I have been following the forum since I got this beast.
Personally I have had a very pleasant Windows Phone experience using Titan. However in last few days the negative feedback threads have increased in number. Presuming that number of end users is increasing, the amount of threads/feedback would have increased anyway. But then does it mean that majority of users are regretting buying this beast? - I am not.
However after looking at few threads, I've noticed that majority of issues with Titan are to those owners who are on AT&T. Could it be carrier modifications in the USA? Is Titan available on any other network in the US? Anyone have feedback?
Most Europe based users have not give much input in those problem threads, so am assuming it's just AT&T handsets that go weird.
But it will help if we guessed a rough number of Titans and their providers/sellers.
Not sure what a poll of owners will show you without correlating it to how happy they are. I am on AT&T and am quite happy - other than WIFI being a little over sensative. If I did not turn off the sound enhancements, I think I would be very unhappy.
I am on at&t with the titan and have no issue with it. Its been an amazing phone, best i have ever had.
AT&T here, other than my disappointment at "4G", everything is fine. Most notably, I don't have any signal issues while holding the phone, I ran several tests with the app Bandwidth
Astute observation. As another poster said on another thread, we drooled over the Titan so much that there had to be a little bit of let down.
I tried to balance my likes and dislikes in another thread, but my bottom line is that the good still outweighs the bad, and much of the bad is software, not hardware, so might be fixed in the future.
I would agree that, yes, the Titan is the best phone I've ever owned, period.
All that said, I just picked up my wife's Focus not ten minutes ago, and I really miss its form factor, weight and saturation.

The only reason I din't correlate it to happy or not happy was because it will be too relative an idea of happiness. e.g. I might be happy even with those wifi issues, purely because I am with a network provider that gives me unlimited internet and never use wifi!
However, it is definitely a good idea to have a poll correlating experiences with geographical purchases.
By the looks of just initial 9 votes it looks like either way the views are from AT&T users majorly - happy or unhappy ones. I am just a little inclined to believe AT&T modifications could be at the root of all these(?)
Can someone let us know if on WP AT&T puts it's own bloatware like on Android? Or is bloatware additions just restricted to manufacturers and not network providers?
I know here in the UK Orange is nasty and very notorious in terms of modifying any OS to an extent by their useless bloatware. But am not very sure about AT&T, however would be good to add to my knowledge

They install a couple AT&T specific apps, but you can uninstall them. Other than that, it is as stock of a rom as you can get. No bloatware.
I had all the att stuff off ,except for the Myatt app, within an hour of getting and activating my Titan. Love it, only hiccups so far are getting my old word,excel docs off my old Fuze- not all of them are docx format. Hope the next update includes the ability to mms with gif and audio files. I have fun just turning it on and flipping screens smooth and bright.
Edit to the office docs: had to reset the office hub on the phone, no problems now reading earlier versions of office and can edit newer versions.

Haha exactly my feeling! turning on and flipping screens gives me so much of satisfaction!
Now that we know ATT bloatware is nearly zero, I am struggling to figure out how come so many ATT users have dodgy titans that need to be replaced within one week. Again not 'so many' probably 5-6 that might be reported out here in the forum.
My Titan after 7740 update has worked so much flawlessly and everyday I keep discovering new apps that never imagined to exist on my old Android phone! This WP Titan is a treat to my eyes!

me too,the phone is just great.No problem so far.
Well for one thing us AT&T users are running older software on our Titans than the rest of the world because AT&T sucks.
Unbranded Titan UK, No issues, Perfectly happy and hope it stays that way.

