How To Hard-reset Atom Life? - iPAQ rw6828, XDA Atom Software Upgrading

hi. i want to hard reset my atom life. how can i do it?
do assist me. need it as soon as possible. thanks.

This is grabbed from another forum after a google search...
"It's normally press-n-hold the on/off button --> press the reset button.
When the green+red button command appears, let go of the on/off button and press the green n red button simultaneously.
This is the standard Atom series hard reset method. Not sure for Atom Life though"

First, Hold Power button and insert stylus into the reset hole
release power button and remove stylus. you should now see message on the screen saying about hard reset, press and hold both green and red button at the same time until. when it's done system will reboot itself.

what risk if when hard reset the batt getting low?

Hard reset normally takes less than 5 seconds to clear out your older settings. Though you better charge it before hard resetting.

hehe.. if the batt getting low and die . so how?

a.f.a.i.k, ther wont be any critical defects on ur mem-card n my docs.
anyway, hard-reset clears off the saved data in ur "my docs". so it doesnt matter anyway.
its better to avoid such situation wher u dont have much batt left, and still go do a hard-reset.
a hard-reset normally take onli like less than 4-5mins.
unlike flashing in new rom from dsuu mode or sd-flashing mode, wher its safe to keep a 70% lvl of batt b4 start flashing.

hm.. hold power on/off and reset ... i try twice fail.. how?

To hard reset.
Keep the Power On button pressed. Then put the stylus in the reset hole. Dont leave the power button till you see the hard reset screen.

This is the exact way. I've tried it so many times
1. Hold the RECORD button (the one near the camera button)
2. While RECORD button pressed, with your stylus, push the softreset button (the one at the bottom, in the hole)
3. Hold both button for about 5 seconds
4. Release ONLY the soft reset button first
5. Then the screen will display some hard reset sequence
6. Then you can securely release the RECORD button
Attention, those are the step by step. Missing one sequence, and it will be failed
But, after the hard reset menu apeared, i don't know which menu to select if i need to hard reset my atom life. Any help with this?

WM2003SE = soft reset is harder...

I found that soft reset is more difficult after upgrading my XDA2 to WM2003SE v2.06.00WWE...
it always failed on boot screen...
does anyone experience the same problem?
It's not fail but take longer time to boot up.
and why the bluetooth led is blinking on booting process?

No...it takes forever on the second boot screen and had to soft reset with stylus again and again and again...
PS: sometimes it's pretty fast to soft reset...
I have the same problem but since i uninstalled BT widcomm and disable Calligrapher on startup it only happens sometimes
i have the same problem.
workaround: turn phone off before softreset, or remove the simcard
Workaround 2 (works every time!):
I have the 'record' button assigned as the screen rotation button.
After pressing the soft reset, I press the 'record' button until the bluetooth light starts blinking. (roughly about 10 - 15 seconds).
Hi guys,
I have the same problem, some times it takes forever and i end up soft reseting several times.
Yesterday it got stucked on the loading splash screen and the only way to get it out was to go into the bootloader(1.03) and do a soft reset to load the bbot again. i was starting to freak out.
Otherwise it's BIG improvement over WK2003, much quicker.
P.S.:Have to try the record button trick.
Dear all,
i experienceed this long booting for awhile till i noticed it's due to the increasing size of the DB_notify_queue database.
use checknotify.exe to clear it every now and then (especially before soft reset) as clearnotify.exe doesn't work with SE
another tip is to remove stk.lnk from startup coz it forces waiting the SIM to be ready (about 5 sec)
Where can i find check notifY
damn! I Can't change/assign hardware my button with wm2003se...it only listed button1 in settings > button, where's my other buttons?
checknotify, clearnotify : http://www.scarybearsoftware.com/ppc_cn_overview.html
tip : put clearnotify in your extended rom

Something similar happened to me once after a hard-reset. The "Rotate Screen" option disappeared from the keyboard shortcut list AND from the Screen control panel.
Had to hard reset again to get it back, :?
Faster Soft Reset
Try this:
1. Remove "STK.ink" from "windows/startup" folder.
2. Copy radiooff.exe to "windows" folder, then create its shortcut to "windows/startup" folder.
3. Done
Note:
Don't turn off your radio when you want to reset, as this will force the radio to be turned on, which will very much slow down the soft reset.

hard reset on xda2

i cant hrd rest my xda 2 i have instaled w2005 i tired pressing the cam and power holding them and presing reset with stylus but that made a bootloader to apear i pressed on kltd i donnot wt nothing happened
I've got a problem with hard reset also - I'm pressing everything as described on picture: http://forum.xda-developers.com/files/hardreset.gif but it results only in soft reset and changing date in my XDA II
When you press as shown in the picture you need to Keep all of them pressed for between 5 and 10 seconds. then you have to peek through the darkened screen and select the modes as described and then click the big button in the middle to continue.

