Hi All,
I have an XDA II with the lastest O2ASIA ROM.... Kind of anyway.
I stumbled upon an update for the XDA II and thought I would install it. Unfortunately I did not see the link that said "Asia Pacific Users click here"
and ended up attempting to upgrade to the UK ROM. It appeared to run perfectly, but now I have an O2ASIA XDA II that only says "USB v1.06".
So I'm obviously stuck at the bootloader screen. Have attempted to put the latest O2Asia version back on:
ROM version: 1.60.00 WWE
Radio version: 1.08.00
ExtROM version: 1.60.44
MMS Client: 1.6.0.8
but no joy, I get:
"Model ID Error 1-N-PH-PH-PH"
I have read through many posts with nothing really being of any help at this point.
How do I get my XDA working again? TIA to anyone who has slightly more of a clue than me
JP
I think your first update modified either your device model ID, country ID or language ID ... in this case you can unpack your Asian ROM upgrade file ... use xda2nbftool.exe to modify its files to have the O2 UK signatures.
Ok thanks, I have tried a few variations, but it does not want to co-operate.
Is there any way from the bootloader and the serial console that I can find out what its settings are sp I can match them up with xda2nbftool.exe?
Or is there a way via the bootloader and the serial console that I can change them?
well, you can try this ... use ER2003Edit tool to open the UK upgrade file ... you should find the required IDs there
Yep, did that. Used same tool to set the AsiaPac files but no joy, same Error 100: Model ID Error.
There does not seem to be any info around regarding creating an SD image on a PC that could be used to restore everything - that would be handy.
I am experiencing the same, allthough using the correct German ROMs:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/viewtopic.php?t=10668
Ok, problem sorted.
Booted a mate's XDAII to the bootloader, created the three ROM images on an SD card, put it in mine and it all downloaded successfully.
Does anyone know how I can take an image of the SD card?
JP
i've experienced the same problem when I downgrade mine from 1.66 to 1.60 O2 Asia
First reflash the unit with the 1.66 ROM, Use the ER2003Edit, make the DeviceID, Langguage Blank. the Country = 'O2'
the flash it.
then flash it again use the Original Working ROM from O2 UK or ASIA.
But for right now it is not possible to downgrade from 1.66 to 1.60 since from the information I got from the service center there's different Main Board for the XDA.
hi _JP_,
you can do that by a program called hex workshop. it allows you to save hex dumps of any storage card into a file and back again. i have done this today successfully several times. now i have the same problem. i have flashed my xda2 with a german 1.72 dump from an eplus qtek2020 but now the way back is blocked without a correct dump of a german o2 xda2, which i dont have available :-(

O2ASIA dead ROM
Hi, I am having the same USB 1.06 screen dead OS problem after trying to convert 1.66CHT ROM to 1.60WWE ROM.
Please help, I am not sure
1) what header information to change the 1.60WWE ROM so that i could flash the ENG version in the O2ASIA
2) used ER2003EDIT with error after trying to change the header information
3) dont' have the 1.66CHT ROM? couldn't get back
PLEASE HELP to get my O2 back !!! many thanks
Hi Cmong,
Here are the steps to sort out your XDA.
1. Find someone else with the same XDA (preferrably a friend - doing this will delete all their settings and data)
2. Get an SD card (I used a 128MB but 64 should do).
2. Download this: http://forum.xda-developers.com/download.php?id=19
3. Back up the data on the other person's XDAII
4. Disable USB connections in ActiveSync
5. Boot your friend's XDA to the bootloader (Power-Direction-Reset)
6. Put the XDAII in the USB Cradle
7. Use the program from (2) to backup all the ROMs to SD. I used the instructions found here: http://en.pdamobiz.com/en/forum/forum_posts.asp?TID=62
8. Put the SD card into your broken XDAII and reset it
9. Push the power button when it tells you to and it will dump the ROMs to your XDA
10. Have a celebratory beer because your XDA is now working.

