Can I go back to 1.03 - MDA II, XDA II, 2060 ROM Development

Anyone got a download for the 1.03 ROM. Since I upgraded to 1.6 I'm getting problems with audio files .... but worse, my XDA2 now will not see my external GPS via any of the COM ports (It's a cable connected one). I had got it working fine under 1.03.

ROM Install Help on 8525

So I recently downloaded the "RUU_Hermes_CINGULAR_WWE_2_1_[1].15.502.3_6275_1.40.30.00_108_Ship" ROM for my 8525, in hopes that it will provide me with a more stable pda/phone enviroment so that I may do the work I need to without having to hard reset every other day or so.
When I try to run the ROM install, I follow all the insturctions but when the update starts to run, it shuts my activesync connection off so the update can't run and throws back an error that it lost connection with the device.
Any Help Here? Thanks
PS: I love the idea of being able to use my 8525 for all my work and play needs, but if this update doesn't help make the device more stable, I will have to sell it for something that doesn't crash this much.
hey..iv got same problem.. i think it maybe cause we are using windows vista (thats the only information i can find about it).. i wanted to update ma rom aswell
I'm using XP Pro.
try running it on another system...if available...
anyone know the solution to this?!
OK, have you installed HardSPL ??
Check my SAFE WM5 upgrade guide, if you follow the procedures in there you should be fine.
Yeah, as far as stability goes most the wm5 roms out of the box aren't going to be the best. with any rom i use sktools to tune it up for performance/stability settings. It does this automatically so you don't have to find various registry keys. So don't think just because you are going to another rom everything will be okay.
Read the wiki, search the threads, you will find answers to all your problems.
As far as you not being able to connect what is your spl number? Also, have you tried hard reseting then connecting or trying another computer. I had the same problem when downgrading a black 2.5 with hard spl 2.1 ( i had to downgrade to send it back to cingular). I ended up just downgrading to the highest version of cingular rom which is branded AT&T. It looked like a pretty good rom but I did not play with it.
he does not need hardSPL(at least i dont think so) he is just runnning an update for another cingular ROM, its still the same CID...try running it on another system, i had this same problem and it worked on another system....

HardSPL will protect him against a faulty SPL flash if it occurs, a newer SPL is likely to be in the ROM update aswell as a newer radio possibly. Having the same CID doesnt matter because if the radio or SPL flashing procedure messes up it can create a bricked device VERY easily (corrupt SPL or even a corrupted CID/Radio BL). Besides if he already has HardSPL that would explain why the RUU doesnt reconnect when the device is in bootloader mode.

point well taken...=)
you mention, since he has already gotten HardSPL, why would that mean his device doesnt reconnect in bootloader?
put it in bootloader first and then run the update...
make sure you disable usb connections with active sync put your phone in bootloader and run the update might as well go with WM6 its a lot more stable than any WM5 rom i have played with .
OS crash
I run ROM install then computer shuts itself now my 8525 show hi true color with red/blue/white i tried to hard reset to solve but till hi true color what should i do?

I've run there updates on my 8525. If the computer is shutting itself down, try another computer. This sounds odd. More of a computer problem then a Tytn Problem.

=) have you even tried it?
I'm having a problem connecting ActiveSync over USB. When I first got the phone I was able to use that connection. Then I set up BT ActiveSync. I believe at the time I could use either USB or BT, but it has been a while. BT sync was so much more convenient for me that I haven't used my USB connection except for charging the phone.
Today I tried to get set up to upgrade the ROM, but ActiveSync doesn't seem to work over USB anymore. I turned off BT on the phone. When I plug it into my laptop's USB port the laptop makes a sound indicating it sees the connection. It makes a different sound when I unplug it. I also see the orange charge light come on on the phone. I usually charge the phone this way when I am on the road since I don't carry the wall charger with me.
I think at one point I installed a river that I fdound here to access the phone in bootloader moder. Other than veryfying the phone connected this way, I never did anything with the driver. IT has been so long that I don't remember the details. Could that be affecting the connection for ActiveSync?
I have made sure my firewall is inactive. In Windows XP Device Manager I see an HTC USB Sync device under Windows CE devices. Would it be safe to remove that device?
Any ideas how I can get USB ActiveSync to work again?
Is it totally crazy to try the ROM upgrade over the BT connection?

