[Q] HSPL Failure: Bad Model ID - HD2 Windows Mobile 6.5 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi,
I have a Telstra T9193, and I am looking to flash to a standard ROM. However, when I try to flash HSPL onto it I get:
critical error
flow 00000003
error code: 00000004
description: bad model ID
When I hold down the volume button and turn the power on, I get the following information:
PB81110 HX-BC
SPL-1.66.0000 XE
In the HSPL thread it says 1.66.0000 is ok as a version, so what's up?
Also my radio version is 2.07.51.22_2. I see a lot of people saying their ROM needs 2.07.50.x instead of 2.07.51.x for some reason. Why, and is this bad?
I promise I am not stupid, just very uninformed with the HD2 ROMs.

I don't see you mention which HSPL you are using...you're going to want to sort that out first because it seems like you are using the incorrect version for your device.
Check this thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=611433 and specifically, post #1826

Been asked and answered more times than I care to count. HSPL2 does not work on the Telstra device. You need to downgrade your Telstra rom to an earlier version (http://www.fusioncontrolcentre.com/...Radio_Signed_15.28.50.07U_2.05.51.11_Ship.exe) in order to get spl 1.42.0000 and then use hspl1.

[Q] HTC-HD2 CID Unlocking

I have seen many threads about unlocking the CID for other phones, but none for the HTC-HD2. When I attempt to update my phone I get this error message, "ERROR [294] INVALID VENDOR ID". I assume my locked CID is causing this error, so how do I unlock this? Please help me, I really want to update my phone. Thanks in advance.
bahardman
did you try hspl man
i guess no need to cid unlock
Guidance please on flashing 1.48 when getting vendor id error
Hi there - I am pretty new to all of this. I am trying to flash a standard 1.48 rom upgrade obtained through this forum onto a previously O2 locked HD2. I did get an unlock code - which allows me to use my vodafone sim but when i try to use the standard RUU utility it comes up with the vendor ID error. How do I handle this - happy to be pointed to the right post elsewhere.

The HSPL that is offered here does, indeed, unlock CID.
It says so in the description of the HSPL and it DOES work.
I have HSPL and a GER Vodafone CID-Lock (damn them). Now, I can flash any ROM and Radio (and, finally the 1.48 official upgrade!).
Cheers.

Sorted - used HSPL and it worked a dream. You guys might be rude to newbies but you do seem to know what you are about.

omg HSPL UNLOCK CID for HD2. is so hard to read in this forum ??
Hi, I've flashed my HTC LEO with the latest HTC ROM with a SD card... and now i've got a SPL 3.03, that is not working with HSPL (even 3rd one).
Does anybody got a technique with MTTY to unlock my CID?
Should I use a Goldcard? or do I have to wait for an hypothetic HPSL4 (that integrate a SPL3.03 hack)?
sam here my HD2 is broken
These is hard xD

only the correct rom for your phone will work. go to htc website and find any rom that it lets you download using YOUR phones serial, and flash it.
Thanks mate I will try and let you know what I did.

Before I send HD2 for repair...

I have been told to send back my HD2 for repair by HTC as they said it is definetly faulty (Audio delay, delay dialing numbers, keypad slows down dramatically during sms typing).
Now I know as well as the rest of you, it's not faulty, it's just HD2's common problems, but they assure me they can send one out without these issues.
But before I send it off, can anyone tell me if this is a stock ROM etc. I've installed so much I can't remember what is stock & what is not lol.
Also, how can I remove HSPL if I have it installed, and how do I tell if I have?
Many thanks.
Ok, so I managed to check it by pushing the volume key down and resetting, this is the info it gave me:
PB81100 HX-BC
SPL-1.42.HSPL XE
0x05
CotullaHSPL 0x30
Is this the version that comes with the phone or is it something I' ve installed?
Just so I don't invalidate my warrenty when I send it back?
I've found out how to remove it, but I there's no need if it's the one that came with my HD2.
Thanks for any help at all.

