Hi, So I Dropped My HD (I Know, Shame On Me ) And It Has A Chip In The Middle Of It, Its Ok When The Lights Off But As Soon As Light Hits It, It's Really Visible And Its Annoying Me, Anyone Know Any Effective Way Of Fixing It?
Any Help Greatly Appreaciated
So you chipped the LCD?
You may be able to get a plastic 'filler' but to be honest i just do not think it would look right, you would be best to buy a new lcd if possible. but $$$
insurance
your insurance may cover accidental damage, check it out

I've got a *very* small scratch on the screen but it's noticeable when the device is tilted. I was wondering if there are any products out there that'll remove the scratch EVEN IF it takes away from the "touchability" of the screen. Is there anything out there that'll help me?
Im gonna say no but im not for sure on that but to buff out the screen will probably ruin it. Screen protectors are a great invention lol.
You may be able to put some kind of filler in it? but thay would be risky and probably void your warranty.

You could try Displex, but I doubt that would work at this point. Pay the $50 insurance when the next issue arises and get a new one.
I would suggest a auto paint shop as a very fine cutting compond will do this, BE AWARE THIS WILL MORE THAN LIKLY STOP YOU TOUCHSCREEN WORKING
You might try this
When Palms first came out there were no screen protectors. What we use to do is use a high quality acrylic floor wax. Have not used it in years but I would guess it still works.
Hi
I have some doubts, I want to replace all the chase of my HD2 and searching I see this
http://cgi.ebay.es/HTC-TOUCH-HD-T82...wItemQQptZPDA_Accessories?hash=item3c9dbac865
Well, I see one thing that makes me doubt.
COVER US?
This over is only valid for the HD that sells on US or are the same for all the world and will be valid for my European HD?
thanks!
I have purchase from these guys and the products are good. The one problem you'll have is replacing the screen cover. The screen is basically sealed to the front chasse and you most likely will break it removing it. And, if you don't, then the digitizer is really sensitve and that will be damaged.
kersh have you received your unit?
I've bought my casing replacement here
http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=260344301669
and it fits like a charm

this is not true (see thread on replacing the lcd screen). There are some holes in the chassis which are - in my opinion - indeed designed to push out the lcd without destroying it. Of course, if you're clumsy you will break it - but this is true anyway and if you feel you are - go directly to a repair service and you'll save money.
Hi there!
I didn't put a screen protector on my TD2 -and over time it has become more scratched than expected. I'd like to replace the front display -I guess that is the one called the digitizer, or?

What are the chances for getting an original HTC at ebay?
Did anybody do this replacement with success?
Cheers
No one?
check this out too!!!
more expensive and not a word about oem product!!!
So... oem digitizer with just 19$ .... hmmmm! don't know!!!!
Perhaps this guide can help you.
Hopefully it's not permanently attached to the LCD like the ATT Fuze is. I took my Fuze apart and destroyed the LCD while trying to install a new digitizer. Apparently they use some sort of extremely strong glue between the digitizer and LCD...
Hopefully not.. But I think it's only glued to the frame.. I don't really know what kind of glue to use for the new one though...

Sorry to tell you all that the Digitizer is permanently attached with LCD. I know this because I was drop my D2 and went to service center. They change to front cover (case) which was broken when droped. when I get it back they give me back my old front cover and I notice that the digitizer is stick with over part.....
When I ask the service's counter. They told me that they have to change the new digitizer because it come with whole part.. not saparated.
Sorry for my english....
Hi Guide144, you say that when you got the digitizer back it sticked with the 'over part'. To my ears that sounds like the FRAME and not the LCD? Are you sure that it's also attached to the LCD?

Sorry for lag of my understanding, Yes the digitizer is stick with front frame, not a LCD. In my case, I ask the service to change my front cover because it broke and they change the front cover + digitizer.... because it stick together.
Hope this would clear all out.
Hi guys,
i replaced today the broken digitizer of my topaz.
Got one for $60 from ebay, with a screen (i wasn't sure if it was a screen problem or digitizer so i got both.)
you need to unstick the old one from the housing and attach the new one. i didn't use extra glue/stick , since the old one was left on the casing.
cheers
Thanks mistral82cy! Thanks for sharing -now I feel a little more up to going ahead with the operation
Hi! Could you please tell me how much the service center charged you to get the new cover and digitizer installed?
I've to change mine, as well!
Thanks a lot
I would suggest finding the parts list for the phone and finding out exactly what digitizer is needed then buy one online from somewhere such as e-bay. I did this with my G1 replaced it myself and it worked wonderfully. Research before you buy otherwise you might end up buying the wrong one or a clone which doesnt work as well
I dun it myself, buying one digitizer from ebay, getting the old one out was a little tricky , but appart from that it was easy(and i had to do it again, as i dit not secure it properly and there was dust comming underneath the screen from the sides. Any questions you could ask, but it is pretty straight forward.
pistonripper changed his housing, so he would have also replaced his digitizer, so you might want to check with him

If you want to buy one, this would be a good choice

replace digitizer on your own!
Hello everyone!
My digitizer broke last week, because i droped my Diamond!
But don't worry I am a rookie in technical things and I managed it to replace my digitizer on my own.
Don't waste money on repair charge from repairshops! Ok... you loose your garantie but the Cellphone is allready old. The new HD2 is already available!
Just buy the digitizerscreen at ebay... i've paid 60 € and then use this manual:
http://www.pdacenter.ru/razborka/htc-touch-diamond2/
Now it works like before.
Bye Ghostina

It's a bit hard to see on the photos but if its new can you not return it? if not then you need to look closely between the digitizer and the screen and see if the damage is just the top layer or the screen, if it is the top layer then just replace your digitizer!

