Hi Guys!
After rooting my hero g2 i put on a new rom, this one... romraid.com/paul/hero/3.1-update-hero-modacocustomrom-core-signed.zip followed all the steps on the site and when i'd finished and rebooted the hero the Hero screen came up and the wee android waved at me, then the screen came up with "screen locked" and when i tried to swipe it to unlock it wouldnt move, i also noticed there was no signal to the phone, after rebooting it it did the same thing again but this time i managed to swipe and unlock it, it then had the loading circle in the centre of the screen but this froze and then the Hero and HTC startup screen came on again, again, it would unlock if i was quick and the timer circle started and again froze, then went back to the Hero and HTC screen and it just keeps on repeating this.
I have to pull the battery to switch it off. Any help would really be appreciated, there isnt much about technical stuff here (cos i'm a noob at this) but if theres anything you need to know to identify the problem and hopefully give me an answer, Please! ask, i'll let you know, oh! and there's now never a signal (although the correct time came up) the signal bars have an X across them but i usually get 3 bars.
Nothing happens when i try to connect to PC
Any help really would be appreciated.
Thanks
First of all.
1. Did you wipe before flashing the custom ROM?
2. Did you follow any advice on particular versions of the Radio that may be required for your ROM?
3. Are you using a GSM Hero? You said Hero G2, which sort of implies that it may be a T-Mobile G2 Touch and thus GSM, but it is worthwhile checking!
Regards,
Dave
The following steps should be considerable:
1, Wipe your phone(If you don't know what that is, search "Recovery" first. Such action will make you lose ALL YOUR DATA). Madaco do not force wipe your phone but if you don't do so, it stuck there just like yours.
2, Flash madaco rom a second time (don't wipe AFTER it, wipe BEFORE flashing it.)
3, Boot your phone, your contacts should be there if your login to gmail account and once synced them before.
Good luck
Hi, yes i did a wipe before flashing as told to in the guide. My phone is a Hero G2 Touch uk GSM on T-mobile, i didnt have anything to do with radio, could that be the problem?
thanks guys
Hi, is there any way i can set the phone back to original, as it was before i put on the new ROM? or will i need to do something else? this is my first android and my first attempt at loading a custom ROM and this happened, so i'm really not sure how to go about things, i know you guys are experts in this game but i'm just starting out, if anyone could give me some detailed help, i would be very grateful. We all gotta start somewhere!
Thanks guys.

Well, Paul @ MoDaCo strongly suggests updating to the latest radio for MoDaCo 3.1 (see his post here), so it is certainly worth a go if you still have the stock radio that shipped with your G2 Touch.

