It's not compatible for sure. S200 it's not an UMTS device.
No its not u cant use Videocall u can only use Edge internet connectivity and VOIP over 3G..........
Is it possible to use as a BroadBand (high speed) internet provider? For example, connect with notebook and use as internet modem, but in Broadband mode ... **** sorry for my bad English ...

yes, you can connect and use it as a "broadband" modem however the "broadband" will be limited to the speed your mobile telco can provide at EGPRS/GPRS speeds.
too bad our prophets are not 3g enabled....

hey
this is a really beginner question but what is GSM?
i know that gprs...allows you to get on to full internet
and
u know that wap..allows you to get on to black and white internet...
but i have no idea about GSM.....does any one know?
thanks
jay
Hi PROPHETOR,
GSM is the standard for the voice calls you make in the UK and some of (if not all) of Europe.
You can also use GSM to connect to the internet. But this is pay by minute and not by the KB like GPRS. Connecting to the internet using GPRS and GSM are very similar apart from billing. Unless you are feeling rich I would not suggest using GSM to connect to the internet as it can work out very costly.
Hope this helps.
Gil.
also if you use GSM modem connection to an ISP
i believe that it's max 9600baud at least that how it were
when i looked into it and it's pretty expensive
oh right......
thanks guys
jay
I am almost ready to try a custom ROM and flash the new radio, etc but...I depend entirely on my PPC6800 (I have Alltel service) for high speed data thru tethering to my MacBook and our home computer. I'm sure I can work thru any bugs with Internet Sharing on our family Windows XP box but does anybody have any experience/issues with USBModem (which I currently use) and the new radio when tethering to a Mac? If it doesn't work I'm screwed. Thanks for any help.
Stay away from 3.27 for now if you need data services...

I can't remember the speeds (at work right now) but I tested it on a website and they weren't bad. I have Alltel coverage in West Michigan and its by far the best service going. I live in the sticks and there are NO high speed internet services available other than satellite and dial-up. We have dial-up and it sucks! Family uses my phone and data plan rather than dial-up or ridiculously priced satellite.

idk but my internet sharing works fine
I updated my 10a and got everything working. Edge and hsdpa work flawlessly but just noticed that if there is no hsdpa available, i only get edge, no 3G. I read that others had same issue but how can be possible to have H but not 3G? And in any case, is there a way to solve the problem and have 3G working?
Cheers
I already updated my x10a but it changes to x10i... and i dont have 3g or hdspa... what is the firmware that do you use?
I used e10a FW.....and i guess you used the same.
BTW: maybe you don't have hsdpa because you don't have coverage.....do you have EDGE?
yes, i have edge, but how i can confirm if i have hdspa??, anyway... in the phone information it's appear lika e10i.... i used the the firmware posted by bin4ary with the flashtool....
hsdpa depends of area; now where i am there is no hsdpa so i've got only E.
I flashed same way as yours with bin4ry tool and FW.
then if I have HSDPA, I have no 3g?
Because before my xperia flash, it could use 3G.
Hsdpa is just a faster version of 3g. I think all that's changed is that 1.6 just always reported "3g" whereas now 2.1 tells you when it's getting "H" bandwidth
So, from slowest to fastest it's:
G: GPRS : ~40k/s
E: EDGE : ~200k/s
3G: UTMS : ~384k/s
H: HSDPA : Faster! ( meg/s depending on your network)
Anyways, if in your country you need to use american's 3g bands, then you cant connect to 3g with a e10i firmware. You will need to wait for a 2.1 e10a firm to recover 3g bands.
Im in the same situation
uhm.....as far as i have hsdpa i think i'll stuck on 10i; i'm able to make perfect calls with sip client even with edge so i guess i'm not going into reflash and reinstall all my apps....

i tested both but didn't like sipdroid and 3cx crashes quite often. Now i'm using csipsimple and i think it's the best and most responsive.
If there any software like "3G Unrestrictor" on iPhone for Android, which can let other software think the 3G network is WIFI?
I have a very very very slow wifi network at home, and I want to use the faster 3G to make downloads in Copilot Live. However, Copilot require wifi to download.
Be thankful you are not with AT&T, cos' no matter how slow your dial up.........man on horse with long trumpet and man purse would be faster!

When you say slow internet connection, do you mean via WiFi or via your data plan? And if data connection, is it because you're keeping the phone in 2G (EDGE) mode instead of 3G/H+ ?
If its WiFi, it has nothing to do with your modem.
Thank you for answering!
I have checked it up and I use 3g network and its data connection. Any other suggestion what the problem could be?

Ah okay.. If you've just installed the firmware, I'd suggest you give the modem some time to settle down. Maybe in a day or two if you dont get better reception, you could try looking for your region's modem HERE and flash that via Odin.
It has a list of various regions firmwares modems et al. Nordic countries seem to have LQ6, LPX,LPW and maybe a few more.
I'm no expert in firmwares and modems..so maybe you could check that thread if someone in the same region has a modem that works well there.
Good luck
