upgraded to xdaspecial rom - MDA, XDA, 1010 General

Hello, I've upgraded my siemens sx56 to xda special rom, still I can't register on the network, what is the possible cause of this?...SOS

Have you checked bandwith settings in bootloader?
Maybe you're using the wrong band. Which device are you using? (model stand on the rear sticker of the device...)
As much as i know, the SX 56 are all PW10B devices, that are only useable in 900/1900 MHz networks. On which frequency is your provider working? Have you tried a manual search of gsm networks?
Stefan

upgrading to xda special rom
Yes I've already check the bandwidth, and have already checked it, and I've also done manual selection of the network, and the networks that are availabe appears on my list but it doesn't register. My PPC is already unlocked. But I still can't register on the network. Why is this so?
many thanks....

O2 xda tri-band phone

Hi there!
I live in France and I go often to California. I always had a spare GSM phone tri-band for the US and Canada.
Last March, I bought an O2 xda in Australia, in a Telstra shop, thinking it was a bi-band phone. Back in Paris, I found this site and learned how to access tho the GSM menu (I had found myself how to access to the Wallaby bootloader 5.17, but I didn't press any other key after the message "GSM OK").
I've just come back from San Diego and while I was there I changed the band to "1900"... and the xda worked perfect!!! Back in Paris, I've switched back to 900/1800 and I'm using again the European networks
Thank you!
What?
We've always believed the phone had physically different hardware for 900/1800 and 900/1900 operation, and I seem to remember seeing negative test results.
The O2 XDA you bought for sure is 900/1800 and not 900/1900 ? (remember: it would work in Paris if your provider is on 900).
Let's all follow up on this one carefully. For now, let us not imediately assume the units are tri-band.
I have heard that O2 are likely to release a tri-band version with 64Mb internal RAM.
This will be called the XDA 64i and is likely to sport Bluetooth also.
Any further news on this appreciated.
Hey ArtZ
Let us know if your carrier is a 1800 Mhz Carrier.
If the XDA is triband that would be absolutly awesome.
Hey guys
Now this is VERY IMPORTANT NEWS
Can we have more info and more confirmation (more experience in this ?)
My carrier, SFR is a 900Mhz carrier. In fact SFR (Vodafone) and Orange (France Telecom) use the 900 Mhz but in some places to avoid network congestion they use also 1800 Mhz band. BOUYGTEL (Bouygues Telecom) uses only the 1800 Mhz band.
I've just made a test. I have configured the phone as 1800 Mhz only. I couldn't find my carrier SFR. Then I tried to select manually the network and I only could see BOUYGTEL (1800 Mhz). I have tried in the past my XDA with a BOUYGTEL car also and it works fine. So my phone is configured for 900/1800 carriers.
After this, I changed network again (1900 Mhz) in Wallaby bootloader. Then I cannot see any carrier. In California I was connected to Pacific Bell using the 1900 setting.
As I told you before, I bought my xda in Australia last March with the latest firmware. It's a 64 Mb internal RAM
I'll be back in California (on vacation) on June 30th for 10 days. If you wanna make tests...
Hi ArtZ
This sounds great.
Sorry to bother you, but can you tell us please which firmware U are using for the PDA and for the phone?
Thanx!
PS: for me it will be end of the year, so this is a long time...
I forgot to tell you the versions installed (I haven't updated them yet) are:
RUU 3.14.17
RSU 4.17
I don't think my xda is the XDA 64i. It has no Bluetooth. I think the 64Mb version just came out in Australia when I was there in March. There're are maybe harware changes with the 32Mb version and the 64Mb is a tri-band.
Hope that helps.
It's me again, sorry to bother you.
I run all the tests from the Wallaby bootloader. The version I have is GPRS 4
It will be interesting to check if you have new versions over there.
I found out that the xda has just arrived in France by Bouygues. I will try to get more information about it but I think it's the same model I have. Bouygues doesn't say if the HTC iPDA is a bi-band or a tri-band telephone

Hi,
My version is GPRS 4.1332s54 What ever this means?
how to change the frequency?
HI Artz,
Great news you have given. Can you please clarify step by step how you changed the network frequency of the phone?
Thanks