Unbranded UK on orange no problems so far, battery lasting much better than i hoped slight issues with the radio and wifi , not had any screen lack of response as metioned in other forums, last phone was HD2 running 'everything'.
This phone is the only upgrade i could go for after the HD2. Sadly just lurking in hope of the 'custom ROM' i know the geniuses here will eventualy produce
After putting WP7 on my HD2 I decided to get myself a Titan until something better comes along here is Australia.
So I got myself a AT&T branded unit off ebay, SIM unlocked it using htcimeiunlock.com (which took all of a couple of minutes) after AT&T customer serice told me I couldn't unluock it and I'm now a happy camper on the Telstra NextG network here in Oz wiht my Titan.
I am seeing 3G/WiFi issues like others but other than that the unit is going well.
Oh I also got the Mugen Power 1950mAh battery, which I can run my Titan for almost 2 days, with bluetooth and often WiFi on as well.
Now if only we can get a custom unlocked ROM the world would be perfect
I have heard a mixed bag of reviews about this phone but what I gather is most bugs are no ironed out. I have a SGS2 at the moment, but its to big and I never really was a big android fan and well iOS is looking very dated, I love the look of the Lumia 800. Could you recommend it?
I'd vote yes. The look and feel is great. The OS works well. Main caveats are lack of apps, and bugs/short battery life, as you say I hope these are mostly sorted. Biggest frustration for me has been the won't charge/won't turn on problem if you let the battery run flat, but I'm hopeful the latest update may help.

I feel exactly the same way about the SGS2, Android and iOS.
I originally bought the Lumia as a stop gap - I was sick of flashing roms onto my Galaxy S and thought the Lumia would be nice to own until the iPhone 5 comes out. But after having the Lumia for a month, Apple will need to do something drastic with iOS as well as the hardware to get me away from my Lumia. I love it to bits.
You're picking the right time because the annoying bugs - terrible battery life and bad audio quality are now fixed. I'm sat here listening to music off the Lumia via a set of Sennheiser HD555's and it sounds brilliant.
The OS is great, it has a couple of minor usability issues compared to iOS which is very good in this respect, but it blows Android out the water.

So far all the issues have been dealt with, if your phone has a fault that needs sorted, I can assure you that Nokia will sort it out. They are people that listen to the consumers, as most bugs have so far been dealt with. I have no problems with the phone now apart from my screen being messed up, but hopefully that's getting replaced by them. I would recommend the phone as it's excellent value and Nokia are doing everything to make this phone one of the best out there, as you can see on the adverts, as well as the amount of time they're putting into the Lumias. You get what you pay for, oh if you're coming from SGS2, it's a little on the heavier side.
Really tempted. Can these be developer unlocked?

At the moment, no, we haven't heard anything from Chevron sadly, only via App Hub ($99) or student dev unlock. But we can always hope it comes soon. Test the phone out first, to see if you can stick without homebrew as you are coming from an Android (the mother of all customization).
I changed from sgs2 and I have to say that I haven't looked back. This phone is brilliant and finally a good phone with excellent usability.
I came from a Mozart and it was a relief. The design is so much better, and it's quite much faster as well. I have never owned an Android, never wanted one, and with my Lumia I'll never want one.
WP7 is a genuinely different beast compared to iOS/Android. I'm not going to tell you that it's better, because that all depends on taste, but if you're getting a WP7 phone then the Lumia 800/900 is an excellent choice.
As a developer I'd never go back to Android simply because it's so horribly buggy and the software design so godawful that even a dualcore gigahertz processor isn't enough to make it render things smoothly. What's more, bugs and security exploits don't get fixed unless you install your own rom or wait a year for a carrier-approved update. There's so many bugs that it's almost impossible now to write an app that doesn't crash on at least 10% of the devices out there
As for downsides to the Lumia, there's no internet tethering at the moment, although WiFi tethering has just been announced. Battery life isn't great, but it seems to differ from phone to phone. When I just got mine I had 8-10 hours of battery life, but after two or three charge cycles my phone lasted a full day, and I really haven't had problems since then. As far as I know this is all fixed with the new update though. Also, WP7 doesn't have all the apps you're used to having on Android, and the ones that are there aren't always the best. Spotify for instance is totally unusable for me, and I've uninstalled it about a month ago and downgraded my account. Things like Facebook and twitter seem fine though, and it's nice to have people's Facebook pictures show up in your contacts. The browser is also great and fast, although I'm not too happy with Bing and rather use Google. Nokia maps also isn't as good as Google maps, but a third-party app fixes that pretty quick.
Imho, if you want a phone that just works, get either a WP7 phone or an iPhone. If you're getting a WP7 phone, get a Lumia 800.

an awesome phone, i love this phone, iv tried android, iphone blackberry, and id rather use this phone than any other phone.
i can definitely recommend this phone to everyone after the latest update. most bugs have been sorted our( not that i was having problem with it previously) but in general the 12070 update really does make this a valid choice..
on the other hand if you could wait for the lumia 900 it would be a good idea..but as long as you dont need a huge display..and a fornt facing camera the 800 should be cheaper and it does feel more comfortable in the hands

imho way better than iphone and android platform the 800 is so nice to hold in your hands its the best phone i have ever used, and i have had a lot from iphone 4 to 4s to galaxy nexus and sg2 the lumia is a much nicer phone to use and looks better.
I wouldn't recommend it. I've been through 3 of these devices all with different hardware faults. And the 900 is close to release, it's got the same features, a bit bigger and better screen (Not PenTile) and FFC.

