2003 se Ext rom - MDA II, XDA II, 2060 ROM Development

Need a non branded extended rom with no additional programs than the basics. I tryed geting one from the original qtejk rom but the programs are not compatible and after a soft reset it freezes when it starts to personalize. All rom makers put there idiot programs that we can add later but they just don't understand . Plz can anyone suply me a ext rom for 03se that will work good??

why not just unhide and unlock the ext rom and remove the stuff you dont want ?

I saw that in my rom but where do i go to remove them??? ANd i need a list of programs that are vital... I like wm03se but the fact that i can't find an extended rom like i did for wm03 kills me. In wm03 i used the original qtek ext rom and it worked like a charm.

Need help ! Uninstalling Ext ROM

 Please help me to uninstall the Ext ROM .
To many subgects on this forum . But no one explaning how
to do that step by step .
You cannot uninstall the Ext Rom as such....
but what you can do is use the Extended Rom Unlocker which can be easily found on this fourm to unlock this area. Remove the CAB files and then Hard Reset your device.... this will cause a reinstall but without the Ext Rom bits....
Of course you will lose all your data and anything else that you have installed.

 I spend more then one hour on the forum again .

It is very easy to search "extended rom unlock".
Reinstalling Ext ROM
So ... what about reinstalling Ext ROM .
Do I have to uninstall the previous one or not ?
Extended rom does not contain installed programs, it contains installers.
The files there will install programs whenever you do a hard reset.
These programs aren't always listed in the list of programs that can be uninstalled.
If you want some programs not installed, you have to change extrom . With the "extended rom unlocker". and then do a hard reset.
or "bake" your own ms_.nbf with ER2003EDIT and do a full upgrade (also NK & radio).
Afterwards don't do a restore from backup

backup without SD card

I want to upgrade my i-mate pocket pc to either wm2003se or wm2005. My problem is that I want to back up everything on my phone first but I do not have a memory card. Is there anyway to backup directly to my computer? If not, how can i find the correct operator code (cellcom in Israel) so I do not have anyproblems putting the new ROM on my phone?

Ext Rom

Is it necesary to update the phone with ext rom also?? Coz i read on the faq that the ext rom has preinstalled programs and i want a fresh new windows that will run smooth not a slow one with all kind of programs. Ive seen some roms that don't come with ext rom so thats why i ask this.
you can always unlock and unhide
the extented rom and remove all cab files you dont want
and hardreset
Ok i sorted it out but i have another dilemma: first i had wm5 with 128ram, then downgraded to wm3 where all the settings were fresh. After wm3 i updated to wm5 with 96 rom but i had the settings and themes from my old wm5 with 128 rom. I repeated the process and it still does the same. How can i get rid of the settings and get a fresh clean start???

Is there any reason to keep files from original extended rom on the extended rom?

I am able to install applications to the extended rom, and have updated to the second to latest Black Rom, with all that entails. I don't really know all that much about the extended rom, e.g it's alterability. But my question is: Can I safely (and simply) delete the files in the extended rom to reclaim space, assuming that I never ever want to run them again?
Thanks!

I don't know if the latest Black ROM puts files on the extended rom or not but generally it is safe to delete them to reclaim space. The main rider to this is that if the Rom installs from them when new then you won't get the customisations if you hard reset. This also isn't such a huge problem because if you hard reset you are also at the point of a cleam ROM install - so if you need the customisations again then re-install the rom and the ext rom will be re-written.
Generally, each time I install a new rom I first uninstall all programs and then delete everything off my ext-ROM. Then when the new rom is installed I unlock/unhide it and check what has been installed (if anything).

What happens to the Ext ROM when shelltool is used

Hello all,
Thanks to that make this site available to people like me.
I have a Cingular branded phone (IPL 2.25.0001) that is considering using the shelltool. But before I do I want to make sure I don't lose functionality. It is my understanding that the Ext ROM is untouchable even if you pay to have the CID lock removed. How does this affect the new ROM put on the phone? It is my understanding that there are register tweaks etc that are placed there by vendors?
Thanks in advance
seacoug
Hi there,
First of all, welcome
Now, the CID lock has nothing to do with the Ext Rom. The Ext Rom is sometimes part of a ROM. Shelltool only flashes OS part of the ROM, so your already existing ExtRom is not modified.
And yes, the vendors put there all the .cab and fixes needed (which might not be all the fixes there is )
