2. Run one of those .bat files and wait until it will not finish...
3. Try to flash it...
Code:

goto step 2;
}

I suggest you try my procedures. I know you say that you have already looked and don't understand what to do, but if you take your time and read it carefully for each step, you should be able to follow it.
It is not as complicated as it looks

would upgrading my 1.66 to a higher version also reset the CALL DURATION timers found in the device information?
No the call timers are not affected
tnx. i'll continue searching the forums to find out how i could reset the call duration.
I don't think it's possible.
Why do you want to do it?
There are progs out there to measure you calls -

Woo Hoo !!!!!!!!!!
Saved my life, what a piece of cake much easier way to get around the country ID problem.

Hi, I replied to a post of yours with the command prompt output
OK. The output in the DOS prompt above looks kinda all over the place. You have copied files over other ones, etc and its hard to tell the order in which you have done things.
You need to start again with an untouched set of nbf files. Then follow the instructions in my post in the correct order.
Click to collapse
As you can see, I suggested that you start again with a clean set of nbf files. I also noticed that you hadn't updated the crc values for the nbf files (as in step 11 of my post). Also you put the operator as <O2> it should be O2 and <language> should be WWE.
It really isn't as complicated as it looks . If you read it all first, then follow each step slowly and accurately without missing anything out, you should manage it ok. If, however you still get stuck (but do try first) and you have MSN messenger, I can 'talk' you through it.

Hi, Let me honestly admit that I am a newby and have read the threads over the last few weeks so much that I'm really confused now. I read one thing which then asks you to click and read another, but the answers I want are only partly found.
So I hope someone can please take pity on me and answer the following:
I have a TyTN SIM FREE phone which has a Orange sim card. In fact, Virgin & o2 cards have been used on it but Orange seems the best at the mo'.
Does that mean its unlocked?
I am trying to upgrade to WM6 (without even thinking about WM6.1), but "Error 260" comes up each and every time. I have tried 150+ and its still the same.
Please believe me that I have tried every way mentioned on these forums. I've tried on a xp (I have Vista) and its still the same.
My phone screen just goes black when trying to install, then the error comes up.
What exactly is "OPEN PORT" ? I cannot find a thread that actually EXPLAINS that. What do I have to do when it says:"Reset your computer"? Which one, the desktop or the TyTN? If the latter, I have reset so many times. If the desktop, what do I have to reset?
My TyTN tells me that its a HERM 200 IPL- 1.00 and HERM 200-2.03.
If someone can just list in a order what I have to do in order to get this upgrade I would be for ever grateful. HTC do not want to know & London HTC Support Hotline was a washout.
I do hope to hear soon, cos' its started to drive me mad now.
reset both, try unplugging usb cable and plugging into another usb port if prob persists...
1). download and install Hard SPL ver 7. Here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=296722
This makes it easier or possible to unbrick your phone if something does(will) go wrong. THIS IS A MUST!!!!!!!
2). Once you have Hard SPL on your phone, you can either use the pc to flash OR the sd card method. I personally prefer the sd method as its harder to brick your phone. To do this, download the HERMES rom of your choice. Unzip(rar) the file and generally there are 2 files. RUU_Wrapper.exe & RUU_signed.nbh. Copy the RUU_signed.nbh onto a fat 32 formatted memory card and rename it to "HERMIMG.NBH". Put it back in the hermes and go to bootloader( hold power and OK button(above the flywheel) and then reset with the stylus. hold ALL the buttons down until it goes into tricolour screen. It should automatically detect the flash file and start the upgrade process, follow the prompts... Please remember to either delete or change the name of the .nbh file else it will upgrade next time you go into bootloader.
Hope this helps... Cheers...
Hi. Thank you for your reply and at the mo' I'm trying to get the Hard SPL7 file on my pocket pc. I've never come across something which sounds easy but being very difficult! The file is on my phone, but "will not unzip 'cos .net compact framework is not on my pocket pc" when I am staring at it in the face in my downloads.
What I've decided to do is to do a hard reset and start afresh. I'll let you know how I get on....
download it to your computer, not the phone
pls see the guides here: www.mrvanx.org
Sorry not been able to try anything yet due to illness. Going to try tomorrow & I hope it works. Not tried for a while and already dreading it.
I'll let you know how I get on. Thanks for your replies.
Hi everyone. Just letting you know a friend of mine upgraded my pocket pc. He said it was "hard work" but he did it!
The phone works great and is much faster, but now I have another problem. It will not sync with WMDC.
It is possible a new thread will be following soon. I am at present, following other people's advice.
Thanks for everyone's help.

Letting us know what ROM you had flashed with would help. As the different ROMs have different solutions in solving that WMDC problem.
Is there anyway there can be something created like this for all us noobs wanting an easy solution?

Probably not quite so simple. Currently rooting the X10 involves entering three commands into a terminal on your computer, booting your phone into recovery mode, and pressing a button on the phone during step 2. The terminal commands could be called from a GUI app that would simplify that and there might be a way to have adb reboot the phone into recovery mode, but there's still a bit of interaction you need to do with the phone yourself.