I feel the same way. My girlfriend has my old iPhone 4 and I sent the HTC Sensation packing to pay for my Lumia. This phone is ****ing amazing. I have had zero problems except the camera. I figured out that to counter this I can turn up the exposure value in the camera settings and the pictures are fantastic!
Note: I imported a HK model here to Beijing (we have sweet markets) and do not have Nokia Music.... this is lame otherwise, the phone is great.

My Lumia Experience

after using a Lumia 800 for a couple of weeks, here's my two cents:
I have gone through all iPhone-Generations (and some symbian-stuff before) and currently own a bunch of current phones, among them the SGS2 (custom firmware, admittedly) and an Lumia 800. My company is developing apps, that's why I get to play around with smartphones a lot.
The Lumia 800 is hands down one of the best looking phones around. The size is perfect and it feels just right. I also dig the responsiveness of the user interface and I really like the approach of smart tiles in Windows Phone. Not as cluttered as android widgets and much smarter than the iOS counterpart (there is no such concept).
Unfortunately, there are a lot of real show stoppers that make me pick up my SGS2 in the morning, instead of the Lumia. Let's start with basics like calendaring and e-mails. Handling of calendar invitations does not work most of the time, the phone does not even handle .ics-files, which makes me pin down invitations, then go to the calendar and create a new entry manually - c'mon, this is basic stuff!
If you are setting up Google Mail on the phone, you will see only the first level of tags (a.k.a IMAP-folders). If a tag has sub-tags, it won't be displayed in the list, making the whole concept useless - bummer.
Syncing your contacts with google works in such a way that all your contacts do actually appear on the phone - except for random phone numbers that just will not be synchronized. If you really want to have all your contacts' phone numbers on the Lumia you better go through all those contacts and make sure the phone numbers are labeled in a way the Lumia can understand. I am not sure which labels work reliably. Updating all contacts just for a bug like this really is a tedious task!
The integration of facebook is pretty well done, unless you have a name that is so common that there are other people you know on facebook that have the same name. In this case, messages and profile pictures of the other people of your name are displayed as _your_ messages and profile pictures. Guess some developer decided to ditch unique IDs and go for names instead - another bug!
Talking about bugs: most apps that I really got used to on other platforms are sub par or not available at all on Windows Phone. Remember The Milk, evernote, spotify, rdio or even facebook - those apps are in no way comparable to their counterparts on iOS or Android in terms of features and stability.
And then there are a lot of other, small things:
- No tethering (ok, this is supposed to come in a future update)
- no image scale-down possible when sending via e-mail
- mute does not mute all sounds
- no ABC-bar in contacts list, you have to search or scroll a thousand times to find a contact
- Marketplace is slow and often inresponsive. Is there a way to list the apps I have bought? I have not found such an option
- battery runtime: though much better after last update, it is still tough to get through an entire day
- Once you install many apps (like I do) you will start to miss folders or other means to organize your smart tiles and the application list - a general problem of Windows Phone.
I have to admit that some of the trouble is certainly due to the fact that I use google services instead of Exchange, which might yield a better experience on Windows Phone. Then again, this phones' target audience is more likely to use free google services than Exchange.
That being said, I still like the phone, but it has way to many quirks to be a reliable business phone. I really hope Nokia and Microsoft get these wrinkles straightened out because the interface surely has a lot of potential.
Until then I will stick to my ugly Android that gets the job done ;-)

My theory is that since carriers hate tethering, this is part of Nokia's strategy to entice carriers into selling more Lumia devices during the initial launch period. Delivering an update (much, much later?) is a compromise to appease users who need tethering.

