Upgrade to PPC2003 for Voice Command, but.... - MDA, XDA, 1010 General

I went from the XDA ROM, which I love, to PPC 2003, in order to make use of Voice Command 1.5.
When I tried to add VC to my XDA ROM, it failed.
My question....Is there a way for me to get my XDA ROM back, and still make use of VC?
my machine specs:
ROM: R.30.07 ENG
RADIO: A.33.03
PROTOCOL: 1.3.3
MODEL: PW10B1 (was PW10A1 before upgrade, and used AdaptROM to install on my machine)
Thanks
Ken

Voice Command requires WM2003. So there is no possibility to use it with PPC2002
Stefan

Kennyb, what was the nature of the failure when installing Voice Command 1.5. Did you say you added it to your rom or did you install it as normal?

Extracted radio ROM v1.21.31.10 from new jasjam ROM

Here's the extracted radio 1.21 from Imate JasJam's 1.31.305.2 ROM.
HERM_1.21.31.10_type2_radio.rar
Remember:
- You need bootloader 1.04 to upgrade to a extracted radio ROM
- screen will show "Upgrade Radio Stack Please wait........."
- after finishing flashing radio (about 15 min) you will see an "Upgrade Error", but the radio ROM will be flashed anyway.
- no need to hard reset after upgrading the radio, only soft reset with stylus when upgrade ends.
- upgrade at your own risk, i take no responsibility for anything that happens to you, your Hermes, your marriage, etc.
For more information see the extracted radio wiki page.
Enjoy!
thanks machine for all
OK, I flashed this Radio ROM into my Hermes
Well, guys, I 've already flashed this Radio ROM into my Hermes.
The procedure itself worked as usual. Radio version before update was 1.20.31.10.
Device booted up after flashing successfully
At this moment I don't see any difference between 1.20 and 1.21 versions.
[HELP]

