Hello all. I am a current Sprint Mogul user patiently waiting the Touch Pro like everyone else. I have an individual who is interested in buying my Mogul when I upgrade, but he is on the Verizon network. Would the Mogul work on Verizon's network? Would I have to use a custom rom and the verizon carrier cab file, or would a factory verizon rom work??
Thank you all for your help.

Short answer yes it will work with a custom rom, cab and some other requirements. Check the link in the above post, search for my post somewhere at the bottom of the first page.

My apologies if this has been covered....I searched a bit but didn't find the answer.
My friend has a Mogul he got from sprint. He'd like to sell it to me for $75.
I wonder. If I use DCD kitchen, load the verizon radio, DCD ROM, then the verizon Carrier cab......would it work?
Thanks,
Matt

I don't believe so. The radio in the sprint phone is GSM and the radio in the Verizon phone is CDMA.
Edit: I am incorrect. Sprint is CDMA and Verizon is CDMA... so I'm guessing that it could be possible. I have yet to test this though.
The answer is yes and no.
Yes, it is the exact same hardware, and therefore you can flash a custom rom/radio and install the verizon carrier cab leaving you with an xv6800 with a mogul casing.
The only issue is getting Verizon to activate it on their network, as it has a Sprint ESN. In the past, they were very strict about not allowing any non-Verizon ESN's in their database, though I've heard RUMORS that they've eased up a bit on it due to their "Open Network" campaign.
Honestly, it's a crapshoot, but if you can get Verizon Support to activate it, then it would work perfectly.

I heard somewhere that verizon has a new policy to support any phone on their network, but they also call their data plan with a 5GB cap the "UNLIMITED" plan. Go figure.
Hopefully when Sprint comes out with the Diamond and other awesome new HTC phones about a year ahead of Verizon, we will be able to active their hardware on The Network. I am keeping my fingers crossed.
Yes it can be done. i have an alltel ppc6800 on vzw. the easiest way to do it is from the vzw website esn switch or activate equipment. There are some other steps you have to take to get the software loaded, not the stock rom. Then you will have to call vzw and have them reset your DMU keys. start here:

or send you phone in:

Oh and you'll have yo change the SPC code since it's a sprint phone. need to get that to a 000000, again the first post will help with that.
Hope this helps.
Okay here's the deal. I have the opportunity to purchase a brand new Sprint 6800 for fairly cheap. I have Alltel as my curent provider. Can someone guide me into flashing it with WM 6.1 with that touchflo & GPS for Alltel? I read the FAQ but it didn't really say anything for my situation. Thanks in advance for any and all your help.
As long as you can activate the sprint phone with your alltel service... you have no problem.
Once you have activated and confirmed it's good... Just flash DCD 3.2.5 and the radio per the instructions and run the alltell carrier cab.
the Radio / OS roms are carrier independent... The carrier Cab is what customizes it to work with your service.
so how can i find out if I can activate with Alltel?

