Does anyone know if there already is glue on the replacement so only the old glue has to be removed and attach the new digitizer?
Thanks
Thanks for the answer. But what I meant is if it the new one has glue on it, so I can attach it or do I have to buy new special glue?
No it doesn't come with glue.
I attached mine with double sided tape, but if you had read the other threads about digitizer replacements you would have known.

Hi there!
I didn't put a screen protector on my TD2 -and over time it has become more scratched than expected. I'd like to replace the front display -I guess that is the one called the digitizer, or?

What are the chances for getting an original HTC at ebay?
Did anybody do this replacement with success?
Cheers
No one?
check this out too!!!
more expensive and not a word about oem product!!!
So... oem digitizer with just 19$ .... hmmmm! don't know!!!!
Perhaps this guide can help you.
Hopefully it's not permanently attached to the LCD like the ATT Fuze is. I took my Fuze apart and destroyed the LCD while trying to install a new digitizer. Apparently they use some sort of extremely strong glue between the digitizer and LCD...
Hopefully not.. But I think it's only glued to the frame.. I don't really know what kind of glue to use for the new one though...

Sorry to tell you all that the Digitizer is permanently attached with LCD. I know this because I was drop my D2 and went to service center. They change to front cover (case) which was broken when droped. when I get it back they give me back my old front cover and I notice that the digitizer is stick with over part.....
When I ask the service's counter. They told me that they have to change the new digitizer because it come with whole part.. not saparated.
Sorry for my english....
Hi Guide144, you say that when you got the digitizer back it sticked with the 'over part'. To my ears that sounds like the FRAME and not the LCD? Are you sure that it's also attached to the LCD?

Sorry for lag of my understanding, Yes the digitizer is stick with front frame, not a LCD. In my case, I ask the service to change my front cover because it broke and they change the front cover + digitizer.... because it stick together.
Hope this would clear all out.
Hi guys,
i replaced today the broken digitizer of my topaz.
Got one for $60 from ebay, with a screen (i wasn't sure if it was a screen problem or digitizer so i got both.)
you need to unstick the old one from the housing and attach the new one. i didn't use extra glue/stick , since the old one was left on the casing.
cheers
Thanks mistral82cy! Thanks for sharing -now I feel a little more up to going ahead with the operation
Hi! Could you please tell me how much the service center charged you to get the new cover and digitizer installed?
I've to change mine, as well!
Thanks a lot
I would suggest finding the parts list for the phone and finding out exactly what digitizer is needed then buy one online from somewhere such as e-bay. I did this with my G1 replaced it myself and it worked wonderfully. Research before you buy otherwise you might end up buying the wrong one or a clone which doesnt work as well
I dun it myself, buying one digitizer from ebay, getting the old one out was a little tricky , but appart from that it was easy(and i had to do it again, as i dit not secure it properly and there was dust comming underneath the screen from the sides. Any questions you could ask, but it is pretty straight forward.
pistonripper changed his housing, so he would have also replaced his digitizer, so you might want to check with him

replace digitizer on your own!
Hello everyone!
My digitizer broke last week, because i droped my Diamond!
But don't worry I am a rookie in technical things and I managed it to replace my digitizer on my own.
Don't waste money on repair charge from repairshops! Ok... you loose your garantie but the Cellphone is allready old. The new HD2 is already available!
Just buy the digitizerscreen at ebay... i've paid 60 € and then use this manual:
http://www.pdacenter.ru/razborka/htc-touch-diamond2/
Now it works like before.
Bye Ghostina
HTC Pure Digitizer or LCD
i just got my new AT&T HTC Pure and somehow my screen is cracked. The LCD does not appear to have any bleeding or damage and the touch features work, but I have two cracks from top to bottom on my phone. what are your thoughts. I attached some pictures

It's a bit hard to see on the photos but if its new can you not return it? if not then you need to look closely between the digitizer and the screen and see if the damage is just the top layer or the screen, if it is the top layer then just replace your digitizer!