Thx...upgraded succefull...after downgrade the Bootloader from 1.06 to 1.04..then able to upgrade.....
Didn't see anything special...hehe...
I have flashed Bootloader 1.01 MFG on my vodafone 1605, with this bootloader, i successed flash voda french rom, htc 1.35 rom and Dopod CHT rom, i flashed bootscreen too.
but i didn't find any method to flash a Radio rom, there isn't explication in Wiki neither in thread.
can you tell us pof, how to flash a radio rom with a Bootloader 1.01 MFG, please!
thanks at first
@googoo no way to do this directly with 1.01 MFG yet. Essentially, the process is this:
First flash a 1.04 bootloader using 1.01 MFG. Next, flash desired radio. Then flash back to 1.01 MFG.
detail on these steps are in the Wiki
@qooqoo: sorry I forgot to add it in wiki, i thought it was obvious, but you're the second person asking this, so I added it to the wiki now. Thanks sleuth.
thanks Sleuth255 and pof.
I think I made a mistake... I'm using SPL 1.09 and I didn't even realise... It says its upgrading radio stack!!! Whats gonna happen???
I've upgrade to this ROM to test it...
BTW: I ve updated the wiki with the Protocol Version installed with this radio: 32.53.7020.01H
Test?
Can anyone post his experiences with the new Radio ROM?
Well I am using 1.20 and sometimes the device freezes while receiving a call. I am not sure if this is Radio ROM related and I am not sure if I should now upgrade to 1.21 or downgrade to 1.16
TyTN is a German T-Mobile MDA Vario II, it came with a 1.03/1.06? Radio ROM.
Edit: Will try with 1.16 now - but a 1.21 stability report would be appreciated..
@Applestar:
My Jasjam which is a HT647... came factory installed with this new ROM which is now available at the imate website (www.imate.com):
ROM Version: 1.31.305.2
ROM Date: 8th September 2006
Radio Version: 1.21.31.10
Protocol Version: 32.53.7020.01H
Ext ROM Version: 1.31.305.104
Bootloader Version:1.06
The problems I faced with this original ROM was that the Radio would freeze abruptly without any apparent indication. The GSM signal showed full bars but I could not make a phone call. Similarly when someone tried to phone me he would get an indication that my mobile is switched off. Other than this the PDA would continue to function normally and therefore no warning that the Radio has stopped functioning till I needed to make a phone call. I could not establish a pattern when this occurred but it would definitely occur once or twice a day. The only way to restore my radio to working condition was to switch to flight mode and back or a soft reset.
I then downloaded the ROM which was available at the i-mate site (www.imate.com) at that time i.e. on 9th January 2007. The ROM that I downloaded was definitely older than the one which came preinstalled on my jasjam and is detailed below:
ROM Version: 1.20.305.3
ROM Date: 21st July 2006
Radio Version: 1.07.03.10
Protocol Version: 32.41.1010.02H
Ext ROM Version: 1.20.305.104
Bootloader Version:1.04
Ever since I have installed this ROM the problem of the Radio freezing is gone for ever and now I am absolutely satisfied with my investment.
Furthermore I have not experienced any adverse effect of the older ROM. The free RAM is the same for both ROMs, I do not see any difference in signal strength or battery life either.
I would be interested to know from members who have recently downloaded the the ROM if anyone has noticed the Radio freezing problem
Kind Regards
ok, thanks the operation is correct.
I've finished the testing of this 1.21.31.10 Radio ROM.
I used to use the 1.20.31.10 ROM and this is the comparation of this ROM with the new 1.21.31.10 ROM:
- Under GSM and UMTS the time to register in the network as the coverage is the same in both ROMs. I haven't noticed any difference while talking and receive voice calls.
- But THE PROBLEM is that the data calls are broken in this ROM. I used direct Modem connection with my work (we got two 56k Modem waiting for incoming calls). It connects without apparently problems with the modem (maybe it takes more time than the older ROM) but the data interchange is very sloooooooow and suddenly it stops! The data call isn't dropped but it doesn't interchange data after two or three minutes of slooooooow interchange. Finally, if you close the call and tries to reconnect it can't!!!! WM5 says that an unknown error happens and can't be connected!!!!
After a soft reset you can connect again but it remains very sloooooow...
Fortunately I've switched back to the old and stable 1.20.31.10 ROM and everything works normal now (thank God!).
So, my final advice:
DON'T USE THIS ROM!!! IT LACKS DATA CALLS BUT WHO KNOWS WHAT ELSE IS BROKEN!!!
My recommendation: 1.20.31.10 ROM.
Best regards.
I recommend: Radio 1.07.03.10
With this Radio I had very good signal strength. Better than Radio 1.18.00.10.
I think newer Radios aren't better to lower the SAR-Level.
I am having a very positive experience with this ROM. While I doubt there is any way to explain this, but after I installed it, I was able to use the Microsoft Voice Command through the BT headset and the hack that is provided in a different discussion group. Using 1.20, that hack did not work with my device. Otherwise, I see no difference.
One new feature provided by this radio ROM as compared to the one in the previous JASJAM WWE version:
Automatic date/time and time zone synchronization with your GSM operator.
There is a new properties tab in Phone properties where you can enable/disable this feature.

HERMflasher: Open source RUU for HTC Hermes devices

Are you a Linux user tired of rebooting into Window$ to flash your device? Now you can flash your Hermes under Linux using HERMflasher: the first open source Rom Upgrade Utility for HTC Hermes devices.
Features:
Flash NBH files
Flash raw (*.nb) radio rom files
Dump radio rom
Serial prompt (replaces mtty/minicom)
Usage:
Code:
# ./hermflasher -h
=== XDA-Developers HERMFlasher v1.0 by pof
=== Open source RUU for HTC Hermes devices
Usage: hermflasher [options]
options:
-F [radio|nbh] [filename] flash radio or nbh file
-r [filename] dump radio rom
-s [device] uses another serial device (/dev/ttyUSB0)
-i get device info
-v verbose mode
-p enter serial prompt (minicom like)
-d show debug information
-h shows this help message
Why did you wrote this tool?
warrio sent me his bricked SPV M3100, I found it was hanging when the RUU issued a command which required checking security (info 2, info3, task 32, etc...) but radio bootloader was responsive, so to unbrick it I needed a RUU which did not authenticate to normal bootloader prior to flashing radio through 'rtask a'. When it successfully flashed a radio, I thought I could enhance it to flash nbh files also.
Is it safe?
It has been extensively tested with several NBH files and GSM.nb files, with bootloader 1.04 and Des SSPL 1.09, never bricked a device and unbricked one but... use it at your own risk
Can it be used in other devices?
NBH flashing is only valid for hermes bootloaders (uses 'wdatah' command) but should be easily ported to other devices such as Trinity or Artemis, if I have some time I will probably port it in the future, otherwise feel free to port it yourself.
Radio flashing and dumping will most probably work out of the box on other devices such as Universal and Magician, but I haven't tested it. Again if I have time I will try to make it more generic so it can be used on other devices too, but now it only supports Hermes.
Will it work on other operating systems?
I've only tested it on GNU/Linux... I'm not a good programmer nor a Unix guru, so feel free to send patches if you port it to other device or OS.
Zip file attached to this post contains source code & GPL license (must be logged in to download).
Enjoy!

