Hi,
I'm a hp rw6828 user and is very much enthusiast to try out those wm6 roms made by those experts. However, i did a mistake while trying to flash.
I tried flashing with a rom from wantat but i forgotten to delete the EBOOT.nb0 before i clicked "upgrade". Then the program stopped at 6% for a long time and didnt move. I disconnect the cables and tried to turn the device on.
THe device can go into the wm6 and the start button can be use but the screen is "moved" to the right side and other function is not working.
After that, i did a hard reset and the the os seem to work like normal. However, when i tried to go into bootloader mode by pressing both "_" and soft reset. That didnt work. I tried another way by taking out the batt, leave it for a 10mins, press both "_" and soft reset, put in batt, release soft reset then "_" keys. That didn't work either.
But, just lately, i've tried taking out batt, holding the camera key and softreset, place back batt, release soft reset n camera button. This method works and i get what it seems to be an atom bootloader?
i get a black background with "MN1 Bootloader Mar 29 2006 13;52;14 copyright..... 1) debug module through UART 2) jump to DM Enter your selection.
I've searched the forums and found few ways to downgrade back to wm5 but those aren't the same conditions with what im facing. Can someone recommend how can i downgrade back to wm5 with the conditions that im facing? All you help is much appreciated. THank you.
You are lucky , at lease your device now become atom. My was totally cannot on power and just vibrate. Till I have to sent it back to HP SC and change the main board . Can you understand chinese , if yes than I have a solution you may try . Else you have to wait . I just download a program and doing some testing , the program is in chinese language .

Is it possible to solve the problem by sending back to hp using warranty claim? I think i still have warranty left but its ending very soon. One more week i think.

I don't think you still can claim under warranty unless you can make your phone total can't on and access to windows mobile. Last time I sent it back they charge me RM 385 to change the main board . I did talk to their technical personal , it seen like they don't know what is bootloader and flash it back to original rom . What they do was just change the main board with preloaded program .

If you think that you can claim you warranty , than you just go a head . If not , may be you can access my thread "HP6828 WM6" , download any one of the rom that I post , follow the instruction accept downgrade bootloader . Enter your phone in bootloader mode . If you can start the process , than it will flash a new hp bootloader into your phone .

You've flash ATOM Bootloader, there are many ways to restore to HP Bootloader ... don't worry !!!

Can share the information how to restore back the HP original bootloader ? And the procedure . Thanks
First you must have HP bootloader file (Eboot.nb0) 1.01 or 1.05 are OK.
- Use DRUU to restore Bootloader : replace ATOM bootloader file with HP bootloader file
- Use miniSD to restore Bootloader : copy Eboot.nb0 to miniSD card, go to bootloader ... wait 1' it will auto hard reset.
After flash successfull remmember remove Eboot.nb0 from miniSD.
- Reflashing Bootloader using JTAG. (Use only when can't use two above menthods)

You should use DRUU of Chartreux, replace Eboot.nb0 and choose OS and Eboot
Remember copy a HP68xx ROM (diskimage_Ver.nb0) to C:\Windows\Temp with DRUU of Chartreux then start...

-You must extract RUU in C:\Windows\Temp (no sub folder) then replace Eboot.nb0 with Hp bootloader 1.01/1.05
-Copy a diskimage_Ver.nb0 (any ROM WM6 for HP 68xx) to C:\Windows\Temp
-Run the DRUU program and choose OS and Eboot and start.

It worked! Thx a lot nhocbanme and wantat. The methods restore the atom bootloader to hp bootloader. The DSUU by chartreux is a good tool.

help !!
im facing another problem again...
this time i changed the file extension EBOOT0502_MNT_01.01.03.nbf to EBOOT0502_MNT_01.01.03.nb0
(file from HP official WM5 SP34074, inside the installed folder )
and copy to memory card and put in 6828 then started to go bootloader screen
few minutes later my screen goes blank, and i tried with the revive methods
which is
-press the 2 softkey " - " and reset button
-put in the battery ,
-release reset, then release softkey
but didt work out!!!!no repsponse at all..tried many times..possible dead ad???
plz help me abit ..big troblem!
I dont think i can help u much here as im still new. From the looks of your problem, i guess u forgotten to cut the first 12bits (or something like that) of your bootloader when u use it to flash via mini sd. Maybe you can try the JTAG method mentioned in the atom wiki to restore your bootloader. Good luck.

