PPC 2003 SE - MDA II, XDA II, 2060 ROM Development

OK, we all know its not going to formally happen (2003 SE Update that is...) and we all know the hardware is almost identical, therefore...
Development versions of the SE ROM's must exist somewhere, they may not be production ready but may work very well, at some point these hopefully will become available on the WEB via unofficial sources.
or
Has anyone managed to extract one of the new XDA IIs ROM's and tried to update a standard XDA II. OK there will be additional drivers and settings for such hardware as wireless adaptors, these will just not initialize all other hardware should work.

not just additional drivers people messed around with it and even the blue angle had a different cpu and bluetooth hardware and .......
i dont think people have been able to change in the core rom parts even on the old xda1's
windows CE is very unlike pc windows when it comes to being portable and having any other drivers then the ones it was made for :/
there were threads about tests in the old hacking it forum not sure if they got lost in the crash
think it would be a much better bet to get hold of some of those beta roms that people claimed to have been using on their xda2's

yup... need 'em beta ROMS, then re-build it so something more stable.... ..... untill (if ever) the SE arrives....

I ran across a post that claimed that this guy had his Xda II running WM2003SE which he got from official sources, but promised not to release it to anyone.
So if this is true, there must be an available upgrade for the Xda II, beta or otherwise.

maybe future rom ver. 1.80 will integrated with SE (I hope) ?

waiting the WM2003SE version....

I thought that O2 announced this ROM as the final rom?? So y r we getting r hopes up.!

...maybe they just meant final as "non beta" version...

Which I think they exactly meant.
It *is* "final" as "non-beta", because there clearly can be further updates from MS to Windows Mobile 2003.
I would expect the version that will have no others to follow to be called "the last", or "the last supported" for a device.

Nooop it aint happenin
Unfortunately after my long chat with IMATE I finally got the reply there will be no in any way WM2003se for us but SP3 will come with media player 10 and that is all

Quote:It *is* "final" as "non-beta", because there clearly can be further updates from MS to Windows Mobile 2003.
I read "Final" as this is the last update because we are going to conentrate on the latest phones development.

we can do it, collect the user require upgade the wm2003SE e-mail for O2!!

I just want Media Player 10... They need to come out with SP3 now!

Check this out!

Microsoft is selling wm5 on their site.

yes they are but wait its only for ipaq's & dell
and even window media player-10 t that is also for ipaq's & dell.
how mean of them inspite all the htc devices run on windows.
someone gotta teach them a lesson.
heres the link see for yourself's

http://www.microsoft.com/windows/windowsmedia/player/windowsmobile/default.aspx
for wm-10 player
can someone tell me if this will work on a himalaya?
am ready to buy this os
regards.
Hi
First of all, read wiki, and then ask questions.
Microsoft doesn't 'sell' WM5.0 roms.
Several devices' vendors support buying/upgrading, but unfortunately not HTC.
However, you can get WM5 for Himalaya, because wonderful people at xda-developers made this possible.
Read wiki, to get it:
http://wiki.xda-developers.com/index.php?pagename=Himalaya
Note, that this upgrade is not official and is still problematic....
People here are working hard to make it better.
@robal
dont be in a hurry, go to the link i have posted and see for yourself they are selling it for $39.99.
and yes i am aware of the wm5 rom's on buzzdev, and they have ton's of bug's.
since they are selling the rom in the hp site.
it should be trouble free.
Same as update to 2003se. Won't work (without patches) on any other then Ipaq's and Dell's. For other devices you are refered to the manifacturer.
Looked at this before, strategy of microsoft still the same.
Don't buy unless they say that they have an upgrade for your "specific" device.
A Real M$
ms dont make roms for devices
for the ipaq's hp makes roms for their devices and sell them
for htc devices htc makes roms for their devices and offer them for free
people must understand that when you buy a cd with windows for your pc it include all the drivers so it will run on every pc supported
when you get a rom for your device where the size of the rom is limited in space you only get the drivers and stuff for that very device and not anything else
roms are custom made and hardcoded to work on that special hardware config
if ms sell mw2005 but only to pda manufactors along with the tools required to build the rom from scratch along with the drivers for the cam or wifi cpu and the likes that pda uses
if you buy a hp rom then it will work just fine
that is if you install it on the supported hp pda
it will not work on anything else

Leaked Sprint ROM + WM 6.1: Can it be done?

Guys, we currently have the leaked Sprint ROM, and now there's word out of China that WM 6.1 Pro has been leaked.
Can dcd or someone else take the 2 and combine them into 1 single ROM? Call it the "Leaky ROM(in a good way)".