Hi, i have exactly same problem here (bootloader version 1.06), reading all the forums but no luck thus far. Problem is I don't have a mate with an xda 2. Anybody know where i can find the image needed and how to save it to SD card? I am no techie so step by step instructions would be welcome If nothing else works, if any kind soul would be so kind to email the image to me, (in chunks if its too big to email) I would be forever grateful
TIA for your help, hoping to get my xda 2 back form the dead :?
some more details... my xda 2 is brand new uk version locked to O2. Anyone with a dump image that could solve my problem? TIA
Gday mate,
You are in the UK so I don't think my image is going to work, but since you are desparate I will post it here.
I can't help you out too much, I created the image with the hex editor mentioned in the above posts, I have not had time to play with it and can only tell you that it is an image of the 128mb flash card that i fixed my xda with.
While I have dumped it from the card, I have not actually experimented with how to write the image back to the card so I think if you are not a techie you will struggle a bit to get it working.
Note that this is the Asia Pacific image and will probably not work in your xda since you are in the UK.
If you do manage to write the image to the SD card, just put it in the slot and reboot the xda and it will tell you to press the power button to download.
Can I suggest that this forum might be a good place to post other SD ROM recovery images for other regions apart from the one I have???
thanks
i will try and download it... waiting for a fellow from the forum who has the right image (hopefully) to get back to me... and i am surprised as u r these images are not readily available on the net.. I think they would solve many problems in case something goes wrong when u update. As a matter of fact these image files should be available form the product support (just like windows boot disks are available to repair a desktop computer) thanks for ur help, if anybody knows how to dump the image correctly, please post the procedure here (will need it for uk image too)... I am not asking too much am i?
cheers
peter_altherr earlier in this thread I think knows how to do it.
When I reboot, it doesn't ask me anything
Thank you for your help.
I have copy the image to the my SD card and try to reboot like what you mentioned, but it doesn't ask me anything. All it did was just showing the serial v1.06. I tried the power + direction pad + rest and it is no use. Am I doing any thing wrong?
Hi All,
I'm new to the PDA-world and the Hermes. I'm trying to Hard SPL my Hermes, but it fails everytime.
When I run 2.10 - Hard-SPL-V7, it kills activesync and my connection is lost and I get always the message "error 260, Update error".
I have the latest framework edition and tried it on 3 pc's (1 Vista, 2 XP)...
What am I doing wrong?
Hope somebody can help me....
Kind Regards,
Micha
1). dont connect to active sync. open active sync and untick "allow usb connections".
2). put hermes into bootloader and connect to usb.
3). run ruu_wrapper.exe
should update to hard spl....
dont forget to tick "allow usb connections" again or you wnot be able to sync..
error 260 is an open port error.
if you wish to flash new os would advise to use sd card method. its safer than using the computer. just make sure you have greater than 50% battery power. happy flashing
Thnx, will give it a try.
First I have to flash HardSPL before I can flash a new OS, don't I?
yep, sorry, should have said run the ruu_wrapper for hard spl. My bad...
im having the same problem. I also tried the way ultramag recommended but i also received the same ending. After time i try i get the Error 260 Update error. Im running SPL 2.04 and the HTC WM6 rom from the HTC website. Does any one know what the problem is?

NOOOOO, that won't work, you need the SSPL to deploy to the phone, if you're running stock HTC bootloader this won't work at all, otherwise we'd have no need for Hard-SPL
hey olipro, then how would i fix this. Im running the stock rom from the HTC website with no hacks. Im trying to load PDA Corners V9 rom. Any ideas on how to fix? thanks!
Take a peek at the guide i wrote about updating the hardspl. Theres some explanation about why we need to use SSPL and the procedures.
http://www.mrvanx.org/hermes_guide/hardspl
thats the guide i used. it still gives me the error. I even unchecked "allow connections" cause i read somewhere that that would help.
i did this two days ago on my phone, im running windows vista on my home laptop and got any number of errors and problems trying to do it via sync with the phone (even after reading the vista troubleshooter, with the drivers etc)
What i ended up using was the memory card upgrade, dump the file onto the memory card and go into bootloader with the card installed.
worked fine doing that way, maybe less risky as there is no chance of the usb cable coming out.
just make sure you have a good battery charge on the phone.

