Titan + Bell + $30 + ICS - Mogul, XV6800 ROM Development

Has anyone tried ICS with USB or WifiRouter.
Was wondering if anyone is doing this on the $30 unlimited data plan and not being charged for tethering.

I'm Not sure about Bell but i have been on the Telus 30$ unlimited plan and have downloaded 3 gigs in 90 days both tethered and untethered and have not incurred any additional data charges.

ICS

i always remove internet conn sharing when i build a rom, but am wondering what most people use it for. I notice alot of people really use the hell out of it -maniak
i use it so i can use WMWifirouter. i didnt cook it in 3.2.5 and had to load it from a cab. ICS allows for tethering your 6800 to your pc so you can connect to the internet through your phones data network, but i use PDAnet for that.
well that could be useful when u dont have internet around. i remember a long time ago you were able to do something similar but sprint considered it a terms of use violation. im guessing with ppc's now they dont car.
Oh they care, and will terminate your contract or charge you for it.... I have Verizon and just changed my Unlimited data Plan(45/mo) to the 30/mo pda/smartphone email/data plan. The latter plan you are not supposed to tether, but with a custom ROM, how will they know.....? lol

Too bad you don't have Sprint.

Very bad idea. If you read the very very fine print on the plans, you'll notice that the $30/month email plan only allows for 10mb of data per month. Anything over gets charged at the very expensive pay-as-you-go plan.
Foir DCD 3.25 on Sprint are any additional hacks needed to tether free on SERO?
Just to add my experience to the thread. I don't think VZ should charge additional for more than 10Mb usage if they advertise as 'unlimited'. I can't seem to find a copy of my contract to review fine print, but online...my plan is:
EXTRA CH 1350 $109.99 ANYTIME MIN UNL N&W $79.99 & IN UNL PDA $30 2Y.
I used to use PDANet on my treo with VZ, then when I got the 6800 in Feb 08, instead of buying PDANet again, I tested the VZAccess with the stock rom for 2 mos free (tethering). It worked fine, but after 2 mos, the monthly fee was an additional $15 (on top of the $30 for data already in the plan), so with the custom roms the ICS works basicly the same, and VZ supposedly does not know....but they obvioulsy keep track of usuage since it appears on the bill.
I used 764Mb data last month, and there have never been any additional charges for the data on my bill. One day there may be I guess, and then I will probably have to claim ignorance, try to get them to waive the fees, and sign up for the $15 VZ Access. Until then...
Can't get wifirouter to work with new rom. It says it connected but laptop wireless never see's it. Also the wifi arrows are always moving not steady indicating not connected. Installed non-oem ICS tried that and oem ICS no luck. Please advise. Thanks.

You need to create a new wireless ad-hoc network on your phone. THEN you run WMWifirouter. Your laptop will pick up the ad-hoc network that you created on your phone and connect to it.

Hotspot Work with Any Data Enable SIM Card?

Im traveling to Africa and about to order this phone, would lke to use it as a hotspot for my laptoop while in Africa, should I anticipate any problems? Ive bought GSM SIM cards many times with data enabled, would love to use the laptop too using same data
Has anyone got the Hotspot working on this phone on AT&T?
Please share setup details if you have this working
Is this the correct plan on AT&T for Hotspot feauture on the SGSII
Does the DataPro Personal 4GB with Tethering for Smartphones DataPro Personal Tethering plans provides users with the option to use tethering and AT&T Mobile Hotstpot. $45 includes 4GB of total data usage. $10 for an additional 1 GB overage allow HOTSPOT on AT&T phones?

[Q] Will my bill go up?

I'm presently on a 3g (Blackberry) phone with an AT&T unlimited data plan and presently my bill breaks down as folows:
450 min - $40
1500 Txt msgs - $15
Unlimited data - $30
Total - ~$85
Question: Essentially keeping all my fetures unchanged, will my bill go up if I switch to this AT&T I717 Galaxy Note?
Thanks
It should'nt, I previously had a Xperia x10 on Rogers network. I had the Government plan which is 15$ for 500 daytime mins and unlimited text and 30$ for 6 gigs. At the time I got my Galaxy Note the 6gig LTE plan was the same as the 3G one I was on so I got it changed for no extra cost. I had to change my SIM card which is 9.99 in store but i told the Rogers rep that i just got off the phone and I came to pick up my LTE sim card. they just gave it to me no charge.

