Great! Always usefull when you need to restore your device
Has anyone tested if any of these ROMs flash properly.. for me it would be the Dutchversion then... But I can not test right now can not have my phone broken down. Once Kaizer is out I am going to buy that one and then I could test, but would be nice to know if these dumped ROMs work
Unfortunately I do not know, I haven't even tested the UK version as I am not sure if it will work, however I did update the RUU.
Shame we cannot emulate the firmware install!
The T-Mob UK dumped ROM isn't quite right - the w'n'w home page doesn't work properly.
Minor thing but, one of the first things I tested
I dumped my friends ROM the other day. I'm currently working on building it and testing it - will let you know when it's done
Cheers,
Smiffy.
Hmmm...humble pie - lovely
Well, after flashing the ROM i dumped the other day, I had exactly the same thing with IE.
It took me about 3 seconds to realise it must be because the extROM had been flashed by one of the WM6 ROMs I had been using in the past.
As it turns out, this is the case so I can confirm that if you have the same issue, download the extROM dumo from the wiki (from this page) and delete the current contents of your extROM and copy the downloaded one back to it. Hard reset, and voila - everything back the way T-Mobile shipped (apart from Radio ROM, IPL\SPL etc...) but WTH ;-)
Smiffy.

Trapper,
I assume you mean how can you put the correct Extended ROM onto your device? If I understand this correctly, the ROMs mentioned in Jygar's first post are the original main ROM but the Extended ROM is in fact from a Windows Mobile 6 ROM (I do not believe that flashing a ROM will affect the Extended ROM - the problem is that the re-flashed (downgraded) WM5 ROM is starting the Extended ROM installation after the basic OS install (as normal) but that Extended ROM is still a WM6 one.
The page that is linked to includes many Extended ROMs from many countries and devices - one of them an original T-Mobile ROM (here) and if you were to unlock/unhide and mount your Extended ROM you would be able to delete the incorrect (WM6) ones and then paste in these original Extended ROM files.
The Extended ROM files are executed during a hard reset after the OS has been installed - details of how this works are within this forum. I am not sure that you need to do a hard reset but it all depends on whether you stopped the device completing a normal (complete) install. After a hard reset the device will start to execute the Extended ROM files/.cabs and if you stop that with a soft reset as soon as it starts then the device will re-boot with a basic WM build (with no service provider fixes/updates/customisations/settings)
If this is all explaining what you already know then sorry but your question posted is rather open... Hope this helps
ExtROM.nb attached Just put it into an NBH and flash
@tony.wheeler - What was the original radio version of your Vario II? I'm in the process of creating a complete upgrade to restore UK MDA Vario II's to their 'out of the box' state with the original ROMs (IPL, SPL, MainSplash, SubSplash, OS, Radio ExtROM)
Phil
eek, think it was 1.03?
[edit]Have done a search it appears it is 1.05!
only problem is this is HTC_BOOT 0106 and most ppl are now patched to 0108 so I would have thought we cannot downgrade our radio rom.
TBH 1.43 is the best radio rom out and i cannot say a bad word against it. I have only eva updated my radio rom and since the radio update have not had a problem with the origional t-mob os.
Hehe, yeah i found out it was 1.05 as well. Oh well, I'll use 1.07 in my NBH. I now have a complete ROM backup (IPL, SPL, GSM, OS, MainSplash, SubSplash, ExtROM) to revert back to should anything ever happen which means I would need to claim on the warranty.
Phil
The dutch rom seems to be in *.raw files. How can i open of re compile it?
jm012a9749 can you upload it?

I keep loosing connection with the 1.50 that came with the WM6 test ROM, and also falling down to GSM even though I'm in a good 3G reception area.
Didn't seem to notice these problems before. I was running Radio 1.48 onto of the old radio.

Any chance of you posting this backup ROM? There are many of us who would be very keen to have this as a safety net for when we have to return our Vario 2s under warranty.

