my qtek1010 just turnes itself OFF - MDA, XDA, 1010 General

am i the only one with this problem. sometimes (2 or 3 times a day) my qtek would just turn itself off when i push the power button (to kill the screen). if i press the power button it just does a cold reset (same effect as pressing the reset button)
am i the only guy with this problem
my radiio is 4.21. i tried several roms from the kitchen but the problem appears in all of them.

another problem that happens sometimes is that when i dissconnect the phone from the cradle it just turns it self off. pressing the on button makes it do a cold reset. is it supposed to do that??!! do i have a hardware problem

The same was happening to me till I upgraded my ROM to AT&T A.30.09 ROM, which is considered to be the best for me (since I've tried all the ROMs here in this site)

thanks i just upgraded to siemens a30.09 rom from the kitchen. lets hope its more stable.
it still goes OFF (sometimes) when i take it out of the cradel

i didn't say what my problem is properly in the very first message. the phone actually goes off by it self when the screen is off after some time

Ohh sorry to hear that! I just tried this ROM on my device & it worked!
Dude, seems you have a hardware problem! :?

Help! Power Button Not Working

Help Guys,
My Power Button is not functioning, when its on i cant turn off the screen by pushing the power button, I have to wait until it shuts down by itself.
and when it shuts down i cant turn it on again by pushing the powr button.
my way to circumvent this is by not enabling the key lock and by pressing any the other keys when its in sleep mode.
I Tried soft reset but it hard resets even if i didnt press the power button.
Should i send it back to HK?
I have the following:
XdaII
ROM ver 1.52.00WWE
Radio Ver 1.05.14
yeah it sounds like there is something wrong with the powerbutton switch
your problem may due to power botton is hang. i used to encounter with that problems. First is due to Battpack when i use shut-down button in Battpack, it's hang. when i soft reset it turn to hard reset. For sure, you need to uninstall any programs that interfere with button mapping and try to use for a period. IF Problems still persist, you should return it to your vendor.
tumtum,
I have the exact problem, but even doing a hard reset and installing only default programs (fresh install) my power button still does not fuction.
What else can i do besides removing sofware?
Help pls.
THanks,
there should be problem with oiwer-button. Like i said earlier, it should be problem with your device. You must return your device to your vendor and check for power-button. somebody in my town has been faced with that problem and he return it to the shop. Shop said it is rpoblem with power-button.
well the thing is..
today i let my friend press the button and whala it worked!
dont know how it happend by now it works fine
thanks for the replies
looks like you'll be spending pretty much time with your friend then
Ditto...
I currently have this problem, my xda II was dropped (by a so-called friend!) it was in a metal case thank god so theres no obvious damage. later that day a program crashed... so i soft reseted it. unfortunately it didnt it HARD RESET i pondered why then tried to turn my device off! with no avail... so b4 it gets repaired (under warranty) I took the black plastic off the back to see if the button was stuck under the casing.... when i peeled it off i looked for the button... it wasnt even there! altho theres no sign of damage wat so ever (no scratches or marks) on the casing, the power button has been clearly wipe
off the circuit board!! if u shake it u can hear it rattling in the depths of the XDA and now its off it doesnt hard reset on a soft reset anymore thank god! im fed up off re-customizing the damn thing and my nearest shop 4 repairs is 8 miles away :-( (brought on the net) so all in all maybe thats the same problem a few of u are experencing Good luck C2k4...
Same problem here ...any HELP
Hi Friends,
I screwed my HTC Hermes power button while trying to fix its earlier problem.
Now to turn the backlight on ..i changed the settings and I can now use any button to bring it out of Sleep mode....
I used a program available on this site to enter bootloader.
However, the problem remains when "power button" is to be pressed.
Any advice on how to get over the "Press power button" to start the ROM flashing....

There is a sticky at the top of this forum for flashing with a broken power button if you have a Himalaya. I am not sure if the same process would work for a Hermes or not, but I would be interested to know if it does. If you power button is still intact though it may not be worth breaking it to find out!

Dead iMate PocketPC (aka XDA2)