So after having my Mogul for quite sometime, I figured it was time to upgrade the ROM which includes the GPS, etc etc. I followed all the instructions to the "t" and when I go to update it, the phone goes to the tri-color and says "USB" at the bottom...but on my computer, it stays stuck at 0%.
I've left it go for almost 30 minutes. I end up having to shut down the update and reboot my phone. Luckily my phone wasn't affected at all. (whew!) I've tried this three times and all end up being stuck.
I'm new to all this, so ANY help would be greatly appreciated. I've searched for this same occurrence but have not read about any resolutions to the problem.
Thanks for any help!
Anyone have any suggestions?
Right now I have ROM version: 2.09651.3
I have downloaded a ROM for the Quest 'version' of the Mogul which is 3.35.656.2....will this work?
I dont get why it wont update and install the ROM.
Any help is greatly appreciated!
what version of bootloader are you using?
if its not giving you an error try letting it go overnight. Maybe its just going REAL slow.
Other than that, try one of the intermediate ROMs first, or try re-downloading the ROM and going from that.
The process is pretty simple, sync, backup anything important, establish activesync/MWDC connection, run the RUU, press yes several times, restore backup/resync.
Did you ever unlock the phone? The sprint ROMs wont load with an unlocked phone, AFAIK.
not sure what you mean by version of bootloader....
As far as running reall slow, not sure, I might try that if nothing else works.
I'm going to try the 3.35 ROM and see if that works. So stupid that it is such an easy task, yet it doesnt work....and I never "unlocked" the phone...its basically factory straight from Sprint. Again, it was bought back in December 2007 so the ROM on it is pretty 'dated'
I'll let ya know what happens...
2.09... lol.
that rom was slooow. screen flickered.
lockups.
your problem is that you cannot use a rom from a different carrier unless you unlock first. Just get the latest sprint rom and flash it.
edit: perhaps i read your post wrong. do you have the sprint or qwest rom? the qwest rom will not work. the sprint rom should work fine providing the phone has not been unlocked with olipro 1.2. Check the bootloader version when in the tri color screen. if it says olipro 1.2 then you need to update to 2.4.
If it's stock then you should be good. you could try putting the phone into bootloader before running the ruu. sometimes this helps the connection since it doesn't mess with activsync. to get to bootloader hold power + camera and hit the reset button.
After thousands words, hundreds attempts I'm giving up and bringing up this discussion on this forum..I really hope your experience and deep knowledge of subject finally will help me..I live overseas and use to order HTC HD2 T-mobile for my friends and some times just for sale..It was my 7-th T-mobile HTC HD2 when I got problem with flashing custom ROM...I installed HSPL 2.08 and started to flash my usual custom ROM via USB for T-mobile 1024,I took out sim card and memory stick before flashing..When I finished I did a soft reset and got frozen STICK TOGETHER screen...Phone just stuck...Forgot to say that before flashing I format device with Task 29..So I format it again and flash one more time, process itself was successful , but again I got STICK TOGETHER and that's it...I decided to flash another radio, CORRECT one (50) special fot T-mobile 1024, after several updates error phone just died..I got a brick, I couldn't even go to bootloader mode..I reanimate device with JTAG, and tried almost all official ROMs, I flashed them via usb, using memory card..Sometimes during flashing it stopes and I have to reboot, sometimes i got a sign on screen that update is completed, but when I turn device on nothing happened..I tried MTTY method, didn't help...I don't really know what to do now..May be I missed something important but as I said I'm not a noob already, and have red tonnes of information regarding flashing ROMS... I had similar issues, it turned out to be a haware problem. HTC replaced the main board in the phone.
sorry to hear that
Just a 杯具
Yeah, you either need a new motherboard or use JTAG to reflash the bootloader..

Hi All,
I have a HTC HD2 TMobile USA. I'm experimenting some issues when rebooting the phone.
The phone works fine but when I reboot it, it stucks (lots of time) in the bootloader screen. Sometimes, after rebooting several times it works. Other times, I have to hard reset and then it works again.
I tried the following and it didn't fix the problem:
* Flash new radio (now 2.15.50.14)
* Flash new ROM (now last Energy with build 29xxx)
Any thought around this issue?
Thanks,
Pipaman
Please help with this issue.
If you need any clarification just ask me but the issue really exist and I cannot send the phone to the service because I'm in a different country.
If I was you I would firstly Reinstall your T-Mobile stock ROM follow by a Hard reset and than reinstalling a Custom ROM follow by a Hard reset.
I don't get in what way that is different to restore the TMobile original ROM. I did that several times before installing a new ROM.
I did that:
* I flahed a stock rom: Now I'm back to stick together screen.
It was working fine until I reboot after a couple of days. Then, it doesn't start again: stuck in 'Stick together' screen.
It's very weird because if I hard reset the phone it works again but it's impossible to live with a phone that cannot be restarted.
I tried changing the SD card to see if that was the problem and the same: after some time using the phone I cannot restart it.
i have t_mobile also and this thing happend to me after flashed back from wp7. and android,....i did task 29 then frelash custome rom .reflash radio.reformat sd,took my sim out and clean it,and now its good, dont know if this thing will back, hope not ; )
I tried that but the same. After using sometime the phone it doesn't reboot again. I tried everything here, I'm near to throw it to the wall

