Modem Link and End Data Call - Touch Pro CDMA

OK. This is really "Another TouchPro Tethering Thread Squared" but it's driving me crazy.
I have a new TouchPro on Verizon and am trying to use it (isn't everyone) through a USB cord to tether my netbook. I have the BroadBand Connect add-on from Verizon and am using VZ Access Manager. After a rough install (mainly because I didn't read the manual) VZAM is installed properly as is the modem connection in XP.
Problem comes when I try to start "Modem Link" in the Touch Pro. 99% of the time (or even more than that) when I hit "Start" I get the WModem Error Message "End Data Call First". I've tried everything I can think of in Comm Manager; e.g. Airplane Mode on, Phone off, Data Connection & Direct Push Off. I've checked to see if ActiveSync is running (I'm hooked via DirectPush to an Exchange Server). Regardless there seems to be SOMETHING in the TouchPro trying to keep a data connection alive (when I go back to CommManager after turning off, say, Data Connection, it's back on). If I manage, through some procedure I can't reproduce, to get the ModemLink started, the tethering seems to work but can be flaky with 1010 Errors on the TouchPro or device.exe crashes. The final insult comes when I disconnect: the TouchPro shows an "antenna" icon above the signal strength bars (Modem connection?) and seems to block the phones normal EV data connection. I need to do a soft reset to get back online.
Has ANYONE come up with a reasonable routine that will let me tether without doing exotic incantations? I don't want to have to go back to my old BB8830 but tethering with that was a dream!!
Yes, I WILL call Verizon tech support but, as we all know, that is better left as a last (or next to last, I can always try to return the TP) resort.
Thanks in advance for any pointers.

go into the communications menu, disable the data connection. leave the phone connection on.
This will end your current data call on the network.
This is because you're currentl;y loged in with a [email protected] username and vzam needs a [email protected]. It's not a blackberry which automatically switches, but that was blackberry's doing.

Thanks for the reply but I actually had done that.
I would kill the data connection but then it would start again almost immediately.
What it turned out to be was Windows Live/ActiveSync re-establishing the connection because I had them on a schedule of "As Items Arrive". What I need to do now is go into AS and set Schedule to Manual, then go into WL and do the same and even go into my IMAP email account and set the schedule to Manual (it WAS every 15 minutes). THEN I can kill the data connection and it stays killed and ModemLink works. Afterwards I reverse the process. PITA since this was never necessary with my BB, but I realize a WinMo device is different.
Again, thanks for taking the time to post a response.

How to shut down X01HT's Internet connection?

Every month I have paid much money for phone and internet fee(9800 yen). I want to disable internet connection because it is not necessary for me.
thanks in advance
you can create a new internet connection and replace the default with it.
thanks for reply but how to make new connection.
Hello. What do you mean? You mean I can use it for a non-softbank account? (via 3g?) Of course, I suppose we could just delete the whole softbank account, and therefore it would not be able to "connect" via 3G, and we could connect via a wireless account, but then softbank mail would not work, right? I wonder if it is possible to just disable connecting to the internet via explorer.... any ideas?
@taicyber: i ran into a similar problem. sometimes while in my carrying case, my keitai would connect to the internet via internet explorer, and my monthly fee for internet usage was much higher than it should have been. so i took a couple steps. first, i changed the internet button on the front of the phone to a different function (that's apparently the button that often gets accidentally pressed). after that, i changed pie's (pocket internet explorer's) start page to a local file (ie. the help file). that step solved the majority of my problems. what was happening when it auto-connected was that yahoo.co.jp was the start page, and that page has HUNDREDS of little pics and ads that refresh every few minutes and drive those packet amounts up. if you make it a local file you'll no longer have those mystery packets being sent. and it doesn't affect your mms/sms in any way. having the dummy file as a start page made it safe for me to change the pie button back to it's default function of opening up pie.
also, just for reference, i don't think you have to worry about the phone being connected to the 3g network too much. unless a page that refreshes itself frequently is opened, then no data is sent. the only problem i run into with 3g being connected is that it kills my battery faster.
thanks shunsai. I have experience like you said. and I also changed the button and defalult.html(in /windows).But I am not sure if my phone will connect internet via other way.
Hey it might not be super helpful in this case, but for me I disable gprs using a piece of software called 'NoData'. it will let you quickly switch on / off data connections. Search the forums for NoData and you'll find links to it.
The issue sounds specific to Softbank the carrier though so YMMV.

