Help upgrade French qtek 2020 1.66 to english

Hi
I had my QTEK 2020 (bought in sweden with english system) stolen in Paris and bought a new one in Paris with French system 1.66. .
I tried to change to English system with ruu16021wwe_dangaard.exe it started the upgrade correct but newer ended, no error whas displayed.
Tried once more and it stops at" getting information from the device"
Now the QTEK 2020 starts showing serial and v1.06 down att the screen.
can´t connect to active sync. XDA tools works until programA starts and tries to connect.
My rom copy of the french system1.66 is also not possible to reinstall
I use windows XP system with XDA Tools and also tried to use the http://xda-developers.com/~itsme/download/wbt-1.5.tar.gz, image but it is not recognized by XDAtools and can´t be copied to any SD. Should it work?
What to do?
Any one in sweden with some good rom´s for me?

02 XDA2 correct country code upgrade 1.72WWE

my first post and contribution.. hopefully it would be alot of help to other people..
this is the official IMATE 1.72 ROM...except that it was encoded to work with O2 XDA2 units
added the O2 splash screen to retain the O2 bootup image -just load O2.cab into your XDA2
the upgrade utility shouldnt show you any more country ID error for O2 XDA2 units.. if there are problems.. holler me ASAP!!
feedbacks would be nice, coz i would like to make upgrades for other Network providers as well..
Thanks for that.
Can you show me a step by step guide on how to upgrade O2 xda 2 1.60.WWE version to this?
Thanks again.
ok... im not an expert yet, coz i just had my XDA2 for a week, but i do enjoy tweaking and playing with it.. besides, the knowledge i gain thru reading this forum is more than enough..
ok.. here goes..
1. create a full BACKUP your XDA2.. (but i dunno if this is helpful should you fail to upgrade your ROM)
2. download the above file and extract it.
3. you should see it extract 7 files.
4. put your xda2 in the cradle connected to the PC
5. run HimaUpgradeUt.exe
6. wait around 30-60 mins. then follow the procedure as shown on your computer. (a hard reset would be required)
7. after the upgrade is done, you should see the IMATE screen upon booting up (instead of the O2 bubble screen) if you wanne be extra sure, check your XDA2 version.if everything is ok, then you should have upgraded it correctly
8. if you want to revert to the old O2 splash screen during bootup, then copy O2.cab to your XDA2 and run it there. Do a soft reset, and voila, it should be back to the old O2 bootscreen.
I suggest that you contact your NETWORK PROVIDER because you will need to manually configure GPRS, MMS, and INTERNET settings on your xda2 after doing the upgrade.
WARNING: i wont be held responsible or liable for failed upgrade of your unit. Please understand that by agreeing to upgrade your XDA2, you are taking full responsibility of whatever untoward incidents that may occur to your XDA2. Flashing the rom might lead to DATA LOSS, SYSTEM MALFUNCTION, and even DEVICE MALFUNCTION.
but.. the rewards of upgrading it is sweet!
Many thanks for all of these description.
BTW, how do you feel the upgrade?
What you really get from this?
Can you share with us?
Thanks again.
Cheers mate.
i dunno, im just a week old newbie in using XDA2
i just enjoy tweaking the XDA..so far, no problems here.
My xda2 currently is 1.66wwe. after upgrade to 1.72wwe, what's the different between it? anything increase? sorry because i'm a new bird
did a lil research.. so far, came to this...
The 1.72 ROM eliminates the majority of problems from the 1.66 ROM such as:
Increased battery drain
Device slows down
Bluetooth GPS devices don't work, even with Pocket Bluetooth Tools
Can it be downgraded back to O2 xda2 1.60WWE Rom?
Many thanks.
i doubt that it can be downgraded... i havent personally tried to downgrade my ROM to a lower version.. but there are other threads related to this, and they claim that when they tried downgrading their ROMS, their XDA2 died....
you can try searching for other topics if there are information about downgrading... .so far, i dont have any problems with my 1.72 ROM...
except that there is no running program application which enables me to switch off any running program in the background.. but i easily remedied it by downloading TASKMANAGER.... its quite the same with running programs...other than that, so far, so good.
Error 121 Language ID Error
Hi,
after running HimaUpgradeUt.exe I get the message:
Error 121 Language ID Error (N-2-1-0-1), the ROM image that you are trying to use is not designed to work with your Pocket PC.
I ran ERedit2003 Version 1.2.20 and opened the file ms_.nbf using the password 0x20040305. I saved the file with the different language settings WWE, ENG and GER. Always the problem remains the same.
My XDA2 currently has ROM 1.66.01GER.
Thanks for help.
try to change the operator name , too! or use other hymalaya upgrade files, from other roms!

