I have here a dead Swisscom XPA v1605 (identical to the Vodaphone v1605).
After power on it is stuck in flashing mode.
IPL 1.01
SPL 1.40.Olipro
Can not check the other stuff, because it is not accessible.
Trying many different stuff to unbrick the unit did not work because the unit seems to have a problem with its USB port. It seems to disable the USB port while attempting to flash the unit, because all flashing attempts returns a connection lost error message. he last attempt using a 2.11.255 ROM showed a freeze at the attempt to update GSM. At the same moment it lost the connection. Flashing using a SD card did not help also.
Is there something else I can try?
Is there really no help in this case available?
Can someone please help me?
Maybe try updating the OS only with SD Card method. Won't fix the radio (yet) but should get you past the bootloader screen. Then, we can try the next steps.
You may try to flash the offical ROM using SD card method. If it works, you may flash any other ROM using USB connection.
For flashing other ROMs, best would be to first extract NBH file from official ROM and then flash it by using RUUWrapper.exe and selecting Force_SPL option. This way, you wouldn't loose the warranty.
The Swisscom official ROM is available at :

How to flash a new ROM to your Wizard... a little tutorial!
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=310831
G4.1 Does you're device start normally (yes) or is it stuck on the three-colored bootloader screen (no)? YES... go to step G4.4, NO go to step G4.2
G4.2 Turn off you're device totaly. Remove the SD card and disconnect the USB cable from you're device. Turn on the device while holding the camera button. You will get into bootloader mode (3 colored screen). Connect the USB cable to the computer and you will see USB at the bottom of your screen above the left softkey (Activesync will not connect in bootloader mode, but you can flash from this screen!). go to G4.3
G4.3 Download wizard_love rom and flash it to your device. Your device should startup again after doing this. Go to G4.4.
G4.4 Is your device CID-unlocked (note: it's not the same as SIM-unlocked!)? YES... go to step G4.7, NO OR DON'T KNOW go to step G4.5. (note: CID-unlocking a G4 is only possible by paying for it at imei-check!)
G4.5 Download enable-rapi.zip. Transfer Cert_SPCS.cab and EnableRapi.cab to your phone. Run Cert_SPCS.cab FIRST and EnableRapi.cab SECOND. Turn your device off and on or wait 5 minutes before soft resetting. Done? Go to G4.6.
G4.6 Follow this great thread by the-equinoxe: [solution] G4 SoftSPL Flash any ROM to CID locked G4 [UPDATED] and load the softSPL on your device using his method. Make sure you take a G4 safe rom (see the thread for details). After the steps you'll have the rom of your choise on your device!
G4.7 You're reade to flash the AKU2, AKU3, WM6 rom of you're choise IF the rom DOESN'T contain IPL/SPL. AKU3 and WM6 roms normally don't contain IPL/SPL. If you want to flash an AKU2 rom, make sure you take the G4 version. If you get an error 300 (invalid update tool) while trying to flash your device look at this thread!
NOTE: If you tried to flash a G3 rom with IPL/SPL in the rom on a G4 you probably will have a bricked device! DON'T flash the new 3.08 and 3.09 IPL/SPL to your G4!
NOTE2: If you got problems flashing with softSPL: Follow this great thread by mun_rus: Solutuion found: how to flash any rom to CIDLOCKED DEVICE. If your device won't start after flashing you can use step G4.2 and G4.3 and try again. Also look at this thread by eddieitman: Faria G4 Step by step installer with instructions to make sure you did all the necessary steps!
thank you thank you very much
if say thank from now till the end of this years its not enough for u
i did that and folow this tremendus amount of instruction.it work again ican not believe my eye.....
now can i upgrade it wm6
do u have a link for wm6 for g4
thank again
As soon as you load SoftSPL or HardSPL into your G4 Wizard, you should be able to use any new WM6 ROM released in the "Wizard WM6" subforum.
Just double check the ROM does not have IPL and SPL in it, then you can go flashing with equipped RUU directly.
And...make sure you have your T-Mobile original ROM or Wizard ROM ready in case of any accident during flashing so you can always return to original WM5.
I have a G4 Wizard that iv been tryin to get a nice rom for every one iv tried (faria, blackdiamond,TNT ect.) dosent work it gets to 99% then says theres an error I just wanna know are there any G4 roms out there that will work on my phone or do I have to pay 20 bucks to unlock it?

