I have read the information in post " dead hermes? corrupted radio? Post comments here" and follow the instruction "Device is stuck in bootloader mode".
My problem is, I can´t get a connection to my device (mtty), I have on 4 different PCs (XP or Vista Operation System) every time the same information --> "USB Port can´t not open".
My Question is, is the Bootloader damage ?
History:
The hermes are function well and I get yesterday a problem with frozen the Device. I solve the problem and do a hard reset, but after Installation the Device boot and stay now in the HTC Screen. (Look attachment). If i hardreset the device a see the tri-color Boot-Picture for a 0,5 sec, but no numbers.

Yes I do, but I have the Problem with the USB Connection (mtty). You have any Idea for the USB Problem?
The Hermes now is function with USB. I install a new XP with SP2 on my PC and I have a connection.

I want to flash the Device, but every Solution STOPT by 1%, "the image file is corrupted". Any Idea how to change the Bootloader to a compatibility Bootloader over mtty?
What ROM you trying to flash? It has to be a Hermes ROM or you're gonna end up with a permanent brick.
Have you installed Hard SPL V7? If you have you can use the sd card method to install the ROM.
If its a Hermes ROM and you keep getting the "the image file is corrupted" message, good, it means you won't have a brick at the end as the file is corrupted and could result in a brick. Either download the ROM image again or download something else. That error message is there to save your Hermes from brickage.

to downgrade my device to SPL1.06 and IPL1.01 using file HERM_SPL1.06_Only_CustomRUU.rar
however, once i flash my device, it lists that I have SPL1.06 and IPL1.00, not 1.01. I have tried the flash using 'SPL-1.04/1.10 - SPL - 1.09 Bootloader' and also 'Force using SSPL' with no luck.I am running a hermes 100 but I still have WM6. i just thought about this, but do i need to downgrade to a signed cingular/att signed ROM before this will work? I need to be running IPL1.01..any help or ideas please?

now the device boots and connects toactivesync fine, but when i try to flash a radio rom, WM rom, ipl/spl update (2.10, 1.06 doesnt matter) the device reverts to the tri-color screen after verifying the information on your hermes, but then is not able to update. it is saying that the connnection can be made to my device, is this because of ipl 1.00??? please help!!!

ok the problem now is that it willnot update anything anymore... as i try the update process the phone goes into the bootloader mode and shows

while the computers says 'verifying the information on your device.' I have tried complete packages such as 'RUU_Hermes_CINGULAR_WWE_3.62.502.3_6275_1.54.07.00_108_UOOS_SVN05_Ship.exe', and also packages with seperate ruu wrapper such as what is found in 'Hard-SPL-V7.zip.' I donot know why the update process freezes at this step...please this is really killing me.

moving on... I found the 'fix' for this in the wiki, however when using the 'mtty.exe' file it says to "select USB" from the dialog box but I cannot get an option for anything else except COM 1-4 in the diag box... what do i need to do to enable the USB option???? and yes i disabled activesync like it says obviously.
its like the device cannot be recognized by usb while [the device is] not actually running windows... argh!!!!
Sometimes you need to restart your hermes and than run the mtty.exe.
I need some expert help please! I have a Hermes (Orange SPV M3100) that I want to flash with a custom ROM but I am having a problem with ActiveSync losing the USB connection at the point that the device enters the bootloader screen. I am also unable to flash using the SD card method. I have flashed a Nike without any problems and I'm usually good with technical stuff so I think there must be something extra I need to do that I have missed. I hope that somebody can spare the time to help me solve the problem. Here are the details:-
I am trying to follow Mr Vanxs guide to flashing the ROM in windows Vista so that I can upgrade it from WM5 to WM6 and apply a custom ROM to load a new TouchFlo style OS. The first step in this process is to flash HardSPL using this guide but my problem with the USB connection won't let me do that. I have unlocked the device using Hermes Unlocker 3a so it is (or should be) SIM and CID unlocked and be SuperCID with HardSPL-1.40 (so maybe I can miss the Mr Vanxs HardSPL step?).
So, when I run the RUUWrapper.exe, choosing the Force option and accepting the messages I eventually get a prompt on the device. At this stage ActiveSync is connected. I click Yes on the device and it enters the bootloader screen which shows 'USB' on the tri-color screen but ActiveSync immediately drops the USB connection. The update then waits for a while then fails with Error 260. I have to do a soft reset to get the device out of the bootloader screen. When the device reboots the Activesync connection comes back to life.
I thought that I maybe don't need to HardSPL first so I tried just going straight to the ROM upgrade but I get the same problem.
Also, I tried following this link to flash using the SD card instead of USB but when I get to step 6 I don't see a confirm message - just the usual bootloader screen (it doesn't help that the screen shot doesn't appear on the link so I'm not even sure if I'm getting the correct screen). Any ideas?
I realise that an answer to this probably already exists somewhere on the forum but I have spent hours trawling through posts and I can't find it so I hope somebody has come across this before and can help me out.