It's already too easy, and if you can't figure it out, it's probably a dangerous idea to root it because you could ruin your phone easily and most likely not know how to repair it.

+1
The Process to root the X10 isn't too hard with a little bit understanding. If someone can't figure it out , he doesn't need root.
Just my 2cent no offense.
Agreed. This is already simple IF you know your way around a computer just a little. It is well explained and now with video tutorials if you still can't manage to do it, don't do it. Keep your phone up to date, you don't need anything more at this point. No offense intended here too
We are not able to create a one-touch root ATM.
And even if we would be able, why should we do? This Root is easy! The only problems here are driver issues and DeviceID problems.
So for everyone this is not simple enough its a good idea so stay on stock firmware.
A little interaction with phone is good at all, because you learn much about this progress if you just read in the files we provide (thats another reason we released this in batch format).
So just read a bit and you will see how simple the whole idea and the process is!
If you are not expert enough to understand whats happening i'm not sure if you really need root then
Best Regards
Bin4ry
Some people are lazy to figure out the steps.
Dont overfeed them too much.
I tried all the process of rooting on X10 up to the first root batch, the one with long method up to this date of root and its very easy. There are Tutorials and Video.
No, we are not lazy but affraid to break the phone. Ive had OmniaHD before X10 and there was custom ROMs from the man called HyperX that was only double click and connect the phone. I am not saying that those guys didnt make this as simple as they can but there are 100 of problems and tutorials, there are some decrypted ROMS and Official ROMs, there are methods that need Device-ID number and other that does not need that...so, I am reading all of this since root was official and I cannot find one way that is said to be the best and with no problems.
Also: how do I get my ROM that is on the phone on my computer in case I need it back for warranty reasons ? What method is the best to put newer ROM., there is SEUS and other one. Can we put clean official 020 ROM right on the phone and not by UK 016 and then update ?
I mean, there are million questions that we are trying to answer by reading this forum. I admire you guys because this is easy for you but please, be patient with us, programing idiots , there are people that only want better phone and have no clue in programing, like me for instance...cos I only want to remove Moxier and Quadrapop, only for that I want root, nothing else.
Cheers
then simply follow my provided steps and you will have R2 Rom with root.
Afterwards you can deleted moxier and quadrapop.
Just understand: I cannot be made easyer !!!!!!!
The exoploit works like this:
You flash a "old" R1 firmware -> Do the fota -> Copy over some stuff like su and superuser.apk
For now its the easyest way to do.
If we manage to flash customs it wouldnt be much easyer to do oO
Regards
Bin4ry
Yes its lazy. Because some people are lazy understanding ROOT and How it is done.
If you read it carefully and understand it briefly you will not get it bricked and know your mistakes and how solve it.
Plus you can't get satisfaction on doing it easily. Hard work is a good feeling
Tnx a lot for instructions but they are pretty short
New instructions for FULL R2BA023 ROOT
Step 1
Flash Rom with preferred method!
+++++What method ? I cannot find DeviceID in my registry, I have tried to find it with my phone connected on my PC and when it is not connected and there is no that string when I type that in search. Then, can I flash it with Omnius without this DeviceID number ?
Step 2
First startup the phone and activate USB-Debugging:
Menu -> Settings -> Applications -> Development -> USB Debugging!
run step 2 and select "update from sdcard" on phone
+++++when to connect the phone ? Turn the phone ON and go to USB debugging -> run step2.cmd -> connect the phone ? -> hit update from SDCard on the phone
Step 3
run step 3 and will root your phone
+++++phone is connected the whole time from step2.cmd ?
ATTENTION: If you have X10i you are DONE!
+++++You see, we need instructions like a blind man ) If I have done it I would write them really step by step so that little kid could do it.
Tnx a lot for your hard work !
Geez gaining root on the x10 was soooooo much easier than gaining root on the HTC Dream (g1)
Pretty much as everyone else has said if you find these simple steps to gain root difficult then maybe you shouldn't be doing it because really it's quite simple.
I've done everything the right way and i don't seem to be suffering from any of the problems everyone else is getting.
The best way to root is on a 32bit os (will save the hassles with 64bit java)
and if you can't find your device id install Seus and boot phone into flash mode then try and find device id again.
I wonder if it's possible to have all these excess How to root and Custom rom threads removed ?
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=711907
Read the instructions if you get stuck re-read the instructions again then if you're still stuck search the forums/thread as i'm sure someone else has asked the same question and has had a answer.
seriously people if you struggle with three steps (or five if on x10a) then you really shouldn't be doing this, the steps are pretty self explanatory. If you still want root after all the warnings gotten off here then here's a video:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4AZ_10cvd9k
Just do as he does if still you cant do it then put the phone away and find yourself and old SE T18, it may be more suited.

