I have tried to run DCD's latest kitchen on multiple computers and every time I run BuildNB, it crashes when it tries to start BuildOS.
I have tried it on WinXp Sp2, WinXp Sp3, a bare install of Winxp SP2. I have tried it on all versions of Dot Net....
Still no love for me!!! :-(
WTF am I doing wrong???
EDIT:
Ok the issue was a path problem, apparently there was an issue where if I tried to run it from My Documents folder or the Desktop folder that the path was too long.
I moved the kitchen folder to the root of C:\ and it ran perfectly.
Hope this helps others that have the same issue!
Thanks everyone for your help in figuring out the issue.

Have you installed Visual C++ 2008 Runtime?
http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/...34-3e03-4391-8a4d-074b9f2bc1bf&displaylang=en
It is required along with .net version greater than 2.0
Yes, I have installed it even though it is no longer required for DCD's latest kitchens, but BuildOS still crashes...
Sorry, that's all I've got. Hopefully someone else can chime in.

Is it crashing immediately.....have you run it before?
It worked when I cooked a DCD ROM a few months ago, now with the new kitchen it starts to move the modules then BuildNB calls BuildOS and it crashes immediately. I can click on BuildOS.exe and get the same result.
You're extracting the folder from the rar file and not just running BuildNB.bat from the archive correct?
Yes, that is correct. I am also an admin on these PC's and I am running it of a network drive but if I copy it locally it also fails so that is not an issue.
This is making me nuts.

Have you downloaded it again? Sounds like a corrupted download......
This is what the debugger says:
An unhandled exception of type 'System.IO.DirectoryNotFoundException' occurred in mscorlib.dll
Additional information: Could not find a part of the path 'C:\Documents and Settings\user\Desktop\dcd_titan_kitchen_3.2.6\dcd_titan_kitchen_3.2.6\TOOLS\SYS
Did you re-download the kitchen again??
path too long?
try to extract the archive to a folder on the root of C:, like "DCD326" and run it from there. there may be a limit to the length the path to a file can be. good luck...

I am trying to install the HardSPL on my device (Cingular 8525). I downloaded the Hard-SPL-V7.zip file and unzipped it. I activesync and everything was fine. I waited till activesync was done.
Then, when I double click on the RUUWrapper.exe file, it says
The application failed to initialize properly (0xc0000135). Click on OK to terminate the application.
Any suggestions on what I could be doing wrong. This happens on all the computer that I tried.

A very similar problem has driven me crazy for weeks when I started messing with the Hermes. In my case, there were several versions of the RUU that would bomb if run from a network drive.
Copy them to the desktop and see if it works. Hope it helps

If you search for that error code on Google most of the replies point you to meeding .net framework.
I found this out after clearing out my laptop and not being able to flash Roms which worked before - reinstalling .net cured the problem
Well, up until now, I have just used DCD's ROM's without customizing then, but I thought I would give the kitchen a shot. So, I downloaded DCD's latest and greatest kitchen of v3.2.2, also downloaded the .Net 2.0 link EXE fil from his page and tried to install it (cause you need it to run the kitchen) but I get an error, says that it is "incompatible with the previously installed version of .net"
so, i tried uninstalling all my .net stuff in add/remove, rebooting, and installing this, and still wont let me. i tried windows update and updated to 3.5, had 1.1 and 2.0 downloads as well, and nothing will work.....net will not install at all, no matter what version.
so i cannot get the kitchen to run...help....?

did you restart the computer? after, did you delete the entire extracted folder of the kitchen and re-extract it? that always works for me.
Using DCD's (BuildOS) Kitchen with Vista
If you have UAC active on Vista here is what I suggest. If you are seeing issues with default.hv, user.hv, boot.hv most likely you have a permissions issue. Delete your extracted directories - Create a Root folder, such as Kitchen - Select Properties of that folder in Explorer - Go to the Security Tab and choose Edit - highlight your Users group and choose full control and then OK. Extract your kitchen files into this location. Logic would tell you that you should be able to just change the permissions on your folder once you extract it - UAC and logic don't necessarilly run together.... So once you've created a Root directory, set the security, extracted the kitchen into this location - run buildNB.bat as you would anything else - good luck.
The same issue applies to Vista and .Net errors (.Net 2.0 is default in Vista)
lol @ Vista...who uses Vista? hehe.

