I am wondering if anyone would have an idea why i am getting this error message - something like: "cannot DL contacts to phone, not enough memory. close some programs and try again" - when i try to sync to my outlook info from my company's exchange server thru activesync.
I am pretty sure i have all the server info correct because i had it wrong before and it wasn't getting this far as to TRY and DL the info. Now it connects and tries but it is stopping before it gets any. I know it actually is seeing my info b/c it says which specific contact it stopped on. This is a pretty fresh phone with plenty of storage memory and nothing running in the background to prompt this type of error message.
Any ideas?
wow--this is a new one
Have you gone into the start-settings--system--memory, and looked at what it says for free storage?
jtg
Have you tried completely deleting the server from activesync (not just changing the settings), then going to Add Server Source, and putting it back in? Also, how much free memory do you have when you're trying to sync?
Problem Solved
Thanks for the suggestions.
The solution after much trial and error came from several corrupt contacts in the outlook server. I removed each one that caused it to fail one by one, and finally, SUCCESS! Just needed to try every possible option

Hi guys,
I have a problem with e-mail.
I set for my needs to delete the mail server when downloaded to the computer while leaving it there when the exhaust from your handheld and so far we all ok.
Since I installed the 3.14 rom but every time I get mail-sending all the IMAP4 or POP3 account, be it when I get sent from your handheld-all I synchronize with the server status, in the sense that if I have previously downloaded mail pc from the server and then I have nothing, I accessed from the handheld are also deleted the mail that I had previously on the phone, this is not happening to me with 1.66.
I would also keep the old mail on your handheld while downloading everything from the server. first it was so! is it possible?
Another problem is then sent mail ... I find no trace despite the option of saving is active.
Thanks!
I have tried to get this to work periodically since I got the phone in March with no success. I have followed the instructions to the letter and been onto customer services and still no joy!
Once you are logged in to SE sync on phone and go to "Account and sync settings" and then select "Account Settings" does your correct username and password appear in the box? I get a random selection of letters as my username everytime. Can someone check whether their correct details are shown?
Then if I click on "Contacts" there is another place to enter a username and password which doesnt get mentioned on any instructions I have seen! DO you have this filled in?
When I try and sync the arrows "spin" but nothing gets uploaded to teh website....any ideas?!
I used SE sync briefly, but quickly switched to google sync.. just seemed a richer product.. can't remember having any problems though..
I think the problem is that my contacts are not stored on my memory card. I have tried importing them from SIM card but it doesnt make any difference. Is there anyway of telling where your phonebook is getting the contacts from? I now believe that my phone is actually synching but it has no contacts to sync!
Any one has any ideas? I was looking at this thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=863166 and it shows how to get high-res pictures sync to the phone without losing quality (low-res blurry pictures) for the Contacts. But it has to be done through SE Sync. Would appreciate if someone can post their direction. Tks
have some issues whit SE sync i setup the account on my phone did step bye step the setup but i keep getting cant sync,,, chech the account and on users name it change the user name,,, i dunnot understan,,, i redo the input on the user and pass info and nothing
any ideas
It's normal for the user account and password to differ between the phone and the SE website.