I got into this position trying to upgrade WM5 to WM6 from HTC site.
Process got to 20% and just stayed there.
I reconnected usb cable and got a vendor id error
Then I get the Error [260]: CONNECTION
I have read a lot of posts and have tried the sd method (although i am not 100% clear) and all i get is the screen with four colors, red, green blue and white.
I believe this is the bootloader? I have downloaded RUU_signed.nbh, renamed it to hermimg.nbh, installed on root of my SD card and held OK, soft reset and power button:
My display reads:
HERM100
IPL-1.04
HERM100
SPL-2.03
This is where my journey ends.
All post indicate that the device can be reflashed and have the OS reinstalled. I can't get there from here.
Can anyone please help?

How big is your SD card? Flashing only works with cards <2GB. Also, sometimes certain cards just don't work for flashing, and just swapping to a different card fixes the problem.
I assume you searched the wiki, and found the relevant pages on the Hermes (including SD Card Flashing and other things about flashing/upgrading) there?
Still Lost
My SD is 2GB and I have tried many times but i just keep getting the 4 color screen. rt now when i boot from the SD my screen goes white and displays "Loading..." and then returns to bootloader screen. When i attempt to flash the rom via PC to WM5 or WM6 i get the Error 260, i also get a vendor ID error sometimes.
How can i find the key 8525 thread that i am told has the answer to my delima? I keep picking up bits and pieces but am missing some key steps and tips.

That sounds like the SD card is formatted incorrectly. Make sure it's formatted using fat32, nothing else will work.
Still not there from here
Thanks for your help. Before I formatted the SD FAT32, nothing would happen doing the bootloader reset. OK/ON/reset button.
After format and only the hermimg.nbh file renamed as indicated, I then get what looks like the loading process but back to the bootloader screen.
Q1: This is an AT&T 8525, it was perfectly fine before failure from WM5 to WM6 (process froze at 20%), what is the RUU file that I need to put on SD??
Q2: After "Loading ..." I try the WM5 PC upgrade of ROM via USB cable, I get the load process to appear to work but it gets to 1% and the phone reboots and the PC reports error [294]: Invalid vendor ID. If I do this again I will get the Error [260]. Ive repeated the process several times.
Is this the normal course to take or should the "SD Method" (with the WM5 or WM6 RUU.. file) complete the process to a working OS?
Q3: Is my situation hopeless? ATT will take my out of warrantee 8525 and reflash for $129. Reading the threads it seems that like me this can be done by me, this is my desire.
Q4: I still am confused by some basic terms and assumed steps. I dont understand "Hard SPL" or OLI's IPLs/SPLs and when and when to use them.
The newbe guide has been off line. I will look again. Is there a single place to read about "radio PDAs and the 8525 and understand the software build and custom options?
Sy for the long post. But still want to fix if possible or I will be force to mail in for ATT repair.
Thank you all.

Oh boy, you haven't installed HardSPL? You are walking a bit of a line there mate...
HardSPL is a custom boot loader that makes bricking your phone when flashing much harder to do, and helps large amounts in the recovery process if you phone does brick.
Does the phone boot at this point? If so, do not try flashing the phone again. Go get a copy of HardSPL and install it, then try flashing from the SD.
I still wonder why people didn't read before bricking...
Anyway, you should start reading now and wiki is your friend. Your SPL is 2.03, so look at the bottom of the page (there is only one solution till now, so good luck with that):
Code:
1. Boot OS using KITL+PB
2. Do no disconnect your HERMES till the end of the step 6
3. Download SSPL on HERMES by wifi from ie explorer
4. Launch SSPL then flash Hard-SPL from your computer
5. Put your hermes in bootloader mode
6. Flash any radio in NBH format from your computer
Still researching and working this bricked 8525
Thanks for coming to my aide. I believe that I have Hard SPL'd my device. I downloaded Olipro's Hard SPL v7. extracted the RUU_ file and renamed to hermimg.nbh.
I then put it on an SD card and held the keys and reset. The device displayed a white screen and "Loading..." appeared. Afterward the 8525 returned to the stipped boat loader screen and that is where I am now.
Some of the help i receive and read on wiki threads has me confused with what to do next and how "exactly" to do it.
It does seem that I am not alone and people have fixed their phones and the process to do this is on the forum. I'm just still missing something.
Help me further if u can.
Thank you.