Hi,
Thanks. But now I get the message:
Error 120 Language ID Error ( N-1-8-1-8 ), the ROM image that you are trying to use is not designed to work with your Pocket PC. I tried with settings O2 WWE, O2 GER and O2 ENG.
When specifying CDL instead of O2 the error code changes to Error 120 Language ID Error ( N-1-8-8-8 ).
So the problem remains the same

Help for beginners: upgrading O2 Xda II to ROM 1.72
New to Forum-sorry to be slow on the uptake. I am trying to undersand how to upgrade O2 Xda II (ExROM 160.50) to ROM 1.72 without losing the machine. Waxx says you need to reconfigure the ISP settings (I assume because they are lost in the upgrade). I cannot find O2 settings for GPRS Interenet and MMS on the net. Talking to O2 is a waste of time.
Does anyone have a step by step description that results in ROM 1.72/Radio 1.18 (or lower if 1.18 still in beta) working on O2 Xda II?
Has anyone reported doing it sucessfully. Have non recoverable failures been reported?
RamyG
Just copy the attached CAB file across to say, My Documents on your XDA, and run it via FileManager.
It will customise your O2 XDA II with all the correct settings.
Once it has done that (and you've tested it works), just uninstall the O2 Active bit and your settings will remain (well they did on mine)
BTW - I upgraded to the new ROM, and have had no problems at all ! Very sweet
Mark
Thnx Mark, just to make sure before I jump in: the steps are:
(1) upgrade to 1.72 using Waxx's attachement (is that the file you used?) (2) follow the procedure you described and I will get O2 customised Xda II (same as where I started) but with ROM1.72 and later Radio Stack. Right?
2 questions:
(a) are the GPRS setting for MOBILE WEB (post paid)
(b) what benefits should I expect from the upgrade? (other than the satisfaction that it succeeded, l if it works?
thnx
RamyG
Yep I used the attachment from Waxx ...
The procedure you mentioned is correct ... I did have a few heart stopping moments after the upgrade because (like you) I couldn't find the necessary settings for GPRS etc .. but the O2 cab file re-installs everything back to what it should be for the UK.
You are prompted to choose relevant settings - in this case you get a choice from either post-paid (MobileWeb) or PrePay ...
As for benefits, people are reporting better bluetooth support, and better battery life. Only upgraded mine yesterday, so can't comment on either yet !

Has anyone else had problems charging overnight with the ROM version?
Got Error 120: Country ID error N-8-1-1-1
Hi all,
I am new member here. I did upgrade to ROM 1.72WWE and seems working fine. Because the PDA is idle, I try to roll back to ROM 1.60.44 eng. and got the country id error N-8-1-1-1. I tried to set the regional to English (UK) and English (US) but failed. Any comment? My XDAII is bought from Asia-HK. Thanks a lot.
Chris
Mark thnx for your help. For all those undecided souls I can report that Waxx's ROM 172 upgrade works fine for O2 Xda II. (BTW: it takes 3 times as long to upgrade as they say it does - it's 30 min for each of ROM ExROM and Radio modules).
Mark, O2.cab did not work as exepcted for some reason. When I ran it, it simple created a text file with O2 network config info and did not actually configure the Xda II. The info was correct and a manual config worked first time. Puzzled, I ran the O2 cab again but from another directory. This time I got the O2 spiral (I may have gotten the network configed again I can't know as I had previously configured it manually . The upgrade did lose the O2 dialer screen and reverted to the iMATE one. This is trivial. the Net is full of free attractive skins. e.g http://sourceforge.net/projects/pocketpc-apps/
Mark Peters- I thank you again.

