[REQ]TMOUS - Text Selection context - Windows Mobile Apps and Games

In the HTC Text Message tool, when you are writing a message, if you long press in the text area INSTEAD of the default context menu with "select all, copy/cut/paste " It displays a cursor position slider to move the cursor exactly where you want to, with a context menu to "select text" that shows two cursors to multi touch to select text. This is an awesome feature, this is similar to how the iPhone text selection works, only without the zoomed in view.
I would like to "enable" this functionality across the system. Such as selecting text in emails, browser, twitter, facebook, or wherever. Is there a way to enable this cool functionality?
I'd be happy with an everywhere enablement. Even better is to configure so that it appears in the "select all copy/paste" context menu as a new item "cursor position" or something similar.
*Update: I am not alone apparently, and this is not news.

*Tip I also found useful:
40. Enable Magnifying Box When Selecting Text
Press and hold your finger on any text in a HTC app such as Messaging and an iphone-esque selection procedure with handles to drag and highlight text will appear. Modify the following registry entry to add a magnifying window as you select and highlight the text. Go to:
HKLM/Software/HTC/TextSelection/EnableMagnifier and change from 0 to 1.

How to move to a position on a text field

In the iphone+ipod touch and the HD2(i believe), when you're entering text you can press and hold and the area magnifies allowing you to precisely navigate to the point on the text to continuing editing. is there anyway to do this on a Hero, that is other than blindly poking and a position until you get where you want.
I normally just tap to where I want or near where I want, then use the trackball from there.

[CM7] Tip: Use lockscreen gestures as shortcuts

Here's a little tip to make the NC's lockscreen a little bit more comfortable:
1. Go to: Settings->CyanogenMod settings->Lockscreen->Lockscreen gestures
2. Hit "Build gestures" and then "Add gesture"
3. Click the "Action" button and then choose "Shortcut or activity"
4. Select an app or shortcut you want to be able to launch from the lockscreen
5. Draw a gesture
6. Hit "Done"
Of course, you can also set an unlock gesture which will allow you to disable the unlock sliders in the "Unlock options".
You can now launch your shortcut from the lockscreen by drawing the assigned gesture. This is often faster and more convenient than "unlocking and launching" for your most used apps.
A few examples from my setup:
- circle (or O) launches Opera Mobile
- "P" launches Pulse
- "U" launches Unifies Remote - extremely useful when watching movies.
There is other crazy stuff you can do, for example launching GScripts, but I haven't figured out anything useful for that yet. Maybe you can give me some input on this
I hope you find this tip useful. Please share your ideas about how to make the most out of those lockscreen gestures!

[Q] A05PTH3ORY V1.4X - How to enable text input keyboard navigation?

I searched and was unable anything-- how do you enable navigation buttons in text entry for this ROM? Editing long text messages before sending is next to impossible b/c I can't scroll up or down or left or right to see what was previously entered.
Posted here b/c I'm under-count to post in the dev thread in the dev forum.
I use "smart keyboard pro" with the HTC themed skin. It had the nav buttons you're asking about.
Signature.
My best suggestion for you would be downloading "Gingerbread Keyboard for 2.3". After downloading it, go into your settings menu, and under "language & keyboard" enable gingerbread keyboard. Then go into anywhere where you can input text, longpress the text box to select "input method" and select "Gingerbread Keyboard". From this keyboard, press the spacebar and swipe your finger up. This should pop up keyboard arrows. When you're done, swipe down instead of up.
If I helped ya, and hit the "Thanks"

How to change dock apps in touchwiz

I don't take credit for this, just found it and wanted to share if anyone needs it. Follow URL below

Sent from the only phone designed by Chuck Norris
It's on page 33 of the manual, it says:
Adding and Removing Primary Shortcuts
You can change any of your primary shortcuts with the exception
of the Applications and Home shortcuts.
1. Press to activate the Home screen.
2. Tap to display your current applications.
3. Press and tap Edit.
4. If the Reorganize icons screen is displayed, tap Switch.
5. Read the Edit applications information and tap OK (this only
displays the first time you edit the Applications menu).
6. Scroll through the list and locate your desired application.
7. Touch and hold the on-screen icon, then drag it over the
primary shortcut that you want to replace. The new
primary shortcut then appears at the bottom of the screen.
The old primary shortcut will return to the application
menu.
8. Press and tap Save.
9. Press to return to the Home screen.
The new primary shortcut will now appear on all Home
screens.
there is WAY to many steps to do that.

Can you move android AlertDialog to always be on the top of the screen, not centred?

An app I use, the keyboard covers the 'enter' and 'cancel' buttons of a text dialog box which is annoying me, so.... can I system wide have ALL alertdialog boxes appear at the top half of the screen, above my keyboard, rather than centred?
Cheers.