FYI: bad form to PM someone and post the same thing here. Keep it in the thread so others can be helped as well.
As I replied in the PM, if I'm understanding your post correctly, the phone boots to the tri-colour screen?
What text is showing on the screen? This will tell if HardSPL is on the phone or not.

There is small chance (read my previous post) to unbrick device with SPL2.03 so better try to get this back from where you take it.
And please, change topic, because this brick isn't HardSPL fault at all.
Edit: oh dear, it's even not your topic ...good game, I'm off
Hello,
I hear nothing but great things about custom ROMS, especially DCD and would like to try one. I have spent the last few weeks reading all the threads located here on XDA-Developers and on PPCGeeks regarding upgrading an OEM Verizon XV6800 to a custom ROM.
Below are the instructions I have come up with. I would appreciate it if this wonderful community could provide any suggestions or corrections to my steps. Based on your responses I will create a finalized guide for other users to follow.
I have received very mixed results regarding the overall procedure. Some say you must first flash the Sprint ROM and then flash DCD (To upgrade the radio). Others say you can just flash radio 3.39 and then flash DCD 3.1.6. My below steps are going on the assumption you can just flash the radio 3.39 and then flash DCD 3.1.6.
Phone has
Software Version: 2.09.605.8 (I believe this is the ROM version)
Firmware Version: 1.30.60 (I believe this is the radio version)
I have doccumented my
NAM, SCM, ESN (Hex & Decimal) and MSID.
1. Backup everything
2. Connect the phone to the computer using USB cable and ensure it can establish an active sync connection.
3. While the phone is connected to the computer and running Windows Mobile 6.0 run titan_SPL_2.40-olipro.exe to unlock the phone.
4. Reboot the phone and put it in to bootloader mode (Hold down Power button, camera button and press the soft reset button with the stylus until the multi color bootloader screen appears).
5. While in bootloader mode flash the radio to 3.39
6. While in bootloader mode flash the DCD 3.1.6 ROM
7. After reboot install the Verizon carrier cab. Call verizon and let them know you have hard reset your phone so it can be re-authorized with their network.
everything looks good, what i would do though is flash the 3.39 sprint rom to get the radio. and you may not have to call verizon i just got a replacement phone and flashed up did the *22899 and everything worked with out having to call and get a a key.

another suggestion i've seen somewhere else is to turn the phone into flight mode prior to flashing... not sure if it works but would be interested to know
also: DO NOT FORGET to soft reset just beforethe customizations run (when you are finished flashing and the phone reboots itself for the first time..)... you do NOT want the sprint customizations to run, on your Verizon device.

if it's your first time you won't know when the sprint customizations are running. so just don't hit the screen or anything until AFTER you flash a DCD rom

