[Q] Sproof 3G as Wifi - Atrix 4G Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

If there any software like "3G Unrestrictor" on iPhone for Android, which can let other software think the 3G network is WIFI?
I have a very very very slow wifi network at home, and I want to use the faster 3G to make downloads in Copilot Live. However, Copilot require wifi to download.

Be thankful you are not with AT&T, cos' no matter how slow your dial up.........man on horse with long trumpet and man purse would be faster!

Hero cant see ad-hoc wifi networks

guys
my Hero cant see ad-hoc wifi networks. i am running modac's latest rom and latest radio. all ny nokias and samsungs can use this ad hoc network but only htc hero cant. any ideas? cheers
take a look at this
http://code.google.com/p/android-wifi-tether/
Tethering is using your data plan for the mobile to connect your laptop to the internet. This is great if you have a good dataplan.
I think he wants to do the oposite : use his landline (dialup, adsl, officelan, whatever) to connect his Hero to the internet. This is usefull when abroad, in many hotels you only have a wired internet connection to avoid "stealing" bandwidth.
I tried to figure it out last month when I was in the US, but there is only very limited information available for this. I couldn't get it to work.

exactly...................
Have a look at this thread :

But as I said, I could not get it to work myself. And it requires rooting, what I am not fond off, I don't want to brick my expensive phone.

3G Compared to WiFi...

I Understand that WiFi is Quicker than 3G but lately is been really Noticeable! 3G has been Really Slow... Anyone else having Horrible Connect time on 3G?
It almost sounds like you don't know what you mean when you're tossing the term WiFi around lol.
My 3g is faster than my WiFi. God damned 14.4 dial up in my house. (Lolz. JK)
I haven't noticed 3g being slower significantly. It's up and down, but not more than normal.

In What way? I'm Not a Noob...
I'm Simply Asking if it's just me and my phones location or if Anyone else is Having the Same Problem?
3g speeds will fluctuate and there isnt a real good way to tell if they are affected greatly outside of personal experience, we can't tell you if something is affecting your local tower, only you can
your addition of the wifi comment is why you were questioned, if you were asking simply about the 3g speeds then you bringing up the statement about wifi is extraneous and unnecessary

Well with this added information, you seem to be comparing WiFi speeds and 3G speeds at various locations. Do you know what WiFi is? It is independent of your carrier's network and depending on your 3G speeds (actually, probably not right now due to ****ty network speeds on Sprint) that a local WiFi connection will always be a lot faster.
Basically what I got from you is that your WiFi is faster than your 3G. I would say, duh.
I'm having so many issues, I've escalated to a Director level and the ***** Kathy Ortega won't do ****... **** SPRINT!

I Understand All That man... But Usually my Wifi speed Isn't Light Years Faster then 3G but Lately it Is! I keep seeing commercials about companies Slowing Down Speeds I'm Wondering if that could be the case?
There are a few threads about really slow 3g speeds. So I wouldn't say its just you.

Xperia S on Tmobile USA

I know that the Xperia S 3G cannot work on Tmboile but I am stuck in a 2 year contract with them that started fairly recently (due to certain family ciorcumstance).
I was wondering if there were some work arounds to get 3G speeds on the phone via Tmboile?
Is there a rom I can download or software that will enable my phone to work with Tmboile's 3g network? Perhaps some type of bootloader?
If not, what about wifi hotspots? Can I by a wifi hotspot and take it with me wherever i go in order to accesss the internet on my xperia via Tmobile? If so, how much does a wifi hotspot cost, and is it a monthly plan?
Would 2G work on the phone with Tmboile? If so, can I still stay connected to the internet 24/7 and get RSS feeds, news, surf the web, emails, etc etc by using the broweser on the Xperia S? Do i need a data plan to make 2G work via Tmboile?
Your help is very appreciated.
This thread might help: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1539415&page=3
From what I understand, the Xperia S will not work on T-Mobile's 3G but 2G only.
However, AT&T 3G seems to work on this device with some tweaks (which I have no idea what to do).
I also have T-Mobile and I absolutely love the S' design. I might have to move to AT&T...

"Download Booster" that uses 4g and wifi simultaneously

Hey everybody. I'm thinking of buying this tablet but I first want to know if it can use wifi and 4g at the same time, like the Download Booster feature on recent Samsung phones. This is a big deal for me as my internet connection is very poor (wifi signal is fine so things stay connected but won't load) and I want to smooth things out by using a 4g SIM. I know that I could switch between wifi and 4g when the pages aren't loading, but I want it to happen seamlessly. Thanks

I'm not 100% sure, but it seems that feature is not implemeted in Sony ROM yet.

You can leave both of them on, and tablet would decide which one to use. However you can't mix them together like Samsung does, that'd need a special piece of software to do that, just as @Rootk1t mentioned

wifi calling issues

So I am on t-mobile, and I also have one of the routers provided to me by t-mobile (I believe it's an Asus) , and I have noticed recently that my wifi calling has been sucking big time. It cuts in and out and says I need to connect to a wifi network, when I am connected. It's like it doesn't notice that there is a wifi connection. Anyone have suggestions as to what might help?
What is your isp bandwidth (down/up)?

100 down 20 up
WiFi calling on Android is hit and miss. I wish it was as stable as Blackberry UMA calling.
I tried the old turn it on and off again on the modem and router and it seems to have helped quite a bit.
Unfortunately, I have this issue for a quite while. Funny thing wifi calling works smoothly on pixel or essential phone!
How old is the router?
The router's WiFi radio maybe showing its age by being intermittent with its throughput's strength and/or signal's strength.
Try with newer router or access point. If there is a coffee shop with very good throughput strength (this is most important) you can do a test with that hotspot.
