How to root X10 with new firmware?
I am searching around for the solution and was told to boot into recovery mode but do not know how to do it?
Can anyone provide a clear solution with step by step instruction, thanks.

You mean I can still overwrite the stock firmware with the pre-rooted firmware?
Will it damage the phone?
Sent from my X10i using XDA App
I spent about 4 hours updating to the rooted version of the newest firmware.
The only hurdle I came across was the X10Flash tool, which didn't work on W7 so I had to dust off an old XP laptop.
I done it with an X10i.
1st step.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=825675
I had issues with windows 7 but windows XP managed to update the phone painlessly.
2nd Step.
Download Z4Root and root phone.
3rd Step.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=859571
I had to use the manual version and copy those 3 files mentioned using root explorer.
4th step.
Reboot phone and make sure that the Xrecovery worked. Press the back button a few times as soon as the Sony Ericsson screen appears, hopefully your phone boots into the xrecovery screen. Reboot phone and load phone up normally.
5th step
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=8976947&postcount=1
download the first executable file and follow instructions.
Make a new folder called firmware inside the flashtool release folder.
Run the X10flasher.jar file to make sure everything is sweet.
6th step
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=885956
First copy all the .sin files into the firmware folder from step 5 above, and dont forget to download the loader.sin and place into the firmware folder.
run X10flasher.jar again and click Flash > firmware > OK
If it says searching for xperia then you are ready to go.
Exit x10flasher.jar
7th step.
Copy the update.zip to the root directory of your sdcard
and reboot phone into xrecovery mode.
install update.zip - you should see a progress bar.
once finished exit by removing battery and leave out for a few seconds.
8
insert the battery into phone and plug the mini usb into the x10 (but don't yet connect the usb to your pc)
9
Run x10flasher.jar and select flash
Should say Serching for Xperia...
10
Press and hold the back button on your x10 and plug the usb into the pc.
The X10flasher should now be updating your phone firmware.
when finished reboot phone normally.
This method will completely wipe all your settings, and in my case my Angrybird saves are also gone.

I read the instructions but not sure so I dare not proceed.
Care to share the instructions in details and if we are already on the new stock firmware, can we upgrade to the rooted version?

The instructions are all there in the thread:

And you need to first install XRecovery, which can be found here:

Thanks for your reply. I have read the xrecovery and the requirement is the phone need to be rooted first.
But my phone is not rooted and I have installed the new stock firmware so how to go about it?

Then you need to downgrade to the previous 2.1 firmware first. Try the method here:

Hello, I'm having problems with the one click root, it goes through the steps normally but when it says "hackin yo ****" and restarts the command script says "error: phone not found"... How can I fix this error?
Can't help you with the AIO never used, i'd do the torpedo if I were you. Has never let me down and its literally just a few instructions a monkey could follow
actually i honestly think you could train a monkey to torpedo root hahaha

Its probably your drivers try reinstalling with latest. If still doesnt work , then try "Droid 3 root". Works perfectly for photon.
Sent not from your device!
Thank you guys for the advice, I will try these methods when I get off work today!

so I tried the droid 3 root and got this error:
"Running exploit step 3 of 3 (adding su, busybox, and superuser.apk)... FAIL!
ERROR: adb could not be granted root access via local.prop method"
Try installing ADB in your Machine 1st..
Do a Reboot after doing it..
Then enable Unknown source in your device and also USB debugging..
It worked for me flawless in the 1st try itself

Yeah it does i know I made a cmd path to get my computer to activate the bridge, I also had to go though and uninstall all my drivers and reboot and then install them again. The ones at "https:// rapidshare.com /files/1478950459/Root-Unlock-Relock.zip" i just uploaded the pack i used and QBKing77 video "How to root the Motorola Photon 4G and get Free Wifi Wireless " those set me right. just be sure to delete the spaces from the url.
hey, qbking777 has some great videos on youtube. real easy to fallow and he provides all the links you need. just type in photon 4g root in the search bar

I tried his method and had the same issue... man I don't know why it's this difficult... I've never had this much trouble
I have rooted several separate photons and did not encounter issues. did u read the "read me" included in the AIO files?
Also, make sure that USB port recognizes the phone, maybe try a different USB that is directly connected to the motherboards header.
Possible the debugging or charge only mod not selected?
Best of luck.

Always make sure you have a good USB cord, it may seem good but give connection one time and lose it the next. Have had that happen with even the one that comes with a phone.

Download this for safekeeping for later if you need it & compare md5 checksum. Download a custom recovery, I recommend getting Amon RA 3.16, although TWRP 2.4.1.0 has been rock solid for me. Download SuperSU v1.10 flashable as well link
1. Run an android backup also backup contents of your internal storage.
2. Unlock bootloader
3. Confirm boot of the device and sync your Google account
4. Flash custom recovery through PH98IMG method or using fastboot "fastboot flash recovery **name-of-img**.img".
5. Flash the SuperSU update.
6. Confirm boot again. Once booted install this from Play Store.
7. In the Busybox app. checkmark replace all then press install>smart install. Then reboot.
8 (optional) Restore data from your adb backup (See step 1).
9. You are now rooted on the stock rom
I want to thank you so much for your response. I am extremely new to the terms you've mentioned such as fast boot etc. is there any way you can post a more broken down step by step or if you knew of a link on here that has steps for noobs ? Thanks !!