Get ESN Number from phone and call Alltel to see if they can activate it.
Also in the future you should make the subject of the post a brief description of the issue.. Like "Help flashing sprint 6800 on alltel service with WM 6.1"
You'll get more people who have had a similar situation or think they can help you to click on the post and supply good info.
Will do.. Thanks
I have a Qwest branded Mogul.
i am currently running DCD 3.26 and radio 3.42.50 (THX DCD!!!)
qwest is shutting down and forcing their customers to choose a different provider
i have not had my phone for very long, so of course i would like to find a way to use my mogul so i don't have to purchase a new phone
i am aware that i can load custom rom's with different carrier optimizations,
---> so i (as well as most qwest customers ) am curious if anyone knows if either verizon or Sprint will activate the ESN for my mogul.
any thoughts?
I would call a service rep, and ask them, otherwise its as easy as installing a Sprint Carrie cab by DCD. The last thing to do is figure out if Sprint well activate the ESN to allow access to there network.
Godspeed
I'm pretty sure they would just need to put your ESN on their network, which is the hard part since they'd rather you have one of their Mogul's / XV6800's. Good luck trying to port it. Let us know how it goes. I am interested cuz I have an old Mogul and if I could port that to Verizon and have both phones on that account it would be pretty cool.
Has anyone had any luck doing this? Migrating it from Qwest to Sprint successfully? And if so, what would be the correct steps to migrate it?
Would I need to/could I flash a Sprint ROM on the phone?
I see that there is discussion about SPC or MSPL with these phones? What is this used for?
Any help would be greatly appreciated!
Thanks
Brandon
Qwest Mogul on VZW or Sprint
You need to know the code to enter into the MSL to unlock the phone.
The program Get SPL works for most people.
I had to edit the rgeistry to find mine.
Once you have changed the MSL code to 000000,
I use QPST to backup all the important settings just in case I have to adjust data settings.
You need to flash the Olipro bootloader (I use 2.40) then the radio, then you can flash any custom ROM you like.
Then just install a carrier CAB file for your carrier, to the phone.
I find that PPCKitchen has the best program to pick and choose just the programs that you want.
But try a few Pre-cooked ROMs if you like.
There quite a few Chefs here and over at PPCGeeks that put a lot of time and effort into building and uploading custom ROMs for people to try out.
They all monitor the threads to help out if you have any issues.
And remember that you can use a TITAN/Mogul ROM cooked for any carrier,
Just load that CAB file for the carrier that you use.
Also, try to flash via SD card when you can. You never know that cable may fail, or the power outag occures.
Hope this helps,
Above all your esn has to be accepted by whatever provider you want to use. Most of them will not allow the quest esn to be used. So before you do anything all and ask.
Qwest Mogul on VZW or Sprint
Yes that is a very good point.
I have 3 Qwest PPCs that have that problem.
The ESNs are good, but because of policy, I now have 3 ROM slaves.
eBay has plenty of Sprint 6800s, most of the "Usable" ones sell for around $50oo.
If you fee you need to rid yourself ofthat item, PM me pleae.
I could use the parts for a security project I am working on.
Either way, you could allways use it as a test unit to practice on.
quest to whatever.
i dont know about where you all are located, but here in the peoples republic of California if you totaly metro or cricket out your mogul , with working mms and all , you can get 200 to 300 depending on the condition. food for thought.
Unlocker for Verizon is out!

AWESOME!!! So will any CDMA rom work? And what of radios? I mean how different of sprint vs verizon devices are we talking right now?
So will you port over your R4R or will it not work with the DCD base?
Hmm, I'm really wanting a touch pro now-well I already did, but...

Scott...good to see you over in this forum. My Touch Pro is supposed to be in today, so i'm switching over from the "Titan" forum and trying to read up.
it seems the unlocker is getting close, but for us Alltel people, that particular unlocker as they say might not be best for Alltel yet. I'm going to read a bit more, but if you see anything soon, let me know.
I've got a buddy that has this thing, and out of the box, this thing is bad. I'm hoping to put a DCD or some ROM on it quick.

Don't quote me here, but I'm pretty sure Alltel's TP is the same as the sprint touch pro. You should be able to use the unlocker .37 in the link and use any Alltel touch pro rom. I don't know what's different from each carrier for settings if there's no Alltel rom, but I do know that the different VzW hardware will need more than just carrier changes.
This is awesome news!!!

i see the .37...thanks. Now trying to read up on available ROMS that would work with Alltel. First time in the "Raphael" forum, so just trying to catch up on my reading.

Here is link to a thread talking about different Alltel ROMS

Our company is moving to Verizon and they told us that we could use our existing sprint phones if we could make them work on Verizon network. I wanted to know if the stock verizon rom would work on the sprint touch pro. Our owner does not want to use a custom rom.
thanks in advance, and i apologize if this has already been answered but i could not find it anywhere.

The ROM is the least of your concerns. The real issue is getting VZW to add your MEID to their DMD so it can be activated. The alternative to doing this isn't legal and is even more difficult. There was once someone here on these forums who know how and had access to add records to the DMD, but I haven't heard from him in at least a year. I would love to hear from the individual (or someone else willing and able) again.
we were given the go ahead from the business account manager that if we could make them work they will allow it. The phones we have are actually generic cdma phones that operate on the sprint network through beyond mobile (an mvno similar to kricket)

If the phones are unbranded, you should have no issues with VZW adding the ESN numbers to their dB. I guess the best way to find out would be by calling VZW and finding out. Good luck.