Anyway to disable data conn on phone?

I leave data conenction off, but somehow I'm still using data from time to time. I don't have an unlimted data plan and so any usage is to much. I'm running dcd 2.3.2 vzw. I'd rather not disable data via VZW network in case I need data but normally would never use it.
Anything I can do to disable data connection on phone to stop completely any data being pulled OTA and be able to enable when/if I need it?
I use my wifi so I'd still want that to work, but this shouldn't be affecting my data connection, right?
Thanks everyone in advance?

What I did was go to settings, connections, connections, manage existing connections, data network, select data network, then edit, Next, delete #777 and then enter 1 then hit next, and finish.
From then on it will show you the login screen but cannot connect.
Hey man, I had this VERY issue with my xv6800.... You have 2 options.... You can call every month and ***** that the phone automatically connect and uses data by itself, which it does.... or you could delete your data connection setup but this will disable your MMS.... There is nothing on their end they can do.... I went thru this just like you are... SUCKS.... I ended up getting the unlimited data plan because: A) it allows me to game at work, Corp network is firewalled for the ports I need... B) FTP ports are also firewalled so I use the phones data.... works excellent.... I had to have them take 111 bucks off my bill the 1st month because the phone used 6.7 megs in 2 weeks by itself, then I got the 24 dollar 10 meg data plan, but when it went to 10 megs and I still had 2 weeks left to go, I called and had them add the unlimited plan..... My bill would have been 1400 bucks without the unlimited plan..... So now I USE THE CRAP out of the data side..... screw em......
You could also call VZW and ask them to put a DATA BLOCK on your account so that no matter what your phone will not be able to use data.
I deleted the data password (vzw) on my phone so whenever it tries to connect it asks for the password. I also changed the default "for programs that connect to the internet" to use work network instead of the data connection and then setup my mms to use the data connection to pull pictures from. I only use the data side for mms and wifi for everything else.
Cool - knew I wasn't the only one with this issue.
Thanks for all the suggestions. I'll see about getting vzw to credit me and I'll turn off the connection by changing the #777 or password.
Thanks everyone for your suggestions.
You can disable your connection in the registry. On the flip side I set mine to "Always on" in the registry.
Try this

I use an app called "NODATA" you open the app, select your "CDMA1X" or what ever and toggle it off. you can toggle it on when you need it by opening the app and selecting it. I don't have the link but I found it here. So you shouldn't have any trouble.

I've been using that program for a year now it's easy to use no need to keep entering ur password with the #777 method or having to edit ur registry everytime u want to go online... I live on US canada border and roaming charges were killing me first 2 months I had this phbone because it would bounce back and forth between verizon and telus... this proggie saved me tons of cash and hassles with telus... well worth the download
Completely disable 3g data connections forever, save wifi
This is my first contribution to xda-forums! I'm glad I can help at all when I've benefitted so much... Thanks to all!
NOTE: After the following steps, Modaco's Nodata doesn't even register that a data connection exists! For this reason, if you occasionally use 3g, you probably will want to use Nodata, and NOT the following solution. You just might have to open Nodata and disable the data connection every time you soft-reset.
I was finally able to completely 100% block the 3g data connection on my Verizon XV6800 (aka Mogul aka Titan) was the following three steps:
1. The key culprit is HTC_CM_Guardian.exe in the windows directory. I couldn't edit it or delete it via Total Commander file explorer, but I was able to rename it! This makes the OS unable to find the program when it tries to re-set the Data connection settings.
2. Under Settings > Connections > Connections > Advanced > "Select which networks are automatically used," hit "Select Networks."
3. Under "Programs that automatically connect to the Internet should connect using:" hit "New...".
4. Enter any name you want (mine's "nodata!") and leave all the other settings blank.
5. To be safe, you may have to delete the Verizon Or "Internet" Connection on the Tasks Tab of Settings > Connections > Connections. Save and exit.
Voila! Wifi, yes; 3g, no! No more nasty billing surprises.
Modaco's Nodata program is awesome, but the problem was that HTC_CM_Guardian.exe re-enabled the data connection every time I reset the phone. Plus, HTC_CM_Guardian.exe would also thwart any effort to block data via the "Connection Settings." By renaming HTC_CM_Guardian.exe and creating a "nodata!" connection that programs auto-connecting to the internet would try to use (and fail), we get three results:
1. Modaco's Nodata doesn't even register that a data connection exists! For this reason, if you occasionally use 3g, you probably won't to use this solution.
2. When you reboot, the OS is unable to mess-up your "Connection Settings", so
3. Unless you have an active wifi connection, programs will try to connect to the Internet using the "nodata!" settings, which, being empty, will fail, exactly as planned.
Hope it helps.