Just a question, do you have good battery connection? are the pins in normal state?
Thank you for your answer.
Yes, all the battery pins are fine. To clarify this point: if I hard reset the phone it works fine until I use it normally. I mean, if I reboot the phone after hard reset it reboots perfect.
However, if I start using it installing any stuff, set-up facebook profile or email accounts, the phone works fine until I reboot it.
Now, I'm using a stock ROM:
TMOUS_3.14.531.1
Radio 2.15.50.14_2
I tried different ROMs and different Radios and it's exactly the same: after using a couple of days if I reboot it, it will stay in the bootloader forever until I hard reset it again.
I found that if I don't configure facebook profile the phone lasts more but it's very weird and annoying.
Hey i got the same problem as you did. It's behavior is erratically. Given the fact that the phone is out of the box. . dude i didn't mod. I feel uncertain using such device when it can go back to "stick together screen" at anything. If i were you, I would just send the device for replacement. That's the reason why people buy iphone. I can see there are tremendous info flowing around here, but ppl seems too busy with developing, no one seems to care about troubleshooting.
Good to hear that I'm not alone with this issue. Unfortunately, I've bought the phone in the US in a trip and I'm in Argentina now so replacement is not a possibility
I understand now why people buy iPhone even. My problem is that I like to hear FM Radio and in my country the best GPS maps are for Garmin that has WM support.
For me this phone was exactly what I wanted. Of course, if it works!
At this point I tried everything: different Radios, different ROMs, not installing anything, etc. but it always happen again.
Now, I try not to reset the phone and I'm very careful to charge it everyday! It looks like I bought a tamagotchi.
What is the SPL version in Bootloader mode?
I'm using SPL 2.8 but the same issue was happening with the default bootloader.
I am just a bit confused, you say you have SPL 2.08(.0000 or .HSPL) and a 3.14 TMOUS ROM.
If that is the case then the RAM would be very low and possibly running Facebook would freeze it.
I'm using:
SPL 2.8 (I cannot verify exactly the version because I don't want to reboot the phone )
OS Version: 21913.5.0.94
Manila: 2.5.20181424.0
ROM: 3.14.531.1
Radio: 2.15.50.14
Protocol: 15.42.50.11U
I identified that Facebook was generating some lack of stability so I don't use it at all, not even to show the photos in the contacts.
I tried to use different ROMs but the stuck at bootloader was the same and I got some problems when the phone became locked: I was unable to unlock it so I had to reboot and guess what happened in the bootloader (I tried Energy ROM with both OS versions, I tried also Task29 before flashing)

BINGO. your absolutely right about that.
Issues with hanging and rebooting have been popular and if you try sd card ROM installation and "RSA radio fail" comes out while flashing then its probably a hardware problem and theory is that it is from heat so advice, get a replacement. I think there is a batch of hd2 phones that have faulty manufacturing
I've been searching on how to completely restore my (T-Mobile) HD2 on this forum for a while and haven't came to it, so sorry if I'm repeating any threads.
Basically I'm fairly novice in flashing and things in that nature. I've been flashing updating Energy ROMs on my HD2 for about six months since I got the phone. Which was fairly simple to do. Since WP7 ROMs, I've switched over to flashing those. The problem is that 99%, it'll flash fine, then won't get past the boot screen. And on the rare occasion it does get past it, I can't turn it off, or else I'll have to trying getting past the screen 1000 more times to be successful. I think I have all the requirements to run WP7, but not exactly sure.
So I would like to know what to download and flash/ install for it to be as if I bought this from T-Mobile today.
Thanks!
I need help with this too..I craked my screen and am going to send it to t-Mobile so they can send me a new one, but I want to put it to factory reset. Ive looked all over cant find them...the post a couple up...links are dead
you do realize that if you cracked your screen your warranty is already void. it doesn't matter what software you are running at this point.

Sorry for MY late reply, but I put this phone away for a while and now my dad wants to use it. I've gone though the steps, but I can't get past "6. Hold the volume down key and power on your phone. As soon as the coloured screen changes to grey, RELEASE volume down." It never turns grey. I'm one step from taking this phone and throwing it out my window to see it shatter.

