Is my Cingular 3125 dead? - HTC Startrek

Please, help me.
I have flashed my Cingular 3125 with several WM 6.1 roms without any problems. But, the last one got stuck at about 73% and was never completed.
Ever since, I can not flash the phone. No matter what I try or do, the flashing always stops at 4 or 5%, giving either the error:
ERROR [270]: UPDATE ERROR
The image file is corrupted. Please check your Update Utility.
or the error:
ERROR [294]: INVALID VENDER ID
Problem is, that i can not communicate with my phone, since it does not start up anymore (it does go into bootload mode, but if I start up 'normally', it get's stuck on the start-up screen). So i can not supercid or application unlock it (things I had done already, since I had flashed the phone several times already).
Any suggestions?

Thats why SuperCID is strongly recommended

Try to flash official Cingular rom via MicroSD card

My Phone was SuperCid and application unlocked.
I've tried to flash via SD card, but it doesn't work. When I try to flash a non-official Cingular rom, I get a message about a wrong certificate, and when I try to flas an official Cingular rom, I get the message "checking SD contents", but then the phone just goes to the bootloader screen.
Please, help me!

Mine did this and I was able to flash the Cingular 3125 ROM from htc.com using the USB cable... I followed the SuperCID procedure, but don't think it actually CID unlocked it since I thought the point was it'd allow me to write a non-official ROM in this situation.. but the Cingular 3125 ROM flashed ok

What do you mean exactly? Anyway, I can not follow the supercid procedure at this time, since I can not communicate with my phone. And flashing using the USB cable does not work.

I did so, but without any luck. I get a message about the certificate for unofficial roms and no result at all for official roms
PS sorry for the fist "mad" icon. Tried to delete it, but without any luck (seems i'm out of luck these days)

Same problem me too

If you have Cingular 3125, then you need to flash this rom:
http://member.america.htc.com/download/Software/RUU_STAR100_4.1.502.5_02.79.30_CWS_SHIP.exe
To flash it from microSD card, you need to open it with WinRAR (install WinRAR on your PC, then right click on file and select "Open with WinRAR"). Then get an nbh-file from it.

Thank you for looking in to my problem.
I've already done all that, (renamed the file to STARIMG.nbh and put it on the root of the SD card), but without any results.

Try flashing from an SD card.
the only way i can access my sd card is through phone i get an error 262 when i try and use the recovery of the sspl rom flasher
Buy a card reader. Read the wiki; it explains everything.
its not letting me flash using the sd card says loading then goes back to bootloader
1) Use card reader to format the card in FAT32
2) Copy the .nbh file as HERMIMG.nbh to the root of the card.
did that now it says loading the goes back to the boot loader
or: Practice safe flashing techniques:
usb connect to rear usb port no usb hubs
screensaver/sleep mode off
pc running windows XP
close all other programs & refrain from using your PC for the 20 or 25 minutes it will take to flash

Ouch. I don't know what to tell you.
I thought as long as you just flash boot screens and OS you were fairly safe from bricks... I guess you got the raw end of that deal.
I wish I could help more. You might try the Linux RUU flashing tool pof made. That might work...
i get red numbers that say 0068002 when trying to flash of of card

Wait, I thought it said "Loading" then went back to bootloader...
it does that but what i didn't see before is right before it returns to bootloader it shows those numbers.
This one's beyond me... Any gurus out there have any ideas?
just flash a full shipped rom (signed with proper key), if your device is not SuperCID then it must match your CID too.
i've tried
keep getting error 262 in hermes rom update utility
I see in your signature you have a 8525, are you trying to flash a full shipped cingular's rom?
edit: i tried to flash xda .2 and it hung now I am willing to flash anything that will unbrick my phone. So far the rom from htc is working.
yes,, I am downloading the one for the cingular 8525 from htc right now and am going to try that
Am I missing something here?
yes, the shipped cingular rom will work on your phone, as it is signed and matches your cid, no worries.
xda-live is not signed with the proper cert, that's why bootloader won't accept it...
this time I am going to cid unlock it since I am haveing to start over anyways

