application or task bar - MDA, XDA, 1010 General

I'm searching for an application bar, or task bar (like icbar, wisbar, gigabar, ...) that can show running tasks in the title bar and that is able to show also antenna icon (the one who indicates the GSM network field).
Is there someone who can suggest me such an application?
Rudy

heh me too i uninstalled wisbar because it removed my gsm signal field

taskbar application
Hi,
Magicbutton (you can download from http://www.trancreative.com/) and/or PocketNav (http://download.com.com/3000-2178-10171351.html) are perfect.

yes, but magic button can show only one task bar at a time (usual pocket pc task bar or magic button task bar). When in magic button taskbar you can't see even the time icon and you always have to switch between the two bars.
I don't know pocket nav but I've heard that it cannot show running programs directly in the title bar, isn't it?
rudy

I use magicbutton, and I consider it one piece of art to be freeware ... let's remember that this is a pocket pc environment and not normal XP one. it has limited screen, RAM, CPU speed, ... etc.
the more fatures will be on one screen will make it inconvenient at the end ... maybe you should wait to have XDA III with WM2005

ok, apart of interesting XDA III ... is out there an application able to do what I said?
any experience?

Did you find anything?
You might want to check out GigaTask. This is not as powerful as Gigabar but does not hide the sig strength.
Or there is a new beta (v1.9) of Gigabar - have not tried it yet.
www.gigabar.com/beta

gigabar beta doesn't provide the feature to show network signal icon.
personally I don't like gigatask; btw there are many task managers of that type but nobody is able to show running tasks on task bar (or application bar, or navigation bar as mommy microsoft calls).
Rudy

I think that wisbar advance Phone edition would do what you want (and not only you).
I hope that it will be realesed soon.
You can find the forum on www.lakeridgesoftware.com
jeanlucve... why you don't like GigaTask?
It seems nice to me. Did you have any problems with it?
Thanks,
Uros

Did try using WisBar Advance but does not work properly on my xdaII.

Is there a Phone Edition? I couldn't find mention of it. I tried WizBar Advance and it blocked the SMS/missed call notification icon and also locked up my XDA II every now and then.

Sorry Urosh my mistake, re read your post and you mention it is in the forum section

GigaBar beta

I, too, really like GigaBar...except for the above noted blocking of the phone icons.
Gene hinted in one message on his Gigabar forum that he might be able to fix this...maybe some encouragement from all of us as to how important this would be as a feature...
I also tried GigaTask which does allow display of the phone icons...but then does not show battery strength, which I really miss.

How to HIDE / DISABLE / REMOVE system icons from taskbar

Please anyone knows how to disable selected icons form taskbar?
I want to have only
Battery , Signal strenght and Unread messages Notification icons togehter with the TIME
on the task bar, no need for having rest of the icons. (In the attachment are icons for SOUND LEVEL, icon with number 1 and Edge ) Please help, after couple of weeks of searching I am getting crazy.
Using Raphael, EnergyROM (1.2 Fuzeberry), latest newest shipped radio
Thank you .
Wisbar Advance will allow for this.

Guys,
thank you very much for your reply.
However none of this actually solves my problem.
I tried Wisbar, but it does NOT hide any of the icons that I want to hide.
Also, the thread mentioned does not say anything about HIDING the three icons, only about changing their look.
Am I wrong in my judgement?
Cheers
i think you are wrong, because if you know how to change an icon, you can change it to an one transparent pixel icon... if im wrong, would someone please correct my assumption; i only changed the start icon of my taskbar, but i think you can take an icon in the colour of your taskbar background, so it would be "invisible" ... am i wrong??

P.S. im also sure, that you can hide the icons with wisbar advanced eventally with the "wisbar advanced desktop" called variant that i used 2 years ago under WM2003, but its not easy to configure i remember

you are right about making icons transparent, but this does not solve my problem. I need MORE space on the taskbar, (the icon that displays number 1 is really annoying and USELESS, it serves for NOTHING at all). If I make the icons transparent, I will not see them, but they still will be there ocupying the precious space that I would use for somethibg else.
I tried the wisebar and I like it, (it is similar to Qmenu I am using), but again, it does not allow me to get rid of the annoying icons.
Am I doing something wrong? well, I am doing a LOT of thimgs wrong, but I mean in this case ...
Ok, now i see your problem, but im afraid, cant help you, but im still sure, that its possible to solve ...