Marketplace sucks. The only way to get a list of apps that you have bought (and re-install them) is through the www.windowsphone.com site. Lots of app reviews aren't shown either.

Yes, but how do you quickly jump to, say, "M". Aaah, I found it: double tap on a label and you will get the entire alphabet! So this one can be scratched due to user dumbness

@oskariunit: By the way: The alphabet in the contact list is nice but also has the bug that the first tap onto a letter does not open the alphabet-list if you have been scrolling the contact list before. Probably the first tap just sets to focus to the button and the second tap registers. One tap suffices if you open contacts and directly tap onto a letter without scrolling before, as the default focus is obviously on those letters.
And no, this is not user dumbness but a bug.
It has come to my attention that a few people have been misunderstanding a few recent posts by myself. This is post is to clear the waters up a bit and to explain my position as a developer here on XDA.
As many of you guys know, we're probably the most lively "dead" device on XDA. At least in my opinion that is. We have been through a lot as a community but we still manage to survive. But recently things have been getting a little tense.
I received this device last summer like most of you have. When I got it, I immediately started figuring out how to get CM7 on it. Problem is that it was my first Android phone and with all the ways that Motorola locked it down I had a lot to learn and no time to learn it. After I learned off and on how to get things working on the X2 during the NO free time I had last fall I cranked out a pretty much solid CM7 in a week.
Now for the explanation for CM9/ICS. Most people probably think that since I could crank out CM7 so fast that I would be able to do the same with CM9 and make it just as good and amazing as CM7. Although I had it booted on the first build, it was FULL of errors and the touch screen didn't even work. ICS and CM9 is definitely not as easy as CM7. CM7 was already a year and a half in the making and had most of the problems worked out on all the devices that when it finally came time for us, it would just as smooth as butter as soon as it was booted. CM9 hasn't had time to develop into a "smooth" ROM for most devices; especially non-official like ours. The code for the touchscreen to work wasn't even in CM9 on my first build, for example. The problems for CM9/ICS can be narrowed down to a few things:
Graphics Memory
No Official ICS
Kernel Improvements
Graphics Memory and No Official ICS: Due to the way that ICS handles the way it puts stuff on our screen we run into Video RAM (VRAM) problems on our device. Basically the routines that control it are expecting the memory to be mapped (stored) in a certain way in VRAM. On a device that has ICS officially, this isn't as big as a problem as the proprietary files (props) are coded to respond to those requests and mappings and as such run smoother. If a device doesn't have ICS, most it usually has a similar device in which props can be pulled and ran accordingly.
This is not the case for Tegra 2 phones as no Tegra 2 device has official ICS. In fact the Tegra kernel (just looked this up) is only at 2.6.34-rc3 officially and have a 3.1.10 kernel in developement (Motorola can update it again to .35 if they wish to do so like for the ATRIX). Because of the lack of an official Tegra 2 kernel for Linux 3.X, and likewise the props for such kernel, we can't have props that handle the requests the system is asking for. And even if another phone gets updated, we're locked and stuck, so It doesn't matter either way. This means that VRAM problems will probably always be there and that there is nothing that I can do for it. Best thing I can hope for (and this is slowly making it's way through CM9) is that the code in CM9 is updated to allow us to handle the VRAM differently like in CM7/GB.
Kernel Improvements: The kernel (that's supposed to be) for ICS is 3.0 or higher. This includes changes in memory as stated above, touchscreen handling, device interaction with the kernel and many others. That being said, we don't have those improvements thus causing problems. These include memory as stated above, touchscreen not working (obviously fixed), data usage not working, data monitoring not working, and a few various ways other routines to draw to the screen and handle other things (such as why Chrome is picky). Some of these can be backported (downgraded) to our kernel with mixed results.
Problem is they have to be complied with our kernel and must match the kernel version in every way. That is why the kernel check is in CM7 and CM9. I can slowly work through implementing these routines through drivers known as kernel modules (mods). I have made mods for data usage (with a few issues) and another one (which not sure what it's supposed to do yet). I cannot (as in it's impossible) write them to change the memory handling. If I could even build them the kernel won't let me load them due to routines of same name fighting for control.