Tricolor and invalid vendor ID

After flashing my locked T-mob vario dutch (for the 20st time) it now is bricked.
I tried to flash the Fun_Key_rom.
Hermes is stuck on the HTC logo 1pl-1.01 and SPL-2.03 not Super CID. (because of the warranty). I followed the thread about unbricking, but untill now no result.
I can flash it with Ruu.exe (and ruuwrapper.exe) the option 2.02/2.10 works for me untill 1% and then I get a invallid vendor ID.
I read the thread over and over again, but didn't seem to get how to unbrick it. Do I need to have a special rom? or other software?
no you need to flash Hard SPL on your phone right now!!! you can always unflash the HardSPL at a later date but you where just asking for a brick by not flashing HardSPL in the first place!

Yes, you need to use CustomRUU to avoid the invalid vendor ID. It bypasses the CID check. That is why it works, even though you are not superCID.
Regarding the 260 error, try a couple things.
If you can, try SD flashing.
If you cannot do SD method, try using "manual bootloader" method:
- Put phone in bootloader mode
- NOW attach to USB lead
- Start CustomRUU
If that does not work, try taking the battery out for a while (5 minutes) and then try again.

It may be the RUUWrapper you have, but you can get it at THIS THREAD You may already have used it though, on the one that did not give you the invalid vendor error. Use it with the nbh file. If you only have an exe, then you can use winrar to take it apart into 2 files - the ruu file (the updater) and the nbh (the ROM itself). Once you are using the right CustomRUU, try the things I mentioned in my previous post.
Other things to be sure of...
If you are using Vista, check with MrVanx guides to see what you need to do.
You must have...
ActiveSync 4.5
.NET framework 2 or higher
Thanks for ur help. Really appr. it.
When I use the CustomRuu on any nbh file I'll get the Update error (260).
If I use the same nbh file on the RUU.exe file and I choose the 2.02/2.10 option it flashes my mobile till 1%. Then I get error 274 Invalid Vendor ID.
I see on the forum a lot of people bricked there Tytn on SPL 2.03.
Is Mr. Olipro having an solution?
Have you tried these things...

You are in a quite bad situation. I am not well aware about all the new ways to backup bricked hermes; but as far as I know the only remaining possibility for you is to flash your device using the default flasher AND a rom matching your CID.
Hopefully tmobile dutch released an updated WM5 release for your phone. You should be able to flash it, setup hardspl, and flash anything you want; but in a safe way this time.
There is maybe a way to tweak the CID of cooked ROM, but don't know anything about it (and there will certainly be signing issues).
In order to get your CID and see if something matching it is available at the wiki read the wiki about mtty (as far as I remember it is something like "type 2").

Because of a hardware error I had to return my Tytn today..while it still is bricked. Hope Tmob will be kind and fix this for me along with the hardware issue

Radio cannot be flashed, always stops at 0%

I was handed what looked like a brand new I-MATE JasJam, except I was told that it was crashing a lot and could not make phone calls.
After reading lots of different posts on this site I have determined that the Radio's firmware is corrupt. There is "NO GSM" on bootup and no IMEI being listed.
I have been trying the last few days to flash the radio with a new version of firmware but have yet to get past 0%. I have had success flashing the device with Black 3.5 but the radio is still not flashing.
I have simunlocked and SuperCID the phone with success and I have tred USB Monitoring when I attempted to flash the radio device and have seen "AUX_process-FAIL..".
Before I keep trying with alternative ways of programming the RADIO is there anything I can do to determine that the RADIO is physically installed and electronically responsive. My concern is that perhaps the radio's hardware is broken and no amount of flashing attempts will ever bring it back.
Currently
IPL - 1.01
SPL-1.40.Olipro (I can install 2.10 if required..)
CID=SuperCID (Level 0)
Can Boot to OS ? Yes
Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Hi
Used to happenb to me. I always flash bu sd card way. Just put the radio image on sd card in nbh format. Rename it to HERMIMG and go into bootloader. It will put the radio on. Alayas fails for me when i use the customruu
your radio bootloader is dead, you're basically screwed.
Thanks, thats all I wanted to know.