Was that really necessary? You are asking for help, and decide to bash controversial/fairly useful software in the same thread. Use your brain, kiddo!
I use Vista. Works great. I also have an XP desktop.
Heck I still have a notebook running windows 95 on it.
Whats it to you?

Yeah this is the same kid who claims he is the only one that has nevo remote working, even though it doesn't work on EVERY other Titan. He's also the one that says he can magically send MMS messages without any software to do so. I'm starting to smell the bs from all the way here in Boston.

If you read his blog, he actually sells (overpriced) computers. Once again, I think gc has properly diagnosed what's going on.
I have a similar problem with 3.2.0 but my screen is stuck on the vzw screen stuck ...is there anything I can do to fix this ?

Whoa and that's saying a lot, given the way that bean town must smell; I mean they call it bean town for a reason, right ?!
Yeah...though I think they should rename it Sports-town for the way that our sports teams beat everyone else's asses all the time....

Now who's shoveling the bs.....
OH - wait, they kinda did spank my Lakers..... guess I'll go back to the corner now.....
No it is ok as Bean-town, only used as a verb. Still has the sports connotation, and can be used both offensively and defensively, and in all the sports Boston offers (Hockey, BB, Baseball, Football, etc).
Verb
To bean.
1. To hit with a projectile, accurately.
The pitcher beaned the batter, rather than letting him hit another home run.

What version are you using? If its the lateset update from a couple days ago this is a know issue that is yet to be resolved. OVer at PPCKitchen they put the onus on No2Chem to fix his kitchen.
The new BuildOS blows. I reverted back to my original Build OS.
is there any way i can get the old buildos? I'm using the newest version
So i've tried this on 2 different computers both run vista btw. Anyone know how to fix it? I've seen that some ppl can still use his kitchen.
you must change The first line of the nueROM3_Selections.txt should be .90.04 which is in The kitchen_config file is located in the no2chem_Titan_Core folder.
sweet I noticed yesterday someone posted their selections ans config files and it works now. Thanks!!
YES I have searched and read before I posted..
I am attempting to cook my own roms for my Exec, I have d/l and installed a number from here and enjoy the process, so I have downloaded the files as suggested and tried to cook.
I can dump the rom OK and sort and fiddle through the files with no issue, but when I then try to build the rom, BUILDOS.EXE comes up with an error
BUILDOS has encountered an error and needs to close...
I found you had to move the OEM and SYS folder back up one level, but then when you run the buildos it now fails with external component has thrown an exception
Windows XP SP3 up to date with patches
Any ideas most appreciated
no one?
Is the kitchen empty?
BuildOS.cmd
To build:
1. Execute BuildOS.cmd (requires .NET to work)
2. After the entire process, your new ROM will be found in \FLASH folder

Obviously you have no idea... Have you in fact done this and obtained a result?
The process is complicated and requires much ammendment to the source data to be even able to dump the rom, but to then edit, re-assemble and produce does NOT work using the kitchen indicated in the original posting.
If YOU have been able to do this, then please feel free to document the full an correct steps taken and the changes you made.

I think same as your problems.
I have cooked by Atom 6.1 cooking set, never found those problems.
I am unable to open the new updates. 20090811 or 20090906. I keep getting the error
"Microsoft Visual C++ Runtime errror" "The Application has requested the runtime to terminate in an unusual way"
I don't know what to do about this. the older versions work fine. I reflashed with the 20010801 just to see and it flashed fine.
This is the same computer I always flash from. Like I said i can flash the older roms. Nothing has changed on the computer. I have installed no new software or hardware. I ran a Microsoft update after this problem came up to try and resolve it... no difference.
I cannot get a response in the energy rom thread, probably because it's 600 pages long. I have searched and found nothing.
Any Ideas?
flash it using SD card
I just ran into the same problem... Unzip it again, make sure there is only 2 files in the folder, then rename the folder.. The folder name is too long so it wouldn't work.. Just flashed successfully Thanks NRG!!!!

i got the same error, but renaming the folder and putting it on C: worked for me too
Do you guys ever search for solutions???
Guys,
A simple search in the NRG latest ROM thread would give you the solution in seconds.
Rename the folder so there are NO spaces in it (i.e. "EnergyROM_RAPHAEL_20090905_Standard") and just to be on the safe side, use a "Custom_RUU" from an older build.
Happy flashing!
Had the same problem, renaming the folder resolved it.
i just redownloaded it....and it worked