Think of it like the phone is a car and you and your friend are in the front (the kernel routines) and you have the exact same name. Meanwhile, you have another friend in the back (the OS). The OS says, "Hey Routines Named the Same, grab the wheel and turn turn left!" You would turn it to your left, but your friend (the other routine) has a different view of what left is and instead wants to go to your right. Obviously some problems arise.
Regarding the Soft Keys Issue: I know a few of you guys are a little upset regrading the fact that I won't add the soft keys in there by default. I have a justifiable reason behind not adding them: our phone already has buttons.
Our phone was designed to have hardware buttons that separate from the screen. Adding more buttons to the screen for buttons that already exist is not advantageous. It also unnecessarily takes up screen space that makes our phone our phone. Now you may be thinking, "Well the GNex has the soft keys on the screen..." You are correct. But the screen itself has actually been extended (as in a non-standard physical height) to accommodate for the soft keys and also has no hardware buttons for the menu and home, etc. In fact! The Nexus S (a still HIGHLY developed for, supported device and previous "Google Phone") doesn't even have the soft keys enabled from the software directly available from Google themselves.
With that being said, XDA user csking33 has made the option of softkeys available to the public should you choose to enable it. He has it working on the current Alpha 4 and I look forward to him getting them working on Alpha 5 when I release it. That is just a short (believe me when I say it's short) explanation as to why ICS is just a FUN FUN FUN thing to work with.
Personal Problems (I have a lot): This is not meant to be a whine-a-thon, more of an explanation of why I can't be as dedicated as I'd like to be. I have explained why ICS is a pain, I'm here to give you a brief rundown as to why I (personally) can't just make things work. I am a student studying Aerospace Engineering (not Computer Science or whatever else). It has kept me so insanely busy that I can't even begin to describe how much little time I have. I spend all day at school and all night doing the homework for it. I was lucky (once) when my Flight Structures II homework only took 5 hours to do. With so many long homework assignments and group projects it's a miracle I even survive. Next semester will be worse because now I have to actually design and build a model plane from scratch that does whatever my professors says it has to do. This is includes the whole design, approval process, building, testing, breaking, fixing, getting approved again, get it flown, doing it's mission and presenting our project. All that on top of the homework I have to do.
Whenever I do get free time during the day, I try to spend it with my girlfriend and/or friends or (if it's a few days) I go to visit my family (this weekend I am, for example). Family and friends have always a top priority of mine since forever and I won't let a phone be the reason why I don't see them IF I see them. In fact the donation money you guys have supported me with is going to get new tires for my car before I go visit my family. It has also bought me spare batteries and cables for when I really mess things up.
After all this is said and done, I stay up to 4 am working on the phone so that you guys can have a semi-legitimate Android experience. I do it because I want to and because we as a community deserve it.
It saddens me to know that I'm (essentially) the only one left working on the X2. Others pop their head in every once and awhile to help or to do what they want and that is GREAT. I love it. I'm always more than willing to help others out if they ask. And all they have to do is ask. PM me here on XDA, join me in the IRC or tweet me on Twitter. I'll be sure to get to it eventually.
TL;DR:
CM9/ICS will be unstable for as long as I can see in the future. There is not much I can do.
No I won't enable soft keys, there is no point in a default build. See the post if you wish to enable them.
I'm a really, really busy man but I do what I can. You guys have helped tremendously in supporting my work and helping me live a little easier
Thanks for the explanation. At this point I guess all we can do is hope that someone at Motorola feels sorry for us and leaks us some goodies. I bet with the unlocked goodness ICS would scream on this phone, even with it's less-than-optimal amount of RAM.
I just want to personally thank you for everything you have done with this phone. I still use CM7 as my daily driver and love it despite the Wifi and the root issues and will continue to use it until I say F you to Motorola and get a different phone a little more dev friendly.
You are doing a great job keeping the DX2 afloat. If you can get ICS in this phone you'll have a very bright future ahead of you. I wish you the best of luck but I don't think you need it