The same exact thing happened to me yesterday..I was already about to sell my ipaq as a dead unit and i came upon this thread and after following the steps it did made ipaq alive again..

hello,all the masters of this site and pda phones....i have a spv m3000 from orange G4 locked and tried to flash t-mobile radio prodigy with softSPL...it went on first screen with the beer image and got stuck on it...after i removed my battery it wouldn't start,enter bootloader,soft,hard reset it wont even charge(red led not blinking) my computer doesn't recognize it.i tried giving the batey a 9v,6v shock and nothing happened phone is still dead...i'm not a good electronist so i can't use the method to rewrite the inernal memory soldering wires...etc....could you give me a solution???i'm desperate(

Well, there's no such rom 't-mobile radio prodigy',you are mixing things here.Its either Radio Rom or OS(Rom). Assuming by your post 'the beer image' as you say,it must be the "Button's Rom 1.05" with IPL/SPL 1.05 (G3 Bootloaders). Did you flash the Button's Rom 1.05 on your G4 device,well,if so then,its a "BRICK",coz flashing a G3 Rom with IPL/SPL in it'll certainly brick a G4 phone,Now nothing can be done with it.
well i've heard something of leaving it 24 hours without the battery and shoking the battery but no luck so far...isn't there any program that would recognize this brick as a flash memory so i could just put the bootloader back?and yes i have put a g3 rom on my g4....and it makes me feel like an idiot...can't i just jump start the thing into the bootloader?(T-Mobile_UK_2.19.11_Radinly - this is what i flashed)

Are you sure it was T-Mobile_UK_2.19.11_Radio only which you flashed and not the Button's Rom 1.05 ? coz flashing any Radio rom will not Brick any phone,regardless it being a G3 or G4,coz it doesn't include any IPL/SPL (Bootloaders) in it,its safe to flash to any G3 or G4 phone.
But what about you said it boots up to splash screen with a 'Beer Mug' on it,coz only Button's Rom splash screen displays a Beer Mug on it.
i'm certain this is what i flashed...and it was a beer mug(at least half of it) now it doesn't do anything...after i removed the battery it died

Strange !!!
A Radio Rom never flashes any splash screen and it never displays any splash screen,especially a Beer Mug splash screen,you must have been mistaken and downloaded and flashed the Button's Rom 1,05,which has G3 IPL/SPL in it,and now its Bricked,nothing can be done with it to revive,except replacement of the 'DOC Chip' (M-System Flash Chip),which I'm afraid is not possible by anybody other then the manufacturer/vendor of the device.
just found out that in the directory named T-Mobile_UK_2.19.11_Radinly was CUSTOM__RUU_Wizard_1050412_WWE_101_11210_WWE....did i brick it?...and how much would it cost to change that chip?...any place i could order another motherboard? maybe it's another way to do it...maybe someone does know how to use JTAG...give me some advice please...

YUP !!! there it is,I was correct, its Button's Rom 1.05.
Well,yes ! its "BRICKED"
Only,manufacturer/vendor can provide you the motherboard or tell you the exact cost of it,or you can try the Ebay if they have it or can provide it.
Secondly,its still not known or if anyone can revive it through 'JTAG' ,guys here have been working on it,but were not successful and stopped trying it,you can have further info on it by checking out this link or 'Search' through google.

well....to all the readers of this post...i didn't manage to revive it through any method and decided to send it to the provider repair center...i have sent a message to caesar54 who managed to revive his wizard using jtag and waiting for a reply....IMPORTANT : DO NOT FLASH YOUR G4 DEVICE WITH A G3 ROM IT WILL BRICK YOUR PDA (I JUST FOUD OUT THE HARD WAY) SO REMEMBER..IF YOU DON'T KNOW WHAT YOU ARE DOING....DONT DO IT...i will post updates on what i have done with mine if someone intersted...