Automatic GPRS disconnect

Hi.
Got the Qtek 8500 Smartphone and Erofichs great Windows Mobile 6.1 on it.
Can anyone please tell me, how to configure the GPRS right?
The following thing happens:
If I open the Internet Explorer, surf, close it, GPRS remains ON.
Have to shut the connection manuelly down.
The worst thing, I want to automaticly download my emails every 30 min.
It works fine, but the GPRS connection remains still ON after the download endet. I dont want to shut it down every 30 min manually.
Is there any option to solve that?
Would be great if someone knows.
Thank you very much.

Thats normal behavior. GPRS is normally charged on traffic. So being online doesn't mean to transfer anything.
Bye
Yeah, but think about the battery

Sure but doesn't matter for me
I can't understand why there is no explicit "gprs connect" or "gprs diconnect button" by defaullt on Windows Mobile (Wm6 standard, at least).
(If gprs connection is the case)
Do you know why?
There are many situations where it is very important to handle with care internet connections
Was it so difficult to have similar behavior to PC connections?

Hey cassetto,
While I don't think there is an option to explicit connect (besides just going onto the internet which starts the connection), there IS an option to disconnect.
It was on my Windows Mobile 5 phone, so I have no doubt it's in WinMo6.
You just have to go into your Comm Manager and disconnect it from there manually. I did it all the time with WinMo5 and I'm still doing it all the time with WinMo6.1

Anyway...
I don't consider it an EXPLICIT gprs disconnection button and I can't understand Operating System logic.
Since I cannot put that button ON there (button is normally disabled while, for example, active sync or bluetooth buttons are not), I did not try to put it OFF there.
Moreover, that button has no name. Only when enabled and ON, it is named "data connection". In settings/connections, more than ten connections are listed. SMS Service, USB to PC, VPN and so on. Somebody could consider many of them "data connection".
Somebody could wonder which connection or how many connections are currently responsible of that button enabling.
Which one would I disable pressing "data connection" button in comm Manager? All? Only one? SMS Service?
If more than one data connection can activate that button (in the same time), I can't know what that button does. Maybe It disable button but I don't know how many data connections are disconnected (only gprs?)
If at one given moment the only thing that a button can do is "gprs disconnection" and moreover it is enabled by gprs connection (and only by gprs connection), it should be named "gprs disconnection"
If more than one data connection can activate it, but not more than one at the same time, it should be named according to the data connection name.
Too complicated?

Thats the point! You have to do it every singel time manually or it stays connected. As mentioned, I receive my mails every 30 min. So ill stick with the "allways on" situation or disconnect it manually every 30 min (which makes no sense at all)
why doesn't it disconnect if idle?
It seems such an obvious thing to do - if there's been no GPRS traffic for X minutes, drop the connection.
Has anyone got a way of implementing this?

Unless your plan charges you for GPRS connect time I can't imagine why you'd need to turn it off, I've never found having it on to be a problem or a major drain on the battery. I've had the 8500 about 18 months, use tmobile and have their data plan. Rather than turn it off why not just configure your applications for manual download? Just curious, what do you see that most of us don't?

