Does anybody experience of the message "Wireless Radio is OFF....blablabla"
This sucks bec even if my battery is 50% or more and the radio signal is good, This message suddenly pops out. They say that soft reset will correct the problem but after soft reset my O2 XDA wouldnt connect to carrier network anymore.
For me to connect to Phone network I have to plugin the charger at least 10 seconds then my XDA connects immediately to phone. The problem is I have experience being outside ofc or home and experience this, then my XDA phone feature is now useless.
Anyone there who has some fix for this problem.

It would help to know what Radio Software version and what OS version you use.

The interesting part is that I purchased this phone for some of the cool features like recording conversations, because I have had numerous bad experiences with my old Cingular wireless service. Anyway, so I call T-Mobile to discuss the problem (and record the conversation). The CSR Rep told me "the GPRS systems have a cue, and that the longer I leave the phone on the lower in the que i get. By soft resetting my phone (xda Pocket PC) that it put's me higher in the que. Well this does not work, and when I told her how amazed I was about this and that I was glad I recorded the conversation, she phreaked and told me to stop recording, then proceeded to hang up.
If this is ture I am really amazed, but it still does not get me higher in any que, when the service stops, it stays stoped until some time that it decides to come back on. (T-Maobile Atlanta, Ga. area)

please don't be annoyed that I bring up this topic again but I really don't know what to try anymore.
I have a XDA with
ROM-Version 3.14.16 GER
Radio-Version 4.21 (upgraded recently from 4.16)
My telephone network provider is tele.ring in Austria.
and my phone hangs up every hour or so, sometimes more often. Either the connection bar on the top showing the connection strength will drop to 0 and it says "no signal" or everyting seems to be okay, signal strength is there but I can't make calls. Basically the same thing as in posting http://www.xda-developers.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=455 where noone answered
I tried the following to solve this problem:
1. Got Phone Today from Burr Oaks Software because that lets you change the refresh rate, that is how often your Phone connects to the Network
2. Upgraded from Radio-Version 4.16 to 4.21.
3. Got a new simcard.
Nothing helped, now I am a bit desperate because a cell phone doesn't make a lot of sense if you can't be reached. Can anyone, ANYONE please help me here and give me a hint how to make the phone working ?

Hi everyone, I am sure i have read something about this in the forum befor but now cant find it.
I have a 64mb XDA that works fine, I about a month ago cooked up some roms all using the first version of 2003, i am also using radio 4.21 and i am in the UK on O2.
My problem is the coverage is not so good in places i go and the phone goes out of service, but the real problem is when i return to proper coverage the phone will not go back into service.
when the phone goes out of service there are dots undere the siginal aerial and they flash 1,2,3 1,2,3 etc but after a while they stop and if then i got back into a area of good service the phone will not log on, its as iff the phones tries to find service for a few mins then just gives up to save battery.
A quick reset and it works fine, but if you forget to reset it you have no service until you remember to reset it

Hi guys/girls
Have a XDA which has a very strange problem, I have signal, can send and take texts (Vodafone and Orange networks tested) but can not take or make a call, sometimes the phone will ring and then after about 5 sec's it will cut off and I will have missed call, I have tried to take the call but it say unable to take the call (have not yet got it to call out), now the Orange sim I use has GPRS and I get the little G up for about 2 sec's then it's gone again, so anyone had this problem before and can point me in the right place to get this fixed.
Also I got the phone like this so I know no histroy.

I'm guessing this is a hardware problem so any link's or pic's of the radio side of the XDA might help me to see if something has come loose or might need resoldering.

The XDA I have came with the Special Edition Rom v1.2 on it
I put in a vodaphone sim I know works and it allowed me to dial out - only to cut off as soon as it seemed to make a connection. So I tried to diel to it to get a message about a system error.
I tried an O2 new pay as you go sim and had the problem of the G2 symbol appearing and disappearing on me.
Anyone out there got any clues ?
Owlfandbg, this sounds to me like a blocked phone, I have been sold 2 phones in the past that did the same and found out they had been subject to insurance claims and blocked from all networks.
any ideas how I find out if the phone is blocked
and is there anything I can dan do about it?
If your radio stack is before 4.21 you can use xda manipulator to "manipulate" the imei which will then give you network access. I must qualify this by stating that interfering with the imei in the UK renders you liable to 5 years in jail plus a huge fine if you get caught.
First off, I did try to search for O2 but it is too short for this forum's search engine.
I have a Hermes that was originally on T-Mobile but I have used it on Vodafone for months without issue. I recently took a new job and they are on O2 but I have no end of issues with the phone being able to hold onto a decent signal. It constantly drops everything (phone and gprs/edge) and then reconnects sometimes minutes later. I also constantly miss calls because it won't drop the data connection in favor of the call.
Thinking that the phone might be on the way out, I tried it with my Voda sim and it works briliantly again. So aside from a horrible O2 network, could there be a better radio rom tailored to O2?
Unfortunately radios are hit and miss, you just have to try a few to see which one works best for you.
my firware is R26 Root. My friend told me many times my phone signal is not available. but i checked the phone , still with signal strength.
I doubt the main reason is I installed task manager to control memory usage. It might close some important program or service to cause phone function abnormal.
I ever swith to flight mode then back. this still can't solve it , until i power off , then power again. Any one know which service or program must be exist to prevent my phone working perperly ? Thanks.
I also have the same problem, sometimes my friends try to call and it goes straight to the voicemail service, even when my signal is at full strength...

My phone has been doing the same thing recently. By any chance are you both on Orange UK? There have been alot of data and network issues recently. Try phoning tech support and they have an automated message saying that there are problems. It's been going on for nearly two weeks on and off. Its getting really annoying now.
O2 uk here, have had this issue since I got the phone on and off.
Flashing, updating, rooting, nothing has corrected it.
It is also a problem for some of my friends on different networks, and this leads me to believe it is the phone, software or hardware not sure, as opposed to the network.

I find that when i enter my pin code en register my sim. After it went to flightmode. I won't go into flightmode again after that. Unless i use the taskkiller again.
Also not everytime i kill all apps, this happends.

OrangeUK here... same problem... will phone them tomorrow and post here the results.. I also noticed a strange error when i activate and deactivate plane mode, 3g stop working... and i need to reboot the phone to get it to work again.. same thing happen when I deactivate and activate again MMS&DATA Connection... then i have to reboot the phone to make it work again...
Anyone has the same prob???

Task killer gave a strange fault for me. Make a call, talk as you do, screen goes black, loud click in ear piece, screen comes back on. I had task killer set to work on screen going blank. Removed it, fault gone.

Remove the dialer and the android.serviceprovider.apk (something like that) from the task killer auto kill list. Put it on ignore list. It should work fine after that I guess.
Please don't even start about orange uk. I switched from o2 to orange so I could get a white x10. Worst mistake I've ever made. Where I work I get constant signal drop out even though the phone says I have full signal and it 3g signal is always inconsistance, and I work in a major town in essex. Had these problems ever since I've owned the phone and had many an argument with customer services who dont listen to you and just say there are a couple of masts in the area that are broken. Basically orange are full of s**t about there wonderful coverage in the uk!