You may want to try using the Hard SPL v7 and then install your ROM. I did that and all went smooth as silk - six times now. I have been browsing ROMs to see which one suited my needs an personality, and it has been fun. You can find that on my FTP site at ftp://xda:[email protected]/xda_dlz/
This is a dynamic IP Address from a cable modem so two things are true
1. It is subject to change at any time.
2. It is not as fast as some of these speedy servers
But, I do know where it is.

I had tried this yesterday and checked the Enable advanced network functionality box. Today I unchecked it and suddenly the PC saw a new USB device (HTC Sync USB, I think). It still wouldn't sync automatically so I manually executed /windows/repllog.exe. This time it connected.
Some observations:
- After the connection was established the the name of my 8525 was changed to something different (something like WM_ComputerName1, Where ComputerName is my computer's host name). I changed the name back and was able to re-invoke repllog.exe and sync with the old name.
- If I disconnect the USB cable from the phone and plug it in again ActiveSync doesn't connect until I manually run repllog.exe. It does work when I run the exe on the phone manually.
I went ahead and started the upgrade process after connecting by running repllog.
Executing the RUU file from the HTC site first put SPL 1.11 on the phone and left the phone in bootloader mode (with the tricolor screen). I left the phone with bootloader screen and followed the instructions (although by now ActiveSync had shut down so the part about the AS connection that the installer asked for was not true). The progress bars appeared on both the phone and the PC. It took a few minutes to complete, but the update was successful.
After the upgrade I was able to sync over USB without any problems. I am now syncing my contact from Lotus Notes and setting things up to my liking. Once I got over the USB connection problem everything worked fine!

installing a rom without activesync

I have a cingular wizard with WM6 TNT 1933 (Build 18533.0.7.0) w/ TouchFlo. My battery recently died (thought it was bricked for a while, then tested the battery and bought a new one). My wizard won't connect to activesync through a usb cable(I have the advanced network checked OFF), and I don't have a bluetooth adaptor on this laptop. I have wifi here. First off I want a different OS because this one is too loaded and there isn't enough free memory, a bunch of apps I don't need. Also I'm wondering if a new OS will let me connect to activesync. Is there anyway to load one onto there, or am I just F'd?
is the phone operational now?
im sure that sktools had a repair activesync option then you can flash whatever
Bluetooth
You can use bluetooth to connect with activesync

However ROM flashing must be done by direct USB connection, you didn't read the question carefully.
If you start RUU and plug the USB to your computer, the RUU screen on your wizard should display USB. If this is the case, you can run RUU directly.
If that doesn't work, try it on a different computer.
what about flashing a new rom via bootloader? have u tried that?
Htc fuze (raphael)
I know this is an old thread, but it came up when I searched this problem. I didn't find a lot of info easily, so I just tried a few things.
Problem: Cannot connect to ActiveSync because phone boots into Windows 6.5 beta and is locked at the screen saying the trial is over. When connecting it to the computer, the computer detected a device but ActiveSync could not connect.
Solution: Remove battery from phone and re-insert. Turn on while holding Volume Down button to get into serial mode. When you plug the phone into the computer in this mode, it should switch to USB mode. This allowed me to run RaphaelWrapper and then repeat the Volume Down boot once complete and reconnect to load the RUU for the AT&T stock OS.
If your phone does not switch from Serial Mode to USB Mode when connecting via USB, there is most likely a problem with the phone's USB port or a more serious problem than described above.
I hope this helps someone else! =)

[Q] Help needed. USB device not recognised.