DANGER
Look on the back of the device, the part number will tell you if it is a 1900 unit or not.
PW10A1 is the 900/1800
PW10B1 is the 900/1900
The Bootloader is identical. CE is different as the option to chose the 1900 band (which you have to do manually) is only in 1900 CE versions.
The hardware is different between the two versions. The radio circuits and filters are different. You "could" switch the radio of a 1800 unit to try and do 1900, but your coverage would be extreemly poor as the 1800 filter is actually filtering out half of the 1900 band.
Your 1900 operator will NOT like you.
superblurr, lazy boy!
All information is here, in xda-developers.com. Just take a look at this page
http://www.xda-developers.com/bootloader/
It will be nice if someone from the States comes to Europe and try his xda here. And if you go to the States (or Canada) take your xda with you. It's the only way to find out if there're different models
My version is:
GPRS 4.1332s54 (as silversurfer)
RUU: 3.14.17
RSU: 4.17
Model: PW10A1
Anybody got a spare XDA they want to send to the US for testing for a few days? It usually only costs me about $12 to ship something that size to Europe, and takes about 5 days. I would imagine it to be similar the other way.
this sounds great! i own a 900/1900 from t-mobile. is it then possible to change my 1900 into a 1800 mhz? because i get sometimes no network signal. i live in europe, and need the 900/1800...
Can anyone explain please?
I bought a US T-Mobile (PW10B1) and did a SER1.2 flash, it went flawless....Thanks to the xda-developer team and Jef, you guys are the best!! The only bug I notice so far is Phonext which is not working at all. I am using the phone in Singapore using the 900/1800 band and it works perfectly. I've been reading about TMO2003 in this forum, my question is does this upgrade come with bandswitch.exe, this feature is very essential to me as I travel very extensively btw Asia, Europe and the US. By the way does anybody know what is a .rar and .nbf file? :?:
.rar files are compressed files like zip.
download a freeware prog called winrar and you'll be all set.
The UK will see the new XDA from O2 by the end of this year.
It's now known as the XDA II
it will be 64Mb, tri-band and bluetooth plus a built in camera and enhancements to the wi-fi link etc.
Thanks Rustek. How about .nbf flies? Is TMO2003 for PPC2003 only? what's the diff. compared to SER1.2?

Incorrect Model number...

Not a problem...but interesting. I just noticed that the model number on my T-Mobile reports it as a PW10A1 instead of PW1OB1. So a question:
Does it show this number by first querying the hardware or is this info stored somewhere in the ROM?
Cheers.
It is stored in the ROM. The A or B refers to different modem part (to do 1800 or 1900), and the 1 or 2 that follows it refers to slightly different plastic housing.
This is interesting. the first error message I received when trying to do SE Rom update was that my device was PW10B1, while the upgrade was trying to make my unit PW10A1. Mine is a USA XDA.
This eventually (and mysteriously) worked itself out.
However in light of your reply XDA developer, can you tell me if this unit operates as a triband unit? I ran bandswitch and 1800 came up as an allowable choice.
Also, do I need to change bands if I travel overseas or is this automatic?
Users of the PW10B model (even though it thinks it's called PW10A after the Special Edition ROM upgrade) must switch manually between 900 and 1900. Users of PW10A can leave it at 900/1800 and switch automatically.
Functionality of 900/1800 phones (PW10A) in the 1900 band has been reported, but is believed to be erratic at best.
Thanks XDA
If users of the PW10B model have to switch from 900 to 1900 manually,
if we also manually switch to the 900/1800 setting, will we get functionality on an 1800 mhz network? (such as some of Asia)

Maybe. Possibly only some of the time, if you're lucky, and very likely with lousy coverage, since your filters are tuned for 1900 MHz.
Switch PW10A to B

Peter, I unlocked my TMO XDA 1 to sell it using XDA-Developers-V21 (had to use NK.nb1 & SD card bootloader method). I'm trying to put my previous version back on and it thinks the phone is PW10A and won't do the upgrade. You mentioned PW10B users must manually switch between 900 and 1900. How do I set my phone identity back to Model #PW10B so I can put my previous ROM4.01.00 on?

You need to do it the other way around: adapt the ROM image so that Programme A thinks it is right for your phone. For this you need our tool adaptROM.

gsm band

Hi,
i guess that you saw this question somewhere but still there is no solution for it.
in israel there is two gsm providers, they are both work at 900/1800.
i have sx56 phone that is 900/1800.
the problem is that i can only find one of them in my sx56 and i dont understeand why,
i tried many radio stack versions and different roms.
what else could it be?
maybe a radio stack that i didnt try?
please help.
thanks
Have you tried changing the band to 900/1800 in the bootloader?
yes,
but the thing is that both of them are 900/1800 and i can only find one
Can you explain in more detail what your problem is, if you want 900/1800 and you have 900/1800 what is the problem?
i can connect only to one 900/1800 network.
there is another one than i cannot find when i click (find network)
Have you tried inserting a sim from this other provider in your xda?
yes i tried it.
also have you tried to use the sim in a normal phone ?
You have been misinformed
You propably have figured it out but still:
In Israel there are two GSM providers
Orange which band is 900
Cellcom which band is 1800
You listed your device as a B type which is 900/1900
Hence you can only connect to Orange

how do you use the bandswitch selector?