I know for sure that wisbar advance does allow what you are talking about (but I'm not sure what the number one is though as I don't have that item on my taskbar). Make sure you aren't using the lite version. I dont have wisbar install right now so I cant remember exactly how to change it, but I know if can be done because I wanted the almost the exact some configuration as you and was only able to get it via that program. Play around with it some more and if you stilll cant find it let me know and I'll check it later when I have time.
Have you searched for reg edits? I know you can remove the battery. Notifications are a bit harder though. I'm pretty sure Wisbar advanced lets you customize what icons are present, but Wisbar basically just covers up the taskbar with an overlay.
What do you need all this "extra" room for? If you edit the phcanOverbmp.dll you can delete the icons, leaving only the ones you want. It won't "remove" the icons but would make them invisible so it appears to just be 1 long bar.
I dunno, but I can't figure out what you need all this extra "space" for. It appears that's gonna be your best and fastest solution without requiring a 3rd party app to always run in the background and having to deal with the overlay of Wisbar.
its easy,
All I want to have is on the taskbar ALLTHE TIME:
TIME, BAttery and notification, but the two marked icons (ASL and Edge) prevent me from viewing the rest ofd the icons.
I just finished testing with Wisbar that unfortunatelly does not allow this. These two stupid icons that are no use for me, cannot be removed with Wisbar (latest version).
I would search the registry but where... And... I do not want to get rid of battery and time....
Same problem
Hi, I just want to remove the number 1 on the task bar. I have just installed the onyx ultimate 4.2.1 and it appeared after I turned on the cellular on the comm manager. The number 1 referrs to the phone line 1. It really annoying to se it there.
please help someone!!!
Hello. Also same problem. Also using the HTC Touch Pro (right forum, right? Pretty sure.)
This is whats on my Elite ROMS system bar:
I would like to get rid of the big H icon. It goes ot the same thing the H(with signal bars) does! And I would be able to see the entire programs name if it were removed. That, or at least my notifications wouldn't be grouped into the "Talk bubble" icon. I hate when that happens. Three friggin clicks to dismiss an alert!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Any idea? [subscribed]
Thank you for bringing this up because I use OzIM and nothing drives me more insane than not realizing I have a missed call because of the multiple notification bubble. I would be happy just to see signal strength, and thats it. I use a battery bar at the top of the screen so that battery status can go away. I hope someone finds a solution I would life to know as well.
Why not just edit the DLL files where the icons are stored...that should do the trick.
Use reshacker to edit the dll files..
what ddl files are they stored in?
Wont that only make the invisible (vs GONE). I.e. the goal is to recover the space they are inhabiting and slide the others over towards the right.
Removing the image will only "blank" out the space, not slide the others to the right.

use icon size 1 pixel width...make transparent.
They are stored in shellres.192.dll and phcanOverbmp.dll...maybe some other places too but the majority should be there.
ok ... I'm pretty sure this isnt gonna work based on the pervious comments in this thread.
But I wont know til I try. So off I go to try....
Found the shellres.192.dll file .. but if I try to copy it off the device via activesync, windws wnt let me. What gives???
How do I get it off my phone?!

Ticking Timer

I developed very simple application - stop-watch with sound. The application provides sound every second. The application is useful for creating nervous environment for some tasks with time limit
Tried on HTC Touch HD and HD2.
Attached Russian version as well (TickTimerRus).
I am going to test.
Thanks
Hi!
I like simple timer + stopwatch like this
But this type of app would be more useful if their running values are visible at the home-screen so I can easily check their values by just pressing home-key instead of taskmanager.
Another advantage of home-screen plug-in is that I will never forget them running in the background eating battery.
cheers!
New version
Ok, for you I made special one - but, since home plugins are rarely used with new devices, now the ticktimer status is displayed as taskbar icon. Works well on HTC HD2, not sure about other devices. Also changed the colors to dark.