Get SEUS (Sony Ericsson Update Service) from sony ericsson website, through their update things. Install it, and update your phone through that. That will give you device drivers, and then your deviceID should be in registry.
'What method?' The files are the first links in the guide.

Yes.
The thing is, these guys are experts. When you have an expert writing a guide, a lot of things are assumed that you'd know. For example, there's no need to explain what is meant by 'run step2.cmd' But for someone who doesn't know anything, you'd have to tell them to 'double click the file' Same thing as explaining to someone they have to extract the downloaded files.
I understand what you mean though, there's some gaps in the guide that could be helpful if they were filled up, but hopefully they will get polished after they're done figuring out all the updates happening. For example, new 020 firmware just got released for X10a, so now they have to add that on and maybe change some steps for X10a users. And optimally they'd wanna be able to get custom ROMs working, so they'll need to redo the guide again.
Tnx a lot for your help, I have managed to get it working. Yes, instructions should be step-by-step but not "double clikc this" detailed
Cheers
I'm thinking of what problems would be there if we had released root in the hard way we had before ?!
Everyone wants us to release after we annouced and we always said its too hard
And now this easy three steps are too complicated for some of you.
Seriously :
Just look in the batch files to understand what is going on, you really need no diploma to understand what basic commands are running inside our files. And if you will take a look most of your questions are answered by itsself.

I have a HTC HD2 with Tmobile, it is a Leo. I would like the WP7 on my phone but not sure how to get it going. I have downloaded the DFT_LEO70_release.rar, unzipped went through the motions of putting the phone in bootloader mode and running the MAGLDR 1.12 utility. After a period the program stops with an error reading. Anyone got the step by step order to complete the switch? I noticed the phone doesn't connect to activesync but still not sure my error.
Make sure you have HSPL3 on it. Run that first just in case, choose 2.08HSPL. Then after that run MAGLDR again. then once MAGLDR is in there, choose usb flasher then run the LEO70 utility
I believe you're in the wrong thread. You should be looking in Windows Phone 7 section of HD2.
You are awesome!! I got it running!! Thanks for your help! Now, how do I fix the other little things such as Marketplace and such? Any ideas?
The best hint was given already in post #3... check the HD2-WP7-thread here...
I'm still a newby, so excuse, if I am wrong to ask right here, but as an owner of an HTC HD2 512 (SPL 2.08 with magldr), formerly installed Miui roms, I now want to install WP7. The respective rom and installation routine is mentioned and offered in many places, but when I want to download the LEO70_RELEASE.rar the page is always dead. Please help me or further my issue to the right place, or advise me how to do it myself, that would be very nice. Thanks in advance,
Availability LEO70_RELEASE.rar
May I pose you a question, whether or not I am in the right thread or you are right to be contacted, but I have the same intention as mentioned before, getting WP7 on my Leo. The trouble starts right away by not being able to find the respective downloadable rar at all. All searches end in dead pages or links. What might that mean? And where might I get it?
Once again please excuse, when I'm wrong here, but I'm not experienced in using forum structures …
Thank you so much for answering or helping me, anyone who reads or is forwarded this, if it's others, too …

ok i have been all over the place trying to figure this process out. i found everything that i believe that i need and have saved all info. well i did not get far.
here is what i have done so far. i have dl 1.9.0 from dj steve i have created my install .txt file. i tried the fast boot and thats as far as i get. i try the find driver and there is not even a google, inc folder to choose. if possible i would like to get someone on some sort of chat be it yahoo or whatever that could take the time to walk me through this from start to finish. i know that this is a rather large task but if i could get it i would be greatful.
here is what i am working with.
at&t dell streak 5
android version 2.2
build number 14844
i have taken everything back to off of sd card like the rcoverey and install and 1.9.0 files.
that is all that i know so far and sorry if i am not on the right track but with all of the write ups online it is almost impossible to figure out which is best and easiest ect... well thanks to everyone for the help whether i get any or not.
Start here
Quickest way to ROOT access is to
Hold your streak above your head with both hands
Close your eyes
Shout out loudly " OPEN SESAME " (must be yelled out loudly or will not work)
Then with all the energy summoned
SMASH YOUR PHONE INTO THE GROUND
CONGRATS NOW YOU SHOULD BE ROOTED WITH SUPER USER
thanks marvin for the link i already have been all over that and no luck. i cant even get into fastboot. when i try to bring up the add driver and go to select from list google inc is not there. i have gone over every step a hundred times and dont know what it is. if anyone knows where i can dl the driver file that would be awesome. but i have read other places with guys having the same issue and they dont get any help either so, i will just hold off.
also i am trying to do this on windows 7 with x86 i dont know if this could be the issue. if so i have a vista laptop also if that would be more useful. just looking for info,
and yes i have vista in test mode

There is no reason to actually run the QDLTool on your phone because the ROM you have is later than the one it will install. But the download will include the drivers, unzip it and look in the driver folder for what you need.