Chill.
Out.
Seriously.
As always this site is a big help. Just ordered the items, and thanks to the guide I'm fairly confident I will pull it off. For me the bottom 2cm's of the screen have shifted about 1cm to the left somehow. The digitizer still works "perfectly" but it's kinda hard to hit the right buttons like that
So I've done some searching around here and gathered what I think I need to know, but wanted to just be sure before I went ahead and messed up the parts I ordered.
* What glue is best for affixing the digitizer to the LCD? Obviously one that dries clear? Has anyone had experience with this or double-sided tape, and which works better?
* What is the best method for adjoining the digitizer and LCD flex cable connectors if one does not have immediate access to a soldering iron?
(makes me wish I had ordered 'em prejoined! )
Thank you!
I'm aware this question has been asked before but i'm going to add onto it a little.
I have bought a topaz full housing + digitizer and my question is what to stick the digitizer down with and where can i buy it ? - some have already said double sided 3m tape but 3mm or 4mm as both seem to be for digitizers and i don't want it protruding from the case nor do i really want it depressed into the case.
As an add on can you tell me what you used to get the job done and how well it held - any tips for the job in hand like heat up the tape with a hairdryer beforehand or let the glue sit for 30 seconds before attaching the digitizer.
Any and all help is appreciated. Thanks

Thanks very much and how did you find it is it still sticking how long has it lasted ?
It has about the same strength as the original.
I have used my phone for 2 month without problem with this tape.
You have to cover the entire contact surface for the digitizer with tape use a razor to cut small pieces.
Excellent thank you . I have finally managed to get mine stuck on and all back together and the call button is now not working ahhhh lol
Hey everyone.
The digitizer on my phone has started to act funky recently and I've decided to get a new one, but I'd like to know a couple of things first:
1. Is the digitizer integrated into the glass on the screen or is it a separate part? I see most places selling what seems like both but I've also seen different items labeled as digitizers and I'd like to be certain.
2. What tools will I need to install it? I'm seeing that I need 2mm double sided tape and a T5 torx screwdriver but I'd like to know if I need anything else.
2. Will the screen have to be recalibrated once the digitizer is installed?
3. What's a good site to buy a replacement? I'm willing to pay for an expensive screen if it's a good quality that'll hopefully last for another couple of years.
Thanks!

Dunno what's that you found, but the digitizer and the glass are inseparable and must always come together. You CAN however get just the glass or the glass with the frame. I'd get the frame too if I were you. Saves you needing the double-sided tape.
If you get it with the frame included, then just the TORX and maybe some plastic prying tool (a guitar pick will do nicely). Probably a pair of tweezers too.
No recalibration necessary or even available.
Amazon or eBay (can't remember which) reportedly has decent ones. Look for the merchant "seller1on1" (again, not sure if that's correct). There is also a link to another decent site in another thread. Guess you need to do a little searching around the forum.

Aroma calibration is for Aroma ONLY, it has nothing to do with any other part of the system.
I'll hop on the topic. I've got the spare digitizer and I need to replace it. Can anyone give me some tips to dissasemble & install? i've been looking for videos but i need real tips from anybody who did it already.
Thanks!

Awesome, thanks. Apparently though Seller1on1 sells low quality screens, at least according to the reviews on the amazon page. amazon(dot)com/Motorola-Screen-Digitizer-Replace-broken/product-reviews/B004Z0UO8O/ref=dp_top_cm_cr_acr_txt?ie=UTF8&showViewpoints=1 I'll look for that other thread though.

Don't listen to anyone who says that the LCD and digitizer are inseparable. They are. You can buy an OEM digitizer and replace it alone (if your LCD is fine. Trust me, I would know. I just did it myself.
Look at the teardown and screen sections on this page for detailed step by step instructions on how to do this.

My apologies. But in most cases, when one refers to the digitizer, they refer to the glass on top of the LCD ... no?

No prob at all pal!. The digitizer and the glass are "the digitizer", where the digitizer is a film located in the rear of the glass (correct me please if im wrong)

Yes, and that's exactly what I said. Glass + digitizer. Inseparable. No one ever mentioned the LCD.

Quick question and i'm sorry if it has been asked before.
My stepdad cracked the screen but the digitizer and the LCD are fine.
My question is, can I replace the glass screen by its-self (as i've seen for sale for $7.00), or is the digitizer and LCD glued to the screen when I take it apart similar to the iPhones.
I'd rather not have to purchase a digitizer and a LCD if i don't have to.
Thanks in advance for the help :good:
Its one unit so you need to buy that for about $185. Its only possible to successfully separate the glass from the digitizer and the capacitive buttons with a machine.
Used notes are priced at about the same as the replacement screen unit.
Worth a try

Not really. The hairdryer heats up and damages the lcd while doing a marginal job of softening the adhesive. You will likely overheat the lcd. The buttons are deeply imbedded in the adhesive and are harder to place on the new glass. The adhesive sticker is pretty difficult to place correctly. I have excellent skills, and have replaced many screens (gorilla glass is a poor name choice) and I attempted this but it didn't go so good.
