I upgraded my i-mate to their 1.72 release and everything was great yesterday. Then I woke up this morning and my PPC was dead. At first I thought it was a repeat of my 1.66 experiences, but after a hard reset, I discovered that the battery had completely drained overnight. From 80% full to dead in seven hours.
That´s what they call "Improved Battery Life"...
Sorry, but i havent had that problem...
Or, i have...
Did you restore a backup to the device, after upgrade?
If you did, that is probably the reason why it´s not working correcly.
Although, when i did that on 1.72 Beta, my device went dead..
After the 1.72 upgrade, I reinstalled all apps from scratch.
Wierd.. And the screen was not left on during the night?..
It was off the last I saw it. I was trying to think if I could have gotten a notification that caused it to come on and then it stayed on. I couldn't see any reason I would have gotten a notification, unless sms. I guess I'll backup before bed and see what happens tonight. :?

Help.
My xda suddenly became slow, the backlight switched off, and flashes on/off every 15 seconds. When soft rebooting, it stays on the initial screen for sometimes, continuing to flash as before. The phone does not start, and the battery meter will not show how charged the battery is.
I have v1.2 rom, which i installed a last week. All has been working fine, and i havent really installed any apps since. It just did this by itself this morning.
Anyone experienced this? It could be i didnt manage to charge my battery last night, though it was in the charger. Is this what it does, when the battery is very low?
I fixed it, by doing a hard reset.
Its all working again. I can only imagine it was something in the v1.2 rom.
Anyone else experienced this?
Strange Thing,
same happend to my MDA today. Battery was Full 100%
Mda does the same then yours.
Bootloader says GSM error.
Then i did a cold boot an everything is fine again!
I changed nothing for 4 weeks, and i have only the official
upgrades in my MDA!
Did you phone up your provider to ask if they had any problems on their network?
May someone please help me?
This morning I tried to turn on my device (at night I turn the radio off) but it was dead, no way to wake it up... So I put it on charge in the craddle but all that changed was a fix red light on the left.
I tried to remove the battery bat it didnt have any effect.
I tried to hard reset, but nothing.
This is the end of a horrible week, in fact I've had also had huge problems with battery duration, device hot burning and loosing all charge in two hours, so yesterday I had to hard reset and restore all data with Sprite Backup. Everything seemed to work fine until this morning.
I have to say that the last application I installed before having all these troubles was SpriteBackup! Might it be the point?
Please help me.
Wow, after removing battery once, twice... testing, charging-recharging the device woke up.
the battery is 0% and now charging, but I'm afraid the problem might come back.
I read some threads about issues in restoring data (also causing several hard resets): does it happen only with windows backup application or even with spritebackup? It should be a chance, but it's after installing spritebackup that my device (before working fine) started having charge issues and hard boiling temperatures (as it it was hard working in background all the time).
thanks to all who will help me understand solve these doubts.
Now it's charging but the divice is very hot... I never noticed it before :?:
I have upgraded my Himalaya to 1.50g and yesterday forgot to charge it and now it won’t turn on even I’ve put it in the cradle for 2 hours now. How can I fix it and prevent it from happening again? It didn’t happen to me before upgrading to WM0.5
tried reset both the normal reset and the special 2005 hardreset ?
Yes, I’ve try both. But no sign came. Only the red light gets on when I put it in cradle
Put the battery off and place it on the battery slot behind the cradle..
if still the same.. reply ASAP!
I’ve charged the battery since got your advice but it did not help also
I can not see any sign that my Himalaya is alive but the red light when connected with the power supply. With the power I’ve tried to come to bootloader mode but without success. It didn’t respond any more
I’ve just managed to wake it up one time. It comes as from hardreset. The battery indicator showed backup battery 100%, main battery 34%, but it last only about 5 minutes then come off again and the red light come back
sounds like a hardware issue with the battery
or a very very naugthy unstd sim card
Now it’s working again!
Thanks lot! I have cleaned it from inside out let the battery full charged for 1 night, managed to hardreset it, reinstalled the rom and now it’s working again
Hi all,
I've successfully recovered from the dreaded GSM error and have been using my resurrected wallaby for about 3 months now (since the gsm error). I have a WM2003SE, 4.21RSU and a PW10A1 device. Everything worked great until I've experienced this "weird" problem.
Problems:
1. Suddenly becomes "slow", delayed response to stylus taps
2. Backlight becomes "turned off"
3. If I do a soft reset (and hard reset) I end up on the bootscreen with "no radio" again (apparently gsm error)
4. All symptoms of a gsm error are evident here (can't charge and sync)
5. When I am able to revive my device and charge it; battery status remains at "charging" state or "unknown" even though i've already removed it from the charger
6. I've charged last night; when I woke up (after 7hrs) it is still in charging state
What's weird:
1. If I do a series of soft and hard resets (even entering bootloader); this gets my Wallaby back "surprisingly" with the radio on again
Questions:
