XDA use in motor vehicles - MDA, XDA, 1010 General

Please forgive me as I have never used this forum before!
I am hopefully going to upgrade to an XDA on May 12 2003 when my contract is renewable on O2 uk. At present I am using a nokia 8310.
I have several questions for the members of this forum...so here goes!
1), is the XDA equipped with GPRS, and if so so, , is it possible to get a program that incorporates a satellite navagation for use in a vehicle.
2) is there a car cradle available for the XDA
Many thanks for your help...and patients!

Yes its GPRS
Yes there is Navigation www.tomtom.com
Yes there are several car kits

XDA repair services - Radiotech, Norfolk

My XDA has suddennly decided not to switch on despite a soft and hard reset and with full power . Therefore, I am now forced to send my XDA to this place called radiotech somewhere in the boondocks of Norfolk, England.
Has anyone had experience with this service. They tell me it will take three to four working days to repair the device...although I am very skeptical, as this type of technology is more "throwaway, than repair". What do you all think...? :?:
Thanks
Gene

Cables for iPAQ, will they work for XDA?

I've just noticed the connector of the xda is exactly the same as the iPAQ 38xx (at least). So will they work with the XDA as well? (Serial? USB?)
Thanks.
No. The specific pins used for each function are different.
Yeah i had a Compaq 3800 and thought that it might work, trust me it didn't. I got another cable on EBay for 6 pounds.
PS - I'm an Australian in the UK about to move home, what network do you run your XDA on....

Right, I'm in Sydney, I bought an 64mb xda just about 2 weeks ago from ebay. I'm on vodafone. GSM and GPRS no problem. Work straight away (on pocketpc that is).

Asia XDA O2 not supporting Pocket PC 2003 mobile

 I really am pissed off, I just received this email from O2:
O2's position on Pocket PC 2003
O2 Asia will not be deploying the Pocket PC 2003 upgrade. The Pocket PC 2003 upgrade is subject to the original design of the hardware and the level of integration of the device, particularly between the phone and pda functions. The O2 xda was not designed to support Bluetooth and Wi-Fi and therefore could not take advantage of some of the most important feature upgrades inherent in Pocket PC 2003. After careful evaluation of the costs and benefits and the relatively low impact on the user experience of the current xda version, we have decided not to deploy this upgrade. We are however pleased to announce that we will be introducing significant new features with another upgrade which will include the wireless modem, SIM Toolkit support and the SMS caller ID fix.
Any body can help this poor fellow from Singapore.
Now im pissed, guess im going to be living on beta & unsupported (by O2) Windows Mobile 2003. I love it, i dont think i could go back to 2002.
Once the o2 XDA 2003 ROM is made public you'll be able to use it anyway so i wouldn't get to worried about this.
I can't imagine that o2 won't standardise on supporting 2003 on all HTC XDA devices, i think you've managed to get through to the wrong person on the wrong day.

Unlocking

Hello everyone,
First I would like to congratulate all of you for what you are doing. I would say I was more than impressed and if there is anything I can offer you guys I will do that. I am a programmer and currently I am developing Wireless XDA applications. I do have a problem and I am hoping that you might be able to sort me out. I purchased a T-Mobile PW10B1 XDA in United States and it was from T-Mobile Company therefore it is SIM locked. I live in Kenya and I really need to unlock it so as to use it on our local Network. It is having ROM Version O2 3.14 and I tried using 'XDAunlock.exe' but got an error.
Therefore the questions arise, how do I get ROM Version 02 3.16 or higher as I never purchased the gadget from QTek? Secondly, how do I tell if the XDA has Wireless Modem feature and is it mandatory? Lastly, how do I unlock the gadget?
Thanks in advance.
Regards,
Peter.

Requesting help regarding mobile internet. Anyone from Italy?

This is totally unrelated to this forum but I could use some help. If this thread does not fit the forum rules, this thread can be deleted.
My sister in law lives in Italy with her family. With whom we need to talk to. While I was living in Ireland, talking to them was never an issue. I was buying my family skype or fring credit to call them. They do not own a computer. But all my skype and fring credit have run out and can' t buy them from Bangladesh . So I asked my brother in law to buy a phone that would support skype or fring. But he does not have a clue what does he need to do. Now, if any one the XDA members could give me some info on the mobile network. The need a decent Internet package, 1gb data allowance. They would buy one of the nokia e series phone or an android. I have looked online, could not get any useful info since i do not understand the Italian language. But someone told me that they can get 1gb allowance from WIND for 10 euro per month but could not confirm that.
So any sort of help would be appreciated