Have you looked at? http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1504824
To get things started. To unlocked your phone. You must go here: http://www.htcdev.com/bootloader
That link is a great step by step way of showing you what to do to get it unlocked. After that come back and we can help you more with flashing a new recovery and getting your first ROM on your phone.
Is the all in one tool kit for unlocking the bootloader and rooting the phone and if so is this all that needs to be done? :
Download the toolkit DO NOT RENAME THE FOLDER
2. Download Winrar from here. Install it after you download it
3. Extract the folder anywhere.
4. Run the program
I really appreciate all your help. I will get started on unlocking the bootloader via your second link. Btw does it have to be done via phones Web browser or via usb cable from phone to pc?

Allow it to install the prerequisite software (these contain the needed drivers), but do not allow HTC sync to install or install it fully but disable HTC sync while you're working on this.
Thanks for your response ! What did you mean disable HTC sync? Is that the option I see on my phone when I plug it in? Leave it unchecked or did you mean something else ?

I think these are the one I used when I first rooted my HTC G2. And they've been on my computer ever since, so I had no trouble with my Rez.

Actually, the All-In-One kit by Hasoon will install the drivers for you. Just run the Rezound.exe and on the left on the to-do list just click on #1 to install the drivers and click the "GO" button.
I'm trying to understand hasoons all in one toolkit. Does it root and unlock the bootloader or just root the device ? Under features in his thread does that list what the toolkit does for you or steps one has to take to unlock the bootloader ? Thanks !

Virgin Mobile Canada.
I'm trying to flash a compatible firmware so I can use Temp CWM or even root to flash CWM.
It's near impossible to root this thing on it's default firmware and no firmwares will flash other than the original. I get a SEC AUTH ERROR. I've tried everything. 32/64 windows. I've done the steps. SUT LR. Tried nearly every version of SuperOneClick. Tried psneuter, gingerbreak, zergrush. Nothing works. And yes, USB dev is enabled.
Anybody know if the Virgin Mobile Motoluxe is different than the others?
Does anybody else have this phone?

Hi Guys !!!
I'm happy to have found you ... because I have EXACTLY the same problem !
I own a phone from Virgin Mobile... a motoluxe XT615.
I have unlocked it lately ... it work very well on other provider.
I wish to use the phone on Petro-Canada network, which have unlimited data for browsing at 8$ per month.
However, actually, if you go over 2 Gb, they might shut down your account...
Unfortunately, to be able to use proxy (autoproxy) to make all my apps on the phone working with the Petro-Canada data proxy, I need to root the phone !
Here is what I've tried :
I have tried the SuperOneClick without success... I have tried manual rooting ( using adb shell on terminal ) .. I have tried with Windows 7 and I have tried on Ubuntu ... both failed. I have tried to flash the phone firmware with version IRM-152A-0-4034-A01_BFM ... thus resulted to an unusable phone ! ... the application actually crashed (May try it again!) ...
I have tried to flash it with firmware version IRM-1670-0-4073-A02_BFM_service provided by a website that stated that this firmware is already rooted (in order to install Jelly Beam) ... but ... it resulted in having a non-bootable phone at all...
So I had to flash it back with firmware IRM-174F-0-1022-A01_BFM ... and then I got a blue screen ... (after 4 min waiting) . Then I rebooted and was able to use the phone as before ( well, I had to put back all my settings )...
So far, I've tried the gingerbreak (installed on the phone as an APK) ... I have tried psneuter ... and I have tried superoneclick ... and tried some firmware. I can't get this phone rooted at all !!!
HELP!
If anyone know of a firmware that may work on this phone, I'd be happy to try it ! If the firmware provided is already rooted, then good !
I'll be monitoring this thread to see your own progress...
Thanks !

yes the omap is tricky.. this is from win7/64.. turn on show hidden devices.. it doesn't always like to show up.. you'll hear the ding, unding whatever.. only way i actually got it to show was from fastboot(1) posted around here.. right click it then install drivers.. no battery in.. plug it in and follow the directions.. i've dedicated countless hours to this phone.. it WILL unlock lol.. and if you are stuck at 4%.. dont ask me why it works, but flash u&x bootloader.. i've got a p769 on metro.. it sticks at 8%.. keep it in s/w upgrade mode.. then v10d goes on like butter.. i've been through the wonky screen hell lol.. i feel yall's pain
show hidden devices is the key.

Ok first i wanted to say that i successfuly unlocked the Bootloader by following this guide:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2500269
but i also have a question:
right not i am on a custom rom (CM)
i installed CM when i had V20B europe open (p760)
the questions are:
and now if i want to go back to V20C Israel (p768) i just need to flash it using the offline flash?
and after i flash the V20C Israel (p768) can i reinstall the recovery with the same method i did when i had the p760 rom?