a quick question pof... which handles the authentication... the RUU or the bootloader?
I tried the program but it failed on my jASjAM when it came to the password query. This may be because I have IPL 1.01 and SPL 1.06. I destroyed my PDA attempting an upgrade. Now everything fails on INVALID VENDOR ID. This may be a silly question but would it be possible with a program like this to write the CID to allow me to install something to bring it back to life. I am awaiting a microSD to see if this might be a valid option.

The RUU sends 'info 3' to the bootloader, then the bootloader sends a block of 32 bytes of pseudo-random data to the RUU and the RUU generates the dynamic password with this information.

HERMflasher won't make miracles
In SPL 1.06 you can't access the radio bootloader through 'rtask', so this is as unuseful as the usual RUU.
Cool !!! thank you pof !
If anybody know how sync my hermes with my ubuntu (Which soft use ?)
If my question have no place her please move !

Yes, this works on an Apple Mac OSX as well So all you Apple users, no more rebooting in Bootcamp..

Nice work, pof. Thanks.
The -i function hangs somewhat ungracefully when it encounters a radio bootloader that doesn't support the queries.

Make sure you got the "Developer Tools" installed, they are on your OS X Install DVD. Then use the "./makefile" to create the bin. And make sure you use -s to take the right device, it will not work with the default settings. Basically, I wouldnt recommend using it without at least basic knowledge of the OSX bsd structure.
works on intel mac mini core duo
successfully compiled and ran on an intel mac mini core duo running 10.4.8 and latest developer tools.
nice job pof!

Hi ady
before we go further I need to know 2 things.
Do you have a HTC athena or variant.
Did you use the wrapper and follow the instructions from here
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=316846
hello, i have htc x7500 advantage and i want to install the english wm 6 rom, wwe. first i have to unlock it, right?
I didn't used that. if i will, i don't need anymore athenaunlocker? what's the difference between athenaunlocker and hard-spl from that link?
You have to explain WHAT HTC wm6 ROM you want to install First
If you have and old WM5 x7500 just register on www.htc.com and download the HTC OFFICIAL WM6 update for YOUR language!!
ONLY
If your X7500 is SIM LOCKED you need to UNLOCK it first(wrapper isn't for SIM Unlock) and ATHENA UNLOCKER meets your needs
i wanna install this rom: AP Dual 3.0.

If you want the AP3 0r other roms in the sticky made for SPL 1.2 http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=397518
then you should run the athena wrapper that Olipro has made to be as much foolproof as possible
As he says "your device MUST BE RUNNING WINDOWS MOBLE and MUST BE SYNCED WITH THE PC.
to recap: IF YOU ALREADY HAVE 1.20/1.25, DO NOT USE THIS."
It seems that you must use the same USB port as well.
i have allready downloaded that rom, all i need to know is the difference between that 2 files: activeunlocker and hard-SPL. And, as I saw on a post of that link, i can use one or other from that files. now, tell me, activeunlocker should I copy on PPC? (i will receive it tomorrow, and i want to know what i have to do) Because from PC doesn't work, it gives me an error.
ATHENA UNLOCKER is needed ONLY if you have to unlock the SIM too.
E.G. If your phone, WITH ORIGINAL ROM, can use ANY SIM, you don't need to run ATHENA UNLOCKER
As CMONEX said here
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=2030747&postcount=81
wrapper is hardspl + customruu
unlocker is hardspl + sim unlocker
SPL means a part of "bios" used ALSO for defining your device language and vendor (HTC, T-Mobile, DOPOD,...) and avodi flashing a "non original" ROM
To flash ANY rom you need to overcome those informations. You can do this running an application, but if something goes wrong during the FLASH and your device doesn't start anymore... you are lost. You can't run the application again, because you haven't the OS!
HARD SPL has been developed to avoid this problem. It is a NEW SPL (1.2 or 3.x) developed from OLIPRO (and CMONEX too for 3.xx) flashed into your device. it is IN the "BIOS" so, even if your OS doesn't start, you can flash ANY ROM
Both, WRAPPER and UNLOCKER will flash HARDSPL. You need only the WRAPPER if your phone can use any SIM!
When you choose the ROM some are build for the SPL 3.x and other using the 1.2 SPL.
With WRAPPER or UNLOCKER you have the 1.2 SPL release, if you want to test a 3.x ROM you need to flash the AP4 rom.
The only differences between SPL 1.2 and 3.x are the "partitioning" of the device. AP4 needs more space for the system files, then the 3.x SPL was developed to increase the System Partition. SPL 3.x flashing IS ONE WAY ONLY, (since Cmonex relase the tool to go back): if you flash AP4 you CAN'T flash any origninal HTC ROM

