Phonext problem that hasnt been fixed!

Ive read people asking this same question and it hasnt been addressed yet. I downloaded and installed the SE Rom 1.2, and I cant get the Phonext to assign individual ringtones. Ive tried everything, 100K or less, reinstalling Phonext, even trying a standard tone like Bellditty.wav, and Phonext always plays the default ringtone. Ive tried putting it in the Windows\Rings\ folder and still nothing. The only difference ive noticed in the phone since v1.2 was installed is the way my phone dials or recieves calls. Before when i dialed a number it filled out the ()and- automatically, ex: 555-555 now its 5555555, and before the caller id showed as 1(209)555-5555, now its 12095555555. And just out of curiosity, why does Caller2picture and Phonext always copy the ringtone to the Main Memory. The purpose of a program like c2p or Phonext is to assign alot of ringtones, Id rather have my ringtones on my 256MB Storage Card than my 32MB main memory, Ive tried changing my registry to set the default rings folder on my storage card, and it works when the phone is on, but if it starts to rings while my phones off, it wont ring. And thats setting the ringtone through the regular option not phonext, phonext still doesnt work. Has anyone figurd this out yet. Thanks for any help.
My conclusion, I already give up these 2 app regard ringtone setting. Just stick with the regular option.
One more thing, I have the same problem as u described. When I turn off the dvice, incoming call doesn't ring. One way to figure out is only turn off the screen and everything works fine while u set the default ring folder to the storage card.
This was a bug in Special Edition v1.2, not in PhonExt: I missed a registry key. If you add the following registry setting:
[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\ControlPanel\Sounds\RingTone0]
"SavedSound"="DefaultRing .wav"
PhonExt's distinctive ring feature will work.
Or you could make a new 3.17.03 based ROM from the kitchen. PhonExt's distinctive ring feature does not work on any ROM based on WM2003.
I've been using the Pic and Ring program with WM2003 and it's working just fine. I used it with 3.17 and 4.005 and 4.010

Thank you very much for the reply, i'll add the registry key soon. Thanks again.
P.S. XDA-Developers.com RULES!
HI jgme,
Did you get your phonext working? I have mine taken from a rom kitchen cooked 3.17 rom and has the registry setting that xda developer has posted earlier. It still won't work. Can someone kindly give me a checklist on all the areas to check on to get the darn software working?
Cheers
Vic
No I fixed the Reg key and it still didnt work. Well when i open up regedit, SavedSound was already there, so i changed the value to defaultRing .wav and it still didnt work. So maybe theres someone with other ideas?
Hi I'm suffering from the same problem with caller id show as +1(208) 2334 4444 when dialled using PhonExt it inserts +1 which is US area code. My contact list store all contact numbers with (0208) 234 4444. I'm located in the UK I'm using
ROM VERSION: 3.17.03 ENG
ROM DATE 05/15/03
RADIO VERSION 4.21.00
Protocol version : 32554
PhonEXT 1.2.0.0
Any suggestion getting this to work .
Hi
Go to settings, connections, connections, dialling locations and change the country code. I simply deleted the entries in area code and country code and I could dial normally in the UK. However, I still can't get the ringtone customised to work !!!

Remove O2 connection Icon

Hi,
I'm quite sure I've downloaded cab file from XDA forum that removes O2 icon in W2003SE Sin Merged ROM.
I spent last 2 days searching in the forum and nothing.
Can anyone help me and give the URL to that file?
Thanks a lot.

Hope This Helps

Hi all
Like others, I don'l like the O2 icon or the startup screen, but I can live with that.
You can delete/move the connetion.exe file in the \Windows\Startup folder to avoid the O2 icon
Hi,
I know. But if is possible I would like to remove it.
If I move/delete the .exe file, the connections warnings and notifications will work the same?
Thanks
AF
O2 Icon
The file in the Windows/startup folder is only a link (conections.lnk) with te program in a subfolder. I have removed it and all the noemal notifications work fine, the only thing the O2 icon did was change colour when connected and brought up the multiple notifaction icon.
David
DO a hard reset. Then at the screen that says personal or corporate user then do a soft reset. Waa Laa! No more garbage active O2 or icon in the start menu bar.
Mike i know if you hard reset then at the connection set up if you do corporate then enter 0506 it will not install any o2 crap, but it also will not install the connections GPRS etc etc, OK we have CAB files to fix this. But if as you said soft reset instead entering code, dose this set any connections. I am in the UK and Use o2 but just dont wont the active crap, but do wont everything else
Thanks
John
Hi,
Catanash is right.
Remove the link from startup folder and O2 will vanish.
And when you have notifications from sms or call, the icon will show up.
I use wisbar, so I see another icon, not O2.
Thanks Catanash.

CityID - Displays City, State of incoming calls..

http://www.cequint.com/city.html
Has anyone been able to get this to work w/ their hermes? i've heard of a few for WM5..but im using wm6. My problem is that when a call is coming in, the cityID screen is the backround, im assuming showing me what I want to see, but the stock "incoming call" screen keeps showing up, which is covering what i would be seeing from cityID..hmm any help?
Has there been any development with this on the Hermes? I used to try it on the Palm Treo 750 and my gripe with this application is that the data connection cannot reconnect and I would either have to uninstall CityID or soft reset to re-connect to the internet, which was very frustrating. Was wondering if anyone has tried it with Windows Mobile 6, and specifically with the Black Satin ROM.
I need CityID cab file
Can any body email me the CityID cab file to my email id [email protected]

Flashed to latest ROM, have 3 problems

Flashed to latest official ROM
1. The voicemail line if gone from the today screen, and I can't find any way to get it back
2. The ForceOffSSL registry trick to get comcast email to not take forever no longer works, and breaks email completely
3. Using a hacked HTC hone dll to get weather for a custom city locks the phone up completely. How do you get custom weather?
Also, anyone have a link to the previous ROM, the last WM6 one before the 6.1 update? If I can't get these issues fixed, I want to flash back
I would try to uninstall the HTC Home can and re-install it. As for the Office workaround, I would call Comcast and ask for the exact exchange settings and let them know that you are trying to access your E-mail through your PDA phone. Sad to say you will probably just get some idiot reading out of a book so good luck with that one. You may need to tell them that you ahve a "tier 2" problem. ou may have already tries this stuff but it's a good place to start.

Click to collapse
You use HTC Home Customizer to add a custom city for weather... not a hacked DLL...
I entered in my city using HHC, and it doesn't work.
I'm using the same comcast settings that worked with WM 6.0
What about the voicemail indicator?
You need Voicemail Today plugin. Here.
Got the cab installed, Voicemail is back
I explicitly declare dthe ports for my incoming and outgoing COmcast mail servers, and now the regfix works, so that problem is fixed.
Only issue left is weather. It doesn't work. I have the latest veriosn of HHC, I went into the weather page, switch it to a custom database, put my city, state, country, and zip code information, and it doesn't work. "Unable to retrieve data for selected city"
How do you get weather on WM6.1? I tried the hacked DLL method, but that bricks the phone.

issue with voicemail notice

My HD2 has a small issue with the phone showing I have a voice mail when in actual fact I don't.......
Could this be it has remembered I have one stored and will not lose the message until I delete this voicemail even though it is being saved...
I really need to keep the message I have saved for work purposes..
Regards Lee
Just tested this, and my voicemail icon disappears (after a short time) when I've listened to but not deleted a voicemail.
Vodafone UK stock 1.72 ROM and CHT 1.7.1.2.