I too am running with Radio 1.50, after a short-lived update to WM6. I have had no problems at all with 2g or 3g, steady as a rock.
I am trying to get TNT .20273 working on my G4, but my radio version is 2.30.11 and I heard this is why its not working correctly. I downloaded the T-Mobile 2.19.11, but I have Cingular...will this make a difference? Do I flash this like any other ROM? Do I need to flash this before or after I flash a new ROM?
Radio Rom is independent of any Rom/OS,it can be flashed to any device version or Rom/OS working on the phone,it has its own protocols (GSM) and doesn't include any IPL/SPL (Bootloaders) so it can easily and safely be flashed to any wizard device.
Secondly,as you have a G4 device and its CID locked,it can not be upgraded to any wm6 rom like TNT,unless you either upgrade through SoftSPL or HardSPL.
Thirdly, where have you heard, since you have radio version is 2.30.11 and its cause for not getting the phone upgraded to TNT Rom ? As I said above,Radio Rom has got nothing to do with ROM/OS.Yes! you can flash Radio Rom 2.19.11,it doesn't matter if you have a Cingular.
Wm6 Roms like TNT will certainly flash regardless of which version of Radio Rom you have at the present
Hi guys,
This forums are just great!
Is there any "recommended" radio version? I've heard there are some old ones but I just wonder if upgrading it would really make any difference about the phone's reception.
I've noticed there are now two ways to flash new ROMs, hard and soft SLP, which one is best? My phone is already SIM unlocked but I want to load Slim Diamond WM 6.1.
Thanks in advance for your comments and help.
Well I got TNT .20273 "working", but I was always getting missed calls and texts and whenever I would soft reset I would get like 10 cannot load blah blah file and I read somewere it was because the radio version I had. Plus I heard 2.19.11 was the best with no dropped calls and such.

First determine which version is your phone,G3 or G4,its very important, coz method for flashing a rom is altogether different for both the devices.
HardSPL and SoftSPL are solely meant to flash a G4 device and shud not be done for a G3 phone, likewise CID unlocking method for a G3 phone, through lokiwiz02b or WST_4.2.2 Tool, shud not be carried out on a G4 device.
You need to do alot of reading to understand all these methods,So..... get going!!! or else you might end up 'Bricking" your phone

ok so you said that. i'd like to say, i have a g3 with radio 02.25.11 and i'm fixin to use a multitude of different roms i've found here .. some with touch flow, others are this and that. but none of them say anything about radio roms or compatibility or dropped call count. so my question to you is, will this radio rom i have make a difference? am i going to have to change radio roms or no?
This is the G4 subforum
Radio 2.19.11 is recommended.
Thanks a lot zabardast_1!
I did the reading and the upgrade. Evertyhing went great and my wizard is now running WM 6.1 and working great.
I do have a follow up question though. I noticed there are different ROMs and the today screen looks different (the way the clock is shown, the icons available, etc).
Is there any way to change the way things look without changing the ROM?
Thanks again!
Hey all,
I'm a little confused as to what I need to do in order to flash a custom ROM onto my HD2. I heard that now since we have HardSPL 2 or HardSPL 3 out there, we don't need a gold card anymore. Is that correct?
Also, with HardSPL 2/3, does the application automatically detect what SPL version you have on your HD2, or does it just flash a HardSPL knowing that it'll be the correct version? My HD2 was brought from the UK, I believe it's the Euro version (512MB ROM).
Cheers,
IcedCube
hi, you will need HSPL to flash a cooked rom or a different radio. the new 3.14 OEM builds come with SPL 3.03 which will not work on vendor locked phones hence a goldcard image is needed to unlock these devices. hope thats simple enough.

what to do please help..
Good day sir,
First of al some important informations, if you go to install the latest stock ROM 3.14 it's important to remove HSPL first. (use HSPL2_RUN.exe and select a spl value.)
secondly, fore the moment there is no o2 UK 3.14 stock ROM out. so you need to use the GoldCard technique for upgrading your ROM to a 3.14 version.
Take a look here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=825397
I would personally recommend just loading HSPL3 and then just selecting on of the roms in the ROM Development section, as they usually integrate the new roms released from other providers with there rom.

It depends sir, even if you use a custom ROM build on stock ROM 3.14 it's recommended to install stock ROM 3.14 before installing this custom ROM's. And like mentioned before, stock ROM 3.14 isn't compatible with HSPL!