Listen to what Sergiopi said.
You will always get an error running these programs unless you have an activesync connection to the ppc when you run the program.
The way you were talking I thought you had already tried to run it on your PPC

Need advice, with Telecom NZ titan, rom1.3

I just upgraded from my old harrier, trying to figure out the extensive information avaliable on upgrading the titan.
So, Rom: Telecom, 1.30, boot loader v1.40
http://wiki.xda-developers.com/index.php?pagename=TitanStockHome
On the main stock thread, it says:
The nueROM web site indicates that nueSPL version 2.47 is designed for the HTC Titan with GPS enabled only (ROM versions 3.xx or higher)
Click to collapse
Obviously this isn't the right bootloader, and therefore i can't use that bootloader. Also this seems that I can't load 3.xx roms.
http://wiki.xda-developers.com/index.php?pagename=TitanOtherHome
Looking at this page, there are several different radios listed, but I can't see any that do windows 6.
Can anyone tell me what upgrade path I need to take to get windows mobile 6?
I don't even know what type of rom will work with my telecom phone :\
Any assistance appreciated.
You CAN unlock via nueSPL 2.47
Myself i unlocked via olipro 2.4 <-- unlocking this way is not for the faint of heart ..
Once you have done this, you can load a Sprint radio rom version 3.35.04 onwards then ..
you can then load a WM6.1 GPS enabled, Rev A EvDo, rom, as well as have the capability to use an 8GB Micro SDHC SD Card..
If you don't note down your EvDo password before upgrading, you will lose EvDo speed and be stuck with 1X mobile broadband speed
or you can save some heartache and let me do it for you for a fee send me a PM
I may have to take you up on that, but I will give it a go myself first because i want to figure out how to do this.
I tried running the getspl.exe on my phone, to try and recover my msl number, but it just crashed on execution.
Are there are other ways of doing this?
getspl..
dont bother, it doesnt work on the telecom titan.
.. much to learn you have, young skywalker
our MSL is 482826
i) to get to the EPST menu, enter ##778 then press talk
ii) click on "edit"
iii) enter the MSL given above
on the left hand side menu, click on security
go to the security settings and save the HDR AN AUTH LONG password <---- this is vital.
This password is lost during the radio rom flash. After unlocking, flashing the radio rom and then the OS rom, you can re enter the HDR password back into EPST.
Keep me posted
actually you cant unlock via nueSPL 2.47.
Because the Telecom Titan is WM5 with a non GPS Rom, the you can only unlock via HardSPL 2.4.
nueSPL 2.47 only unlocks GPS enabled roms.
sorry for the wrong one, i was thinking in terms of a post flash rom.
Cheers
Hey, so just to make sure I understand what i'm doing here before i take the final steps, does this sound right?
1) Save HDR info
2) Unlock phone with HardSPL 2.4.
3) Rom: Telecom, 1.30, boot loader v1.40
4) Install 3.2x.Hard SPL and flash the SPL
5) download desired rom
6) install rom (somehow), most likely the Titan R4R.
This will allow me to use my phone, have win6 and gps, correct?
Thanks!