HOWTO: change a Softbank X01HT from Japanese to English

I bought a Softbank X01HT after finding this site, and as a total WM5 newbie, decided I would switch the phone from Japanese to English. It took me 5 days of lurking around this site, but I finally did it. Here's a summary of my efforts for those of you who dare follow:
Unlock the phone
I went here to get it done: http://www.imei-check.co.uk
Download and Install English ActiveSync from Microsoft
Get it here:http://www.microsoft.com/windowsmobile/activesync/default.mspx
I'm using v4.2
Disable Advanced USB Networking
If ActiveSync keeps disconnecting on USB, then go to Settings > Connections > Usb to PC, and disable advance network funtctionality.
Here's the thread that describes the problem: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=276783
Flash with an English ROM
Here's the post that I followed: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=280566&page=7
Here's the ROM for JASJAM_WWE_1.20.305.3_1.20.305.104_1.07.03.10_ship
Note: the ROMs and the ExtendedROMs are not the same. The Flash will take about 30 mins. It will reset when done, and then ask you to align the screen. I just did as I was told. when done, it automatically started to load the included ExtendedROMs.
Unhide Extended ROM folder
Install fit4cat Hermes Tweaker, I used v1.1a. Get it here: http://www.fit4cat.de/thread.php?threadid=56
From the earlier post, enable 'HSPDA settings' and check all the boxes on the 'security' tab (mount extROM, unlock extROM, allow non certified apps)
Install the Softbank Extended ROMs
Get the Softbank Extended ROMs from this page: http://wiki.xda-developers.com/index.php?pagename=Hermes_ExtendedRoms
Move the contents of the folder to your /ExtendedROM folder then do a HARD reset
How to do a HARD Reset
The instructions for a HARD reset are located here: http://wiki.xda-developers.com/index.php?pagename=Hermes_Resets
Make sure you see the menu with the press 'R' to reset. If you don't, you didn't do it right. Try it again.
Apparently, after a Hard reset, you will automatically start the 'autorun' script for the Softbank Extended ROMs, and this will add the settings for using data over the Softbank 3G network. If you still don't get a data connection to the Softbank Network, you can add it manually. Read this page for details (#17): http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=280566&page=2
Install a Registry Editor
I chose the one included in the Resco Explorer. Even though your processor is by Samsung, make sure you download the CABs for the ARM/Xscale processor.
Get it here: http://www.resco.net/pocketpc/explorer/indepth.asp
Note: you have to install the Explorer and the Registry Editor plugin
Do the Japanese Keyboard Hack
The key thing to remember is that even though your Hermes speaks English, the keyboard uses a Japanese layout. The code for Japanese is 0x0411
[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\ControlPanel\Keybd] "Locale"= 0411 (Hex, not String)
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Oem\Qwerty] "Layout"= 20411 (Hex)
[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\keyboard layout\Preload] "Default"= e0010411 (Hex)
[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\keyboard layout\Preload\1] "Default"= e0010411 (Hex)
Install Japanese Language Fonts
Now that your Hermes speaks English, you can't see Japanese Web pages. This CAB will fix it. Get it here: http://asukal.seesaa.net/article/6912738.html
Install BTaudio Hack
This hack lets you route the PDA audio to your Bluetooth headset. Without it, you can only use the headset for the phone. It worked fine with my Motorola HS850 set to the "Hands Free" BT profile. I used the version from this post (includes a link to the CAB): http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=1044017#post1044017
and Voila! you are ready to go.
Of course, before you start you should read the following:
http://wiki.xda-developers.com/index.php?pagename=Hermes_For_Beginners
http://wiki.xda-developers.com/index.php?pagename=Hermes_UpgradeFAQ
http://wiki.xda-developers.com/index.php?pagename=Hermes_UpgradeProblems
The above is a summary of what I did, and it worked for me. But, of course, nothing is warranted and proceed at your own risk. yada yada.
good job man. really appreciate your contribution

No need to unlock if you don't want to expend the 20GBP, you just need to donwgrade to bootloader 1.04.
1) Download M3100v3cUnlock.exe from imei-check, but do not pay ;-)
2) Turn phone on and connect to pc (green ActiveSync icon in system tray)
3) Start M3100v3Unlock.exe and close it when it asks for the .unl file with your imei, the device should stay in bootloader (tri-color) screen or a white screen.
4) disable USB connections on activesync
5) Run the extracted 1.04 bootloader-only upgrade, version will be shown as 9.99.999.9 just click next / update.
6) When upgrade ends device will softreset and you'll have bootloader 1.04 in your device which will allow you to flash any rom without CID checking
Then follow the rest of the language switching process with the good mixersoft explanation
4) disable USB connections on activesync
5) Run the extracted 1.04 bootloader-only upgrade, version will be shown as 9.99.999.9 just click next / update.

About this step, it means I have to unplug usb cable from pc before uses bootloader ?
thank you.
No, sorry if I was not clear, it means you have to right click on active sync icon, select "connection settings" and disable the checkbox for "Allow USB connections".
thank you. I will try.
Hello! pof;
3) Start M3100v3Unlock.exe and close it when it asks for the .unl file with your imei, the device should stay in bootloader (tri-color) screen or a white screen.
4) disable USB connections on activesync

I use M3100v3Unlock.exe after it asked me for .unl file I close it and device automatically reset. Then I use 1.04 bootloader-only upgrade and try to upgrade
(with disable USB conection on activesync) it says error because can not find conection. How will I do?
Thank you.
Just tell the upgrade utility to continue without verifying... or do not disable usb connections in activesync, iit is not really that important, upgrade will go on equally
I tried to do for many times but failed. And this the message from upgrading.
Error 256 here is the image of it.

What happens if you follow my steps in post #3 but do not do "step 4"? (ie: do not disable usb connections in activesync).
The update should be fine after that, only that it starts from bootloader not from OS and the rom utility says it cannot find the "current" version, but should follow as normal.

in step#3 after I close M3100v3Unlock.exe when it ask .unl file. Device automatically reset, it not stay in White screen or tri-colour screen. So I run

thanks so much.
ps. anyone succeed with this solution?