hi there...
i bought a Siemens SX56 from ebay while i was in the US. i downloaded the bandswitch selector so i can use it in my country, which is a gsm 900/1800 country. however, when i try to click on the bandswitch selector icon, the phone icon on the upper right side of the screen disappears!!!
can anyone please explain to me step by step how to install this valuable tool? i'm a bit dumb when it comes to techy stuff...
thanks!
I am sorry to inform you that you probably have a phone that is capable only of 900/1900, no amount of switching will enable it to work on 900/1800. On the label at the rear of your device you will see the letters PW10B1 or PW10A1, if you have the label with the first figures it will not work on 1800 but will work on Vodafone or O2. Orange/T Mobile/Virgin will not work. Hope this helps.
When you make a hard reset, and press the "calendar" button, you can switch to 900/1800 band....
My XDA it's PW10B1
Hope it help you.
thanks for all the info guys! really appreciate it.
As i am still travelling right now (i don't have my xda with me ) i haven't tried the bootloader method. did it work for you? if it worked for you, then chances are it will work for me as well. my sx56 is also PW10B1.
What do you think?
Thanks!
The bootloader will switch the radio but you will not be able to use 1800 networks, your phone is not physically capable of doing so regardless of the bandswitch feature so really there is no point in doing it.
I was able to try my sx56 back home (philippines - gsm 900/1800).
It works just fine!
Wicheslady, are you claiming that your phone which is not capable of working on 1800 is in fact working on 1800. Choosing 900/1800 in the bandswitcher does not endow the phone with new hardware, it will work only on the 900 band in a country that uses 900/1800.

[Q] AT&T Titan Use in United Kingdom UK

I just purchased an AT&T branded Titan for use on T Mobile here in the USA. I didn't do my research properly and I just assumed I would get at least 3G. It seems not. However all is not lost if I can just unlock it and use it on my trips back to Scotland.
If I unlock the AT&T Titan will I have any issues just popping a UK SIM in there? Does it run better on some providers?
Thanks

You will need to check with the Carrier that you are going to use the Titan over there... and see which bands of HSDPA that they support. The UK Version of Titan seem to be supported 850/900/1900/2100 , but i don't think the AT&T version support 900 band tho. You will have to recheck.
Good Luck.
And yes, you need to get the SIM-Unlock code based on the IMEI of the phone and then you can insert any sim in and the phone will use it just fine as long as the carrier able to provide network for it.
Looks like you will only be able to use it on GPRS
UMTS/HSPA/HSPA+ tri-band (2100/1900/850 MHz) and quad band GSM/GPRS/EDGE (850/900/1800/1900 MHz) and LTE BC4/BC17
Thanks for the replies. It makes no difference to me what network I use .
I'm having a hard time understanding the differences.
If I look at this page it lists what my phone supports..
http://www.gsmarena.com/htc_titan-4027.php
Looking at this it seems my specs match up with most major UK providers
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_mobile_network_operators_of_Europe#United_Kingdom
Therefore shouldn't it work?
If it is limited to GPRS what are the limitations?
Thanks
Yep in theory it should, Just double checked and I posted specs for Titan2 oops
At&t Titan ie: Frequencies HSPA+/WCDMA 850/1900/2100 MHz and Quad-band GSM/GPRS/Edge 850/900/1900 MHz, Its missing 1800mhz for UK which basically means you cannot use T-mobile or Orange, But Vodafone or O2 or anything running 900mhz should be fine.
The 2G band list says "quad-band" but then only lists 3 bands. I'll bet that's a typo and that all 4 bands are supported.
I've used my unlocked AT&T Titan with local SIMs in numerous countries on 2100MHz 3G... works great.
I have at&t Titan from US in London with O2. Sometimes it woks fine on 3G sometimes doesn't work at all. I forced it to use only 2G and then it works fine.To force the phone Enter code ##3282# Then go to the Three blue dots on the right corner go to settings and in network type choose 2G or 3G depending on what you want.
Received my Titan 2 today from Across the pond, It's at&t branded but unlocked, It is working fine and shows 4G lol, I know it is just a 3G connection but no problems using it on O2, Had to manually input APN settings in cellular and that was it
Well that smile didn't last long, Can't send pic messages, Any ideas?
Hi AndyFZ1S have you tried the connection setup application from htc? Thats what i usedwhen i moved here and it worked fine. Still my 3g connection is poor or inexistant is most areas, i believe at&t phones are missing one band.
Sent from my Titan using XDA Windows Phone 7 App
^@andres22, Thanks & yes have tried connection set-up but it says the carrier is not in the database etc, 3G works fine I just cannot send or receive picture messages, There is no option to manually put in the settings either so am kind of stuck really,
Uhmmm funny that my setup apolication has O2 settings and yours not. Sorry man. I cant think of anything else.
Sent from my Titan using XDA Windows Phone 7 App
No problem, It may well be you have a different database on your at&t Titan compared to the at&t Titan2, Never mind, Hopefully there will be a way to sort it.
I'm having similar issue with Titan 2 using on T-Mobile US. MMS is the only issue. T-Mobile does carry Nokia 710 and HTC Radar. I wonder if there is a way to get settings from those phones.
Sent from my HP Touchpad using xda premium
The only way I can think of doing it is by flashing either a Stock Titan2 ROM (if it exists) or a custom one, That way Connection set-up would have most of the carriers in its database and not just at&t, But that won't be possible without HSPL or any ROMs, Maybe HTC could do something their end to update connection set-up etc?