Hi Guys,
My device has locked up again this morning. Totally and fully, for the second time in as many weeks. I've had it for over a year now and it has been working fine for the most part.
Anyway, today for a second time the device froze on me. I used the power button to switch it off. Now, the power button does nothing. The soft reset button does nothing too. I can't even hard reset by holding the power button and pressing the soft reset button at the same time. Now the screen if off and the device is completely unresponsive - it is fully charged and it worked first thing after i woke up this morning., after which time I connected to GPRS, checked my email and then started Skype for Pocket PC. That was when it froze and stayed frozen.
My ROM version is 1.72, upgraded from 1.58 ( I think ) about 5 months ago (and I regret doing this, as my battery life dropped from 5 hours to 3 hours per day).
Can anyone suggest how to revive the device other than pulling the batter out and leaving it out for a while?
Thanks for your help in advance.
Paul
Hi
Hello there,
Well, I've got an i-mate as well, and it was 1.5x too, then got it upgraded to 1.72, but never noticed this battery life issue (i felt it was already very short as I used to have 4 days on 6310i) .
Anyway, I suggest you try to get it into the bootloader mode (by pressing the action button, while performing a hard reset). This will get you into that black screen where it is written (serial or usb, v.1.0x). After that, you can try to perform a normal hard reset, without pressing the action button this time.
note that you will loose the data on it as you are performing a hard reset.
Hope it works, good luck.
Thanks for your reply.
Just one question for you - which button is the action button?
You see, I have tried pressing the power button together with every other button (individually) and pressing in the reset switch with the stylus, without any response whatsoever.
Finally, I did what worked the last time - I removed the main battery and left it out for a few minutes. After re-inserting the battery the iMate came back to life and now all the buttons work again as they should. I restored my self extracting sprite backup and I'm back normal.
So, which button combination should have unconditionally reset the device?
Thanks,
Paul
The action button is the centre of the 4 way rocker/navigation key.

I want to upgrade my ROM, but my power button is broken

Hi guys,
I hoped any of you can give me a solution to my problem. I want to reflash my ROM. I've done this several times before. My problem is when I want to put my Himalaya into bootloader mode, I can't, because my power button is broken. Is there anyway to put Himalaya into bootloader mode without using the three button combination during boot?
thanks,
undead
not as far as i know
I read something about SoftSPL / SSPL. Is there any version of this program runs on Himalaya? The ones I got is for Hermes and Trinity only.
peace,
undead
I've the same problem... my power button is unusable due to a falling down and I power off my qtek 2020 via software.
so how put it in bootloader mode??

IT IS POSSIBLE!
BUT DO THIS AT YOUR OWN RISK!!! I'M NOT RESPONSIBLE FOR ANY DAMAGED OR FRIED PDAs
I know because I myself have done it on an I-mate (Himalaya). It took some trial and error but I am now running WM6. In my case though, I had to completely remove the power button from the device. The previous owner dropped it on its head, and I got it for free, unfortunately most of the top is missing, including the power button.
SO, on to how I did it. I took a paper clip (metal) and put it about 1cm down, slightly to the right of where the power button used to connect to the motherboard. Make sure you have turned your XDA/IMATE on before doing this. You'll find that when you find the right area, your device will turn off, or the screen will go dark (like holding the power button for a second).
If you manage to hold it there for the right period of time, while pressing the other bootloader buttons, then you will be able to enter bootloader.
This took me close to an hour to get just right, but it eventually worked.
Note: I have no idea how exactly this worked, but it did. My IMATE was useless without me updating the rom, so I had no worry about frying it if I did something wrong, that is why I was OK with playing around with its insides. BEWARE that you MAY DO DAMAGE to the device.
Good luck.

Defect phone or defect bootloader? Plz help

Hi guys,
My girlfriend just got a new phone so I gave her old X10 mini to my moms. But í flashed cyanogenmod 6 first. This caused some serious issues: The phone wouldn't turn on - only when pressing home+power combination, the phone but eventually turn on.. but sometimes I had to do it many times and plug usb-charger in and out, etc. Very weird.
Today i flashe stock rom via SEUS and the issue is STILL present. Argh. I found out how to turn it on though:
When powered off, i first press the power-button once, till it gives a little vibration. I then press the power-button for a couple of seconds and then release it, then I press back-button and it powers on. WTF?!
Isn't that weird as hell? Is it a damaged bootloader and if so, how do I fix this when SEUS didn't do it?
Also I should mention that the little reset-button has gone.. it disappeared under the phone when I pressed it before og after flashing CM (can't remember). Could this cause this weird issue?
Thanks in advance, from me and my mom
EDIT: It seems that X10 mini (and pro) has a bug with some sim-cards... It works with no simcard inserted. I'll try another simcard in a moment. Jeez..
jesus... even if I choose reboot from xrecovery, it does that stupid thing where it kind a locks itselfs...

Had to get my phone replaced!

Had to get my one day old Nokia 800 replaced today.
Got everything setup last night and decided to power it off just to give it a restart. The phone would refuse to power back on. No amount of button pushing/reconnecting to the power would make it start up again. No power, nothing..dead.
I managed to get it to restart after performing the three button reset. No problem I thought maybe just a one off. Turned the phone off and put it on charge overnight and this morning the same problem returned.. Could not power on. This time the reset would not work at all, no matter how many times I tried.
Carphone warehouse swapped it over in store today for another handset. Hopefully I'll have more luck with the replacement.
Edit: already seen someone else mention a similar problem on here. Hope there's not a bigger issue.
How do you perform the three button reset? My phone randomly decided to turn off whilst I was driving and now it wont turn back on
Yes I've been in that spot as well. For five minutes the phone wouldn't respond to any power button press. Long, short, whatever. I was already starting to slide into panic mode when it suddenly came back alive on another short press.
It's not the only hardware problem I've encountered, I also have problems with touchscreen and buttons and a loose part inside the device.