Do not let the device reset, disconnect it from usb (don't worry, it is safe), and close the unlocker then. When unlocker is closed reconnect the device and follow with the extracted-bootloader-1.04 upgrade.
Works!! Thanks
It worked for me. Thank you for your time and energy... Its working on Softbank network in Kanto. I just need to install the .cabs for Japanese. I cant read Kanji very well but it just looks better than Obakemoji..
Thank you very much Pof.
I follow your last post and it work for me.
When my device was blank screen I dis connect usb cable and then
run bootloader upgrade( not tick Allow usb connection in Active sync).
From now, I will start to flash rom and then install Thai and Japanese SIP.
Actually, some Thai sip can use with WM5 Japanese OS can input(visual keyboard) Thai word
but can not read homepage or use handwriting.
thank you again Pop for your help.
HI
I have a question about this.
After language change to English the phone work 100% fine?
All applications, all softbank services and etc ?
I wish to change my phone to this X01HT, but i will do this only if I can use the phone 100% in english.
Thanks

Yes, it will be flashed with an english rom, you will be able to use it in english without problems
One more question for confirmation before flash.
Install the Softbank Extended ROMs
Get the Softbank Extended ROMs from this page: http://wiki.xda-developers.com/index...s_ExtendedRoms
Move the contents of the folder to your /ExtendedROM folder then do a HARD reset

in this step, it means that after finish flash rom I have to put Softbank Extended Roms into Extended Roms? How about data in Extended Rom before I put Softbank Extended Roms into I have to delete them all? Or no data in Extended Roms after flash? If it is emtpy extended rom I see.
Wow this is amazing. I did a major Homer Simpson this week when I picked up my new X01HT and didn't think to ask the sales lady whether it could switch to English. My Japanese is REALLY basic, so THANK YOU so much for this thread and to all the guys contributing.
I agree with taicyber, my question is the same....are the Extended ROMs nessisary? Basically I don't care about "extra features" etc etc. I just want a working phone in English which doesn't kill my contract with Softbank in anyway (apart from the fact that doing this will void any warrantee).
Otherwise awesome post and I can't wait to get stuck into this....heres hoping I don't brick it....lol.
Thanks for answer me!
Another question.
You know if have any others language to install ?
English is just fine , but Brazilian Portuguese is my primary language. Any chance to change to Portuguese too ?
Or Spanish?
Thanks again

No, it is not necessary, you can skip the extended rom step if you want. And if you are not happy after this, you can install the cabs from the softbank extended rom (or any other) later.

The languages available are the ones on the shipped roms on the wiki:

You can flash whichever you like, it doesn't have to be JasJAM rom as pointed on the first post of this thread, this was just an example.

WM6 sketchyness

Hello,
I have just done the following:
-Unlocked phone.
-Unlocked the super CID.
-Upgraded the SPL
-Ran mtty and formatted, and then installed WM6
The problem is WM6 is sketch for the following reasons.
-Its tempremental. I mean sometimes it turns on and it says "power off".
-Joystick is not working all of the time.
-Quite a bit of it is in Chinese.
The question(s) is:
-Where can I get a good working version of WM6.
-If I am re doing the ROM then can you tell me if all I need to do is run mtty, and format and install?
Cheers
John
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=330709&page=25
my post
Thanks for the reply.
Its in Chinese though I think.
Can I just change regional settings to make it English?
Or do I need a language pac?
If I can, can someone or you tell me what options it would be as I do not speak Chinese lol.
Cheers
it is in english!
start - 7 - 0 - 2
there you can change the language

WM6 to 2003se STEP BY STEP

Is there anyone who want to tell me how to do this? But step by step! It's SPV C550 with Qtek and WM6-413rom! No such an explanation on this forum about this!
first you must access to bootloader mode in your phone.
next run mtty and enter following commands
info 2
format BINFS
next must to restart your phone and again access to bootloader mode, but don't open mtty!! just run installation of some wm2003 for hurricane (like from qtek8200 or sda II) and its all
sorry for pure english
and where is a original 2003 ROM?
I have the one rom on russian(8200 qtek), but is there somethinn' on english?
I will be greatfull for someone put a link to it!? I NEED THAT ROM!
The russian qtek ROM can be set to the english, but i'm not 100% sure about that.
yes it's tru. russian rom support english language
Help! When i try to format in mtty i type "format ALL" and put SDA II rom(and it's same with qtek 8200)! And then this message lightis on "Data crash, connect your service"?! (i was pissed because it's didn't work in regular way to put WM6, so i typed this command)! I trying to put patched SPL to foramt again (with "format BINFS" command) but seems to be that is not posible! :S (sry for english) phone is working, boot is working too... Is there way to back in my phone or i break it!? i need answer very quickly so know to buy a new one!