Out.
Seriously.
As always this site is a big help. Just ordered the items, and thanks to the guide I'm fairly confident I will pull it off. For me the bottom 2cm's of the screen have shifted about 1cm to the left somehow. The digitizer still works "perfectly" but it's kinda hard to hit the right buttons like that
So the glass screen on my Transformer Prime is shattered but the LCD and digitizer is 100% working. I've been doing research trying to find a replacement glass and I see there's version .3 and 1.0, Which one do I need? How can I tell? And does it matter? I thought I read somewhere that if you get ver 1.0 and the x-axis is backwards there is a way to re-calibrate the system.
I hope that you can send it back to asus or get bit fixed in a shop and it doesnt cost you too much money . but im here to tell you that its going to cost, that glass is expensive word to the wise do not break the TF201 glass because you may have to buy another tablet.
How handy are you? Are you able/willing to dis-assemble your Prime? If you don't think you have the skills-set, you will almost definitely break your Prime worse by trying to replace the digitzer yourself. If you *do* think you've got the skills, then it's merely probable that you'll break your Prime worse. I have replaced my digitizer and LCD, and it is not simple. The LCD is very VERY delicate when you disassemble.
You'll need to search the threads here for digizer replacement info. There's sufficient information. Short answer: You need to open your Prime and look at the digizer's ribbon cable. The version will be silkscreened on the mylar ribbon cable. This is how you will know if you have v0.3 or v1.0. Getting the wrong digitizer will invert the left/right when you replace. This will make using the touch-screen practically unusable. Fortunately, the vendor that I bought the wrong rev. of digitizer from was very willing to do a refund. I had the foresight to bench-test the new digitizer before trying to actually install.
I understand there's a firmware hack available to correct for the inversion if you get the wrong rev. of digitizer. I'm pretty certain you'll need to unlock and/or root your tab to apply this. I was not willing to do either to my Prime.
Once you get to the installation, you'll see that the digitizer and the LCD are in a sort of sandwich with a plastic bezel inbetween. The digizier is foam-taped (very sticky) to the bezel. The LCD is foam-taped (even more sticky) to the other side of the bezel. The bezel has spurs on it that connect to sliding locks accessible thru the docking port holes. This is what locks everything together.
When trying to remove what remains of your digitizer glass from the bezel, you run a substantial risk of breaking the LCD. Did I mention how friggn' fragile that thing is?
You might be better off just bying a bricked Prime and just swapping the entire screen. 'Problem with that is that you'll have a hard time knowing which rev of the digitizer will be on the unit you're buying. 'No easy way to know that I'm aware of. Perhaps Asus support can help you to figure out based on serial number or something... I dunno. I *do* know that Asus support sucks donkey-balls. I love my Prime but hate that company's post-sale support. (Wanted me to do an RMA to get replacement rubber feet for my dock).

Thank for the help, I planned on buying the part and then taking it to a reputable shop that we have here on base to fix it. That way if they break it they can buy me a new one. They wanted $200 for parts and labor. But they said if I brought the glass they would do it for $50 and I asked the guy questions about the adhesive and he was knowledgeable with the TF201. I was seeing if there's a way I could save a few bucks but no big deal. I guess I'll just drop it off tomorrow.
Thank you everyone for the help!
This is A very interesting & helpful thread I hope that this can help someone else who has this problem. Please let us know of your TF201 gets fixed.
$50 is a good price to do the work for you. With what I know now, I'd have paid this to have it done by someone else. Still though, if you're going to buy the digitizer glass yourself, you're in the quandry of figuring out what rev. you need, v0.3 or v1.0. You really want to get the right one. Short of disassembling yourself to be able to examine the ribbon cable, options are few.
Perhaps you can call Asus Support, give them your serial number, and ask which rev your unit has. Perhaps they'll give you a truthful answer. Perhaps they wont.
'Not sure that your repair shop will be keen on the idea of opening your prime for you to identify then order the glass youself to undercut their $20(ish) margin on getting the glass for you.
Dear xda community,
recently I've found a perfectly working Galaxy S3 in the trash, only the front glass was broken.
I removed it with the help of my heat gun and put a replacement glass on.
I'm afraid that the lcd somehow got damaged in the process.
Would someone be willing to take a look at this?

I really hope I can fix this somehow with the help of you :highfive:
Thanks in advance

Looks like you had the heat gun too close / too hot / on the phone for too long.
You've damaged the LCD's and the only fix is to replace the LCD and digitizer pair.
Probably not what you wanted to hear, Sorry!