I first updated my Streak to the official 2.2 Dell update via QDL and then the OTA to get it to the 318 build. With that I was able to connect to my company's exchange server.
Then my internal SD died.
I replaced the internal SD with a 6Gb class 4 SD and my phone is up and running again. But it won't connect to the Exchange Server. I kept getting "Cannot Connect to Exchange Server"
Over the course of trying to make it work, I've allowed full access to read/write the internal SD card, upgraded my OEM version from 305 to 318 to match the Baseband version and now I'm DJ_Steves OEM version. All in an effort to get the Exchange to work again.
A google search reveals a lot of Android phones with this same problem, and some of the other phone platforms have an update.zip to fix the Exchange issue. They don't work for the Streak.
I'm aware of third party apps such as Touchdown and others but they don't appear to push the mail to the phone, they query the server every so often. I need the mail pushed to the phone.
I think the problem is that the updated kernel or OEM or baseband (not really sure where those options reside) isn't allowing my work exchange server to take over certain security features of the phone. For example, before it would let me sync before I had to agree to let the Exchange server take over some security features and then set a password. It isn't even prompting me to do that this time, and I think that is where the failure is.
I've searched on here and other boards for a fix and not found one that will work for the Streak. I also can't seem to find a setting that will allow this to happen. Is there a way to either enable the control of some phone security measures or to trick the exchange server into thinking that it is doing so? Without doing this I think I will always fail to connect to my work's email exchange server. Because of my bigger internal card I'm somewhat limited on just helter-skelter flashing other ROMs to the phone to see if it will work.
Sorry the post is so long.
settings, manage applications, email, clear data
I have two "emails" listed and one "email policy" All selections are greyed out on all of them. Can't uninstall, clear cache, nothing.
Edit: shutdown/reboot gives me access to clear data on one of the emails. Did that, reinput settings, still couldn't connect. Cleared data again, shutdown/reboot, reinput settings. I still can't connect to the exchange server. Same exact behavior
has your mailserver been recently upgraded to exchange 2010?
I'm not sure. I know if I access email from a non-company computer through either firefox or IE, it still says Exchange 2003
Touchdown pushes mail immediately... I get exchange mail on my dell streak 2.2 (318) before my work computer gets it. Use this link to download touchdown with on demand sync. (for registered users only)

Maybe I had the wrong version of touchdown then. I uninstalled it, since it was only checking every 15 minutes and put on moxier mail which does have push capability, and I like the interface better than touchdown.
What specific touchdown is that? I only had the free one, because I didn't want to pay for it until I could prove it did what I wanted.
I'd really just rather fix the native exchange server. Seems really silly that we have to use a 3rd party app for something that this 2.2 was supposed to (and, in my case did) natively.
Hi,
I'm having trouble getting the G Tablet to connect to exchange. Went the manual mode, put in my username (with and without domain name) and email address (they're different) and the server. Chose ActiveSync, after "Checking incoming server settings..." i got error about authentication failed. I checked the credentials (owa & iphone are working fine using the same credentials), played with all the ssl options but still not connecting. Can anyone point me in the right direction?
Thanks
Well, the bad news is that I can't help you.... yet. The good news is that my gtablet arrives today, and one of the first things I'll be doing is setting up exchange! I'll report back.
You say that you have tried all the SSL options, but for me to get it to work I had to not use any SSL (Even though we have SSL on the mail server).
Also, for username I had to put domain\username, otherwise it wouldn't work. Maybe search for another exchange clien and see if you can log in using that?

I also tried it without any SSL and did use domain\username to no avail. I put in a ticket with my school but haven't received any reply, not sure if there's anything they can do since it works fine on iphone/ipad.
I would try another client. Touchdown has the most features and flexibility of all the exchange clients for mobiles. It also has a free trial.
is it your own exchange server, or a corporate?
I know on our system, we have to use an external webserver for any device that isn't our corporate laptop. If you are trying to use the same one as your PC, it might not work as the MAC won't be accepted by the actual server.
Also, if you have a blackberry, you CAN'T use the exchange settings from that either as there is an intermediary server for BBS.
Check with your IT folks....my guess is that there is something like
ext.yourcompany.com for the server.

ETA: Workaround: take the SD card and SIM out during setup.
Hi all, my spouse received their Pro1X today (stock ROM). The build quality seems excellent, and they're super pumped about the keyboard and excited to make it their primary device. However, they immediately ran into an issue: they can't log into their Google account, either during first-boot or afterwards. Wi-Fi connects and we can load web sites in Chrome, but the Google login flow gives them the old "there was a problem communicating with google's servers" error.
We tried a few different ways of adding the account, did a factory reset, and even Google's "DisplayUnlockCaptcha" tool. Any thoughts on what might be going on? We can log into the account in a browser tab, but any attempt to add the account to the phone fails. We tried checking for Android system updates and got "updates are temporarily unavailable please try again later".
Anyone have any suggestions? Thanks in advance.