That is something you installed ....
search and download HSPL3 run it, select sp1.42 or spl1.66(just changed this per sams post below) , that will remove HSPL and put it back to stock spl. It looks like the ROM is a stock one, but if you want to be sure after removing HSPL , download and install a stock ROM for your phone ...
stop, only tmous phones ship with spl 2.x, and an official tmous rom would fail to flash on your phone without hspl so they will know you've been tampering.
use hspl2 and choose either 1.42.0000 or 1.66.0000
the rom should be fine, it's hspl that is the deal breaker.
@watcher, you would be spot on for a tmous user

@samsamuel I am glad you caught that, I had just answered the same question of a TMO user, and I guess my brain was stuck .... Updated my post
Thanks guys for your answers,
I don't know if this helps, but I am on Orange, I bought the phone on a 18 Month Orange contract from Dial a Phone, but in the phone identity page under "Model No" it says T-Mobile_LEO
Thanks again for all your help.
that's t mobile uk, though, same hd2 as all the rest. only tmo usa have a different phone.it will be fine with that wwe rom so long as hspl is gone
Thanks to both of you very much.
So this is what I now have:
PB81100 HX-BC
SPL-1.42.0000 XE
MicroP(LED) 0x05
MicroP(TOUCH) 0x30
I'm hoping this is as back to normal as I will get it, ready to send back to HTC now.
Again, thanks to you both, very much appreciated.
just realised you have a 50 radio installed, which are from tmous.not sure whether that's worth worrying about but for safety i'd re run hspl2 apply an hspl, flash a 51 radio then remove hspl again just like before.
i would probably go for 2.06.51.x radio or there abouts.
Okay, I'll try that now, thanks again.
Right, think I've done this ok.
So this is what I now have:
PB81100 HX-BC
SPL-1.42.0000 XE
MicroP(LED) 0x05
MicroP(TOUCH) 0x30
&
Radio: 2.06.51.07
sorted......
Sweet, thanks so much for all the help tonight mate.
Very much appreciated.
Just wonder if they really will be able to send it back without any of the issues I'm having, I really think they are just quirks of the HD2.
I've hard reset it now.
Just checked & I'm still getting the same issues:
Audio not in sync & delay in dialing when tapping a contact to dial, sms typing lags badly after typing about 30 words, built in youtube uploader not working & internet cutting out.
I very much doubt they can fix this, like I said, just seems to be too many peopple with the same issues, but they reckon they can, and they also guaranteed me it will only take 7 days (Again, don't think this will be the case).
They said they won't send a temp phone, but I'm arguing that at the moment as they told me it's a faulty phone.
We will see
Thanks again
heh, best of luck with that. and i think you're right, most of those issues are pretty much standard to a greater or lesser degree, some have them, some dont, some have some of them, some dont,,, its hit and miss, but hey, a second chance at a new phone is always a winner.
Yeah that's what I'm thinking, it's not going to cost me anything to get it looked at so if I end up with the same phone back I've not lost anything.
If I get a new one back it's a bonus.
I'll post back the results when I've sent it back & finally had it returned.
backing up original rom
hi all,
I just bought a TmoUS HD2 (ver details in signature).
Is there a tool with which I can create a image of(basically backup) my current ROM so in the event I land myself in trouble while experimenting I could revert back to the default/stock ROM n Radio?
Thanks

What did you do last before this issue occurred?
Search for "task29" and do this, that might also help. After that flash with your favorite rom(probably the one you were trying to flash)
You can also look on youtube for "task29 hd2" for some tutorials.

reinstall original radio or a fake original radio?

there is a method for reinstall the original radio or fake original radio? (i don't know if this is his name)..

now, i have reinstalled the WM 6.5 ROM because the android give me various problem... and this problems persist.. so i want send my telephone to repair because it is still in warranty...
they watch the radio installed? or provide only to repair the telephone?
thanks in advance.
are you on about getting rid of the hspl? you need to rerun the hspl and select the one that isnt hspl
where i can find the program for remove hspl?