Well, extract what .cabs you can(Threaded SMS, potential upgraded PIE, new Live Search, etc) and use those "pieces" to build a ROM with more soild footing then.
this is the only post i will make on this until a release
6.1 can be ported to titan. It has the same structure as 6.0. I've run a really old crappy build myself. The version you are all seeing floating around right now is a 30 day timebomb. Eventually, a non-beta WWE build will be released. After that, eventually it will make it to our device. But... you're going to be waiting longer than you think.
My GUESS is this summer. And from what I've seen so far, I'm not in the big hurry everyone else is.
If you see a WWE ROM with WM6.1, I would think its reasonable to bring it up here. It can be ported and I'll help. But I kind of want to put a stop to the 6.1 talk until then. I will not even attempt to convert the chinese release to WWE. Even if I did, it would mean replacing the language files with old old old WWE versions, and I have not even seen a WWE build containing some of the SYS packages of the chinese build. And some of those packages I hear are required for operation.
Just my 2 cents I guess.
Edit: also, its not made up of cabs. pulling out certain components could be realistic, but I have never been a fan of 'hybrid' builds and wont waste my time with a partial-6.1.
That 2nd link shows 5.2.1238 as the primary version number, that's an old AKU 0.2.3 that's been modified. Either it's a hybrid of old and new (which is silly) or it's just a hex-edited fake (more likely).
The leaked Sprint ROM currently has the latest real release, 5.2.1622 Build 18128.0.4.4.
Even the popular 5.2.19xx versions are betas or fakes, they don't follow the version/build/AKU numbering scheme of real releases.

I think the build youre referring to is actually a hybrid.
The current WM6.1 builds show something like "5.2.19150 Build 19150.1.0.0" - the CE OS is bunk and temporary
The newest WM6 is 5.2.1623 Build 18129.0.4.5
I agree on aku 0.7 ive always been skeptical.

I didn't know that, guess I'm a little behind! Where can I find it? Is it a ROM used on a shipping device?
Yeah, AKU 0.7 is definitely fake or beta. As far back as CE 3.x, Microsoft has never had multiple versions of the same AKU. Every AKU has its very own specific build AND version number. That can be confirmed on every existing production CE device so I've never understood why everyone has been so excited about AKU 0.7 for the past 6 months or so.

it is possible in some places to rip apart a rom and make cabs of certain items, but they will be broken in ways, just like the palm threaded app, its broken on any phone that it didnt get shipped with.

Microsoft Officially Releases Windows 6.1

I found this site http://www.pocket-lint.co.uk/news/news.phtml/13612/14636/windows-mobile-61-coming-april.phtml
It states that Windows Mobile 6 will officially be released. I know we have had WM6.1 for a while, but maybe when it comes out we can make a kitchen for it ( if it is a New and Much improved) This possibly can fix the bugs that we encountered. And since it is officially released, any bugs found can be reported to microsoft for (service and repair) type of incidents.
Maybe?
yeah engadget reaffirmed this in a post yesterday. but afaik, the version of WM 6.1 that we have now in DCDs rom and others is the official version. I dont think that the retail 6.1 will be any different
It is likely that they have made a diffrent build by now. I have seen screen shots of phones such as the xperia and others with newer builds.
If this is true then maybe new features are introduced (such as the deepfish browser), or even some fixes for bugs that we have already.
i thought that deepfish had been scrapped. ms didnt want to spend the money in server resources. xperia is on 6.1 no doubt, but i didnt know about the version number. i dont know. for sure there might be a few tweaks.
just outta curiosity, i know the stock roms use windows update. would cooking that into a rom not work for reg updates? i mean would MS see it as a non-legit version of windows?

Even if we don't get deepfish which I hope we do, I'm sure that they might have improved on some PIE issues.
But about MS updates that is another good reason to have an officially released copy. (our versions don't have it -- well mine doesn't)That way we wont have to fear of getting any updates through MS or even to call them or email them for support. It will all be legit.
no2chem has the latest build in his rom.
dcd's build in 3.0.1 is rtm. there is another build out there i know of, whether it is the same build as the "official release" i'm not sure, have to look it up. either way, i'm sure dcd knows and is working on another kitchen with the latest build.
i hope so, i havnt flashed my phone in 4 days, im getting trigger happy
I you look at this thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=379769&page=2 DCD said he is running 19202.1.0.0 build. His latest Kitchen uses Build 19199.1.0.0. He didn't mention any changes in builds though. Perhaps he will release a new ROM and kitchen off the build he's using.