Can you please explain the conversion method, from 60 seconds to "CacheTime"=dword:0000003c

"3C" is Hex for 60. You might try to substitute it with "05".
Does not work
Above registry hacks do not work on WM 6.1 (Xperia). When the device is in suspend mode, and it checks e-mail every 30 minutes, it doesn't disconnect.

HELP/Alert! New ALLTEL versions wont do wifi!?!?

This really really pi##es me off, as where I live I get 1x data, & usually use my home wireless (wifi).
Recieved the pro, and activated it. It seems disabled by being activated by alltel. I even stumped the blackberry adept person at the local store enough that they switched out the phone, I walked to next door (motel) used the free wireless (to prove the wireless would even function) then let him activate it and headed home (30+ miles into the wilderness). got home and again I cant get Crap wifi to work.
Home is wireless b, it connects, can be seen on the 'simple' 2 wire wireless appliance but the PRO, will not see or try to send data through it. turned off security and everything on the wireless for testing. I can check, but I know the pass for the motel, and I could try again, but am definitely sure that this AINT the issue--> again the phone wouldnt connect at the motel (least not the pre exchanged one) with me or the rep at Altel either, while it was activated and on alltel.
who to call? Any help out there?
my 6800 will still wifi, at anyplace there is a signal and that I know the passcodes or is open.
yes I asked this, at alltel-howard forums, but would think you guys here know more (on second thought, when I remembered about all the stuff you do here, I know I probably should've posted here 1st, but Im kinda mad at the moment!)
Pretty adept at computers, I do IS as my real job, anything I can do to help trouble shoot? yeah the 6800 has been flashed & I even noobed around with cooking a few time. appreciate any help you guys
i Have a touch pro and a touch diamond, both under 2 weeks old and the wifi works fine with both of them, maybe you should try a custom rom and see if they changes anything. but there is no reason it shouldnt work with the stock rom

goony,
Is it an Alltel? are you positive that wifi is working, not the "data" connection with alltel towers (cell call)? My proof is that if I goto my basment, I have no cell service so not any data connction, ONLY WIFI (that is where my wireless router is. that is when I found out the 1st time. Everything else looks right, on the phone it says it is connected, on the router I can see it on the connected devices list.
I have my issue that I believe, that it is some setting that Alltel is setting... like I said the phone would connect via wifi until the phone activated. When I activated (full unlimited data package is on this phone) the phone fully rebooted on its own, 3 times as if getting updated via data plan. Im not talking about the 1st time turn on customizations, those were done before I tested the wifi at the motel lobby... For instance, the volume control buttons - the display app were obviously modified, I am not positive what else was.
I'd LOVE to try custom rom, if I wasnt right in the period of time I can get my money back, or not. after that I will...
yes they are alltel, and to test the wifi i just connected it to my router and then turned of my alltel data and it stayed connected so i am positive the wifi works. you can still use a custom rom under your return period, if you want to return just relock it.
I wanted to double check myself sting to make sure i was realy getting wifi, so i connected and went to speedtest.net and did a speed test and sure enough it showed my isp as roadrunner(my home provider). Have you had this problem with multiple phones? are you checking the internet option when it connects? and do you have it diconnected from the pc? my wifi wont work on my diamond hooked to a pc.
Has nothing to do with alltel. Maybe with the rom or the phone. Now I hope you're not waiting for a pop up to show itself on the main screen asking if you want to connect because you could wait forever. Go to comm manager enable wifi/ go to start->settings->connections->wifi and make sure options are set to "all available." If you can even see wireless networks on the list, the wifi is functioning correctly and there is a router settings conflict. If you don't see networks on that list in wifi, then there is a rom/hardware problem.