All latest custom cooked Roms(Blackdiamond,NBD,TNT,XMr5...etc) are meant both for G3 and G4 devices, they all are safe for a G4 device, cuz they are not having any IPL/SPL in them, only those old Roms which have IPL/SPL included in it are not G4 safe Roms.
A G4 phone cannot be CID unlocked like a G3 phone to upgrade to latest wm6 Roms. There are different methods to upgrade a G4 phone. If you want upgrade to latest wm6 rom, read and do correctly the 'SoftSPL' or 'HardSPL' methods by 'the-equinoxe' in the G4 forum.
Cheers!

That's not true.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=332320
Works great, my SPL is 2.21.Olip...
zabardast is correct, HardSPL is NOT CID unlocked. It only tricks the RUU to allow flashing, but the CID is still there (you can use WST to verify that)
G4 Roms
The TNT.1933_TouchFlo_Wizard ROM works just fine on my T-Mobile MDA. I used SSL. It is a good idea to copy the extended ROM somewhere. To get my e-mail downloads to function properly, I had to run the T-Mobile mail notification app from EXTROM.
I also have had several others work, but this one is the closest to what I want in a ROM. I happen to use Transcriber a great deal and it is not in this ROM.

with my g4 i did the following.
1) download rom i wanted (latest tnt)
2) downloaded original wm5 rom and ran the updater (tmob in my case) = if you are starting from wm5 original rom then just hard reset/clear storage.
3) download and run wizard service tool (thanks mestrini) plug in your phone and wait for active sync to pick it up. Then in WST click enable rapi....
4) download and extract soft spl, then copy the nk.nbf from your chosen rom into the soft spl folder.
5) make sure your phone has plenty of charge and remove the sd card (not sure if taking the card out is nessacery but i do it just in case).
6) with the phone still connected run start-sspl which should show you a black "command promt" type screen for a minute or two then your phones screen will go white. after this the rom update utility will pop up and just follow the wizard.
soft spl is good because you dont have to mess with the phone too much.
the above is a brief run through of whats already available in various posts here so it should all work, but its always best to do your reading so you dont brick your phone.
Hello,
I hear nothing but great things about custom ROMS, especially DCD and would like to try one. I have spent the last few weeks reading all the threads located here on XDA-Developers and on PPCGeeks regarding upgrading an OEM Verizon XV6800 to a custom ROM.
Below are the instructions I have come up with. I would appreciate it if this wonderful community could provide any suggestions or corrections to my steps. Based on your responses I will create a finalized guide for other users to follow.
I have received very mixed results regarding the overall procedure. Some say you must first flash the Sprint ROM and then flash DCD (To upgrade the radio). Others say you can just flash radio 3.39 and then flash DCD 3.1.6. My below steps are going on the assumption you can just flash the radio 3.39 and then flash DCD 3.1.6.
Phone has
Software Version: 2.09.605.8 (I believe this is the ROM version)
Firmware Version: 1.30.60 (I believe this is the radio version)
I have doccumented my
NAM, SCM, ESN (Hex & Decimal) and MSID.
1. Backup everything
2. Connect the phone to the computer using USB cable and ensure it can establish an active sync connection.
3. While the phone is connected to the computer and running Windows Mobile 6.0 run titan_SPL_2.40-olipro.exe to unlock the phone.
4. Reboot the phone and put it in to bootloader mode (Hold down Power button, camera button and press the soft reset button with the stylus until the multi color bootloader screen appears).
5. While in bootloader mode flash the radio to 3.39
6. While in bootloader mode flash the DCD 3.1.6 ROM
7. After reboot install the Verizon carrier cab. Call verizon and let them know you have hard reset your phone so it can be re-authorized with their network.
everything looks good, what i would do though is flash the 3.39 sprint rom to get the radio. and you may not have to call verizon i just got a replacement phone and flashed up did the *22899 and everything worked with out having to call and get a a key.

another suggestion i've seen somewhere else is to turn the phone into flight mode prior to flashing... not sure if it works but would be interested to know
also: DO NOT FORGET to soft reset just beforethe customizations run (when you are finished flashing and the phone reboots itself for the first time..)... you do NOT want the sprint customizations to run, on your Verizon device.