I was in the exact same spot just a few weeks ago, flashing my XV6800 for the first time. I researched and prepared like you have and I think you're ready to pull the trigger.
My only advice is to use the SD method to flash the radio and OS ROMs. I wasn't able o connect via USB after upgrading the radio and the microSD method was incredibly easy and far faster than USB seemed.
Dialing *228 was all I needed after the process was complete, no new A-Key needed or manual entry of provisioning data.
Just remember, when in the process of flashing your phone, keep calm & carry on.
VX6800 upgrade procedures please
I too have read all the post on this and PPCGEEKS and have issues within myself. I start out with a high confidence level and after you get through a page or two of; yes, but do this instead ..... you are left with nothing but total confusion and contradictions. My confidence level is then well down the ladder.
I (we) would all like to hear from a VERIZON VX6800 owner (no sprinters please, sorry) who has actually done this with step by step instructions. Please don't assume we know anything, many like myself are knowledgeable in technical fields but not with PPC's.
This is my most serious concern. I ONLY have access to machines running Vista. I have heard that something, don't know what, will stop at 11% some people say not. What might stop and why? Ive also been told that there are new drivers for 'mobile device center' that fix this problem but no driver dates or version No's are posted anywhere. Any advice here would be helpfully also.
I know several folks who are also waiting for me (the guinea pig) to do this and they will follow.
Thanks for the time all have put into this effort.
All of the instructions and options for flashing are up-to-date in the Wiki.
I own and operate an xv6800, I used the methods listed in every sticky to flash my first time, never had a problem.
I have always used DCD's ROMS and used whatever he had posted in whatever thread for every ROM/kitchen. The man is thorough in putting the necessities in his threads.
Now I just flash whenever, no problems. I run 32 bit vista and xp on my machines and neither gives a headache.
The wiki is your guide to a successful upgrade. Study it.
Nonetheless, for those wanting VZW-specific instructions, here's how I upgraded my XV6800 to radio 3.39.10 and dcd's 3.1.2 a couple weeks ago.
I take no responsibility for anything you do to your device.
Code:
I. Upgrade bootloader
A. Establish an ActiveSync connection via USB
B. Execute Hard-SPL-MFG.exe to upgrade the bootloader to 2.40
[url]ftp://up.ppcgeeks.com/Titan/Users/ImCoKeMaN/roms/Hard-SPL-MFG.exe[/url]
Follow the steps in the command window closely - they are very clear
II. Format a microSD card for installing radio and OS ROMs
A. Using a card reader attached to your computer, format a microSD card into FAT32 with an allocation unit/cluster size of 1024
1. Open a command prompt and type
format ?: /FS:FAT32 /A:1024
where ? is the drive letter assigned to the microSD
III. Use microSD to install Radio ROM
A. Download radio 3.39.10
[url]http://rapidshare.com/files/113794877/radio339.rar[/url]
B. Un-rar
C. Copy RUU_signed.nbh to your microSD card
D. Rename RUU_signed.nbh to TITAIMG.nbh
E. Insert microSD card into phone
F. Force into bootloader by pressing POWER+CAMERA+RESET
G. Bootloader will load and begin loading the ROM on the microSD
F. When radio upgrade is complete, reset phone and force into bootloader
IV. Use microSD to install OS ROM
A. Download the OS ROM (e.g. dcd_titan_3.1.2)
B. OS ROM will be .exe file. Use WinRAR to extract files, one of which will have an .nbh extension
C. Copy *.nbh (e.g. dcd_titan_3.1.2.nbh) to your microSD card
D. Rename *.nbh to TITAIMG.nbh
E. Insert microSD card into phone
F. If not in bootloader, force into bootloader by pressing POWER+CAMERA+RESET
G. Bootloader will load and begin loading the ROM on the microSD
F. When OS upgrade is complete reset phone, eject the card, reset the phone
You will more than likely need your USB-headphone dongle/adapter that came with the phone.
After I upgraded my phone, resetting the phone caused the bootloader to appear instead of
loading the OS. For whatever reason, with the 11-pin USB dongle this doesn't happen
and the OS ROM boots without a problem.
V. Follow on screen instructions and allow customizations to run. Phone will reset when complete.
VI. Install Verizon carrier cab, reset when complete.
[url]http://www.lifesnotsogood.com/dcd1182/titan/carriers/dcd%20Titan%20Carrier%20-%20Verizon.cab[/url]
VI. Dial *228, reset when complete
VII. From your phone, browse to [url]http://ota.wsync.com/[/url] to download, install the XV6800 Over The Air sync client
After I upgraded the radio I wasn't able to load the stock OS and was unable to establish an ActiveSync connection via USB, thus was unable to use the RUU method. Using a card reader and microSD method to flash the new OS ROM saved my ass. I won't flash any other way now.