Hard Reset Verizon Touch Pro

I have a Verizon Touch Pro and the phone wont boot into windows. I tried this but it wont hard reset...
"With the device turned on, press and hold the VOLUME DOWN and CENTER buttons, then press the RESET button with the stylus tip.
Continue pressing the RESET, VOLUME DOWN and CENTER buttons until screen."
I called customer support they said only way to hard reset was thru windows - Clear Storage.
Anyone have any ideas.
I can get into the bootloader fine. Dont really feel like going through a replacement.
Nevermind, just found it.
Instructions from the user manual
1. Turn off the power.
2. Press and hold the ENTER (Center) key, and then press the POWER key.
3. Release the POWER key, but continue pressing the ENTER key until you see the following message on
the screen.....
Cant believe a tier 2 tech at verizon couldnt find this.

actually i work for verizon and i bought the touchpro the first day it was released and I had to do a hard reset shortly after i received it because of all the tinkering i was doing with it. anyways, the only way to hard reset the xv6850 is to do the clear storage process. the method of holding down the buttons and doing a soft reset WILL NOT WORK on the verizon version. yes and i am very aware of the idiocy that is our technical staff. anyways hope this helps.
I'm trying to figure something out and I don't yet own a touch pro-the answer may effect my buying.
After you preform a hard reset and go through the screen calibration, does the ROM install any software? I mean does it give you an auto prompt that says something like customizing your device? If you've ever hard reset a xv6800 or used a custom UC rom you'll know what I mean.
I have some theories about making the device faster or removing some stuff based on the way our xv6800 was. Mnasr87, do you know the contents of the Verizon extROM?

i'm sorry i don't know what the contents of the extROM is but i do know that it does go through the customization screen after doing a hard reset. i hope that helps in the process of hacking the touch pro pm me if you come up with anything, tc.
open clear storage in settings/systems and enter 1 2 3 4
it will restore to the original rom

Thanks, I posted a thread about bypassing customizations to possibly speed up the verizon rom. Usually Verizon has a couple cabs that monitor registry changes and slow things down. But if you bypass the customizations I still don't know what else there is missing (good and bad.)
But knowing I can bypass customizations and that there are now custom roms is a good thing! Now, I need to start begging my parents.

this works for the xv6850, the verizon touch pro. but technically you should simply tap the power button and not hold it down too long and don't let go of the center button until you see the hard reset screen.

This was quick easy and painless. Thank you. I was trying to do it the other way listed online which was not working.
That was phone upside down hold volume down press the enter key and then hold down the reset button. This was almost impossible to do with only 2 hands lol. Also it wouldn't work.
when the phone is off, jus hold center and volume down then hold power. make sure there all being held down.
Out of all methods listed, the only two that work for my Verizon XV6850 are hold the center button and reset button, and of course the clear storage icon in system settings. Just tried them all. The other ones just bring up a screen for completely powering off the device.

This is also the ONLY way my Verizon TP hard resets as well. However, I was flashing my friends vzw TP and his won't do it any way but the clear storage way? What gives? Whats causing the difference?
Just as a couple of the guys said before..... For a Verizon Touch Pro not sure about anything else..... but a simple power off...... press and hold the center button... power up and BAM!
all that holding the volume button down....press the reset.... double tapping is totally wrong.....
What in the world is the Center button?
also just wondering if there is another way to HR besides going to settings and clear storage does it do anything different?
hard resetting on Verizon
i think that they disable the way with the down arrow and the other stuff i think that the only way that you can do it on a Verizon phone is by doing it with the whole clear memory thing and 1234 or if you can find a rom that works and so far i have only found one rom that see to works right . and also the one in the manual doesn't seem to work either
I found this thread looking to hard reset my xv6850. Tried everything, but only one method worked for me. I figured I would post here for others trying to hard reset:
with the power on
hold down the center button
press the reset button
btw ... rom ver 1.08.605.4

How to soft reset Toshiba TG01.

How do I soft reset Toshiba TG01. Tried searching with my limited skills but dint get anything.
Try to search in user manual (page 22)
1. "RESET" button under back cover or
2. Press & hold power key for 15 seconds or
3. By software like that.
Thanks a lot...
Should have checked the manual. Most basic thing. With the convenience of internet we get lazy to check the old stuff.
There are a few ways of soft resetting the TG01.
1st you can use the softreset you find in programs like SPB mobile shell and Quickmenu
2nd you can use the soft reset button located under the battery cover.
or 3rd you can press and hold the power button. If the phone has locked up, I find holding the power button in for a couple of minutes turns the phone off, if its not locked up a power off window should pop up on screen.
If you meant "hard reset" then thats a different matter and I think a thread already exists for that.
You can also soft reset by removing the battery
I'm surprised that nobody has mentioned:
1) Remove the battery.
2) Count to 10.
3) Replace the battery.

If you add the attached shortcut to your device (can be placed where you line, but suggest in ..\windows\start menu) this will allow you to simply tap to achieve exactly the same effect as pressing and holding the Power button. When the device has powered off, then simply press Power to restart; that is a Soft Reset.
View attachment PowerOffHint.zip
I use this app, which is also skinable. Loads of skins available to match your theme.
To avoid to have to remove the back cover when TG01 is blocked, I made a little hole in the back cover!
keep hold vol up +camera and power button and then follow instruction on your phone.... u ll loose all your data on phone.
method 1
put it in the oven for 20 mins, take it out, throw it at a wall. job done thats a soft reset.
method 2

Slight confusion here.... that is a HARD reset. And as stated will loose all installed apps, settings and data (other than data on uSD Card).

Screen doesn't turn off

Hi,
Just swapped my note to a Lumia. Running 12070.
I got this issue that the screen don't turn itself off when i leave the phone alone.
The time is set to one minute but nothing happens after that. If i reboot the phone it will work a couple of times as usual, but then after a bit it is the same again.
I have done several factory resets withot any luck. Btw there is something really strange with the factory reset. When i start the phone up after the reset it remembers my Nokia account name? How could that be so? It's like the reset isn't quite resetting everything.
Any ideas?
Thanks.
EDIT:
*facepalm to myself* found the error...
The camera button was half pressed down by the softcover. Now the screen functions normally
But the mystery with remembering my Nokia account after factory reset is still a big ???
soft reset with hardware button, or hard reset with phone menu?
if you really want to hard reset it, try this, hardware method:
presse volume down+power+camera 5 sec together, wait the vibration.
then stop pressing only power button but keep pressure on volume - and camera, wait reboot
tell us