Hi guys. I am in need of a little help.
This started last night. My HD2 has SPL-1.42 and has done since it was released. I am not a noob at flashing roms or indeed running Android Roms. I regard myself as being a bit of a geek and a bit technology savvy. Anyway....
Last night I flashed a new Rom (Energy.Leo.21916.Sense2.5.Cookie.sencity.Nov.30) all was going well. I flashed this rom as I liked previous roms by this chef and also to try and solve my email not being received problem. Unfortunately, emails still didn't work. Not a problem I thought, I will just used Android for my emails. Unfortunately for me the build I installed last night after installing the Energy Rom was slow and laggy for me. So I thought to myself that I would install a new WM rom this evening and the latest MDeejay Android Rom afterwards. So I went about the usual scenario of connecting my HD2 to Laptop in activesync mode(without Enable Faster Connection enabled(this is normal for me) but all I get from Windows is USB Device not recognised. I have tried with enable faster connection enabled, reinstalling Mobile Device Centre, different cable, different USB port, different PC, reflashed a rom via SDCard(transfered LEOIMG to SDCARD via adapter and run from SPL Bootloader). I even get the error when running Android. I have also checked the USB port on the HD2 for dirt, but nothing.
Can anyone suggest anything or is my HD2 knackered?
Thank you
Seg

Help needed

I have an old Hd2 (512mb) with a broken screen sitting in a draw. I had installed WP7 on it.
Looking at making this a back up phone if I can install android on it.
Trouble is since managing to get back to wm6.5, I have lost MAGLDR and spl now says 3.03.0000 instead of saying slp2.08.hspl as it did before. Also now I can not flash anything as it either have a crittical error and stopping (phone goes to % done screen then sits on 0% till crash alert on pc hits). I have tried flashing from the sd card and it goes to the white screen and says loading... then sits there.
Current specs
OS 5.2.21913 (21913.5.0.94)
Rom Ver. 3.14.4052.2 (04666)WWE
Radio 2.15.50.14
Protocol Ver. 15.42.50.11U
PB81100 HX-BC
SPL-3.03.000 XE
MicroP(LED) 0x05
MicroP(Touch) 0x30
Ok question is ... is this phone recoverable and how?
Many thanks in advance.
moved to general section. Booting a SD built from WM + clrcad+ haret is an option for you? there is a few roms GB, ICS even JB roms there ...
phone into bootloader - connect usb - run hspl4 - choose 2.08.hspl - back into bootloader - flash magldr
Thanks for the advice but already tried this.
Get all the way to installing then sits for 30sec and get critical error
more info
What is happening ...
phone connects & operates fine in wm6.5
phone connects via usb no problems both sync & hard drive modes work.
start hspl or any other flash app & it works detecting phone & spk version on it
goes to bootloader fine.
bootloader goes into usb mode fine
THEN bootloader either
with hspl bootloader becomes unresponsive/frozen, error message:
Critical Error
Flow: 00000006
Error Code: 00000011
Description: Unknown
with Rom/Radio/MAGLDR flashing will make it to the progress bar screen the sit on 0% until update error
After this need to do a soft reset or remove battery to restart phone, it then boots up into wm6.5 working fine.
don't start with winmo running, , the usb connection times out while the phone is rebooting.
Put the phone manually into bootloader, - connect usb - wait for serial to become USB and THEN run hspl.exe
perplexing
ok just tried this same results
I don't know what to think anymore about this as everything works upto the point that it actually flashes the software.
Even when I move the img file to th sd card and try to install from there it gets to the white screen then says loading... and freezes without bringing up fash or quit options.
Surely since its still working theres a way to make it flash again?
things that come to mind...
the OS on your PC can sometimes cause problems, , especially (but not always) 64 bit windows. If theres another pc in the house, try it.
corrupt usb drivers, if you;ve had the usb cable in teh same usb port all along, change it for a new one, and use a back mounted port, not a usb slot in eth front of the case (assuming a pc not a laptop)
corrupted spl of some kind. worry about this possibility later.
-
For me, the next steps would be:-
try another pc
then
try an sd card flash of the (correct) stock rom
then
report back
Success now halfway ...
Thanks for the help, finally got hspl, magldr and custom wm6.5 rom. Problem was with laptop 64bit win7, pc 32bit with virus scanner obstructing.
But all fixed now.
Now just have to find an android rom I want, figure out cwm ext4 ??? out. Radio 2.15 is bad, Radio 2.12 good then Radio 2.15 good ??
Got some figuring out to do nand vs sd, partition formats etc heads spinning again.
At least the phone is flashable again
Desire DL installed
Thanks for all the help. Finally got there android now installed on hd2. Very impressed. Will make a good back up for my one x.