Can you explain this more? Are you saying everytime i reboot my phone i will need the USB/Headphone adapter plugged in? Or just the first boot?
Also, I dont have a SD reader. Can i just copy the files to my SD card with the SD in the phone and connected via USB?
Thanks,

For me, only about 1 in 3 reboots do NOT require the USB dongle. I have no idea why that is, I think it's an issue with the bootloader, but there are some threads on this board with more technical info. (I work in IT and carry a whole mess of cables in my bag, so it wasn't a huge concern of mine to tote the USB-headphone adapter around.)

Nope. You can read/write to the card but I don't think you can change the file system of the card while it's in the phone. Card readers are cheap, less than $20, and very handy to have.

Also, when getting the required info before i start i dont see a key for security when i do a ##778. Is this ok/normal for verizon?
Thanks again!

After the entire process was complete you are able to sync with the PC? Just not prior to doing the ROM update? Syncing is essential to me for backups etc.
Thanks for all the advice guys!!
wow, so i just remember i had a SD reader on my linux server. I went down and loaded up my VM of XP. Started to format my SD card and it blue screened and now I cant get my SD card to reconize in my computer or phone. I guess that a worthless piece of plastic now.. Ill try the USB method.

That was the same for me when I checked my EPST before upgrading. That's a good thing: you don't have an A-Key (security) now so you won't need one after flashing.

Correct. However, now when I sync I have to use the USB/Headphone dongle. I can also sync via Bluetooth.
I just want to say thank you to everyone. I was able to get DCD 3.1.6 running by flashing the Sprint ROM and then flashing DCD 3.1.6. The only problem I'm having is getting Radio 3.39 to load. It will get to 8% and then the phone reboots.

can someone kindly walk me thru upgrading my AT&T 8525 firmware or software. I originally received it w/ WM 5.0 later I upgraded to original Microsoft WM 6.0 . eversince, I tried flashing w/ cooked software ROM but it wont accept any flashing. I was told, I have to use a specific file to flash it, then I will accept any cooked software (ROM) . You need Hard SPL V7. You SPL needs to be 2.10 oli. The thread I gave you will allow you to download it, its on the 1st page (about the middle - just look for Hard SPL V7).

Mate, there are dangers no matter what you use but I find the sd card method safest. Just make sure you have a charged battery, a 2Gb sd card formatted FAT32 & make no spelling mistakes - hermimg.nbh . About the only way you can stuff it up is to not have Hard SPL V7 installed and if you reset in he middle of the flash. A charged battery is a must, don't think you can charge it while it flashes, it doesn't work.
Happy flashing.... Man that sounds dirty...
Cheers...
This must the one your talking about.........

ok, lets see if i get this right.
1. download hardspl v7 from the first post.
2. extract ruu_signed.nbh and rename it to HERMIMG.nbh
3. copy it to a microsd card, make sure the card is formatted as fat32
4. download sspl-herm from here
5. extract SSPL-HERM.exe and copy it to your phone.
6. insert sd card and run sspl-herm.exe on the phone.
7. you should see the tri-color screen and then it should change to this
8. press power button to start flashing
9. reset when you get the msg that its done.
so far I've got everything needed including the hard SPL-V7, SSPL-HERM.exe, micro SD formatted to FAT32..... hopefully I get this in one shot, wish me luck, any last warning? by the way many thanks to you ULTRA, your my hero . this phone is for my " old lady, hopefully If I get it right, I might get a little extra" you know what I mean!!!!! chow ................... rusty
No problem, you go big boy...
Cheers...
I did everything right,
When it says to press the power button,
I press it, nothing happens.
I don't think im doing anything wrong, i've been trying this for 2 hours, and im very frustrated.............
You need 2Gb or less sd card.
It has to be formatted FAT32.
The .nbh file MUST be renamed hermimg.nbh and MUST be a rom for the Hermes.
As long as these 3 things are right you should have NO problems, however, if just 1 thing is wrong then you won't be able to upgrade ANYTHING...
Cheers...
Phone is a MDA Vario 2 (Herm300), though i had ran the SIM & CID unlocker succesfully a few months ago and have been using an o2 sim since.
I thought i'd upgrade to WM6 (installed it fine over a year ago) so picked the o2 one from the list on here. The upgrade went fine, it completed and i clicked Finish when i was prompted. The device first got stuck on the Windows Mobile screen then froze up when it actually goes past on to the today screen. The o2 customisation stuff starts to install but as before it freezes after 2 minutes or so, after soft reset it bypasses that and boots to Today screen. I'm also getting the No GSM message on the o2 splash screen prior to the freezing up. When it does boot up to Today screen all functions are working for about 2 minutes then it dies.
So now it wont connect to activesync and nor will it respond to any SD card install. Bit cheesed off, had my head in the Wiki almost all day trying things out but with no joy and something that was straight forward over a year ago has turned into a nightmare and my brain now aches.
Is there any way i could get back to the default tmobile rom? All i'll do then is run the SIM & CID unlocker again and leave it at that. I only wanted WM6 for the HTML emails.
You didn't flash Hard SPL V7, did you?
You can try installing the stock rom back again but if you can't get it to run you're in for a world of time consuming reading....
You MUST Install Hard SPL V7 if you recover your Hermes as it makes it easier to recover if something like this happens...

