i run the utility and when in it starts to do the update the phone will reboot.
any suggestions on what to do.
yeah....you are explaining very little there. What utility and what are you doing? Vista 32 or 64?
Have you read the Wiki with and where in the instructions are you stuck?
can you please tell me how to check which one im running i jus got the pc im use to xp.
its 32 im trying do the new offical 6.1 rom for the mogul and the touch
any help i keep getting invalid command.

i think no you must do it with xp
I did a success upgrade to WM6 on my Prophet with Windows Vista with Sync Center a couple of days ago.
Vista is supported for upgrade in the official rom .
The first time I did an upgrade to a PDAViet rom it was successful in vista. I tried on vista 32
On Vista x32 it's possible with some focus but on vista x64 forget. I'm use vista x64 and when I wont install new wm6 i am going on windows XP!
under vista 32bit it is possible, but not under vista 64bit. afaik some of the flash tools are 16bit applications and these don't work on a 64bit OS.
I have vista ultimate build 6000 32bit i tried the vista upgrade guide on this site but still my RUU crashes..................
something which can help but with without any warranty:
install vmware and set up a virtual windows xp machine on your vista system.
the newest vmware allows to intercept all new plugged-in usb devices to let them appear within the vmware.
with this i could connect my prophet to activesync within that VM.
but it always aborted the flash procedure at 80%

I cann't explain, but some ROM do and others don't. For instance a have a NVID RUU that works well, but the famous Step 1 files from PDAViet an Mobis don't work at all.
it never worked with me, am using Vista Ultimate 32 bit and there is something mentioned on www.mahmood1.com about having to change a driver and restart a service, but no luck at all....i also tried VMware and i could only use step1 but Step2 did not even start!!

In my experience, Step 2 is no problem under Vista, but I can't get step 1 done. Not even with the drivertrick. An other NVID Ruu worked though.
I have no experience or knowledge of VMware you mentioned... what (and where) is that?
I have Vista ULTIMATE X64. I cant do nothing... Looks like stuff working only on XP.

not that I know off, would be a breakthrough. I figured out (just by trying) that the RUU is not the problem itself, its the nb file that isn't always compatible. If I find more solid an workable information/solution ofcourse I let it know.
I have been trying to update my 8525 using my vista computer but it never worksi do have a xp but i dont feel like going all this work when i can just use my vista computer?

search the forum for vista drivers, I always go to BOTTLOADER mode before I flash a ROM, try it.
use the search, use the WIKI.
Are you running Windows Mobile Device Center 6.1?
i havnt had to bother playing around with drivers after a clean install of Vista and latest version of WMDC.
I've been able to flash directly from RUU, while phone is in Windows Mobile.
I'm running Vista and I have no trouble upgrading my ROM.
But I have installed the latest Windows Mobile Device Centre upgrade. Before that it wouldn't work properly.
You should be able to get it via the Windows Update page (optional software, I think).
If not, wait till the end of the month when SP1 is released, and it should be included in that.
Anyway of doing this?

Thank you soooooooo much!!! I have been going CRAZY trying to update my ROM while in bootloader mode. (I could never get it to work that way.) I was too scared to try it while in Windows Mobile mode. Hello @ all. I'm new here and my English is not that good that it should be, so please excuse my mistakes.
I have got a problem I want to install a new ROM on my PDA Phone (XDA Wiza200 G4). I started with this HardSPL. The winwo popped up i pressed "Check DOC", than i got an white screen on my Phone. After this the Tutorial is starting, when I agree to all the questions, the prog should install this SoftSPL, right? But then i am always getting an ERROR, Vista says that this prog is not working normal, and vista is searching for an solution. At the end Vista is closing the Prog and all the Installation is ****.
I am hoping you can understand my Problem and give me an solutuon. Thanks
WinXP is highly recommended,Vista still has problems.You better try it on WinXP.HardSPL will only get installed on WinXP.

right click on the ruuupdate.exe file and click properties then click on the compatability tab and click run this program in compatability mode for xp sp2 and make sure the run as administrator tab is ticked too.
Works great for me and i have vista ultimate sp1 and i have had no problem installing roms. I would also enter bootloader mode manually before flashing, i do because certain roms come back with a 260 connection error
hi...im a new owner to atom exec and i want to change my ROM but im having troubles with it...whenever i start the update process,after a while it will pop up a message box saying that "no download target found!"...what does this mean???hopefully someone here can guide me through it...

Exactly, I noticed another post where the same issue was occurring.
To bypass this I booted up an XP virtual machine, installed ActiveSync 4.1, connected the phone to the VM (virtual machine) and then ran the update from there.
So far so good.

have you tried running it in XP Mode? i'm not sure if that works though. I usually flash mine with Windows 7 running XP in VMWare, works every time!