Hey thanks!
But, it is the Stock shipped rom, I have my HTC 6800 right next to this one, connected and surfing the web, both show up when in the home WIFI router config as connected, yet the pro sends NO DATA to ie or opera, (cant locate any webpages) or any app that uses internet/data.Unless there is something I need to do with PRO that I never had to do with the 6800 (mogul) that I just flashed back to stock shipped rom, ready to sell on ebay...
what I dont know is, well, most of the people wifi to tether a laptop or something, I dont! Sure that will be neat in the future, but RIGHT NOW, Just I use WIFI when I am at home and dont even have signal or evdo near me... (remote locations that I live, the tower coverage sucks out here in ks...) Got to fix this soon, or this Beyotch is going back to alltel.
Another thing, this bad boy pulled this crap, as soon as alltel activated the device (so I could use it as my phone!) when it was NOT activated, the wifi worked (proven at the motel next door to the Alltel store I exchanged this phone). BTW, I was able to test it on the 1st phone shipped to me, while it was activated, it pulled the same thing, when he unactivated the phone, we could almost pickup the wifi from the motel next door (distance was the only issue I think now looking back) but seemed like a chip problem.
Where I got screwed was we believed the wifi to be bad on the 1st phone. So he got out a new phone, and before we activated it, I went and tested the wifi, it worked on the 2nd phone. I thought wall was fine, it worked. then I had him activate it, assuming that proved I will be able to use the wifi. So I leave the store thinking OK wifi works. I get home, and again unable to use my home networking wifi to open web or apps. unacceptable. Yet the 6800 does and still works flawlessly (as long as you slide the wifi sider on side to on {inside joke}).
follw me better now?
What brand router do you have? How many devices are wireless? And it connects to other locations but are you sending and recieving data? Try this link http://www.wmwifirouter.com/trial/ and install on 6800 if you are not normally around hotspots. This will test the t-pro's ability to send and recieve information via wifi. Now it is sounding like an IP address conflict.

Sweeny, Im in the houshold router (made by 2wire) I can see it (the Pro as well as the 6800) each get an ip. (I work In IT, so I know what you are talking about in ip conflicts, all that.) I have even set the router to manually setup IPs now, then set the ip inside the Pro, as well as the default gateway, dns all that.) I'm telling ya, it is more like it doesnt know the DNS or the gateway (just like I disable internet surfing on the computers at work that I still must use networking)
I copied the DNS and everything from a working laptop (ipconfig -all) on a wireless laptop today, and still as if it was disabled.
This weekend i will test the dang thing tethering with my notebook i'll bring home from work (use the pro as the internet access). if it wont tether either, then I think allHell is doing something. Again if the device is DE-Activated I will wifi... {I'll bet you $$}. I might call alltel, tomarrow night, and try that. I'll have them inactivate it and if it suddenly works, then the question is, what do I do with alltel? they dont have the right to disable hotspot usage do they?
I feel I feel the presence of VERIZON already in Alltel, Luke is turning to the dark side. NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!
You all thought I was off my crock...
http://www.htcwiki.com/thread/2073117/Touch+Pro+WiFi?t=anon lots of folks posting same problems it looks like.
Need that group of people who can create a kitchen, and hcak tomtoms, to help us with this PLEASE!
No I don't, think you're off your crock I just know how frustrating problems like this can be. Here is what I suggest you do. And if this doesn't work exchange the phone or try a different router. I know what you're thinking....not the router. Truth is might be. Its just like wireless adapters in wii's and ps3's they simply will not work with a handfull of routers even though not clearly documented.
Anyway, change router to static Ip's, safer anyway.
Specifiy gateway, primary and secondary dns, and limit your ip's within 100 available obtainables. Use a 64 bit wep encryption. Change the channel of your router's broadcast to 1 or 11. Use only simple gateway ip range, not pure server. If you need me to provide you with example settings then pm me because I do not want to broadcast them via forum
Good luck.
Dont take this the wrong way....but are you positive that you are disabling the DATA Connection in Comm Manager?
I have had the alltel touch pro since the second they hit the store. I have used 3 of them since and they all work perfectly on wifi. I primarily use wifi and use diamond tweak to activate the wifi standby so wifi stays connected in standby like data does by default and use modaco nodata to disable data as I live in a house that gets a very lowsignal from the tower and eats my battery superfast if I use data. I have a router in the house and one in my office detached from my home and when I had my mogul it often would not switch between routers successfully requiring me to manually connect more often than not. All the Touch Pros connect superfast and switch automatically. I am running mightyrom 4.12 and telus radio which is light years better than stock with signal, speed and batterylife, but even when I was on stock for about 3 months there were absolutely no wifi issues.