Figuring they charge extra for everything else, I was just wondering if switching from 3G to LTE if AT&T will charge some extra fee.
They price for Unlimited 3G data vs Unlimited LTE data shouldn't change. Just be VERY careful that the rep you are talking to does not change you to a non-unlimited plan.

I was grandfathered in and have the same plan. Unlimited data is 3g/4g/LTE all inclusive. Only thing is don't try tethering unless you can mask your APN or you will get switched to the 5gb plan automatically.

Anyone using Photon on AT&T prepaid Unlimited everything?

Hello All,
Just wondering if anyone is using this on at&t prepaid unlimited everything plan. How much data are you using? Also if using it as hotspot, does at&t detect it? Any notices or terminiations occurr?
Thanks
I have a grandfathered unlimited data plan and use about 35 gb a month. AT&T have sent me no notices or complaints about the data usage or hotspot.

Unlimited phone/text/DATA available again!

Verizon just reintroduced a new unlimited talk /text /data plan, $65 + $20 for one phone and it includes Canada and Mexico and if you autopay, you get an automatic $5 discount per month.
Free hotspot (10GB at 4gLTE speeds, then 3g speed after that per month)
Data MAY be throttled after 22GB in billing period.
500MB/day at 4gLTE then speed drops to 2g speeds in Canada and Mexico
It's actually saving me about $7/month over my old unlimited data + 450minute phone service.
I have never gone over 18GB in any one month, so.. I was finally convinced to drop my old unlimited data plan because I am getting more for less!
No idea how long this plan will be available.
Just an FYI
And no, I have no connection with verizon other than I am a customer.

I'm still grandfathered in with 2 phones on the old data plan, was wondering about the details of this new plan. Appreciate the details!
I average 20 to 40 gigs per month and pay extra for the Canada/Mexico data talk plan. The idea of being throttled down scares me and especially when most my data usage is through my hotspot. Think it's best to stick it out. It's funny how hard verizon has tried to make me change plans lol

They claim throttling only occurs if you use over 22GB, in the current billing period AND network congestion is occurring. However, they also say throttling will occur while using as a hotspot and you have over 10GB of tethering usage (in the current billing period). Both those throttle you to 3G speeds.
As to Canada, after 500MB in any one day, you will be throttled to 2G speeds for the rest of the day.
I too had a grandfathered unlimited data plan and a limit of 450 "prime time" minutes and 500 text messages. I never went over either limit. I use my RV 3 to 4 months a year, during those months use 12 to 16 GB of data using the hotspot (rooted unmonitored hotspot) other months only 2 or 3GB.
But..I have a son who lives in Canada but could only text from Canada for free, any other use was expensive.
So for ME, it was a no brainer. Lower my bill by about $7 but data, phone and text in Canada. And still get more unthrottled data than I have ever used.
I tried my hotspot a few days ago (same hotspot, not Verizon's standard hotspot app) and then checked by usage the next day. It showed zero tethering.
In your situation.. I'd be concerned about throttling too and wouldn't have switched.
But

I am still on the grandfathered unlimited plan. I am going back and forth about switching. I have 2 lines, one mine and wife has the other. We are both heavy data users users with each phone probably in the the area of 60gb or more a month. Switching over would save some money but she is concerned about the throttling. For me, most of my data is done at home so it would be be easy for me to use the home wifi which is probably just a bit faster than mobile data but she uses a lot outside the house. Decisions, decisions...
But does anyone know if they will be throttling the grandfathered unlimited plan as well? If so, then it is a no brainer and the switch would be the better option...

They have always said they will throttle the heaviest 5% of users and there have been recent posts on the internet that the heaviest grandfathered unlimited users are being forced off the unlimited plan, as in giving them a date to select another plan or lose all service. The reports I have seen were from users who use over 90GB a month.
I *suspect* they will continue to force grandfathered users to switch and/or raise the fees another $10 or $20 a month like they did 6 or so months ago.
Nothing official.. But I have read that grandfathered plans now are less than 1% of the total number of users.
Bottom line.. You roll the dice and take your chances.
