesn't hurt to be a little skeptical though, eh? Thanks again to SamsungVibrant and boystuff for your responses.

Circle with strike thru it, "Loss of signal"?!?!

Hello, i bought my Samsung Galaxy s2 "epic" only 4 months ago, and TWO months ago, it started to have a circle with a strike through it ("loss of signal" i guess?) and it has NEVER worked since. Not even restarting it. I have also done a factory reset, but nothing works. I have tried replacing it through my insurance but they are always out of stock conveniently and want to give me some crappy cheaper phone. I want the one i bought! HOW do i fix this?! I already know there has been a "fix" for Sprint users with this problem, but I am Tmobile, so I am not sure that helps me any. No repair shops seem to know a thing about how to fix this..I am at my wits end, I have tried for over 2 months now to resolve this, and I just don't know how! I am not a person who knows about the technicalities of phones, just know how to use them. I saw a post that originally lead me to this site that had a fix on it, but it was waaay too complicated to really understand; i am BEGGING anyone who knows how to fix this to just walk me through it?! i have tried SO hard, this has been a HUGE source of stress for me after all of this, and I cannot afford to spend 600$ to replace it!!

It looks like to me the phone has either been reported lost or stolen which means that the real owner has rung the provider up and asked them to black list the phone so if anyone try to use it they won't be able to.It might be a possibly that the the modem part of your mother board is faulty you might just want to replace and hope for the best:silly:

Given the two bits of your original post that I bolded above, I think you may be in the wrong forum... Also, are you are SURE your phone is also called "Epic" anything? The Sprint Galaxy SII model is called the "Epic 4G Touch". But not the T-mobile model.
Are you on T-mobile in the USA? Or Europe?
What is your phone's precise model number? It is printed on the label under the battery.

I do have a similar problem.
After a coupleof month usage my phone randomly has this circle described above. Usually switching it off an then on agein does work and I get the signal back.
By the way, I am on T-Mobile Europe and have a Dual-Number SIM card.
Does it have anything to do with this?
I used the SIM card for years in other phones without problems.

[Q] Bought a Galaxy SIII , turns out the ESN is bad..What to do?

Hi guys, seems being on AT&T made me too comfortable with SIM swapping being so easy and I bought a S-III off craigslist that turned out to be on MetroPCS's bad esn list. I have done tons of research on the seller, his full name, he's a student at a local college and his phone#, etc and I have the text messages and ad. He won't return my calls or texts and now I'm not sure what to do. With all that info is there anyone that has actually gotten their money back if reported to the police? I'm not sure if the phone was his and he reported it stolen or if it was someone elses? Any insight would be greatly appreciated
You must be very unlucky. First, you've bought faulty phone and now posting in wrong place.....
Ask in Q&A for more help
Thanks..thought I was in there..stupid headache. Will repost

Better to post in the American variants thread, more likely to get an answer regarding how the police treat cases like this.........you are, after all, a law unto yourselves

[Q] Sort of a Noob Question...

Hey guys. i have what will probably seem like a super noob question for everyone. I have only EVER been on CDMA networks, and only just started tmobile a year ago. and ive only had one phone there, so idk how these things work.
I want a Sony Xperia Z Ultra LTE (GPE or not, idc) but obviously it isnt sold by tmobile. since ive never had to deal with unlocked phones, i ask you all this:
If i buy one from someone on craigslist/ebay, is checking the serial number important like it is on CDMA networks? also, in order to activate my phone, i assume all i do is pop in the sim, but does that move my insurance and Tmobile JUMP plan over to the new device as well?
Sorry for noobing it up guys. lol any help is much appreciated.
First of all, this should be in the Q&A section.
Second, yes, check the IMEI number before you buy it, and the SIM should automatically be activated once you pop it in the Ultra. I can't give you an answer on the insurance part since i'm not american, so i don't know these things work over there.
I am not sure how important checking the imei number on this device would be since since is not a carrier branded device ( many do not even know this phone exists) . Now to the 2nd part: I believe your insurance and jump program will not transfer to the ultra because it is not sold by T-mobile and that program it is only effective with t-mobile branded hardware. My 2 cents. hope it helps. Thanks
