It just happened while I am upgrading Rom file, While install was being processed Activesync has disconnected.
After that, It shows " Serial v.1.01" sign
I have tried soft reset and hard reset however it doesn't work.
Even removing battery, It doesn't work
What is solution for this problem?
Please let me know anyone has a solution
Just run the upgrade again from scratch. It doesn't use activesync.

I've done all search BUT still can not solve out my problem.
I tried to upgrade my current ROM (1.03) to 1.60 BUT when upgrade in process; suddenly it said cannot find the device(XDAII).
At that time I took out the machine from cradle and did soft reset. And put it back to cradle to continue upgrade. And the error message still said it still can not find the device.
When I tried to enter into Bootloader mode and USE ROM on SD to restore my original ROM, BUT I tried the method mentioned in some post;
still cannot go to BOOTLOADER mode. On the screen it always said " Serial on the top.
Could anyone help me please?
I have the same problem..
i even tried with Qtek Rom, MDA rom... still not working.
When I turn on the xda II, it only displaying serial on top and v.1 06 at bottom.
tried to run the xdaII upgrade rom with the error :
ERROR 100 : MODEL ID ERROR 1-N-PH-PH-PH
If I try with QTEK and MDA Rom it just does nothing, or it hangs for a long time..
I have tried many times and still not working..
please anyone..

if you have something written on the screen; such as SERIAL V1.06 then in my opinion you're still okay. do a couple of hard resets, put the unit back on the cradle and double click the upgrade file again. a lot of chaps ran into this same problem but eventually got it going again.

I have the same problem b4, its frustating to see my XDA become an "expensive brick". After trying everything finally worked. What i did, after u turn on your computer plug in the cradle and also put the XDA into the cradle. Usually the computer didn't recognize it as Pocket PC, so u need to insert the companion CD to ur CDROM. After the computer install the driver, go to folder where ur upgrade file at. Click on HimaUpgradeUt.exe and follow the instruction until finish. DON'T FORGET not to disconnect the power or even take out the XDA headset from the cradle until finish. Good luck guys

I got a connection break during upating to 2nd edition rom. Now I cannot restore or continue the update. I tried to hard reset, remove battery, and soft reset, it does not work. (It only shows "USB" when connecting my XDAII to computer again.)

disconnect any USB hubs, you might have, make a straight/direct USB connection between your XDA2 and PC.
Then get this upgrade package:

Unpack and run "HimaUpgradeUt.exe"

my friend.. just calm down.. it was happened to me that too... and besides i can disconnect my XDA II in cradle in the middle of the upgrade cuz i can still fix it... its hard to explain how to fiz that but there is a sollution.. i removed my XDA II more than 5 times in the middle of the process.. still his with me... and working fine..

Really strange, as I have upgraded a few times, e.g. just upgrading radio, and sometimes, just upgrading extended rom...... Onces it finished copying files to XDA2, it says errors, when hard reset, it works!!!
Anyway, it works now...
At beginning, this is very slow when I click some functions, start menu... later when I installed Hackmaster V3.0,,, it runs pretty fast....
However, using Hackmaster V3.0, it hangs sometime, but the fast response makes me keep this....

don't panic...
you are in bootloader mode.
you've probably executed 'enterbl.exe', which is a part of every upgrade.
just connect your device with your pc and run normal upgrade/flash procedure.

but i can't use active sync anymyore, i unzipped the thing i downloaded and now it got 7 options to choose from but when i click it it opens a install program and in big red letters ROM IMAGE FILE NOT FOUND

the pocket pc software update cannot locate the ROM image file to update to your pocket pc. Download the correct rom update for your pocket pc and try again and i am a real noob in these thing
did you try a hard reset?
press the on/off button and the softreset button at the same time.

i completly understand german but im not so good in speaking it.
normaly we can only speak english here but we can make an exeption so you can speak german to me and i will speak english back. OK? or try the translator (www.freetranslation.com)
did you perform the hardreset?
activesync won't work aslong as serial is replaced by the word usb when in the cradle it's ok carry on with the upgrade
try another pc to upgrade!
thats happen to me too.. but...
i also try to install the downloaded items from this website (which is the new windows version 2003 SE), and soon after i start installing it, my desktop computer says "error has occure during the installation process".
:shock: i was very shocked when i see my device completely blank with a word says "USB (on the top)" and "Ver. 1.03 (on the bottom)".. i really panic beacuse my active sync doesn't worked.. but then i start to hard reset my xda then reconnect my device and try to install it several times (bercause sometimes the error message still appear..) after waiting for 5 step of installation which takes abaout 2 hours
tadaaaaaaa now i have an XDA IIs application on my phone...
So in conclusion:
1. do't be panic :wink:
2. try to hard reset ur device
3. reconnect ur device (even if the activesync won't recognized ur device)
4. Install the downloaded files..
5. wait until ur computer says "deleting extended rom" (or something like that)
6. be patient..
7. Pray to GOD..
8. and here you go you got new look for ur beloved xda.

While updating my Himalaya device to the XDA2jojo v3.2z5 (not the first time I have installed this version) it has gone completely blackscreen.
I have tried to soft, hard reboot the device. I have also tried to initiate a reinstall with connection error failure. I have tested the batttery and it is okay. No matter what I do I cannot get the device to come back to life.
If I plug the device into the cradle or attach power I get a red light where there is normally the green flashing or orange power light.
Anyone any ideas what this could be.
I have had a similar issue where I would get a blackscreen this problem has occured a few times but I have always managed to get the device back with hard reset.

I have been trying to find solution on forum, but it seems it will not be so easy ... My MDA1 shows only Wilkommen bei TMobile and soft version G32S54, R3.23.00, 3.16.45 and that is all It does not response on power or anything - it simply shows me Wilkommen or not (if power is unplugged and battery empty). I think your ROM is corrupt. Try reflashing.

a problem I had
When I first tried to image my device, the usb flash mode using XDA tools didn't work. I think this was because I was using windows vista. Anyway this forced me to use the direct sd flash method, and thus I didn't get the instructions to cold reset my device after the flash, which does seem to make a difference. Have you tried that?

OK - first time did not work, because Hard reset did not worked My mistake ... after reset it seems fine - I made some cooking and I have nice ROM right now but... After another reset and after second upload Boot appears and Wallaby starts making tests. After last test made Diagnostics screen appears and to be honest I do not know what to do Hard reset just shuts down MDA and I cannot switch it on - I can start from the same begining - tests etc. I know I am really close to solve that ... and we will see.

Hi, i'm using a rw6828 and tried flashing with a rom from wantat but i forgotten to delete the EBOOT.nb0 before i clicked "upgrade". Then the program stopped at 6% for a long time and didnt move. I disconnect the cables and tried to turn the device on.
THe device can go into the wm6 and the start button can be use but the screen is "moved" to the right side and other function is not working.
After that, i did a hard reset and the the os seem to work like normal. However, when i tried to go into bootloader mode to reflash the rom again, the bootloader screen doesn't seem to appear.
Is there anyone here that can help me? Thank you.

Thank you abusalza for the direction. I'm sorry i didnt use the search function to look up about dead bootloader. I'm actually not sure if it is a dead bootloader thats why i didnt look up in the forums for a specific problem.
Thank you so much for the link and i've discovered something new. I tried using the camera button + soft reset method and what it seems that i might have entered bootloader. But i have no idea what to do next.