Do you think the 6.1 update from M$ will be available through the Windows Update feature? I have never gotten any updates through that as of yet.
Or are we going to have to wait for Veriz on to approve it for another 6 months....

From what I understand of the WU update application, it can't push an entire firmware. Just individual files in the event of a major problem, like a security issue. Even though the feature is there, they have never pushed any updates to it.

Knowing HTC and their history with upgrades I wouldn't bet on it. Personally I suspect that the most recent upgrade we got will be the last official one. If I had to guess, I'd say HTC will announce some kind of new phone for Sprint this year.

Microsoft Officially will release WM6.1 on the SPRINT MOGUL
according to Engadgetmobile http://www.engadgetmobile.com/2008/04/01/microsoft-announces-windows-mobile-6-1-device-upgrades/
So this might mean we can supply the TITAN community with the official GPS / Rev. A ROM & an official WM6.1 ROM ( with possible bug fixes)
Also MANILLA gets official on WM6.1
Check out : http://www.boygeniusreport.com/2008/03/28/htcs-manilla-gets-screenshotted/
We might also be able to integrate this.

Will there be an original HTC WM6.5. ROM ?

Dear Forum,
Does anybody know if HTC will release an original supported ROM with WM 6.5. for the touch PRo ?
THanks!
I read on an HTC support forum that the Pure will be the first phone to be officially released with a factory 6.5 ROM. There will not be a 6.5 release for any phones older then the Pure.

Dontcha think thats kinda bogus? I buy a Dell laptop and Microsoft and Dell keep me informed on all updates for my system, regardless of the age of my equipment. Yet the Windows Mobile and HTC community get a "one time help" kinda attitude? I believe HTC and the Windows Mobile Division of Microsoft needs to donate alot to XDA-DEVELOPERS, Blownfuze and the other amazing sites for taking up where they left off...which is actually as soon as u leave the friggin store!
NOTE TO HTC AND MICROSOFT (Windows Mobile division): If u have a product u stand by and u want more ppl to use it; try doing regular updates and software upgrades of the products u say is "ahead of its time" when its at the store. Yet as soon as we walk out the door ur tellin others its "last years 'has-beens'". Word-of-mouth travels faster than u know. Which way do u think Im gonna be swayed?
Im proud to call xda-developers my home for the best programs, software and advice for my HTC devices.
Special thanx goes out to: Noellenchris, DA_G, jcmkjeer, Lexxirae, WhiskeyBro and many many others who have made this site, the programs, advice, add-ons and ROMs the very best they can be. And for welcoming me and treating me with respect, regardless of how dumb my questions or concerns were! LOL
See? Its all about helping thy brother, or sister... and of course shovin our new stuff in the faces of those with lower grade devices, lmao. Sorry, this just seemed to be the right place to put this opinion.

All the hardware meets the minimum, (and recommended), requirements, except for one thing. No "start" key. Because of the lack of this one feature, WM 6.5 will not officially be released for the TP1.

The second most obvious change is the Start Menu, which Microsoft is so proud of that they've required all 6.5 phone to include a dedicated button for it on all "Windows Phones" a la the Windows Key on a PC.

Which, as I'm sure we can both agree, is complete bull****. Microsoft should not be able to impose such restrictions on what amounts to an interim release.

I'll second that motion. The barrier to an official release being dependent on the graphics of a button on the front of the phone, is assanine to say the least. Remap the "home" button to be "start", and problem solved except for the graphics of the windows flag.

HD2-will it get update to WM7?

Hi everybody,
I was looking around for some informations about getting wm7 for HTC HD2, but I found many results, some of them said that it will, some said not. So, do You know if there will be official update to WM7? If not - will be there any non-official ROMs? I've heard that someone already did it, but I don't know anything more about it.
Thanks
as far as i read there no wp7 for hd2 but its will ported in time by the community here
take a look in the windows phone 7 development forum. Da_G and a few others are actively working ok windows phone 7 with a couple of leak builds.
The other build you saw was never confirmed by the community.

Someone apparently faked a video at one time showing wp7 ported to an HD2. I think they used the remote desktop app to remote to a PC running some kind of wp7 emulator.
I don't have any links to any of this information. This is just stuff I read somewhere, at sometime but I would imagine you could find the sources if you did a search using the correct search criteria. You know, stuff like "WP7 HD2 faked" and stuff like that.
I 99% sure people will attempt to port window mobile 7 to the HD2.
How successful they'll be will be is uncertain.
That's a pity that HD2 won't get official update. I like this device, and I'm happy owner of it, but personally I think that WM is restriction for this mobile. Somewere it's ugly, and slows down terribly...