Sorry I think you misunderstood. All im saying is that mine used to stop at 0% Every single time using windows to flash. I started using the sd card and it would freeze as well but kept trying and trying and eventually it would start to flash. Usually on sd card method it would freeze around 12% but then eventually go on and update success.. Try the sd card way and it may work. Remember I had the same problem , no gsm , no imei etc

Indie, can you please tell us which rom you try to flash via sd card? Are you use nbh tool v101 to extract shipped rom, only radio part on sd card, or you boot completely rom t-mobile wm 6 (which version???)? Please give to us details.

I would flash the htc official wm6 rom, or get any of the extracted radio roms from the wiki. Now i have the official tmobile wm6 rom uk rom somewhere on this site. I just put the radio or whole rom in nbh format onto sd card and rename it to HERMIMG. then go into bootloader and it will do the rest itself. The exe files from the official tmobile rom get extracted to your temp folder and creates the nbh format. Just copy it from there
Remember if it freezes , keep trying. I once had to try 10 times before it did my radio. i would wait 10 mins at a time for gsm. if it doesnt move by then its froze. reset and try again

I think that my radio bootloader is dead, because when I try in mtty rtask a and then rversion I get nothing in USB monitor. Is my radio bootloader dead, and is there now a soluiotn for recovering radio bootloader?
Well based on what others are saying in this thread; yes, you flash the radio or rom via SD Card instead of activesync, and you do so by going into bootloader manually...read the thread.
I tried that, but its the same. It stops on 0%. I saw that others that had this problem had a functional radio bootloader (0107 or 0108). Mine is corrupt!

[Q] Uninstall SSPL 3.03???

Hi guys,
At the moment i have SSPL.
I want to install HSPL3 - 2.08
but i cant unstall the sspl.
when i try to install hspl, i get error, BAD SPL VERSION
to install my sspl i used the folowing steps :
1. Remove SD (and remove Application Data and Program Files folders from it using SD card reader)
2. Remove HSPL with HSPL2_RUN.exe (flash SPL 1.66.0000 with HSPL2_RUN.exe)
3. PowerOff the phone
4. Boot to bootloader (VolDown+PowerOn) and when it shows "USB" flash stock ROM by running matching RUU_Leo_S_HTC_XXX_3.14.XXX_Radio_15.42.50.11U_2.15 .50.14_LEO_S_Ship.exe (get yours HERE or for Orange UK/FR HERE)
5. Hard Reset (when phone starts booting after step 4, remove the battery, insert it back press VolUp+VolDown and still holding both press PowerOn and follow the instructions)
6. Boot to homescreen.
7. Run SSPL_RUU.exe with Artemis v40 RUU_Signed_0409.nbh in the same folder - YOU HAVE TO BE ON HOME SCREEN, NOT BOOTLOADER (this took me 3 tries until succeded - yes - nerve wrecking, but works). If it doesn't work (hangs on black screen for more than 2min or stays at 0%) remove the battery and try again. If still doesn't work - try solutions in NOTE below.
8. Hard reset (instructions in step 5)
9. when on homescreen - softreset.
10. Insert SD
Any help?
you dont have sspl, 'sspl - soft secondary program loader' is a one shot version of 'hspl - hard/hacked secondary program loader'.
You have 'spl - secondary program loader' - stock spl.
If you followed those steps you now have spl 3.03 and so hspl will not work. You must downgrade your phone to an earlier rom/spl version. 1.66 for example. USB will be fine so long as its your correct stock rom, , any version except 3.14.