I have done a dozen of flashings on my Tmobile HD2 and works fine so far. Thanks to XDA forum all the tools I need are available right here on XDA !!! You just to search them out yourself (sorry I don't have the links ....... ).
I suppose you know how to flash your phone so I will not explain details how to do it.
In brief, to install WP7 this is what I suggest you should do -
1. Update flash radio to the latest available update from Tmobile US website, regardless of what ROM you have at present (version 2.15.50.14 is the latest, I think).
2. Flash HSPL 2.08 to your phone to maximize 576 RAM usage, if you have it (do not use SPL 2.08.000 as this will recognize only 448 RAM size).
2. Use Task29 to clean out the existing the existing ROM on your phone (this will erase your OS and you will only be booting on the white HTC logo screen). This will clear out those ROM leftovers on your phone.
3. Flash magdlr 1.12 or 1.13 on your phone (press power button on boot to show magdlr menu).
4. On magdlr menu scroll down to no.5 USB flasher, connect your phone to pc and run dwi.exe on your WP7 installer and wait till installation has completed.
I have done these procedures a dozen times already I have not encountered problems so far. I have been flashing and flashing to choose the best ROM (WP7 or WM6.5.x) I want. On personal note, I think I would settle for WM6.5.x cooked ROMs because of usability and handiness (I find WP7 too complicated to deal in terms of tweaks and handling of personal videos/photos file security).
Some notes:
a. You need to flash radio and HSPL only once.
b. Use Task29 every time you need to install a new ROM (your choice, but recommended).
c. After Task29 you can start out clean and flash to stock ROM or any other rom you choose.
d. There are dozens of videos on YouTube to help you flash but I have not seen one using Task29 to start the process of flashing.
This works for me, hope it does to you as well. Good luck !!!
I know there are lots of posts about bicks, but after a week searching I could not find any fix for my problem.
I have a S-Off, rooted GSM Evo 3D running Yoda ICS ROM and 4ext Recovery. One day, I was charging it when it hung, I restarted the phone, but it went directly to the bootloader (I didn't touch anything), as I was unaware of what was happening, I simply power it off (using the menu option), when I tried to power it on again, I got no success, only a dim red light appeared, and it is this way eversince.. I cannot power it on, go to the bootloader or anything, the computer recognizes it as QSUSB-DLOAD but there is no partition on it (I tried both Linux and Windows). I tried some unbricking methods without success. I am in Brazil, I tried to call HTC but they said I have to send the device to the origin country (mine is from Rogers, I believe it is Canada), but I don't even know where to send and I'd prefer to fix it by myself if possible. I am open to suggestions anyone could help?
Thanks a Lot!!

Does adb detect the device?
In that case you could try to run a ruu...
If he can get it into recovery mode then yes. Most of the time its usually something that the end user has done to make it get bricked. I am not saying he actually did something. We also don't know what he has done with his . Phone changing your cid is a good way to brick it. Pulling the battery during a ruu update, flashing a CDMA firmware etc things like that are guaranteed brick makers. However there's only one solution I know of should you not be able to boot into recovery. Try and Google up JTAG. I'm fuzzy on the details about how it works but it can restore your hboot. If you know somebody that knows how to do it, that's your best shot. Otherwise, you will have to send it into HTC Canada or you could try to buy the JTAG hardware and learn how to use it to restore your phone. If anybody has a solution for him please feel free to chime in. Sorry about your phone though. I wish you the best of luck on getting it restored.

No, it does not detect the phone. I was searching more thoroughly and found some places here in Brazil that do jtag repairs, I think I will give it a shot.
Thanks!

Just to let you guys know, I did the jtag repair and it worked for about a week, I put back my cfw and yesterday, out of nothing it stopped work again. It was working normally, I left it on the table, checked the time and went do other things, later (about 2 hours) I took the phone to set the alarm for the next day and it didn't turn on...
If someone has any ideas, I appreciate!
Thanks in advance.

Try using this to unbrick the phone (aimed specifically for DLOAD error, but has worked for other cases): http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1522351. Afterward, use a combination of both the official instructions from Unlimited.io and this video tutorial to achieve S-OFF. The instructions give you an idea of how-to, the video actually gives you a better sense for the timing. The timing is very specific that needs to be done just right (might take quite a few times to get it done).
If you have an HTC Evo V 4G with Virgin Mobile USA, then you can use this flashable RUU to return to stock (I extracted this from the RUU.exe; just ensure that your bootloader is LOCKED. You can check this by Holding Pwr+Vol Down during boot; top of the screen should say LOCKED). If your phone skips loading into your bootloader and boots into the main OS, pull the battery to bypass quickboot (or turn it off in the settings). To flash the RUU, move the file to the root of your SD card, boot into bootloader, and follow the directions on screen.