if it's your first time you won't know when the sprint customizations are running. so just don't hit the screen or anything until AFTER you flash a DCD rom

I was in the exact same spot just a few weeks ago, flashing my XV6800 for the first time. I researched and prepared like you have and I think you're ready to pull the trigger.
My only advice is to use the SD method to flash the radio and OS ROMs. I wasn't able o connect via USB after upgrading the radio and the microSD method was incredibly easy and far faster than USB seemed.
Dialing *228 was all I needed after the process was complete, no new A-Key needed or manual entry of provisioning data.
Just remember, when in the process of flashing your phone, keep calm & carry on.
VX6800 upgrade procedures please
I too have read all the post on this and PPCGEEKS and have issues within myself. I start out with a high confidence level and after you get through a page or two of; yes, but do this instead ..... you are left with nothing but total confusion and contradictions. My confidence level is then well down the ladder.
I (we) would all like to hear from a VERIZON VX6800 owner (no sprinters please, sorry) who has actually done this with step by step instructions. Please don't assume we know anything, many like myself are knowledgeable in technical fields but not with PPC's.
This is my most serious concern. I ONLY have access to machines running Vista. I have heard that something, don't know what, will stop at 11% some people say not. What might stop and why? Ive also been told that there are new drivers for 'mobile device center' that fix this problem but no driver dates or version No's are posted anywhere. Any advice here would be helpfully also.
I know several folks who are also waiting for me (the guinea pig) to do this and they will follow.
Thanks for the time all have put into this effort.
All of the instructions and options for flashing are up-to-date in the Wiki.
I own and operate an xv6800, I used the methods listed in every sticky to flash my first time, never had a problem.
I have always used DCD's ROMS and used whatever he had posted in whatever thread for every ROM/kitchen. The man is thorough in putting the necessities in his threads.
Now I just flash whenever, no problems. I run 32 bit vista and xp on my machines and neither gives a headache.
The wiki is your guide to a successful upgrade. Study it.
Nonetheless, for those wanting VZW-specific instructions, here's how I upgraded my XV6800 to radio 3.39.10 and dcd's 3.1.2 a couple weeks ago.
I take no responsibility for anything you do to your device.
Code:
I. Upgrade bootloader
A. Establish an ActiveSync connection via USB
B. Execute Hard-SPL-MFG.exe to upgrade the bootloader to 2.40
[url]ftp://up.ppcgeeks.com/Titan/Users/ImCoKeMaN/roms/Hard-SPL-MFG.exe[/url]
Follow the steps in the command window closely - they are very clear
II. Format a microSD card for installing radio and OS ROMs
A. Using a card reader attached to your computer, format a microSD card into FAT32 with an allocation unit/cluster size of 1024
1. Open a command prompt and type
format ?: /FS:FAT32 /A:1024
where ? is the drive letter assigned to the microSD
III. Use microSD to install Radio ROM
A. Download radio 3.39.10
[url]http://rapidshare.com/files/113794877/radio339.rar[/url]
B. Un-rar
C. Copy RUU_signed.nbh to your microSD card
D. Rename RUU_signed.nbh to TITAIMG.nbh
E. Insert microSD card into phone
F. Force into bootloader by pressing POWER+CAMERA+RESET
G. Bootloader will load and begin loading the ROM on the microSD
F. When radio upgrade is complete, reset phone and force into bootloader
IV. Use microSD to install OS ROM
A. Download the OS ROM (e.g. dcd_titan_3.1.2)
B. OS ROM will be .exe file. Use WinRAR to extract files, one of which will have an .nbh extension
C. Copy *.nbh (e.g. dcd_titan_3.1.2.nbh) to your microSD card
D. Rename *.nbh to TITAIMG.nbh
E. Insert microSD card into phone
F. If not in bootloader, force into bootloader by pressing POWER+CAMERA+RESET
G. Bootloader will load and begin loading the ROM on the microSD
F. When OS upgrade is complete reset phone, eject the card, reset the phone
You will more than likely need your USB-headphone dongle/adapter that came with the phone.
After I upgraded my phone, resetting the phone caused the bootloader to appear instead of
loading the OS. For whatever reason, with the 11-pin USB dongle this doesn't happen
and the OS ROM boots without a problem.
V. Follow on screen instructions and allow customizations to run. Phone will reset when complete.
VI. Install Verizon carrier cab, reset when complete.
[url]http://www.lifesnotsogood.com/dcd1182/titan/carriers/dcd%20Titan%20Carrier%20-%20Verizon.cab[/url]
VI. Dial *228, reset when complete
VII. From your phone, browse to [url]http://ota.wsync.com/[/url] to download, install the XV6800 Over The Air sync client
After I upgraded the radio I wasn't able to load the stock OS and was unable to establish an ActiveSync connection via USB, thus was unable to use the RUU method. Using a card reader and microSD method to flash the new OS ROM saved my ass. I won't flash any other way now.