I'm glad you came out with this post. I have had this phone since last summer like you and since then I have used both of your ROMs and have followed your work. Mainly because there are not very many developers still developing for this phone. Lol. I think a lot of people needed to hear this. you don't come in here that much and are not very active in the forums. Not that it's your fault or anything. we all know that you're busy. But people are used to regular updates. Even if they are just verbal ones. So when a dev takes their time and no one hears anything, they don't understand. Most of us in here explain your situation when someone comes in here asking about stuff. We are all grateful for what you have given us so far and the things that are coming down the road. Without you there would be no development for this phone. As much as everyone would like to believe, we all know you are not just some guy sitting behind a desk all day working for us. By the sound of it, it looks like school is going to be getting a lot more busy for you which means less updates for us. By the time you get around to developing again for this phone I may have moved on to another. Just want to say again. Thanks :good:

I'm not a dev, but I am a project manager who works very closely with them, on very large scale deployments. Something that has always impressed me about you Bryan, is your prioritization and time management. Knowing where to focus energy in order to achieve maximum result, especially when strapped with limited resources, is a skill not as common as one might think--you've got it in spades.
I guarantee when you enter the work force, it's going to be something that sets you apart from a group of otherwise smart guys. Project managers and directors will LOVE you for that skill set.
That being said, thanks for giving us a portion of a sorely needed resource, it's appreciated.

Look, thanks every and as such. For those of you who think that I have to explain myself, I pretty much do. A lot of you guys know the basics behind what it is I'm dealing with, but don't KNOW. If that makes any sense. I really enjoy working on this device and working with the community. I know it seems like I might get snappy sometimes or I'm short with my answers, but please just keep in mind that I have a lot of things on my plate and that I mean well.
Someone pointed out that the XOOM is running a Tegra 2. I did forget that fact, however even with that being the case, it has helped us very little in our endeavors. In fact it's still on 2.6.35 if I remember correctly and the props are still designed with that in mind. However it is still an updated kernel to work with ICS and such still causes some problems.
DZK, man I appreciate all your efforts! I don' t have the plate you do to deal with but I can surely understand where you are coming from.
I do believe that the majority of the community appreciates tremendously what you do for us, and the ones that can't be patient and understand well they can just flip off!

At least you would get a phone with official ICS and it actually already does since UKB is using the official kernel from the China released OTA. Its a great phone with great battery life just a smaller screen. You have done so much for us I would be happy to hook you up with a great deal. One I won't be able to tell my wife about lol

Abandoned Apps.. I'll start off with one that has frustrated me..
Remember when Fedecarnales said he was re-writing LP? would you believe it if I told you he said that 2 years ago? and I quote:

As you may or may not know, LauncherPro is based on the stock Android 2.0 Launcher. All the base code comes from it, and all of LauncherPro’s features were added on top of it.
While that has worked really well, the problem is that the 2.0 stock Launcher wasn’t coded to have 7 homescreens, or a lot of the features that exist today in LauncherPro. That means that many features in LauncherPro are a bit hacky code-wise. The stock Launcher’s code isn’t very flexible either, so in order to implement some of the features I want to add to LauncherPro, some major changes need to be made to the code.
Instead of keeping on adding stuff on top of the stock Launcher, I’ve decided to do something more radical. A few days ago, I started rewriting LauncherPro from scratch. That is, starting with a totally blank canvas, and building it with LauncherPro’s feature set (and other features in my todo list) in mind.
What does this mean for you?
Well, the final outcome of this decision should be, in a nutshell:
Improved speed
Reduced memory usage, which means fewer force-closes and possibly allow us to have up to 9 homescreens
Increased flexibility. I’m coding everything to make it as flexible as possible, which will allow LauncherPro to better adapt to new device form factors, such as tablets.
Cleaner code that I’ll know inside and out. That means that adding new features can be implemented faster since I’ll know every single line of code in LauncherPro.
Rewriting the app will give me the opportunity to fix the little bugs that haven’t been addressed yet, and to improve parts of the code that could use some improvement.
The current LauncherPro will continue to get updates while I work on the new code, albeit perhaps a bit less frequently. Rewriting the entire app from scratch is a huge undertaking, but it will definitely be worth it in the end.

Edit: A few people have asked about how will this affect LauncherPro Plus users. Rest assured, you won’t have to pay again to get the Plus features. The new rewritten LauncherPro will simply replace the current one.
As a side note, right now I’m working on an update for the current LauncherPro, which will bring a new feature for Plus users, some bugfixes, and more. It should be out in the next couple of days.