AAh ok thanks it worked
I flashed original 1.66 ROM
No w i was able to install HSPL
Thanks!!!
no worries.
Hmmmm, I have the 3.14 ROM with 3.03.000 SPL installed.
What I`m trying to do is Install NAND Android. But to do this I need HSPL 2.08.
Tried downloading one of the older stock roms (1.66) and then attemped to flash via SD and through the .exe file directly.
From the .exe file it boots to the tri color screen and then reaches the progress bar screen. However it sticks there and the errors out with a code : 294.
Through the SD method after the phone detects the .nbh file it comes back with a "28002 : Not allow" error message.
Have tried this with varoius types of Mem cards but no luck.
I then tried SSPL with 1.66 as the ROM and i got it to flash the ROM with no problems but the HSPL still sticks at 3.03. And thats expected since SSPL is like a one shot go at flashing a ROM different from your region.
Question : Since this isnt working, will a task 29 help in this case? From what I understand it formats the filesystem that holds the OS. By doing so, will I then be able to flash one of the older Roms so I can install HSPL 2.08?
Any help will be appreciated.

i had similar issues, i used task29 that contains blank .nbh. you must have hspl 2.08 first to run this then install any custom ROM through PC or your branded ROM through SD card it should work or install Android then. i hope this helps.

Mate, do you want to upgrade or downgrade? You're statement is confusing
what do you mean "locked"?
As long as you flash the CORRECT STOCK ROM, you can upgrade or downgrade.
What you have to do first is find the CORRECT STOCK ROM".
you can't try all countries version, it is dangerous.
Go to htc website and select the country where your hd2 come from, and download the stock rom using your SN.
If you can't find the CORRECT STOCK ROM, the only alternative is using gold card method.
Good luck

Gold card is a method to enable you to flash stock rom from other country (it is useful in a situation where you can't find the CORRECT STOCK ROM.
There is a thread for gold card, just using search button to find it out

Is it branded phone (telstra, Tmobile, orange, etc)? if yes, you should go to their website instead of htc website.
However, if you still fails, then the only alternative is using gold card method.
I never experience for this though I read it many times, so I would suggest you to search the forum. There is a thread title [GOLD CARD], just use search button.
Good luck

Yes a Official ROM will revert SPL but it will only do this if you flash it via SD card it will not revert HSPL if you flash it via USB.

Dear T-macgnolia,
A have flashed my device via USB under bootloader mode and I got the original spl back.
-------------------
isark, if you choose reverting OSPL via SD method, make sure that you have formated your SD card as FAT32.
Regards,
N

I am not trying to discredit you nbee but educate you. if you flashed a official ROM via USB and had SPL and not HSPL then you must have never had HSPL in the first place as that is one of the reasons for having HSPL. HSPL stands for Hard Secondary Program Loader. The Hard means that it will not get overwritten with SPL (Secondary Program Loader) when flashing, and I quote this straight from the HSPL thread.
- This HSPL will not get overwritten when flashing a full NBH with SPL via RUU.

Hear is a link to the thread if you want to visit it. Also visit my guide I have linked in my sig to get a more complete understanding of SPL and HSPL. The reason why flashing via SD card does overwrite HSPL is you are not using a ROM update utility(RUU) you are using the HD2 itself to flash the ROM and HD2 is only programed to flash everything included in the .nbh file. When you use the ROM update utility it checks your phone first to see what set parameters/protocols matches you HD2 then flashes only what checks out and matches these parameters/protocols. Hope this helps you underrstand why I said to flash via SD card.
Cheers

Hi T-Macgnolia,
You are absolutely right, and really sorry for misunderstanding some basic facts. I have flashed more than one ROMs during last weeks. I tried to call back my remembrances, and I get in the swing of that I have re flashed original ROM with one another original ones. So in fact OSPL was rewritten with an OSPL.
My fault.
Dear isark, the right choose is SD flash as Hi T-Macgnolia said
Have a nice day and thanks for clarifying my mistakes