Not sure which of us you are asking this queston of...
Thanks, for the help so far...
I was having the same issue (Alltel and all).
I found this post in the MS forums:
http://social.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/windowsmobile/thread/561f18a8-5f64-4359-957e-adb003229f1d
Essentially, it says to "Navigate to START/SETTINGS/Connections Tab/Connections icon/Advanced Tab
Press Select Networks Button
At the top it says "Programs that automatically connect to the Internet should connect using:"
You want to press on the drop down and choose My Work Network"
You need to tell the system that the Work Network connects to the internet as well. While this doesn't seem like the ideal solution (there should be a faster way to switch it, or it should do it automatically depending on location), it did work for me. I'm sure there's a much more sleek solution out there, though.
Btw... I hope I'm posting this correctly. I'm more a reader than a poster.
Ooop... one more thing. Its non-sleekatude rests with the fact that when you want to switch between wifi and your data plan, you have to go through the whole process, and switch the active network from My Work Network to Alltell Wireless. This is where I was hoping for a better solution. As I say, it does work, but it seems like it should involve less hassle.
Might add this to the WIKI, I dunno but there could be a few more thousand users out there on ATT or SWB using the modem/routers that they shipped when you got DSL more than a year ago...
Everyone that has the older 2 wire brand, wifi modem/router that came with SBC (now ATT). Wierd I know. But Mine has just been replaced by the newer version of that modem/router. and I will be dammed, it works. but the phone wont work with the older ones. Mine was the 2WIRE 1000hw model. they are shipping new models, and finally the phone will work with the wifi on that new router.
Thought it might be nice to know...
alltel model uses wifi just fine
My TP from alltel works just fine with wi-fi all i ever do is turn it on and then select which connection i want to make ...really quite nice...maybe you need to exchange yours...
On further testing of my own setup, I'm thinking my issue was the router. I had done several fixes all at once, and cited the wrong fix as the working one. I happened to reset my router at the same time I did the above suggested fix.
I thought it had to be the device, as my HTC Apache never had an issue with the router, but after resetting the router, and going back to the original settings on the TP, I'm having no problems connecting to the network. I wish I could pinpoint the exact conflict between the two, but now that I have it working, I'm not messing with it.
My suggestion is to back up your router settings, reset the router, and see what happens. Or test your wifi on someone else's network.
Isolating a network conflict can be one of the least fun things to do, but from everything I've seen here and in other forums (and my experience with it) I'm going to say that's the issue, and not the TP alone.
I don't think it likes your router being wireless B, you should try it on a wireless G router before Ebaying it.