Although he claims he's still working on it via his twitter account, many users have come to believe he's abandoned it.. It was such a great launcher back in its day and he shouldn't abandon it and if he already has, which is more than likely since it was 2 years ago, then he should've at least told us. Its like UberMusic came out and hasn't been updated in over a year now.. another abandoned project? Any abandoned apps you wish dev's kept on developing.

I just googled around and it appears to be a bit of a hoax.
he took to his twitter saying 'Yes, I'm still alive! Sorry I haven't been very active here lately' or something to that effect.. haha. I doubt he died.. if he did.. what a last tweet that was. I wish someone could take over where his last project was left but I don't think he responds to people about it that well.

I think there needs to be a bit of honesty from the app maker and more of an understanding from the consumer who either purchases the product or downloads the free app.
Would I be wrong in thinking that - producing an app is far from simple? In the sense of that when it's created and sent to the market or brought here for the attention of the masses - it would be simple if the app worked perfectly on every phone. From what I have seen in forums that is not the case. Things might/must get frustrating from the creators point of view when it's all working on certain phones and has to tweak it to work on a particular phone model. Or frustrating when you got hundreds *****ing about the same fault and post upon post is berating the creator why it isn't fixed like now, as well as the consumer throwing their dummy out of the pram and downvoting the product because of a small problem.
People forget - that for the most part - these people have their own lives to lead and can't simply drop everything instantly in order to fix the app and ensure it's working.
For the consumer who downloads these apps - it's got to be frustrating when an app that does exactly what it says on the tin, to suddenly stop working or that the creator has changed directions and is simply not listening to their users. A good example of this would be Go SMS Pro. In where they have made so many changes and adding on icons into the app drawer that has no relevance to the product or stopping the ability to save your txt conversations on your own phone.
I think for some future app creators, they need to be able to have a thick skin and realise that there are days they won't be liked for the choices they make in adding or removing features. But if they have decided to call it a day, be honest to the people who have bought the product and say 'Thanks for the good times and to the people who purchased my app - but it's time to call it a day... blah blah blah...
Should the product be passed on?
This is a pickle of a conundrum? Let's look at this - Would you be willing to give your 'baby' away for free? I mean imagine the creator of LP did this and months later finding out that the LP is selling better than ever? You'd be pissed wouldn't you? I don't know how this would be made easier and how would you be able to fairly say 'This is what the app is worth... Give me a thousand bucks? Okay - some would laugh at me saying this - but this is the sticky point. Would you with a product that people still pay for - give it away to someone free? I don't think I would...

I used to be very active with the HP touchpad shenanigans so I'm not a complete noob but I'm certainly out of the loop. This is my first android phone though and I have ten days for my love to blossom with it. I really want to like it but as I assume all IOS losers say, android is mighty overwhelming! Still, I've spent the past couple days lurking the forums and am fully rooted so my questions probably won't be the most stupid you've ever heard.
Anyone out there want to take a bit of time on skype and give me a rundown about what they like, cool tricks, their favorite app options, where the unicorns are, and such?

Mainly I just want to ask opinions about common things, I know better than to ask "what is the best launcher" but I'd like to have a verbal (IRC isn't my favorite) conversation about their various advantages with someone who has tried most of them in the past few months. I've read so much about all these questions but finding up to date info is exhausting since Android has so much history. I've spent the last two hours just researching music syncing but most comparisons are at least a year old so I end up cross referencing complaints with change logs to see what has been fixed, but that's a slow way to learn...
My main questions probably fall into these categories which I'll keep updated, if anyone simply wants to wildly throw out their opinions below rather than taking me up on a chat feel free!
Merits of various ways to sync music with itunes or WM player, preferably where I can control the bitrate - Went with tunesync, feedback?
Merits of various launchers and UI tweaks - Grabbed Apex before I realized it would cost me blinkfeed which I want to give a chance, none of my reading warned me that launchers would replace that...
Merits of various keyboards - Swiftkey is so hot, so hot right now, so I grabbed it. Won't sync with my facebook though, typical?
Merits of various roms/merits of tmobile bloatware - Trying stock rom/kernal for now but I hate all the extra apps I can't get rid of. Tomorrow I'll look for a "poof" app before investigating kernals more and we'll see what roms are available when I'm bored with stock, MIUI looks awesome but very distant for an official release