thank you very much zabardast....i went to the orange shop where i was instructed by someone "high ranked" and someone over there told me that they have a tool that writes software even when the phone is dead...probably through a service cable or something...they said it would be back in 2 weeks maximum...and i will be informed of the price of the repair wich i will post (including my decision) anyway agan "DO NOT FLASH IF YOU DON'T KNOW WHAT YOU ARE DOING"...hope it will get it back after 1 week functionally and cheap...i will search other forums and find posible solutions that i will post...till' then...good luck and work safe
until my phone comes back repaired or not i'm searching for an alternative...does anyone have a wizarrd to sell?preferably a broken one...broken display or something...but with the mainboard intact?

well when the board comes back be sure i'll help...but there would be another soluution...we could find a site or store that sell DOC chips...the rest is simple...we just need that chip...i'll search other forums for wizard jatg points...i really like your initiative...

a fiend of mine wich works at a repair center said he could discover JTAG points but omly with a board that is functional...anyone out there willing to sacrifice or sell?i'll post news on JTAG

ok i have atom life with a wm5 pre-installed in my device when i downloaded the Xda_Atom_Life_WM6_WWE_RC2140907B2 from www.seeo2.com , when i begun to flash it gives me ID ERROR , it tells me that the rom is not for this device , as i have atom life .
how i can solve this problem , is there a bypass CID Check ? or there is a problem in my device .
I have flashed the rom via sd , but i want it from the update utilty as it is better and can flash the radio image .

I remember reading this quite sometimes ago, so i provide no gurantee that it will work or even brick your device. but here goes
1. when u run the orginal update files, the content of the updates will be extracted to \Windows\Temp\
2. Remove the first 12 bytes of FLASH.DIO, save it, and rename to AL1.DIO
you then can try to copy it off to your miniSD card, then restore it.
Maybe, Medkid or other atom life ROM cookers here can help me out here pls

Hi kosomkeda,
More than a pda my friend. . Can use everything except recognizing Sim. Imei lost. Sim no showing (It shows no Sim). (cannot repair so far.)

I really don't know. But when flashing via cable, only three steps appearing on the PC's screen :
+ 1st : Writing OS
+ 2nd : Writing Extended Rom
+ 3rd : Writing Mot (stage 1-8).
I think the 3rd step is the one relating to Radio, but really don't know what file it is.

i have p3400 old.it was running good.i have hspl it with olipro.flashed it many times with custom roms.every hing was going well.last time i wrong hspl with oref.now on startup at boot mood it shows spl.1.017 oref.and i cant go further.i have almost tried all roms.win 5.0,win 6 and win6.5 but all ends with error 300[invalid update utility].i have done mtty.exe.it is done it shows spl1.017 oref.
plzzzzzz tell me what happened to my phone.is it bricked.or it is changed to p3400i.what i do now.

i think this problem can be sort out if we can create the bootloader image of an OLD gene then using it through MTTY with the old GENE SPL image
Anybody knows how to do this?
You can try this....
1. Stop ActiveSync
2. Open Task Manager (press Ctrl + Alt + Delete) on your PC and
stop these two processes rapimgr.exe and wcescomm.exe
3. Plug in your device via USB. Your computer should be asking install a driver. Install and continue.
4. Now Run mtty and choose USB in 'PORT'
4. type "set 16 0" without the quotes to tell bootloader to boot the OS after reset.
5. type "task 8" to get your device formatted.
6. Now unplug your device and manually reset it.
just a suggestion, found this for some other device.

but pls note i had also asked the same friend to make ur SPL cheker a Sticky and the same was done so i don't think it would be right now to ask him again
but ultimately it was done by Flar who is the admin for this forum so i suggest that u send a PM to flar and give a few options for ur id and im sure if possible it will be done good

i tried updating my htc athena/ameo but it got stuck in the boatloader screen n i tried hard resetting which didnt work n i sent it to the company to fix but they were charging £350 something n i aint ready to pay dat so can anyone please help me with how i can get my phone back to normal ??

if you are in bootloader, try to flash your device with a rom (spl1.2)

Here you have complete tutorial for flashing with SD card http://wiki.xda-developers.com/index.php?pagename=HTC_Athena. Basically you got to have slow SD card rename xxx.nbh file to ATHEIMG.nbh and copy the file on the card. Insert SD card in athena remove sim card and hard reset the athena (camera button and reset). Then you will see flashing gray screen. USE THE ROM YOU HAVE ON YOUR DEVICE. if you flash your device with rom for spl3.5 you will loose device ID and have a lot of problems (i had them )