Wifi no longer visible after 6.5

I feel like I need to 1st explain that although I don't post here often I'm not an absolute noob. I load a new ROM about every 30 days and used Tierman before advancing to Sashimi. Ever since the 6.5 roms dropped I've been unable to see my Titan from ANY laptop/desktop. I'm looking for others with the same issue and/or if this is a known issue that has been resolved.
Tried RyanMogul6800 2.2 Heavy
Tried JUSTPCTECH 6.5 Rom
Tried an un-named 6.5 Rom prior to the 21501 release
Same issue on all of these roms, SSID/PPC not visible
Device is a 6800 Alltel branded on the Alltel network
WMWifirouter version is 1.35
Tried deleting the wifi listing on the pc's/laptops
Tried re-installing WmWifirouter
Tried rebooting everything
Tried changing hardware switch to control ringer on/off instead of wifi
Tried manually powering on wifi via Comm Manager
I know wmwifirouter started out testing here so I hope they see this post but I will be accessing my paid support with wmwifirouter to submit a support ticket.
Has anyone else experienced this?
What did you do to fix it?
Try going into settings, connections, Wireless LAN, change power mode to best performance. Then go into settings, connections, wifi and if any connections are in there delete them. Make sure no connections are attempting to connect. Now turn on wifi switch and go back into wifi settings. Pick to see ad hoc only and create new. Make a name and make it an ad hoc connection, pick open connection no security protection. Finish. Now using wifi on a laptop/desktop refresh the wifi and you should now see your connection. Quick tip when using WmWifirouter. Make sure nothing is connected to your PPC's adhoc connection. Have the wifi switch enabled BEFORE turning on WMwifirouter, Once its connected you can then use a desktop or laptop and connect to the PPC, and dont turn the WIFI OFF until you have quit WMwifirouter. I use the network plugin to access shared folders on my PC to transfer music etc.. Also make sure the wifi on the PC is not set up to share its own connection. That will interfere with the networking with the wifi on the PPC. Let me know if you get wi-fi working.
Thanks and I'm trying that now..only thing is I've been using WMWifirouter cince before it was 1.0 and it always worked fine. While i'm trying your suggestion is their anything different with 6.5 that would have me manually connecting.
I'm used to setting up wmwifirouter in the office and letting 2 otherppl access it and just GO! This happens on Vista, XP, and Windows 7 (I'm an MSDN subscriber). Anyhow trying your suggestions and let me know about 6.5 if you goet a sec.
Thanks
Tried it and my network showed up for a sec but when I tried connecting it timed out and then never showed up again. USB to 3G works fine and I tried ur suggestion on Vista & XP. Still pokin away. Hope sumthin works out!
Just a side note. My wifi IP on the 6800 is always all 0's 0.0.0.0 Shouldn't it be 192.16.3.1 and DHCP is enabled BTW
I'm experiencing a similar problem and have tried several 6.5 builds, including my own from the ppckitchen. WIFI will work for some time and then stop. It will work again for a short time after rebooting but then will stop once more.
So after JustPCTechs (I prefer Ryans Rom) rom i am back on RyanMogul's heavy & it's still not working. I like many people looked at others with this issue like it's something they are doing wrong but I am an EVERY DAY user of wmwifirouter. I cancelled my itnernet at the house simply because Alltel's unlimited was so fast. I even had the kid's Xbox 360 running through it.
So I'm still stuck with no wifi for wmwifirouter. Even after Ryan's suggestions. I know other people have this problem. I just wish you guys would speak up so we can collect data on this issue and resolve it for real.
No disrespect to the very talented individuals whom have assisted me so far. You and your work are greatly appreciated.
I'm also verifying the problem exists. Also I cannot connect my home pc's internet through the USB cable to the phone anymore. I have verified this same problem with all 3 of the 6.5 roms I've tested. I tried ryan's suggestion but to no avail. Looks great though!!
For the issue of the PPC not being able to use your PC's internet through USB cable you may want to try going into settings/connections/connection settings/select network. Make the top drop down menu My work network and the bottom drop down menu make your Carrier ex:Cricket, MetroPCS, etc.. That way should use your WAP when unplugged and use the PC's home connection when plugged in. That would then be normal operation.
SOLVED:
So I was poking around in the 6800 and I never use wifi because Alltel is SOOO fast. I saw a saved network connection ON THE 6800 to wmwifirouter. I thought it was odd since I asked wmwifirouter to dynamically create the network each time instead of storing it.
After doing that I was able to consistently see the 6800 from any device.
So Comm Manager / wireless Lan/ delete wmwifirouter
I've had the usb issue a long time ago and it is not the same.

If you notice i already said to delete existing wi-fi connections. So my first responses were your solution. you just overlooked it.. take care glad your sorted out.
I guess I did and let me make this real clear for anyone reading this later on. Wmwifirouter creates a wifi connection ON YOUR PPC DEVICE - TO YOUR PC DEVICE.
So when people tell you to delete all wifi connections and you delete the one on your laptop/desktop don't forget (like i did) to delete it on the ppc as well. I never knew thats how wmwifirouter worked. Learn somethin new every day. Thanks to all that helped.

In my instructions it is telling you to delete the connections off of the PPC.. Any connection on your PC would not automatically connect unless u had a matching ad hoc connection on ur PPC. I provided the fix and u overlooked/misunderstood it. I am glad you got ur wifi back up and running.