Can you explain this more? Are you saying everytime i reboot my phone i will need the USB/Headphone adapter plugged in? Or just the first boot?
Also, I dont have a SD reader. Can i just copy the files to my SD card with the SD in the phone and connected via USB?
Thanks,
Mitchell

For me, only about 1 in 3 reboots do NOT require the USB dongle. I have no idea why that is, I think it's an issue with the bootloader, but there are some threads on this board with more technical info. (I work in IT and carry a whole mess of cables in my bag, so it wasn't a huge concern of mine to tote the USB-headphone adapter around.)

Nope. You can read/write to the card but I don't think you can change the file system of the card while it's in the phone. Card readers are cheap, less than $20, and very handy to have.

Also, when getting the required info before i start i dont see a key for security when i do a ##778. Is this ok/normal for verizon?
Thanks again!

After the entire process was complete you are able to sync with the PC? Just not prior to doing the ROM update? Syncing is essential to me for backups etc.
Thanks for all the advice guys!!
wow, so i just remember i had a SD reader on my linux server. I went down and loaded up my VM of XP. Started to format my SD card and it blue screened and now I cant get my SD card to reconize in my computer or phone. I guess that a worthless piece of plastic now.. Ill try the USB method.

That was the same for me when I checked my EPST before upgrading. That's a good thing: you don't have an A-Key (security) now so you won't need one after flashing.

Correct. However, now when I sync I have to use the USB/Headphone dongle. I can also sync via Bluetooth.
I just want to say thank you to everyone. I was able to get DCD 3.1.6 running by flashing the Sprint ROM and then flashing DCD 3.1.6. The only problem I'm having is getting Radio 3.39 to load. It will get to 8% and then the phone reboots.
If anyone is near newport news VA and wouldnt mind helping me out with upgrading my 6800 let me know. Ill provide the beer
Hi all,
I have been reading through the variety of posts and videos. There is quite some info about soft and hard SPL, RUU, etc... A full 4h of reading and I still feel like I'm nowhere.
I find it hard to filter out the steps I need to undertake for a noob like me to flash my device.
The situation is as follows: Recently I won a P5500 16-keys French device which is branded (Belgian operator). I Want it unbranded with a regular dutch ROM 16-key flashed on it (I don't need any special "cooked" ROMS), I'll be glad enough when I get rid of this French. I'm not sure what steps I need to undertake to reach this and I certainly don't want to risk bricking it. So the fastest, safest way without unnecessary steps is what I look for
I found this ROM: Nike_Original_NLD_ROM_v1.31.404.09.exe
Am I correct if I say I need to first CID unlock my device and then just install this ROM by just running it when activesync is active? What CID unlock tool do I need, I tried some Kaiser program but that failed (by device froze).
Other info I can provide is this info that shows up when booting the device:
R 1.58.16.27
Any help is greatly appreciated! Thanks.
First of all you need to HardSPL your device, this will almost prevent you from bricking it, follow the instructions here
Second you need to CID unlock the device, this will allow you to flash ROMs from other than the network operators own use THIS and follow the instructions. This will also SIM unlock the device, so you can use any SIM card in it.
After that connect your phone to the PC via active Sync can run the Nike_Original_NLD_ROM_v1.31.404.09.exe follow the instructions onscreen.
THIS WILL DELETE ANY DATA STORED ON THE PHONE MEMORY. Storage cards and SIM cards are not effected.
lastly, the 'R 1.58.16.27' at boot is the Radio version on the phone, this is the low level driver/s that control the cellular radio, camera etc.because you are installing and original 'stock' ROM there should not be any need to update or change this. (1.58.16.27 is the latest official radio release from HTC for the NIKI100 other are either cooked for taken from other, similar devices)