1. Is it possible for the device not to detect a working RSU even though it is still there? I've done a number of RSU upgrades (all 4.21) still the problem persists
2. Can this be caused by a dying battery? I think I have a 2.5 year old battery and I don't know how to check if it is still ok (using spb plus shows good battery life though but when you run battery test in bootloader diagnostics; it indicates a charging error)
3. Can the rocker switch in the sim door be the culprit? I have a broken sim door that is just being held up by a scotch tape in place
I have read through the forum and reading through gets me more confused. I want to exhaust all efforts first before buying a new battery (which may not solve the problem). Sorry for the long post; I just want to give all the details in anticipation for a detailed solution. Thanks!
Problem solved! (I hope)
Before tinkering with the hardware and buying a new battery; I reflashed my RSU for the nth time. What I did differently this time was to remove the AC power while doing the RSU upgrade (because RSU 4.21 exe prompted me to do so, first time it happened). After this, I was able to soft and hard reset without losing my radio.
Second, I checked my OS (WM2003SE) and under device information/hardware, my data bus was set to 0. I think I corrupted my OS. Also reading from the forum re: WM2003SE bugs, I downgraded to WM2003 4.01.12 (the most stable rom so far accdg to some posts). Now my Wallaby is up and running again for 2 days without glitches. No hanging, freezing, losing backlight and signal.
I also did not re-install SPB Pocket Plus 3 thinking this causes conflict re: battery state. Saw some posts having problems with SPB applications.
Well, I still got the 2.5 year old battery (charging and working fine right now) and the broken sim door. Saved a few bucks instead of buying a new battery. Thanks to the forum, lots of useful information. Just have to piece them all together. Nonetheless all my problems with my Wallaby were successfully resolved (and hoping I don't encounter them anymore!)
Hi All,
My Prophet just died...
I made a RadioROM upgrade and after a reboot I did an IPL upgrade. I did a soft reset and now it doesn't want to turn on. I'm really confused what did I make wrong and how can I redo it.
I'm looking forward to a helpful info.
Thanks
Does your screen stay black or does it display anything? Can you enter bootloader? And why would you want to upgrade your IPL???
My screen is dark black, I can not even turn it on. I doesn't matter what sort of switch I press on the dev. So I can't see the bootloader and I think it's a serious problem...
After the IPL upgrade the reboot was succesful and on the startup screen it says IPL 2.20.0001 and worked for a while.
I've changed my local settings, which reqiures a soft reset, so I did it. After this, no aswer...
I'm very dissapointed because of the pda and your help dear all...
Is your battery dead? Try it with your charger.
No, my battery was fully charged before I ran into this major problem...
I had a similar issues which was misteriously resolved after a few plug ins and battery removals. I also let the battery completely drain and removed it from phone for a few hours. It worked when connected to wall charger but not with battery. It seemed like interior phone battery was dead. One day I connected it to the wall charger and the battery status when from zero to 98% and it stayed there. Really weird stuff. I ordered another battery and so far so good. One of the batteries did die and i discarded it, but I still use the other old battery plus I have a new spair.
Yamilrx, thanks the info...
I'll try it, but I've lost my faith in this device. It's in clinical dead state for 2 days from now, and it looks like doesn't want to wake up or alive.
This is a very misteroius issue.
I don't understand it, if I upgraded wrongly somebody tell me, why was the device started after? And if it was a wrong update, how can I turn it on and make calls, etc. and after a soft reset it DOESN'T reply for anything?!
I bought it almost 2 years ago, so I assume the battery could cause similar problem. But it was almost fully charged. The Star Wars was less incredible then this thing...
Except this, I'll accept your advice. I'm going to try it.
try the following, as your device is dead and curently noy useable.
-remove the battery for a day and just leave it there
- put in the battery and connect the charger
- hold your camera button while turning the device on
do you get into the 3 colored screen? if so, the device can now be downgraded etc.
particular reason why you have not tried a HARD reset?

Thanks, I'll try it first after go to a shop and buy a battery.
Anyway, when I mentioned I've tried all the combinations of the buttons, I meant i did a hard reset too. But my Spleeping Beauty is still doing the same...
The problem hasn't been solved by the solutions you have mentioned before, so I've called the HTC technical support, they were very friendly - they must be because I'll pay for it - and 2 days from now they will tell me how much does it costs or it is repairable or not...
Thanks for your help.

I did that with mine to see if it would reset device once the internal battery is totally discharged. Like I said earlier, mine came back to live. Make sure you install the WM 5 rom used for downgrading and don't try any of the WM 6 roms until the device is fully functional with wm5. The batteries are $8 on ebay but they take 1 week to get here from Hong Kong.
If winter comes, can sping be far away?
Hi All,
The service technician examined my Prophet and he said, I have to change a mainboard. Have you ever run into this kind of problem? If I want a repair, it'd cost me 300 Euro!!
Luckily I still have a warranty, so I hope I don't have to pay for the service.
Take care your Prophet...