The device was CID & SIM unlocked first. The bootloader shows IPL - 1.04 and SPL - 1.40.Olipro
How can i install v7 if activesync wont connect?
use the sd card method explained in the readme that comes with hardspl

Yeah, remembered that one. I'm doing that now as i speak, just formatted the 2gb card to FAT32. I'll be back with the results shortly
Imanaged to install the Hard SPL on my device via SD card. Fortunately now and again my device boots to today screen, but only for about 2 minutes before the whole thing freezes up and has to be reset.
So during this time i copied the SSPL-HERM.exe to the phone from my SD card, deleted it once copied and took the battery out. Then when i powered device up into Bootloader i just followed the instructions, pressing the power button then the install was complete. Took about 5 seconds.
So now my device is Hard SPL-2.10.Olipro.
Am i right in thinking that now my device is prepared to be flashed? I still get the No GSM warning at the o2 splash screen and the device still crashes after 2 minutes, thats if it got that far after it gets stuck on the Windows Mobile screen.
I'm thinking now i might be better off reverting back to the default tmobile branded WM5 that was already installed.
Try installing that 1st. It may fix things.
If it does, do the search for how to fix bad blocks as it sounds like this may be a problem too.
As you now have Hard SPL V7 installed, after you check for bad blocks, you can then use the sd card method to flash whatever rom you please. I believe its safer than using the PC simply because the only things that will interrupt the flash are flat batteries, manual reset and taking the sd card out during flash.
Good luck...

I followed the instructions for flashing with sd card using the tmobile WM6 rom, which told me to extract the nbh file from within the rom and rename it loading it to the sd card before restarting the device to bootloader.
I did this and it said it was completed after what must've been only 5 seconds. Something must have been wrong with that. Especially as it still boots an o2 splash screen.
What am i doing wrong here? I'm sure i have followed every guide to the word so i'm a bit lost.
Once i've downloaded the rom i want, what do i put on the SD card in order to flash from it?
3 things...
1 MUST be 2Gb card or less.
2. MUST be formatted FAT32 - comes default format FAT.
3. Spelling has to be correct. Must be hermimg.nbh, no mistakes allowed.
Check these things, never failed for me as I don't use the P\C to flash since I found out how to do this...
Cheers...
3 steps.
1. Format sd card FAT32 and copy .nbh file onto it, rename to hermimg.nbh.
2. Insert card into Hermes and reset to bootloader.
3. If everything is right, follow directions.
Easy...
I've done it! Yay
**** knows where i'd be without you guys. BIG BIG thankyou to all who posted useful information for me to read in the forums.
It took a while but eventually the v3a unlocker got there. Booted the phone up and it now seems to works fine, it hasn't frozen up either.