[Q] Notification Bar Concept

So, imagine this:
You're deep into an application, using it, whatever it might be...say, an email app for example. While reading your email you and a peer are discussing a particular topic...say a fantasy football trade. You are wanting to trade Chad OchoCinco for Donavon McNabb with a fellow player in your league. So you begin to reply, but suddenly you have an ADHD moment. You say to yourself, "I believe I remember ESPN tweeting about McNabb earlier today on how they think he might not play next weeks game. I should check quick." So you hit the home button on your phone, then open up your Twitter app to see what @ESPN said. They report McNabb is injured and will not play next weeks game. So then you open up your browser to see the headlines on ESPN to see whether or not there is a player worth trading for OchoCinco. After about 5 minutes, you return back to your email app to finish the email only to find your phones cache had filled and restarts the app completely and you have lost what you were in the middle of writing.
The solution:
What if we created a new type of notification bar? What if, while not just including power controls and message notifications, we could be relayed even more info? What I'm imaging is this: What if there was a way to include RSS feeds such as Tweets, Facebook notifications, and news headlines into the status bar? That way when you drag it down you can either drag down further, or left and right to access said feeds with the notification bar?
Please include your thoughts and discussions in this feed!
Reminds me of the Samsung Continuum bottom screen.

Great idea! But sadly, the big Steve will put it in the his next iyo-es.
Nvm, we'll cook it ourselves. Plus, our original notification bar has a lot of rooms for improvement. It's nice to have a tweet bar in it, or check in button, with side-scrollable rss. We should make use all the pixel available, minimize the power menu, stack same notification into one category, and if we can, customize all the notification to our hearts content. Push notifications should be doubled their size, and can show on top of any application. It will slide in for a brief moment and then fades away.

Well, sort of. But, being said before, I prefer the iOS5 notification concept. But I'm sure it will require integration with all the apps. Sound pretty much as the rumoured ice-cream sandwich, but nothing is confirmed yet. At least now we can focus on optimizing the current notification bar.

Theoretically, any device running whatever version of Android it's programmed in. What would be nice if Cyanogenmod could it include it alongside their work. *nudge nudge, wink wink*
This would be multitasking in every sense of the word. Nice concept and I hope devs can figure this out.

In a way to save pixels for more places, the notification need not take a whole row but instead just TILES. Imagine when they are put into tiles, we could have 3-4 taking one row, taking much less spaces.
Then we can have multiple tabs as well (like the Sense 2.1 or MIUI GB) where we can put WIDGETS into it, apart from giving us power control toggles and recent apps.
Only issue is, it could be too tedious for single core processor.
I'm thinking an universal MIUI notification bar????

Ideas for new apps

I'm looking to create another app and wanted to see if there are any ideas out there in XDA-land. My existing app is listed below in my sig. Preferably not a niche application and would rather come up with something that could gain pretty high visibility.
Ideas?
There's an entire forum dedicated to app requests on androidforums.com . You may want to check there.
Oh slick thanks! I'll check that out.
you can try this
App that shows data transfer rate(WIFI,Mobile data) on the notification bar
here are some apps for eg--
DU meter but its in the notification panel...i need one in the notification bar
and there was another app called network meter and lots of other...
https://play.google.com/store/apps/d...oidMeter&hl=en
https://play.google.com/store/apps/d...c3BlZWQucHQiXQ..
but none of them have it on the notification bar....
this one fits my need...
https://play.google.com/store/apps/d...ZHNlcnZpY2UiXQ..
but isnt refreshed in real time
and slows the phone and battery life
Questions should be asked in the Q&A forums, not Development forums.
Thread moved.

The problem is android doesn't actually support dynamic notification icons. So to change the number of a data rate to be real time you essentially have to re submit the notification over and over which would kill your battery.

clipboard sync
I have been searching for one app from very long time now.. My idea for a app is clipboard sync.. Its like the clipboard of my pc and mobile is shared.. either through internet/wifi.. or some notepad kind of thing.. when i copy and paste it on that window it should appear on the same type of window in my phone too.. Online sync.. then we can have option like whether we want to save them or something.. It will help most of the time as we need to copy some address/note from my pc to my mobile to send it as a message may be.. There are some apps on that regard.. evernote is too big with all those crap features which most of people do not use.. I could have done this but sadly i am not a developer .. point me to some app if its already there and i couldnt find it.. And if any developer came across this post please let me know if you are interested to make this app..

Is there *ANY* A11/A12 way to hide/free the status bar space?