Don't worry I solved it by rebooting my PC, skipping the HardSPL and flashing with an official ROM (HTC_TyTN_WWE_3.54.255.3_6275_1.48.00.10_108). I can now apply custom ROMs.
Hello, I am in serious trouble! I got a brand new HTC Athena with Windows Mobile 5.0. I succesfully upgrade it to Windows Mobile 6.0.
All was OK.
Than I was interested to move into Windows Mobile 6.1 and possibly 6.5. At first I did the Athena unlock (3 step process) and all went OK: Antenna 1.5.0, SPL 1.2 OLI....
THAN I DID MY ERROR! I try to upgrade my 6.0 ROM with the Micky 6.1 cooked file with SPL 3.5. After a 92 percent upgrade, the ROM crashed and now I always get a nasty black screen with few lines (No 3 color bands!). When I try to upgrade again the same ROM or ROM for SPL 1.2 I get an error (ID mismatching). I guess the only solution is a hard and full reset of the Windows. But doing only a hard reset with the PDA will NOT change my error message and I will keep see this nasty black screen and I cannot load the Windows ActiveSync application-
I am totally lost. Help please. Any tool for a true full restore/recover??? (I did NOT make any backup!).

Hello, those links are basically for corrupted wifi antenna files.-
In my case my HTC Athena crashed the Windows 6 ROM while I was attempting to upgrade, after unlocking the phone, the Athena from version 6.0 to version 6.1
Are you sure I can use the post #33 also for my specific trouble?

this is also to repair your bootloader-infos
if you look at your bootloaderscreen, you will see ATHE100, IPL, ATHE100, SPL. if not, you have to repair it
make sure you flashed the right rom, spl 1 or 3.5
How can the bootloader get repaired?
yes use that link, post #33. fixes both wifi and modelid problems and bootloader problems when you got stuck at 92% of the flashing process.
Cannot re flash ROM
Please help! I tried the unlocker and it failed at 92% and since then I have no WM6. Then I tried to flash the Michy WM6.5 and that failed. I was getting model id errors so I did the mtty and mac1 fix which was succesful. However all I can get now is a grey screen on boot-up. I can get to the bootloader screen and it displays ATHE100, IPL-v2.02, ATHE100, SPL-v1.20. Olipro. From what I have read on the forum at this stage I should run a RUU to flash a WM6 ROM but all that I try can't connect because no OS running to connect with Activesync? Is there a way to flash from the bootloader? The other option seems to be putting an image and flasher on a miniSD but I can't find clear instructions for this or which files?
Please ignore - my battery wasn't charged enough. Replaced battery and recovered device.

However, after I have disconnected the usb cable of the Athena from the PC and try to reboot it, I got again the exact same, nasty, dark screen with blue strips.....:-( It means that my damaged firmware has NOT been fix and in fact I am still NOT able to boot WM successfully!
PLEASE HELP. It is 3 months with this problem and I cannot use my device.:-(

first, how can I get the mac address of my device? It is NOT written anywhere in the Athena parts (checked in the battery bay and so on.....), and so when I run mtty i am in trouble! I have used a mac address got from my company's manager, but not sure it is ok to use it with the Athena!

Can you tell what you've actually done after you've changed ROM with Mtty?
I done the thing with Mtty but just as you described when I reset it now I still get the grey screen. And if I try to update ROM it fails again on 92%
where did you find the upgrade from wm5 to wm6?

If you're using XP - untick "Allow USB Connections" in activesync on pc. Put Hermes into bootloader and run the flash for Hard SPL V7. If this works then try an sd card flash for a different rom. No guarantees it will work but at this point, what have you got to loose?

what ROM are you trying to start? I was stuck on HTC logo too, when I tried to start a ROM without installing Striped ROM first, which was highly needed. So I done hard reset(three color screen), and flashed again.
For starters, put in bootloader, connect to PC (1st untick "Allow USB Connections" in activesync) and run Hard SPL V7. Install it on your Herms and hope it works because otherwise you are in for a whole heap of hairpulling frustration...
If you get Hard SPL onto your Hermes then use the sd card method to flash a new rom...
You could have avoided this by doing a little research instead of going full pelt into flashing, you Hard SPL BEFORE you get into trouble, NOT AFTER....

I have a similar problem with a T-Mobile branded TyTn from a friend of mine who thought flashing ROMs without putting device into HardSPL would be clever.
The devices has also IPL-1.04 and SPL-2.03 and from the bootscreen it looks like WM5 should have been installed. I also get the "NO GSM" message and I REALLY tried every fking method but without success.
I even created a Goldcard (and verified on another device it's working, level 0 instead FF) and tried to flash several ROMs (also Cingular WM5 ROM and original german T-Mobile ROM) but no luck.
I also tried to run HardSPL V7 but as far as I remember it just said it cannot connect.
Funny thing: HardSPL V9 DOES start flashing and on the PDA and the PC the bar shows 100% but some moments later it says "Could not update" (or something like that).
I even tried different mtty methods from several posts from the forum (erasing the NAND on different ways, qtek loader method with erasing the first blocks) but I'm really really frustrated now and I believe there is no solution here?! (device has no guarentee)
So, if someone has ANY hint or useful information write it down or send me a PM.
I gladly appreciate your help and hope for a solution!