Thanks a lot for your response sir...
Can't i do that using hardspl..cause i have flashed my radio to 2.15..which is too not out yet for my O2 uk model...and this Gold card technique is a lil tough...also i read this..http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=8989286&postcount=30
This says this technique was used before hardspl..
Thanks for your help i really appreciate that..
Hi
I have a T Mobile UK HD2 which had HSPL 1.42 on and a custom ROM.
Today I have flashed to the last T Mobile UK stock ROM downloaded from the HTC website with my serial number. I flashed it using SD card method.
I would like to try and upgrade my phone to the latest 3.14 stock ROM, but the HTC site will not let me download this, saying it is not suitable for my phone.
Is there any 3.14 Stock ROM I could use on my phone, and if so should I flash through activesync or use the SD card method. My phone details are posted below, and thanks for any advice that can be given.
I have searched threads and read plenty but have been unable to find the answer.
I don't really want to use goldcard method etc to get a custom 3.14 installed.
ROM Version 1.72.110.4 (86525) WWE - 04/02/10
Radio - 2.07.51.22_2
SPL-1.66.0000 XE
Hello sir; fore the moment there isn't a 3.14 T-Mobile UK stock ROM available (like you discovered already).
But if you will, you can update it to a general 3.14 WWE stock ROM. (ex: WWE_3.14.405.2)
In this case you need to use the GoldCard technique.
PS, very important is to remove first HSPL!!
Or els you need to wait till HTC/T-mobile have released there stock ROM update.
Thanks, looks like I will wait then.
I surely have already removed HSPL when I flashed back to stock rom and now have a phone still under warranty?
I also guess there is no date for when HTC will relase a 3.14 ROM for T Mobile UK?

1) yes, when HSPL is bean removed all is okay for warranty.
2) No sir, there is no date know for the release of a T-Mobile 3.14 stock ROM.
That is a very good link and guide you have posted and which I previously did not see for goldcard. I would like to try the Artemis ROM, but have 2 questions.
Do the members linked kindly supply the code by PM?
I have a 2 Gbyte micro SD card, does this only have to remain in the phone for the flashing process then I can revert to my normal 8 gbyte micro SD card?
Thanks again for the advice and guide.

If you will use/install the Artemis stock ROM; first off all you need to use the GoldCard technique to upgrade your drivers to Stock 3.14
PS, read also the hole step by step guide create by oliverweidel Link on Artemis Thread
And if/when you contact oliverweidel friendly by PM I think he can helps you for a GoldCard code
And yes, the Goldcard on your 2GB SD is temporary, after installation of stock ROM you can used your traditional SD card.
thanks, I may try this tomorrow then. Have already downloaded the atremes rom, will also download the stock rom you have linked to.
no danger of bricking my phone with wrong radio? seems to be a lot of threads about this? as long as using stock rom then atremis rom should be OK?

Don't panic about the radio sir. you have a European device, and the link is a European stock ROM with radio integrated.
Thanks again, I have run PSAS and sent a PM hopefully to get the image file to allow me to prepare my micro SD card.
I will now download the 3.14 stock rom, and flash it onto the HD2 from storage vard using the power up/vol button - once this is completed then I can flash to Artemis using activesync?

Yes, by using SSPL_RUU read information here
no progress - it would appear the PM I thought I had sent was not sent, therefore I do not have the image file. Wondering if I do not have enough posts to send PM's or something?
Anyway off to run PSAS again and try PM again.
OK, I ran PSAS again, with a 2 Gbyte SD card, and the code I got was the same as the one shown on the tutorial, so I downloaded the file, renamed it to goldcard.img and wrote the flash file and PSAS said it was successul.
I now have to flash the 3.14 stock rom, unsure how best to proceed with this - am I right in thinking
1. connect phone with usb cable and ensure activesync is running
2. power off phone (sd card inserted and sim card removed)
3. power on holding down volume key and enter bootloader (1.66.0000)
4. check usb is shown on white screen
5. run as administrator the stock 3.14 rom and let the HTC update software flash the stock rom.
once this is successful follow tutorial to flash artemis rom.
edited to add found other tutorial thread and am now flashing the 3.14 stock rom using the sd card and leoimg.nbh method - hopefully soon will have artemis on the phone
thanks
thanks a l ot to all on forum - phone now has artemis rom onboard.
Cheers
All the best for 2011 - happy new year

My first question would be, what is so great about the 3.14 ROM compared to the 1.66 WWE or even the 1.72 TMOUK?
All I've read about is problems (even forgetting about the 3.14 + HSPL).
I suppose the only advantage is that you could use SSPL to change from 3.14TMOUK to 3.14WWE rather than use the GoldCArd method (at least that is what I think you can do).
On a silly note, I don't want to say that I've installed a pi ROM on my phone.

some bugs are bean fix on the 3.14 stock ROM (But I must admit there are some other settings who don't pleasure now some users.)
Stock ROM 3.14 have received lot of updates.
Manila 2018 (possibility of manila rotation)
New integrated radio 2.15.50.14
lot of program updates;
Speed
Stability
....
But to be honest I'm not a big fan of stock ROM; but to be honest the 3.14 is the almost the best.
The problem that you see (almost everywhere) is due by two problems:
- Peoples don't reed the installation proses.
- Peoples don't follow the installation proses.