This will have already installed the correct radio
No, the radio isnt important for warranty, only that its a stock rom, and MOST IMPORTANT hspl is not there.
SO, depending what stock rom you flashed (since you didnt tell us) you need to run hspl.exe and set teh correct spl
SO, if you flashed stock rom version 3.14, you must run hspl4.exe and choose 3.03.0000
if you flashed any other version, run hspl2.exe and set 1.66.0000
If you have a tmous (t mobile USA) then use hspl4.exe to set 2.08.0000 or 2.10.0000 or (if you flashed ver 3.14 rom) 3.03.0000
thanks for support.. now... mmm... i not remember which stock rom i have installed on my HD2.. :s ... how can i see the number of the version?
i think is this:
RUU_Leo_S_HTC_ITA_3.14.408.2_Radio_15.42.50.11U_2.15.50.14_LEO_S_Ship.exe
but i have also
RUU_Leo_HTC_ITA_1.66.408.1_Radio_Signed_15.30.50.07U_2.06.51.07_Ship.exe
and not remember which i have installed.. sure, i have downloaded the first up.. but maybe, in confusion, i have installed the second... (it was on my pc since july)
ps
it's not tmobile , it's a normal version not branded by telephone companies.
it was buyed in Italy, so EU - not USA.
When the phone boots, and you get the splashscreen, look at the info bottom of screen, R G D that's the radio ver, rom ver and protocol (don't need this)
ok, here we are my screen:
R 2.15.50.14
G 15.42.50.11U
D 3.14.04666
what does it's mean? which hspl and what also i have to install? i'm really newbie about all this... thanks everybody 4 support
Compare the numbers to the numbers in the filenames you posted above.
Means you have rom 3.14, radio 2.15.50 and need spl 3.03.0000
so, now... my hd2 run already WM 6.5...
for install the spl i use hspl4.exe and i launch the application after reboot of telephone with power+vol down? i don't want destroy my smartphone
thanks
Yea, either from bootloader or from within running winmo, but I recommend from within bootloader, since there is less chance of USB timeout.
Don't worry so much, its pretty tough to brick a regular hd2 by flashing. Its the tmous that comes with an idiot kill switch, not the regular.
ok, i have done it!
when i start phone with power+vol down it's say to me, in the screen with the four colours:
PB81100 SS-BC
SPL-3.03.0000 X3
MicroP(LED) 0x05
MicroP(TOUCH) 0x50
it's all ok? now can i send to repair the telephone with the warranty?
spl and OS are installed.
missing somewhat else?
thanks
yep that will do fine.

Help needed, my HD2 is not well!

OK so here goes,
I was trying to flash my HD2 with the latest ROM for my region using the SD card method as the USB port is not working, it will charge the phone but does not sync with the pc.
All was going well with the flash when all of a sudden the screen went black and since then I've had the following..
When I turn it on I get the triangle with the exclamation mark.
If I try to go into the bootloader I get the RGBW screen with
RUUNBH
PB81100 HX-BC
SPL-1.42.0000 XE
MicroP(LED) 0x05
MicroP(TOUCH) 0x50
Upgrade ROM code error
Please try again
then I get the white screen with
loading......
almost immediately I then get
00028002
Not allow
and then it goes back to the RGBW screen with the same information as before
Please Help!!!!

wrong rom for that phone. Needs to match operator too,(assuming its from an operator) and just cos the sim may be unlocked the rom is always locked. Flashing from SD removed hspl so now the rom checks fail.

Goes to loading cos leoimg is still on SD card. Since you don't have USB, you can now no longer flash hspl, so only sspl, so only winmo cooked roms, and no radio changes. Unlucky.
Is it bricked or is there a way of getting it to work again?
If I can get it back to some form of a functional phone 'er indoors will gladly use it.
Sure, find the right rom, example a German phone from o2 requires the 'o2 de' rom,, an unbranded one (from carphone warehouse for instance) would use the 'HTC wwe" rom.. etc etc.
Once you figure out which rom you need look for a 3.14 version and flash it.
Don't panic if you get what you got this time, that exclamation, just means you got the wrong rom. Try another one
(Edit - I was gonna mention SSPL but just remembered that it needs USB so your option is as above.... correct stock rom)

This solution doesn't appear to work, I've tried every UK version of 3.14 from the HTC website and I've even tried the original 1.66.405.2 (all versions, obviously trying the WWE one first) all to no avail.

ALL 1.66 roms are unbranded, the branded 1.66 roms are version 1.72, so you haven't tried any operator branded 1.66 roms.