Hi,
I got a used OnePlus 7T Pro, because it was a better choice for me in many ways than new phones. I just absolutely love the screen.
But I was trying to find out, how to make actually everything fully use it. Afaik there used to be a way on A10, that is no longer working.
So I searched the whole week how to hide the status bar, and in the end decided to even root and try various Magisk modules, or EdXposed/GravityBox stuff, pretty much anything I could find because many people reported "status bar height = 0" to do the job. But it really doesn't.
It allows to hide the *contents* of the status bar, BUT the space there is still covered by an ugly bar that apps (browser, whatsapp, anything) aren't drawing over. And that looks even worse than having clock+battery present honestly :'(
So I am desperately trying to search for ANY way to accomplish a fullscreen experience. Does anyone know of one?
I actually like the stock OxygenOS personally. But at this point, I'm willing to hop on any good quality custom rom that would allow it.
(I am even considering somehow downgrading to A10, but would absolutely prefer not to).
I can't believe people here aren't all over this / that everyone with 7/7T pro didn't already do everything in their power to accomplish a full system-wide fullscreen experience. So, desperately pleading anyone, is there some Rom/Mod/Module allowing this?
Thanks
Oh, one additional thing: I noticed, that when changing the option under
Settings -> Developer -> Display Cutout
The status bar (and the reserved space around it) actually does change and move up/down for various options. The "Waterfall Cutout" makes the bar significantly narrower, and apps are properly respecting it (= being drawn a bit higher) too. Which gives me some hope.
There is an installable Magisk module called "None Display Cutout" from here:
[Remove display cutout][ROOT] Full screen 21:9 for apps in landscape, incl Netflix.
Requirements: Magisk root. Download and install the "None Display Cutout" in the Magisk managers module repo. It will add an option in developer settings display cutout options, "No Display Cutout". Choose it, and apps, including netflix, will...

These just don't try to accomplish complete status bar disappearance, but they touch on the "Display Cutout" settings in some way. So they *could... maybe* be modified to make the status bar completely disappear? Since they alter the overall display bounds even on Android 11 successfully.
Honestly, those 2 are the most promising directions I stumbled upon, but I personally don't know how to modify them to do what I want (= shrink the whole status bar area to 0 pretty much)

I too am desperately looking everywhere having hidden the status bar for years and can't find any way to hide it anymore did you find anything that works? i'm rooted with magisk
I am sorry to say that I gave up. If you have energy to be dealing with this still and manage to find a good solution, pls ping me, but otherwise I'm now in peace with not being able to get rid of it Wish I could help but I tried for some time and just didn't find anything fully working.
Fullscreen immersive app can do this and I think Apex launcher can hide this too
I was aiming for getting rid of the status bar everywhere, in photos, twitter, maps, browser etc, not just homescreen (Apex).
And any "immersive apps" that sort-of work only manage to hide the time+notifs+battery from the status bar, but actually retaining the status bar itself :'(( Aka, any app starts drawing only under the area where the status bar always is. So I don't see the battery+time there, but I see an empty space - at that point it's just better to have the time there as normal, it just looks bad when simply empty :-|
Afaik the "immersive app" only work "properly" on the older android versions that support immersive mode, which newer androids don't (((

androplus wrote a magisk module that hides the status bar in MIUI. I'm not sure if it will work on other devices or not but it works on my Mix Fold 2. definitely worth trying. search the mix fold 2 forum for the link
I own OnePlus 7 Pro and I spent 2 months trying to find the solution. Status bar... I hate it too. So... it will be hit or miss for every app, but (for example Google photos is crashing with it) ... If your phone is rooted and you have installed Magisk:
Download and install LSPosed Framework modul (Zygisk version should be better)
In LSPosed Framework->Repository->Search->App Settings Reborn and enable it.
In App Settings Reborn choose any app you wanna tweak to eliminate Status Bar and then click on the wheel at bottom right corner. Now, you will have to go app after app to tweak it. Choose one and enable tweaking at left top corner. These three options are your new friends: auto hide fullscreen, no title and fullscreen.
Just don't be me... don't forget to stop app you are tweaking or it will not work immediately and don't forget to save the settings you chose by clicking on that floppy disk. And as I wrote earlier, some apps will behave weird and some will crash. Have fun.
